  1. Last week
  2. I'm coming up to my 13th year playing this game. I'm not losing.
  3. “Me? I have been so very man places. I was born in the land of the tribes of the Upepo na Wimbo, and I walked all along the southern lands of Unyasi. Umm, then I saw the cities, but then I saw even bigger cities when I saw the town with the griffons. Clawifax! And Taraju, of course. But then we did the moving into Equestria and we lived in Manehattan and then Ponyville and I have seen, umm, I have seen Hoofington and Canterlot! Did you ever see the big Canterlot castle? It was so nice looking. Umm, and then I saw...I saw Cloudsdale in the sky, and smelled Trottingham, and the Velvet Strand, and then I saw Stalliongrad and now I am here! So many cities. This is such a big land!” She said in response to Crystal, nearly skipping alongside the pegasus as she excitedly spoke about every rock and pebble in existence. “Where have you been? Have you ever seen, umm, have you ever seen another crystal cities? Do all the crystals in the world come from here?” She asked as they waited for Mr. Kabra’za to finish with his cart. Then they could get food, and she was hungry! But then, something fun happened. Muziki was entranced as she watched Mr. Kabra'za go to work putting on a show. Muziki loved performance of all types and flavors, from the prestigious arts of dance and song to the fake fighting in ring and magic shows and all things in between. Talent was a wonderful thing to have but even better to share the fruits of it with others. At least, thats what her parents always told her and she believed they were right about everything but the best flavor of ice cream. Everypony knew the best flavor was rocky road and everything else was heresy time! With that said, she was enamored with his magical show. He detached his shadow used it to catch the shadow of his hat in place. Muziki immediately knew what this meant! She clopped her hooves together. “Ooh! Oooh! You are, umm, Witch Doctor!” She nodded happily, then turned to Crystal. “From shadow to light and hoof to heart/In the art of healing, he plays his part. With herbs and chants, he mends the weak/A touch of kindness, for those who seek. In the depths of night, his work begins/A dance with nature, free of sins. He whispers wisdom, old and smart/From shadow to light and hoof to heart. They are like, umm, if he is Path of Mirror? Reflectioning? That is, umm, like Pony Psychology. But magical!”
  4. ~~~Primrose~~~ Prim was stopped dead in her tracks when the pony in front of her instructed her to not pay. Was this a joke? Something that they could turn on STAR later? No... The look on Midnight's face was genuine. Still, she wasn't sure how Ice would react to that. She's expecting a mark on the ledger, and the lack of one would make it appear as though they hadn't stopped as instructed. "If that is what you wish, then we cannot force you to take payment. However, the commander is expecting to see record of the shop. If I could get a writ showing that you deferred payment, I would be most appreciative," she responded, listening as Midnight continued to say that she could help them load as well. She would nod when asked to be as quiet as possible to not disturb the other thestrals that were currently in the orchard eating. "We'll try to be as little of a distraction as possible," she finished, pointing to the fruit and then the boxes to silently give the order to begin the loading process.
  5. Accidental Allegro The look on Allegro's face suggested that he still wasn't a big fan of this idea. Something about what Sunny was suggesting didn't seem right to him and the urge to awkwardly shuffle around a little won out in the end. "I mean... if evil alicorns are so common can't we just... you know... find one? I mean if they're going to be trying to take the world over or something anyway, is provoking them to act sooner rather then later a terrible idea?" For some strange reason the mental image of finding a sleeping pony with wings and a horn that looked like Sunny, but with a completely black coat that they needed to awaken via poking them with a stick came to mind. Shaking his head slightly to get that image out, he decided to instead ask "So... let's say we go through with this idea and you dress yourself up. Are you... just planning on walking down the street, laughing evilly and announcing for all to hear that you intend to take over the world?"
