Armoured Colt

My first shot at making armor! Obviously influenced from the royal Canterlot guard armor, but a bit simpler and with what I hope a dash of originality. I had alot of fun doing this, and Im definitely planning on re-visiting this concept again. Im somewhat satisfied with the armor's shine. I didnt want the colour to be flat and dull and wanted pretty pretty shiny shiny armor. This was really my first time doing anything with shine and shadow, but I think I did an okay job. I'll be working more with that later. The only thing that bothers me with this piece is the hair and tail, since it just looks so dull and boring. Laziness and me getting infuriated with Photoshop got in the way. xD

I find that it sometimes helps to keep the colors on a layer underneath the line art. Then I can use the magic wand too to select the areas that I want to put shadows or highlights on. (Also, locking transparent pixels will work in a pinch too, especially if each color is on its own layer.)
