History:

Fluttershy was born where it seems most pegasi are born, Cloudsdale, to a pair of ponies who worked as teachers. Her mother worked at a local elementary school while her father worked as as a dean at a school for special fillies and colts. As a result Fluttershy grew up in a home dedicated to patient teaching methods with two exceptionally kind-hearted and gentle parents leading the charge, which was more of a gentle trot when you think of it. It was for all intents and purposes a rather idyllic home life. As a little foal Fluttershy had no reason to expect that ponies at large were any different from her parents, something which would prove a rather disappointing assumption.

When she finally attended school she was in for a rude awakening. Being the daughter of a teacher who was all too likely to openly show affection for her beautiful young daughter, Fluttershy became the target of a special kind of 'teacher's pet' bullying, made worse by the belief that she was given good grades because of her relationship to the teacher. This was patently untrue as she was simply a very bright young student, but it didn't matter. When she would got to her mom and tell her what was happening, the response from those who got in trouble would only make it worse. She quickly learned that the best way to make it through was to be quiet, and after she stopped telling her mom what was happening her mom believed everything was fine, and she was teased less.

As her schooling continued and she became more and more shy, her flying abilities started to become stunted even as she started to develop physically before many others. These factors didn't help her much, and her grades started to suffer as she became more and more out of sorts. She didn't allow any of this to dissuade her from the rather earnest belief that most ponies were good, and she just happened to be doing something wrong. She had friends and was generally well liked, but as issues piled up for as she grew older, the strain of bully that picked on her just became more virulent. Her flying abilities became something of a concern for her parents, and her father finally decided to send her to Flight Camp- with equal goals of flying better and gaining more confidence.

It didn't work as planned. She was an awkward, slow, and weak flier, and being in the awkward stage of development singled her out. Luckily, the majority of ponies at flight camp were too focused on trying to be the best they could be to do much to her, but a pair of bullies found time to do what bullies do. It was just another incident where "Klutzershy", as they called her, had an accident that ended with a flag around her and they made fun of her when another filly stood up for her. A race ensued with Fluttershy starting it with a flag. The speed of the rainbow filly who stood up for her was so much that it sent her spinning in place and then falling far, far, far to the ground! She was saved from a nasty crash by a large swarm of butterflies. On the ground for the first time she saw all the greenery and the cute animals and overwhelmed from the beauty of it all began to sing, which was cut short by the Sonic Rainboom.

The animals scattered, but Fluttershy immediately tried to calm and soothe them. Unlike her interactions with ponies so far, she made an immediate connection with the animals. After just a few moments she coaxed them out, realizing her ability to communicate with and understand animals. With the beauty of the natural world enriching her, she decided to make a living on the ground. She returned home and told her parents, who were excited that their daughter had found something that really made her happy. She had wait several years as she grew older and they scouted places for her to live, eventually choosing Ponyville because of how close it is to Cloudsdale.

She was able to buy an old fixer upper cottage not far from the town itself. Seeking help getting it together, she befriended a local farmer named Applejack and her family(mostly on account of their dog) who helped fix her cottage up. She befriended that same rainbow pegasus who saved her from bullies at flight camp, an outrageously aggressively friendly pink earth pony, and through her a whole deluge of local faces. She was still outrageously shy and met new ponies only reluctantly, but she was well liked in town either way. She became the second vet the town had and was used as a guide and general helpful pony when it came to everything animal, earning her a pleasant reputation and a gig preparing the bird chorus for the Summer Sun Celebration. There she would meet Twilight Sparkle, and her history has been tied up with the newest Princess ever since.

Character Summary:

Fluttershy is an overwhelmingly kind pony, who treats each and every new creature she meets with equal degrees of friendliness and agreeableness. She is very open-minded and willing to go with the flow if it means doing well by others, and goes out of her way to ensure those she deals with are treated fairly and kindly whenever she has the ability to do so. She sees the best in others and, more importantly, believes in others even after initial disappointment. Rarely does she give up on somepony else, long after others have turned away. This was how she was eventually able to reach Discord long after everypony else had given up on him, if they had ever given him a chance at all.