  6. Kabra'za was more then happy to take a small detour in order to hook himself back up to his wagon in order to pull it to more secure pastures... even if that pasture was simply Crystal's yard. Muziki however asked a rather interesting question through, which caused him to chuckle softly. "A parking ticket is a means in which local law enforcement helps inflate their paychecks via making others pay bits. It is of vital importance to them and thus, the duty of finding and handing out tickets is generally reserved for those with eagle eyed vigilance and a dedication to duty that borders on callousness. Empathy, after all, is a weakness in their eyes because it means they might not give someone a ticket." Looking at Muziki again once he finally parked the wagon, he offered the filly a grin. "Of course I keep a mask ya salamu. Some traditions need to be preserved after all..." before he paused as he glanced at Crystal and his grin turned into something more akin to a smirk. "Would the two of you be interested in seeing something cool?" Not really giving either of them time to answer (assuming that at least Muziki would be curious in that child like manner), he made a small show of gesturing towards his shadow... before he calmly took a step to the right while his shadow stepped to the left, disconnecting from his body completely as the two walked a few strides away from each other. Once a respectful distance, Kabra'za calmly removed his hat... and like a disc he threw it towards where his shadow was. Said shadow seemed to reach up to grab at the shadow of the hat as it flew by... and the hat stopped dead in midair, as if being held there. Waiting a moment to make it clear that this wasn't a trick, the hat moved slightly as the shadow drew its hoof back and threw the hat back to Kabra'za, who happily caught it and returned it to his head. A smile on his face, both him and shadow walked back towards each other before reconnecting as if they had never parted. "Ta da."
  7. Earlier
  8. Crystal smiled at Windy "I'd love to show you too around here, it'd be my pleasure!" "I have seen quite a few love stories, I can tell usually if two ponies are meant to be, like you two are definitely meant to be!" Crystal then looked to Sky "I'd love to swap sappy stories with you, I enjoy writing poetry in my spare time, but I barely get that anymore, so my notebooks just laying in my floor" she smiled and then continued "Poetry is music for me, as I cannot sing at all, that's why I write!"
  9. Crystal would smile "I never get tired of the crystals, they are beautiful, I don't think I'll ever move to be honest." Crystal would turn her head to Kabra'za and say "Princess Cadence lives here in the Crystal Empire, she's also a cupid!" Crystal would smile as she lead them to her home where Kabra'za could leave his car "So, where all have you two traveled?" Crystal asked kindly.
  10. She was very happy to hear that it did not rain crystals. While that certainly would have made for a very fun bout of souvenir collecting, she doubted her noggin could take the beating without her going all cattywampus. If that was true, then where did all the crystals come from? Did they grow like leaves, or did you have to plant them? Were there special crystals seeds that the crystal ponies used to grow crystal trees? She assumed it was magical because everything in Equestria was magical. Even the water you purchased at the market, it was super magical! The stallions in white and blue stripes back in Las Pegasus had sold her super magical water for a lot of bits! It tasted like really good water, but she was sure that the water would make her super smart. “It is a very pretty city. It has so many crystals! I bet all you ponies up here, umm, I bet you’re super duper tired of them, right?” She said as she skipped along. “Oh! Princess Mi Amore- I saw, I saw her daughter and her husband back in Las Pegasus. We were buying candy and I was the big candy winner and that made me so happy, and the little Princess was nice but I think I super impressive her with my big candy winning! And her father, he seemed very excitable about this mare there, and also I think the princess wanted my candy,” she said in a stream of conscious as she followed the Crystal. As she did so however, Mr. Kabra'za said something that made her puzzled. She gave it some deep, deep thought before she asked. “What’s a parking ticket? Do you, umm, is it like a prize? They don’t give us prizes like that. We head to, we head behind the tavern near the woods with cart. Hey Mr. Kabra'za, umm, do you keep mask ya salamu in your cart like we do?”
  11. Midnight would nod and lead Prim to the barn with supplies "Also, dont pay me, it's my pleasure to help y'all, I never nake anyone pay for anything!" Midnight said continuing to lead Prim to the barn. As Prim and Midnight came to the barn, Midnight said softly "Take whatever you need, I'll help you all load it up." Midnight had no doubt in her mind that they didn't need her help after all, Midnight wasn't very strong. Midnight watched Prim go and look for the supplies, as Prim walked away, Midnight said in a loud whisper "Try and be a little quiet, there are some bats in here eating, they dont like to be disturbed!" Midnight nodded before sitting down on the barn floor.
