S.S.D recon (private)

Midnight stayed in her own head, going over simulations about what could happen if they encountered her old team. All that she came up with her friends dead. There wasn't anything, in her mind, she could do to stop him, if he wanted them dead the other devils would do it...and as for her...

As much as she wanted to say she'd stand by Doc through it all, she knew the reality of her situation and her training. She was a lapdog to him. Ember had mentioned it to her ages ago, and she had slowly realized that her training had conditioned her to follow his orders...She said herself a silent prayer, one of the only times, praying that said situation never occurs.

That's when she felt his hand on hers, and she looks up at him properly. "I-i'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that..."

Doc was surprised

... Surprised they saw him as a nice guy. There was a reason he was previously called "disgruntled doc" and not just doc.

He thought about things, slicing there nerves to make them vegetables, using willy Pete (white phosphorus) and other ... Illegal things to avenge the woman he loved.

Midnight had a strange way of ... Not exactly pacifying this anger, but holding it back like a shark in an aquarium, held back and essiantally harmless; but celestial help anything that fell in its tank!

"No babe." He said putting the thought aside "there is a very real possibility they may be out there ... If you are here. We just need to be prepared. ... Hey want to go back to the room and get some more rest?" He said suggesting an idea to her

"there might be an m.w.r (moral, well fair and recreation center. A marine corp sponsored program that helps marines there inside every major airport and base and usually have recreation items like snacks, pool tables, video games and movies for military members who have spare time) somewhere here to kill the time before the briefing"

Despite what doc said, she refused to hear it. Even if Doc thought it would be a good idea to be prepared, she knew the simply facts. If they did run into her old team, it didn't matter how prepared they were. they would die. She pushed it all from her mind, it wouldn't help to fixate on what she couldn't do anything about, and instead, focused on what she could do. Which was prepare for the next mission. She was about to suggest they go to the range, an action she had it drilled into her before a mission, when doc suggested the M.W.R's, which honestly might be better. She wanted to drag her mind away from her old team as much as possible.

"S-sounds like a plan, I could use a distraction until we find out about this briefing and what we're being thrown into now..." She tilted her head at him for a moment staring into his eyes "...Something is bothering you isn't it...?"

Doc finished the last of his food standing up with his tray walking with her.

"I uhh; just think i feel the same way. I always hated just waiting for the next mission." He didn't like lying to her but what was he going to say? Oh hey babe by the way I have serious anger problems that scare away the people I love. And I tend to take to out on my enemies?

it was something he knew he would have to talk to her about. But now wasn't the right time. He dumped his tray and they exited. Camp promenade was decently sized. But most recreational places like the gym and m.w.r would be close to the galley.

The buildings were all cheap looking and painted white. Most of them were squad bay style (the building that look like a giant can half buried in the ground) but some were made of wood and stone. There were only a few paved roads otherwise they walked on gravel and dust.

Doc observed the building labels and finally saw the classic m.w.r sigh. "There it is. Looks like promenade has pretty much everything you need!"

They walked into the medium sized building. It was lit with somewhat harsh lights overhead. But it was nice and cool. The clean white tiles have it a very homely feel. There was a desk, and some tables that had snacks and various board games and books. There were a few pool tables and dart boards as well as a few doors and power outlets all over. It was empty exept for a small group playing pool and a few marines on there laptops.

Doc walked up to the main deal smiling at the receptionist "hi were new here" he said "just trying to see what you guys have to offer." He said

the receptionist nodded "ahh welcome. As you can see we have pool, board games, and fresh snacks made every few hours. We also have a game room. With the new Xbox and play station. And we have a movie room. You can take out games and movies here!" He said happily he pointed out the movie and game room as he spoke.ansering what the doors lead to.

doc turned to midnight and smiled "well; what do you feel like doing? I really should plan our dates better shouldn't I?" He said trying and failing to sound honest.

Midnight finished her tray, but snagged a sandwich as they were leaving and slowly ate it as they walked to what appeared, in her opinion, to be the most boring looking building on the base. And this was meant to keep them entertained? Riighhtt.