She is very forgiving if she believes a pony is honestly trying their best and she is not one to hold grudges. Indeed, Fluttershy is often the first in her group of friends to try to bridge the gap or start anew when something has forced ponies to drift apart, and it is this quality that has endeared her to many. She is a very observant pony despite what some think, though her natural shyness means it rarely comes out. She knows a lot on many subjects, from fashion to history to literature and farming. When this knowledge comes out, it tends to come out in spurts and waves and sometimes only when under duress. She is quite beautiful, or so others say, her natural hues and tones and attitude forming a perfect New Age sort of model. This sort of attention makes her very uncomfortable and she has never sought it out, something which can occasionally give her best friend Rarity pause.

She is a world-class animal caretaker who can effortlessly communicate with most animals and enable whatever aid they need in reaching them, creating a vital link between ponies and their pets and providing an incalculably valuable resource for a town situated on the edge of the Everfree forest. Her abilities are tested with some of the more wild creatures found in the Everfree but she has almost always found it a successful trip when she has needed to. Even her great fear of Dragons can be overcome with enough effort, and she is a mare devoted to helping animals and in doing so has done things no other pony has been able to do in the Everfree- like stop a cockatrice mid-freeze.

Fluttershy is extremely shy. This was a far more socially crippling flaw before she met Twilight, at some points not even being able to get her name out. She still feels greater comfort meeting a new animal than a pony, but she has improved in that sense. She is soft-spoken and quiet, preferring to listen instead of speak unless something is wrong. She doesn't like being startled or scared and would rather sequester herself than deal with such times, meaning she tends to be a home early type of gal while others are more inclined to party. In fact, the only parties she attends are the high energy but otherwise unsurprising ones Pinkie Pie throws.

She can be too forgiving and gives too many second chances, sometimes getting burned in the process. At other times she has been known to have her normally calm and kind demeanor warped, becoming cruel or far too aggressive to compensate. These times are rare and are the result of prodding and pushing, but otherwise she is a wonderfully kind pony for all to get to know.

Looks good to me, here's your prompt:

How can you make the character unique, interesting, and expand on them beyond what we've seen in FiM? What happens after the episode ends? That is a question cast players are asked to answer. For your RP prompt, please give us a short example of the character doing what they do best. Be as creative and detailed as possible, and play them how you would in a live, opening roleplay. Be sure to finish your prompt with an opening for another character to realistically reply.

Fluttershy was not a big fan of the Everfree Forest, even if she loved all the animals inside of it. Most anyway. It ws just so dark and gloomy and scary and lonesome and- no, no, don't get worked up. She could do this! She had done done this! She had been in the Everfree forest oh so many times now and even if it was still as dark and dangerous as it ever was, full of nastiness not fit for any pony, she wasn't....okay, no, she was still scared. She could tell by how long she was waiting to walk out of her front door. But she also knew that no matter how scared she was she would have to go in there today because if she didn't, she would miss the opportunity of a lifetime.

A few days ago, she had been tending to some of her friends' hollows on the edge of the Everfree when this strange bird had appeared. She knew it was strange because she knew all about birds and had never seen this one before. It had such beautiful plummage that shimmered in the light and changed based on emotion. It was black when she had seen it struggling to gain any lift and smacked into a nearby tree, knocking itsef out. Poor thing! She had taken it back home and got it all nice and cozy. It hadn't been hurt in any way that was serious, so she waited for it to wake up. And when she did, what a nice conversation she had.

It was a baby bird, just a little baby, known as Preenies. Fun name for such a beautiful creature! He had got separated from his family and this week they were going to be migrating deeper into the Everfree. He was so scared, so alone! But luckily the migration was contining for the next few days. There was still time to reuunite this baby bird with his family, and Fluttershy was going to do it- and see what an adult looked like as well! It was so exciting. But scary. And so the day of her little expedition to where she believed he needed to go to catch on the last migratory winds had arrived and here she was, a small bird on her shoulder, a saddlebag tugged type, and the familiar cold sweats coming over.

But she could do it!
"Okay Preeny, we're going to meet some ponies who want to help us find your momma and poppa. How does that sound?" The bird chirped. "Great. Let's go, shall we?" She asked pleasantly before exiting her cottage and making her way to the meeting point, where the ponies she had found who were willing to help were waiting. It was going to be a great day!