  12. ~~~Primrose~~~ Primrose listened to the pony soak before returning to an at ease posture. She would nod as Midnight said that she was happy that she didn't hurt her trees. "Of course. We wouldn't Equestrian Protectors if we caused a burden to those we aimed to protect," the burgundy Thestral smiled. She then turned to one of her subordinates. "Lieutenant Flare, have the crew start gathering the crates that need filled. Jennings, now that we are on the ground, go to med bay and See if Field Medic Archwing needs any additional supplies and see if you can procure them from the local hospital, only if they can spare them. If not, we will rendezvous with another hospital in a future location, and Petty Officer Foresight... Make sure Cinnamon doesn't light the kitchen on fire... again..." Prim commanded as her crew moved to follow her orders now leaving her with the owner of the orchard. "I would be happy for whatever supplies you would be willing to sell to us. Mostly we just need to shore up our food supplies. Unless we need to press for medical supplies it's unlikely that we will be close to a village or a city for a while. Such is the life when you are on Equestrian Patrol most of the time. That being said," Prim gestured politely with a hoof. "I will follow you, Ms. Cloud. For it is you that knows where we need to go."
  13. "A cupid in pony form?" Sky's eyes brightened, as the introverted and somewhat day-dreamy stallion came to a rare state of full and sharp attention. "I'm sure you must have seen quite a few sweet stories in your time. Be happy to swap sappy love stories, if you're interested; it's one of the subjects I love writing songs about!" Not to mention, he always loved to tell the story about how he and Windy met, though he couldn't remember if it was his turn or her turn to buttonhole perfect strangers with their love story. "A local tour would be great, too." He nodded in agreement with Windy, beginning to clean off his plate and drain his cup of tea. "I actually know a thing or two about crystals, at least the kind they use for sound synthesis and resonance. It's gotten a lot easier for me to build my instruments since the crystal trade opened up between the Empire and Equestria. It's everything else about your hometown that you'll have to point out."
  14. Kabra'za politely tipped his hat towards Crystal and her offer. "I may take you up on that. Through I should relocate my wagon there before we go get something to eat. I don't need to start my visit to the Crystal Empire with a-" Kabra'za had been about to say a rather naughty word in his native tongue, but remembered just in the nick of time that there was an impressionable young child that understood the mother tongue nearby. "-... annoying parking ticket." Clearing his throat a little, he recovered a bit as he tilted his head in confusion. "I'm sorry... Princess Cadence? I am not familiar with that name."
  15. Midnight looked at the bat pony, how lovely she looked the armor and all the leadership that she had in her "Well, thank you for not hearing my trees, I really appreciate it" Midnight said smiling. They was needing to restock that's why they were here that made so much more sense "Well, there are all kinds of supplies in the barn, don't be shy to grab a bite to eat on the way over there if you'd like I can take you and your crew to the barn and show you the best apple trees!" Midnight said excitedly smiling she looked at the crew they all obviously respected Primrose and she was indeed a strong leader.
  16. It was indeed a rare day that Shining Armor was the last to wake up of his family; oftentimes habit alone had him up at reville, sometimes he even did a personal troop inspection at turnout if he was up early enough to dress for it. But, last night had been a bit tiring with paperwork and other matters, and just by coincidence that happened to be the day that Flurry was so excited to wake up. The stallion stirred amidst the sheets, at first groggily concerned about the empty bed, though smells of varying degrees of appetizingness from the kitchen was enough to clue him in of what was likely going on. The burnt toast left by the bedside, too. *So my little Fluffalump is starting her lessons today with cooking?* Rather incautiously, he took a bite of the charcoaled bread; in Shiny's defense, he hadn't had his coffee yet. *Ech... probably best used as grill fuel for later.* He was a good enough dad, though, to refrain from commenting once he heard the returning footsteps of his daughter. Sitting up, he smiled at Flurry Heart as he slipped out of bed, running a hoof through his mane to smooth it down. "Ah, good morning Flurry! Excited for today?"