Inside however, changed her mind. The receptionist seemed nice enough, and the offering of what to do, to take their mind of battle, did sound interesting. There was just a slight issue with it, in her eyes. She had, absolutely, no idea, how to play pool, most board games, had little to no knowledge about computer games and hadn't watched movies in some time. She smiled, almost goofily, up at him when he mentioned he needed to plan their dates better, laughing at him slightly for his silliness.

"D-don't worry about it. H-how about a game of some kind? Just something to distract us till they call for us for duty..."

Doc laughed with her. Something about her laugh always made him feel good.

"O.k hmmm what shall we do; my darling?" He said in a posh accent, mimicking a joke she made when they first met.

He looked around, trying to decide. He didn't want to do something where they played against eachother, so most board games were out. They could just shoot at the pool table or play a co-op video game.

"You any good at pool?" He asked her

Black would have been lying if he had said he wasn't a little impressed with the track record, not everyone could say they had rolled with Seals and managed to live, or with the rangers if it was on the front line. He had been there, his regiment had some... brutal fights in front line combat, though he had made it through. He just nodded after Chill finished speaking.

"My names Blackwing. Most of my past is... lets just say its in the 'wind' but your right in guessing i'm not from here. At times im on duty with the 2nd commando regiment, at times im with the Special Air Service Regiment. Depends where im needed" He replies with, not really wanting to talk much about his service record. He had been in a lot of fights, done a lot of crazy ****, but no one really needed to listen to him talking about it.

"Have no idea when i'm getting out of here, apparently me and my squad are going to be sent on another mission soon, meaning i need to get to  the armory and gear up" He says, then with a touch of anger, he added "Besides, if someone pisses me off, they might get more then a smashed bone"

Chill listened to blackwing whe he was done he gave a simple

"huh; far out man"

he peered out the window as the m.ps ran by oblivious to there hiding spot.

"Yeah man; scene is clear; it sucks but at the same time I'm glad we got some qualified guys here. Things are getting weird at the boarder. More than likely there going to bring me back ... Even if I can get out today." He says a tad annoyed.

Meh gets his paperwork ready still laying down "if you want I got some uhh special requisitions in gear locker 4. Code is 0000 if you want it" he says with a nod.

Midnight growls, and blushes, at being called 'darling'. She still wasn't sure why she blushed, it was a silly of a nickname and she...really liked it.

"Pool....I presume it's not a swimming pool yeah? It's that weird game where you hit balls with sticks into holes or something? I mean, I can give it a go. How hard can it be?"

She smiled up at Doc, before leaning up and booping his nose again, smirking as she took a step back to avoid tickling revenge.

Doc laughes seing her be mad and blush at the same time. He tryed to dip back and avoid getting booped but she got him

he smiles and leads her to the table.

"So don't worry I'm not the best; but I can still show you how to play."

Doc explains the rules about pitting the balls, and the 8 ball. He then gives her a stick and gets close putting his chest on her back, his hips against hers. As he shows her how to use the cue

"and being a sniper you should be good, it's all about angles and lining things up!" He says as he lets her go standing up

Special requestions? Black was a little suspicious. Why would he just offer him some stuff? And why did he already trust him? Black liked the guy, but as always, he was careful at first.

"Special Requisitions? Whats in there?" He asks, not believing himself for actually thinking about accepting it. Who knew, it might help him in his next mission.

The game seemed, too simple yet complicated. Just hit the ball, but it has to be the right colour and you can't hit the black one till the end? What? She was about to ask questions when he shows her how to use the cue, and she felt the blush burning brightly on her face. When doc finally moved up, her face was bright red and she glances at the ground evidently flustered about their contact. She glances around the empty room a few times before getting her breathing under control, the blush refusing to leave her face.

"You're evil for doing that....I'm gunna crush you like a twig" she smirks as she tries to line up her first shot.

After 2 games, Midnight was getting more and more annoyed at Pool. It was dumb stupid with dumb rules and dumber hits and she couldn't hit the damn ball in the direction she wanted! After losing the 2nd game, she placed the pool cue on the table, trying to push her annoyance at the stupid game away.

"When's our mission briefing...?" She asked, wanting a distraction from the game that had driven her close to losing her temper.

Doc holds back mocking her more when she says she will "crush him" only saying "sounds good to me." Before beginning the game.

Doc wasn't a pool shark or a very good player. But he had a few wins In his belt and enjoyed the game. He found pool a raxing, something that requires just the right amount of concentration.

