She can be a little squeamish around icky things sometimes, like dirt and smelly garbage and big insects, but in contrast to that, she knows no reservation when it comes to the ill and wounded. Be it snot, drool, or even open wounds like a good (future) nurse, she just does was has to be done.

History: Nursery Rhyme grew up in a very loving family of earth ponies who are running a small family business in Ponyville. From a very young age, she reacted very strongly and positively to the songs her mother sang to her, causing her parents to choose her name. Being an only foal, and indeed the only foal in her extended family at the time, she enjoyed the attention of not only her parents, but also her aunts and uncles, and eve grand parents. This, however, caused her to be unusually shy when she started school.

On her first day of school, she was so excited that she forgot her brand new school books, and then was too shy to say anything to her teacher. So she ended up pretending her notebook was, in fact, the book in question, which was exceedingly embarrassing to her, especially since her teacher of course found out about it while roaming through the classroom.

For the first few days, she just sat on the steps of the Ponyville school during recess, and quietly ate her lunch, but she soon found that most of the colts and fillies were far less scary then she had originally thought. From that point forward, she enjoyed going to school, since it opened an entire, new circle of ponies to her, and she became more open to them with time.

The most pivotal moment in her young life was surely the hip injury of her favourite aunt Cotton Balls, who she has an uncanny resemblance to. She was rushed to he nearest hospital for an emergency operation, and young Nursery wouldn't leave from her side, even after the operation, when she was a little confused from the narcotics. She would sing her songs she remembered soothing her when she was little, and helped her with the hospital meals as good as she could. In fact, she did so well that one of the nurses offered her to come back and do some volunteer work in the hospital. And though the filly wasn't sure about it at first, she finally agreed.

And so she began helping out in the Ponyville hospital on the weekends. Of course, she wasn't allowed to do such things as administering medicine or changing bandages, but they did allow her to help prepare the patient's food and keep them company while everyone else was too busy with real nursing. And it turned out to be a blessing for Nursery as well. Working with so many different ponies, bringing them their food, and spending everyone a happy smile and getting one in return. All that really helped her opening up, both there and at school. However, cute as it might have been, the hospital staff was certain that this would only be a short-lived phase, and soon enough, the filly would find a new passion.

However, they would be proven wrong. It was one rather stormy night in early autumn, and Nursery has stayed late to keep two elderly mares company who rarely got visitors because their next of kin lived a long way away. Nights at the hospital were a little weird to her. There was only little staff present, and most of them were busy keeping the water out, since the roof had certainly seen better days. She wondered if she'd have to stay overnight as she trotted through the dimly lit corridor, and noticed a figure up ahead. A pony lay there, a few feet away from the entrance, wet from the rain, and covered with mud and dirt. Instinctively she cried out, and a nearby door opened, revealing one of the doctors on this floor. One look was enough to see what was going on.

The poor pile of pony on the cold hospital floor had one of his hindlegs broken, and rather badly at that. Thankfully for the poor filly dirt covered most of it, but his experience told him everything he needed in that moment. He'd have to operate, the sooner, the better, otherwise the poor stallion might loose his leg. He considered his options. If nopony else had reacted to little Nursery's scream, then they were probably all in the attic with pans and buckets, trying to keep the place from getting flushed away. But right here was the brave little volunteer, looking up to him expectedly, trusting him completely to know what to do. The doctor sighed. At least the patient had passed out. So he wouldn't have to waste time administering anaesthetics.

Putting one hoof on her shoulder, he explained to her that he'd need boiling water and blankets, scalpels and certain tools, and the filly just nodded and smiled. Because even though she hadn't been allowed to touch any of those things before, but she knew all of them from looking over the other nurses shoulders and asking questions. Even in the dim light she found what she needed almost effortlessly, and arranged it loosely on a tray. And it didn't take long for the water to boil either. After all, she had spent most of her time here helping in the kitchen.

Once she gathered all the different items the doctor needed, and after he helped him cleaning and drying their patient, he started with the operation. He had been correct. It was an open bone fracture, and a rather nasty one at that. Having only little choice, he asked the filly to hold the lantern, with inevitably put her right in sight of the wound. He was already prepared for the worst, but to his surprise, she didn't even flinch. In fact, her expression was almost serene. Dumbfounded by her display, he only snapped out of it after she asked him if anything was wrong.

The operation went surprisingly smooth all things considered, and even though it had looked pretty bad at first glance, it was nothing that a skilled surgeon couldn't handle. Plus, Nursery's presence had been strangely soothing to him as well. She had even handed him tools and bandages when he asked for them, and had at no point lost her composure. As he wrapped the last bandage around the patient's leg, he had to cover his eyes for a moment as a bright flash of light illuminated the corridor for the few seconds. To both of their surprise, Nursery Rhymes' cutie mark had appeared, a white cross with four grey hearts around it. And it was in the very same moment that the filly had made up her mind. Her future was in the hospital. She didn't know as what exactly, but she had felt at home here from the very beginning.

The stallion made a full recovery, and he and her parents and the entire hospital staff commended her on her bravery. After all, she had played a big part in saving somepony's leg, and her small chest puffed with pride. Though she'd never boast about something like that. The next week, she went to school like nothing happened, and the next weekend, she was right there in the hospital, doing the menial tasks she had done for the past few months, and having a friendly smile for everyone.

To the outside, she hadn't changed at all, but from that day forward, she always carried a first aid kit wherever she went, even to school. It was nothing spectacular, just a few band-aids and bandages, and simple ointments you could buy at any drugstore, but it was more then enough for any kind of school yard emergency.

Hey there! It's nice to meet you for the first time (I think), Davroth! Since we're aware of this app's history and the technical issue you had to deal with with a bug that's gone now. I'm gonna go ahead and move this on up for Senior review! The only thing I might change would be making "Lands of Equestria" To "World of Equestria" , but that's hardly anything huge worth bothering with. :)

I can't wait to see you in the world!