  17. Cadance didn’t need Alicorn senses to smell the results from her daughter’s attempts at toast. It was very cute that she wanted to help- cooking was an excellent skill that all ponies should learn, at least the basics, and she wondered briefly if she would enjoy the day if that was the topic of Flurry’s education. Of course, the filly would be very disappointed to have gotten so ‘jazzed up’ only to learn how to cook some simple breakfast items. “An omelet does sound good. A nice cheese and dandelion omelet would hit the stomach just right. Flurry, can you get the plates?” She offered, letting the filly out of her wings as she took everything needed for the omelet and went to work. It was an easy breakfast. Most pegasi learned to cook primarily with their wings and hooves working in unison, but she had been raised and learned to cook by earth ponies and so she was very much a mare working with her hooves. Her wings and horn came in once in a while, but there was something instinctual about using her hooves. She always believed that the magic of the earth ponies was more subdued but worked through the effort and care they put into what they did. Maybe it was just her, but Earth pony made food just tasted better, preserved better. “You'll need lots of energy today, that much is true. As for beams, perhaps, but maybe not. There is a lot to learn about higher level magic, after all...pew pew and otherwise,” she chuckled. “There is a lot more to defending our subjects than magical laser beams...though that doesn’t hurt. Well, it does, but you know what I mean.” As she continued cooking, she did a quick inventory of time even as the inventory of the kitchen was splayed out in front of her. Shining woke up most mornings before her. Habit of being a Guard Captain, she supposed. “He should be up soon,” she said before giving it some more thought. She turned to Flurry and smiled, “actually, while I make breakfast- let's not tell the staff- could you go fetch your father?”
  18. Flurry was surprised by a familiar wing embrace as she heard her mother's voice. "I....um.... yes please. I though you and Dad where still asleep. I though since I was up early I could try my hoof at breakfast. The second batch of toast turned out better at least. I was hopping to give the burnt pieces to Dad.... At least I didn't mess up the cereal." Flurry would look away from her mess in the kitchen. Giving her mother the sad eyes, she'd ask. "Do you know how to make cheese omelets? From the book I was reading, it says magic takes a lot of energy and we'll need a lot today." "Speaking of today, what spells am I going to learn? I hope the 'pew pew' spell is on of the first ones. Gotta learn to defend the Crystal Empire. Then maybe I can show Aunt Twilight all the stuff I've leaned on her next visit." Flurry would tap her chin for a moment. "So, when dose Dad normally wake up?"
  19. ~~~Primrose~~~ From the time that it took for Prim and the rest of the crew to get from the bridge to the departure bay, they could already hear the aether powered engines powering down. As the ramp made contact with the ground, a rush of dust kicked up around them as they made their way out. In front of them now stood another Thestral. She had a pure white coat with a scattering of black spots, and a crescent moon as a cutie mark. There was more to it, but from there and that Prim was standing that was all that she could make out. When the Thestral spoke to them, she would move to attention and give the mare in front of them a salute by bringing her right hoof over her chest. "Greetings, fellow pony of the night. Midnight you say? Tis apparently a common name amongst us. I am Primrose Valkyria, of the Valkyria Clan, and the current captain of this fine vessel you see behind me. In fact, the vessel is why we are here. Normally Commander Storm has STAR vessels restocking through Sweet Apple Acres. Given that The Lunar Star operates entirely under Luna's moon, it is not possibly for us to resupply at that location and was directed to another orchard that also operated at night. We landed here hoping this was the correct one. We also did our best to keep the ship clear of the trees as to not damage them," she informed.
  20. Midnight looked around watching all the bat ponies that she could see eating "Wow what a beautiful night it is tonight!" Midnight said softly. Just as Midnight said this she looked up and noticed that a big object was flying towards her orchard "What is that!" Midnight exclaimed. As she kept her eyes on the huge object she saw as it came closer that it was a ship "Oh, it's a ship, maybe there will be bat ponies on it who will want something to eat, I sure hope so!" Midnight smiled while saying this. After the plane had landed, midnight flew overy to the ship and waited to see who was on it, after a bit someone walked off the ship "Hello there, my name is Midnight Cloud Welcome to my orchard!" Midnight smiled as she said this.