Midnight on the other hand ... Well it just seemed to make her angry ... More angry! It was kind of cute actually. Telling she had enough doc set his cue down, and looked to his watch

"ehhh we could change over and show up early." He put his arm around her and kissed the top of her head saying "sorry you didn't have fun. At least now we know you don't like pool. Next time you can pick what we do."  Doc felt he would regret giving her that choice, but she was definitely worth it.

They began walking back to there room and he asked her "hey so? Do you have any sort of vehicular knowledge? Humvess, choppers? Anything like that?"

meanwhile

the dude got ready to leave and said "oh just some stuff I found useful. I'm supposed to give it back but if you guys want it I'll just submit a missing gear statement. Some supply's and a very special little friend is on there." He said with a smirk. He nodded puting on his uniform hat "well gotta go talk to the old guys. Nice meeting you Blackwing. Hopefully next time we meet we won't be running away from n.j.ps! (Non judicial punishment. A quick way of punishing people) He said with a laugh leaving the room.

Midnight purred slightly, yes purred, as Doc pulled her in and kissed her head. She smiled up at him as he pulled back. "It was fun, just, annoying. It's a weird game and i'm just bad at it..."

Following Doc out towards their room, she frowned at his question. Why did he want to know was her biggest question, after all, it wasn't like she was gunna deploy them right?

"Umm, well I can drive so Humvee's, Quadbikes, ATV's and the such aren't too hard to use. I know the basics of choppers and I know how to fly a small 4-man plane..Oh, and operate power-boats...Yeah that's about it...Wait, why?"

doc smiled "well I was thinking about how we would work as a team and what kind of vehicles we could use. Hopefully we won't have to do the old fashion recon thing and walk and swim everywhere!" He said

he left the room leaning on the closed door letting her change in privacy.

"We defitily have a lot to work on. And I guess it all depends on what's going on here in lailand." He said to her from outside the thin wall.

Midnight shook her head. "Na, worst comes to I can steal a chopper and fly us there. B-back then, w-with them...My job was to scout out areas, and to fly us in and out of locations. Since I was never in the fight, me being, well...a sniper, I never had to worry about being injured and unable to pilot..."

Entering the room, she quickly ditched her civilian clothes and put on her uniform. The uniform itself looked perfect, but she felt odd wearing it. Sighing, she pushed past the feeling and looked on her left shoulder pad. There, sitting in plain sight, was a red trident. Small enough that you wouldn't notice it if you didn't know it existed, but if you knew it was there, made it clear where she had belonged. She opened the door and exited the room, giving Doc the room to change.

"The briefing will tell us what we need to know...hopefully"

Blackwing nodded, giving a thumbs up as he left the room. Black wanted to go check out the locker. He left the room, slightly laughing at the fact that the police were running past, having no idea that he was right there. He started jogging back to his room, and once inside he went straight to his uniform. His armor wasn't here, all his gear was in the armory, but his uniform was there. On the shoulder piece, the Golden wings with the knife in the middle, and right underneath the motto, 'Who Dares Wins'. He had trained in both regiments, but he was more at home with the SASR, choosing to wear their sign more then the other. He looked at the insignia, then walked out of the room, towards the armory.

Once at the armory, he started going through lockers, finding Gear locker four. He punched in the code, wondering what he was about to find.

Before doc went to the room he smiles "really? thats good to know, you never told me you could fly before."

He quickly pulled out his garrison uniform "field-the one you actually fight in. Usually has no metals or anything on it, just a practical pair of camo. And the garrison which is all nice and has your pins and medals on it.) after adjusting himself and blousing his boots he came out walking with her and said "well let's head over to s1." As they walked. He considered asking her more about her unit, her past. But he figured now was not the right time.he loved her; was it wrong to want to know more about her?

meanwhile

blackwing opened the door to see quite a few things. On the bottom was a few mundane but useful items, wipes, water tablets, and various comfort items like soap and baby powder.

Above it was some gear. And uniform items

but on top was a m32 grenade launcher! On the stock the word " Layla" was carved into it but otherwise it was clean and ready to use!