  21. Princess Cadance had woken up early that morning herself, though for entirely different reasons than her very reasonably excited daughter. There was always the business of governance to be done and as the winter marched inescapably towards spring, she needed to prepare the Crystal Empire for the changing seasons. She often enjoyed the crisp, cool air that snapped just before it became uncomfortable, letting her feathers free to feel the bite of the cold. It was nice. She enjoyed the winter. She was fond of all seasons as their charms had found themselves entrenched in her, one way or another. But winter? Winter she liked the best, and as it drew shorter and the days longer it was harder and harder to find that right bite. And so she had awoken early and went to a secluded part of the castle, to a balcony rarely used. Some time to sit back and feel the cold, watch over her beloved empire and the subjects for whom she cared so deeply, and prepare herself for the day to come. Every day was an important day, but today was special. It was a day that meant a lot to her because it meant a lot to her family, and the meaning imparted therefore was absolute. She needed this time less, therefore, to prepare herself for duty or to steel herself for a job, but rather...to calm her haunches, because she didn’t want to be more excited than her own daughter was! In time she made her way back inside and once deeper in the castle she smelled something burning. The only staff at the castle at this hour would be those working in the Royal Administrative Quarter- a dreary place if such could exist in an empire of crystals- and the Guards. Certainly no cooks- well, she could tell that much just by the fact it was toast that was being burnt to a crisp. She followed the smell until she was in the kitchen. Where she found to absolutely no one’s surprise, her daughter excitedly preparing for her day. “Well, I’d say excited to...I don’t know, should I guess?” She said as she came from behind her daughter and gave her a half hug while looking around, her smile warmer than the flaming toast. “Are you hungry, Flurry?”
  22. Flurry Heart's eye shot open even before her alarm went off. "Today is the day!" she'd exclaim as she shot out of bed. It was like Hearthswarming, except better. Today was the day she'd start to learn advanced magic! A odd quiet hung over the Crystal Castle as she could hear every tick of her clock. What time was it anyway, she would wonder. Walking over to her balcony, she'd open the curtains and open the door with her gold aura. When she saw sunlight barely begin to crack the horizon she'd sigh deeply. "Ugh. Everypony is still asleep," as she rolled her eyes. "I wonder who's supposed to teach me today anyway? Mom? Dad? Maybe Aunt Twilight? That'd be fun." she'd say to herself. It had been a while since she had seen her aunt. With time to kill, Flurry had an idea....well her stomach had an idea. Flurry would find herself in an empty kitchen as her stomach rumbled. Being up before the staff had even arrived created a bit of a problem, though as a princess, it was her job to fix problems, right? Before long, the smell of burnt toast was lofting from the kitchen. "Hmm, next batch will be better," as she put butter on it and placed it on a tray. With a tray now loaded with butter heavy toast, she'd eat a few pieces herself before making her way to her parents bedchamber. The door would open with a creak and let just enough light in to show her silhouette as the smell of the burnt toast would entrance the room. "Guess what day it is!" Flurry would say excitedly, waiting for her parents to awaken.
  23. ~~~Primrose~~~ The night was glorious. It always was aboard The Lunar Star. The ship sailed silently through the air, though the moon from The Nightmother didn't do it any favors as far as stealth goes. Of course, the wasn't too much of a need for stealth over mainland Equestria. Perhaps if their patrol route took them towards Equestrian borders, then maybe. As it was, this close to Canterlot and over Ponyville and around pretty populated areas, being too stealthy could turn into a bad thing. Luna's moon might be in the sky, but it wasn't late in the slightest, even by a day walker's standards. Because of this, Pegasi could still be in flight and with no height limits on flying, the ship needed to be burned to avoid pegasi from flying into it and crashing either on the ship, or more horrifically, on the ground. A crash on this ship would cause injuries to both crew and the pony that crashed, but a point that crashed into the ship and plummeted to the ground would almost certainly sustain life threatening injuries if they weren't caught. "Captain, we're approaching Ponyville, and Sweet Apple Acres. Should we begin our descent?" The Helmemare asked. Primrose nodded in affirmation. "Take us down, but not too Sweet Apple Acres. Commander Storm mentioned a new Orchard here in Ponyville that is open during the overnight hours. We will let the air family reset after what we likely a hard day's work for them." Primrose responded. "Aye, I have a visual on the second orchard as well. Beginning descent." "There, set it down outside of the treeline. We don't want to damage the property, and our destroyer is bigger than it seems." "Aye ma'am," the crew responded "Make sure the landing gear is down and locked. Specialist Jennings, keep an eye on the ground radar. Make sure where we're landing is free is ponies. Be prepared to lower the boarding path once we are in the ground. Divert per from the aether core to the bottom thrusters to slow or descent," Prim ordered, going through her basic landing procedures. The rest of the crew replied I'm kind and wouldn't a few minutes, they felt the familiar thud of the ship's supports touching the ground.