Midnight blushed slightly revealing she could fly. It wasn't a common skill, but she'd learnt choppers from her old team, and small planes from her family before she'd joined the military. While it wasn't the most relevant skill, it had been helpful a few times in the past. She nodded her head as Doc suggested they head to the briefing room.

"Yeah, the sooner we find out what's going on with our mission, the better. I don't know about you, but something tells me whatever is going on in Isialand, its big. Especially after last mission..."

(Time dialiation so blackwing can finish up what he's doing)

the whole time doc was expecting this meeting to be a standard briefing, but it was actually surprisingly intimate? The ops Cheif lead doc and midnight to an office "the co isn't exactly sure about this whole thing, but neither is anyone else in the world. I've been watching the news feeds and getting emails. Half the world wants to invade. The other half wants to just let it go. Ultimately we're going to act under the secretary of defense himself!" He said as he opened a door to an office. "The co will join you shortly"

inside the office it was decorated with memorabilia from all around the military, also several flags of foreign country's. He had some awards on display but the most interesting thing was surreal bear pelts on display in the walls. Doc looked around and sat down awkwardly in the large office "huh soo. He's been with all 3 recon divisions. Was in griffon stone when the attacks happened and was with the 3 when they were ambushed in Appaloosa. Has been shot twice. Been in Zebraland for a few years, And apparently he has a live long vendetta with bears!" said inquiring what he could from what he had to see.

Blackwing enteres

and a few minutes later the co comes in wearing a sweaty tank top and bdu pants. "Sorry I'm late. The armor guys were running an exercise and I didn't think it was hard enough so I took over." He said going to a closet and grabbing a towel "I'm sure you all are on edge about what's going to happen. So is the whole world. Thanks to you we can sweep the hostage situation under the rug." He came over and sat at his desk. "But we don't know what the next step of action is. U till then I'm forming your team the reapers into an organized unit. I've selected a team lead from 3rd force to assist you." He says festering to the door

a tall bearded marine holding a thermos comes in. His uniform is a bit dirty but not unprofessional. He sees blackwing and smiles "hey! I know you!"

When Blackwing entered, he was carrying a m23 grenade launcher, having it over his shoulder as he listened to the C.O. He didn't normally like explosive weapons, but this thing.... Black had a feeling he could have fun with this, if he could fit it into his gear load without it being a burdun. He listens, but when they say that a team lead had come to assist them, he was a little.... annoyed. The team so far had been specialists. He had a insane combat training run from two Special forces Regiments, Doc was heavily trained with medical and he was a good fighter from what Black had witnessed, and Midnight, well, she was probably the best shot with a rifle he had ever seen. More then once she had saved them with her skill during the last mission, and even when they had met, she had done well for a wounded sniper.

He didn't think that another person would be a asset, he considered it a hinder. He didn't want some washed up leader who was a snobby rule following idiot who didn't even know the first thing about going into missions like they did. Then, when the person walked through his attitude instantly changed.

"Surprised to see you here. So is Layla" He replies, just nodding back. He was quite glad that this guy was there backup. He hoped that with seven years experience, he would know what he was doing.

Midnight had stayed silent the entire time, listening to Doc rattle off commendation after commendation. Everything seemed like a screw up in her eyes. Reaper, her team, was composed of herself, Doc and Blackwing. Outside of her old team, she didn't know of anyone worthy to join. Doc was, despite being a medic (and a damn good one at that), was more than capable of holding his own in a gunfight. Blackwing had a few screws loose, but was a very capable soldier, not the best she'd seen, but high up there. Then there was her, in her opinion, the best sniper full stop. Upon hearing someone else was being added into the team, she shook her head. Even as she watched him enter, the guy from the firing range, she didn't like it.

"That's stupid!" She stood up, disregarding the fact he was the Co of the base "You don't even know the situation and you're attaching us some random? Given the last mission and how they're all dead, do you think it's a good idea throwing some run-of-the-mill nobody with us? All that's gunna happen is he'll end up dead!" she protested before flopping back down in her seat, her opinions on the matter clearly made. Part of her knew it would happen anyway, after all, despite the rank, Blackwing was in charge and the CO got to make the final call. Part of her hoped her rant would scare him off. She'd already had the team die, one being her fault involving Perry and her sniper rifle, but he should have kept his opinions to himself was all she had to say on that.