  24. (sorry for the delay on things, life got busy with a move) ~~~Wind Dancer~~~ Wind couldn't help but smile a bit more when she heard the crystal pony, who was ironically named Crystal, said that she was a big fan of hers, and giggles a bit as she acknowledged her waffle joke. She also listened as Sky introduce himself, saying that they naturally worked together. Considering they were husband and wife, that was kind of a given. He also explained that they were taking a brief vacation while looking for a location for a possible show, and then asked what the pony did. From what she explained, she seemed to be a match maker pony. "Oh, you help ponies find their soulmates. That sounds, both fun and unnerving at the same time. I imagine you can tell by looking say a couple of they are meant to be. Something like that could pretty frustrating," she started "As far as a tour of the city, I was hoping a local would stop by and offer to do just that. Other than the giant spire castle in the center of the city... We... Kinda don't know where anything is at. We kinda followed our noses to get here " Wind laughed. "In return, next time you're in Las Pegasus, I can get your an all access pass to one of our shows," she smiled.
  25. ~~~Primrose~~~ "I wouldn't say that she only selects the best. One of the biggest things about STAR is its inclusiveness of everypony and that helps give it its strength," Prim replied to Luna. "I would say, however, that Commander Storm has the best training program that I have seen in any military force... Even yours... I don't mean that in a negative way, the Royal Guard is great training for making soldiers, and protecting the citizens of Equestria, but, not everypony is cut out to be a guard, and The Lunar Guard doesn't allow ponies with disabilities despite their possible strength because they are always looked down of as a liability," she explained. "For Commander Storm, she takes note of disabilities that are present, and does her best to keep everypony in positions where they can excel despite their condition. As in sure you're aware, Commander Storm has quite the condition herself, as well as most of her personal entourage. Commander Shadowfire has crack in her horn that sometimes makes her magic unpredictable, and Specialist Vision is legally blind, but is arguably the most important pony to have on missions that require locating, and either acquiring or destroying potentially dangerous magic because while she can't see objects, she can see magic. Which is also helpful against creatures that are disguised with illusions and changing magic. They can't get past her." "Others get trained for what they hope to accomplish within the organization, and are catered to their strengths. Many are perfectly happy getting a proper education and working/living in the casino. Commander Storm has the first three floors reserved specifically for ponies that work on the base, both underground and in the casino proper. And that is why I'm honored to be under her command. She sees Equestria differently than most ponies, and the fact that I am not treated any differently here despite what I am only further shows how inclusive STAR is. Even in the guard we were looked down on by anything that wasn't also a Thestral," Prim finished on that. She then paused for a bit while their orders were placed. Her eyes went wide as she watched the preparations. The hot dog put on the bun, and then smothered in the chili and the beans, and then further smothered in a very unhealthy, but delicious amount of cheese. The sight was enough for her to give into her racial nature and let out a squee in excitement. She loved the chili dogs here. It was one of the reasons why this was her favorite place in Las Pegasus. When she heard Luna ask if she would like to join herself and Midnight in her penthouse in Commander Storm's casino, her excitement squeaked through again, and she responded. "I would love to, once we finish eating of course. I usually come down here to unwind a bit. There are a lot of fun street acts down here under the archway. I'm actually surprised I don't see Blue Note here. He's usually playing his saxophone right down the road there," she said pointing off a bit. "But I have a weeks worth of leave before The Lunar Star is finished with her maintenance order and resupply, so I have plenty of time to come back here. It's not every night somepony gets invited by The Nightmother," Prim smiled.