Doc was surprised to see this scruffy looking old man come in, he had his doubts based on his appearance but then blackwing talked to him in a manner that wasn't rude or have any implication of violence! That was even more surprising

then midnight had an ... Outburst. Doc at first want to get up and put his hand over her mouth like a father trying to stop his kid from saying something stupid. But he it was all embarrassing enough as it is. Doc rested his head in his hands not knowing what to do.

Dude smiled to black wing about to reply when midnight began her temper tantrum. Dude stayed silent and listened to her complaints. Some of them were legit. He looked to the co and the co nodded in a "let me handle this" kind of way. Dude would say that they were friends. They had worked togather a few times. Heck he was here as a favor for him, despite the implicate illegal implications of he was caught.

The co narrowed his eyes to the fierce little sniper and then relaxes saying "your concerns are not without validity. But first off; me and dude here are taking pains to keep you here. If we stop fighting and decide to let them take you who knows what will happen"

dude interupted "f-Ing a$$holes"

the co nodded "second. While you were dealing with the cia and there :$&?-show organization and mission planning. Dude has been doing survey of lailand. Right now no one is more qualified to do recon than him. And with his leadership experience. And his magnificent combat record ... Well I wouldn't say he's a ... Random." The co remained eerily calm the whole speech. It was kind of unsettling.

Dude shrugged and said "well ... Going to make me blush of you keep on complimenting me like that"

the he began  sliding some papers across his desk. Doc looked at them and read them Quickly

"congress is preparing for declaration of war on lailand. And we have the orders to be the spear head." He said Sumerians the reports. The co nodded

"it's a 50/50 chance but either way we need to be ready to do the recon we need to get the war started. We can suspect the next real answer in 3 days on whether we're fighting or not." Dude nodded "good 3 days to do work-up(training specifically for the mission your about to do)"

the co nodded. "By that time The reapers will be ready to go into the field and gather reconassance and Intell, if not I'll have no choice than to sack you all, and bring someone else."

Doc gulped, dude gulped. This was not going to be easy.

Midnight didn't like it, she felt they were almost blackmailing her to stay in some regard. They still had no idea what was going on and they were expected to spend 3 days training for something they couldn't predict? Not only that, but, urgh! She shook her head, obviously displeased at how things were running, but she knew it was pointless arguing with it. She'd lose one way or the other unless she pulled out her sniper, and murdering everyone in the room wasn't an option, this time.

She was about to open her mouth again before she realized it would probably be better if she didn't, after her last outburst she doubted they wanted her to speak again.

The co shook his head; "not an easy task. I know. But ... Somebody's got to do it. Until then we assume combat is immense and prepare accordingly."

dude looked to the group "well sorry to start things off on such a bummer. But hey my names will chill; don't call me gunny; just will or dude. And ummm yeah this is going to suck ... But I think we can make it work." He said optimistically.

Doc really didn't know what to think he stood up nodding. Dude then said "I was setting up an office for us. 3rd room on the right down the hall."

the co nodded "you are dismissed. I need to speak with dude." Doc somberly walked out the room holding the door for blackwing and midnight, but then he closed it and tampered with the key hole and stepped in place his steps getting lighter and lighter to simulate walking down the hall. So they could spy in on what they were saying

the co stood up and said to dude "I'm sorry. Still think you can use em?" Dude nodded "yeah sure man. I mean the sarc is cool. Blackwing ... As soon as we get over our difrent styles I'm sure we can work well togather ..." The co continued "and the sniper?" Dude wobbled his head back and fourth "well if she is ... Who you say she is. Then it's better to keep her on our side." The co shook his head "I'm thinking about giving her in" the dude nodded "that ... Won't be necessary." The co shrugged "you sure we only got one chance" the dude sighed "yeah ... I'm sure. So I got my plan and well... I'm going to talk to my new team!"

upon hearing that doc signaled hem to move it! He began tac-gliding running and keeping his feet silent to the room they were told to go too.

Doc couldn't help but smile. He, blackwing and midnight all running  down the hall kind of reminded him of being a kid running from an adult hoping not to get caught. It was a special cameradry only they felt for a moment.

the room they got in was bare bones for now. It had a large map of lailand on the wall some tables and an old coffe maker set up but that was it!
