  2. Hey, since it is neither confirmed not denied in the show, and it seems relevant to or rp, I'm curious about the way you've done your versions of the characters Rarity and Spike. Is Rarity aware of the extent of Spike's feelings, and how does she feel about it. Just curious. Answer or not at your discretion. ^v^ PS. I've added a link to this discussion in the main post of the rp for convenience. and vice versa.
  3. //oh, my gosh. I completely forgot about the offer. I feel stupid lol// "Ha ha! Yeah, thanks. We have of course our actors," he began explaining "Stage Lights who is a phenomenal manager and organizer, Thunderhoof is incredibly strong, and he does a really spectacular job making props and sets. Spring Breeze is the artist, everypony has a second job they perform. Most of us, it's our special talent that we contribute. Although, mine is acting, so it's different for me. I mostly do public relations. Spreading the word and getting ponies interested." He also looked at the sun and frowned "The day sure gets away from you when you're talking with friends, huh Rarity?" Then he quickly amended, feeling like he'd been presumptuous "That is, I hope you would consider us friends? Yeah, I really ought to get going on my list, if you could point me to the close....est...." he, too, noticed Spike coming up and at first was intrigued at the notion of meeting a dragon for the first time, but the mention of his name as well as seeing him come closer into view changed his perspective "Spike? A pleasure to meet you!" he greeted "If I'm not mistaken, you're Princess Twilight's faithful assistant, and also the first Dragon to make friends with ponies! What a real treat it is to see you!" He smiled warmly at the Dragon "In fact, I seem to remember a rather large statue when I visited the Crystal Empire." He gave him a wink "And" he added "How can I not know the Dragon who shingle-hoo-... clawed-ly spearheaded the change in Equestria's opinion on changelings? It's because of you, Spike, that I don't have to hide, anymore." His coat, mane and eyes soundnessly faded through several colors, before returning to normal, then he bowed to spike "It is with great pleasure that I can finally offer my sincerest thanks. I am eternally grateful for the service you have done me, and those others like me, Spike. You are truly a hero. Glorious and brave." He winked at the reference to the Crystal Empire's title for him. Then Flaire remembered suddenly "Oh, my! I'm terribly sorry, Spike! You came for a reason. Um, perhaps we can talk while we walk to the nearest printing press?"
  4. Rarity was certainly pleased with the show bill as soon as she took it in her magic to look over. "You all look just fabulous!" She smiled and conveyed the bill back into Flaire's possession. "You certainly do have many talents in your crew darling! Actors, designers, artists. I'm already so tickled to be able to watch your troupe preform." She glanced at the sun as it dropped a bit lower down. "I'm not sure how long your list is, but you should know most of the shoppes in town close up around sunset." She mentioned the information in a helpful manner, hoping he'd have time to get everything he needed. The unicorn also noted that he didn't take her up on her offer to lodge the crew behind her boutique. Rarity figured Flaire had things under control in this department though and could figure that out on his own. She readied herself to be on her way when she noticed Spike making his way back towards the boutique. "Spike! What are you doing back here?" She looked on in concern as the dragon trotted quickly up to her. "Is something the matter dear?" "Rarity!" He paused for a breath, obviously winded from running from the castle. "Twilight wants to know if-" He stopped short, realizing he'd gotten in the way of a conversation. "Oh my gosh! I'm sorry! I didn't realize you were talking to somepony!" He offered a claw to Flaire. "Hi there! I'm Spike!"

    Woah! She’s gorgeous!
  7. "Wow....Sounds like you have a future in Tartarus if you continue your little not-making spree that is.", the dragon said with a playful wink. She had also been a harden criminal when it came to beds, but eventually changed her ways when her pillow started to lose its form. Making one's bed everyday helped to keep her pillow in it's proper shape, and it was hard to read with a squished pillow. Still, like her bunk-mate Ocellus, a 'bed-room' or even a room was still very new to her. She was used to an cave. Kept her out of the rain, and larger dragons could not get in and mess with her stuff. "Well, it's a combination.....Poetry and music...", Smolder was able to learn a little about her brother's unique style during one of her little library stays. Originally she just enjoyed listening to her older sibling's poems for a source of amusement. "It's called 'Beat poetry'. It's spoken to match music that is played during the recital. Usually with these cute little 'bongo' drums." One of these days she'll have to figure out where he picked this up. From what she had read, this form of poetry was started way over in San Franciscolt. Maybe a passing trader or explorer stumbled upon Garble. "My brother really got into his poetry but was TERRIFIED of performing in front of his so-called friends, so I was his one and only audience member until recently....", she sighed, "During my last trip we managed to convince him to say 'soot' to all that and that he was free to express his way even if his jerk-head friends didn't like it, which beat poetry was about anyways...Questioning society's norms. Digging your own path. Costumes were also very important for some reason...Oh...", and before she forgot, "We also saved a whole clutch of dragon eggs in the process." The little pony asked a few questions about the tree-house. "Yeah it has running water...I never questioned where it comes from or where it goes...", she shivered, "I'm assuming it's all the same magic building stuff that made Headmare Twilight's castle. Which I heard came fully furnished. As for our place...No on the bedrooms, although we do have a little area with a couch that could be use for naps." Just as long as you can kick Gallus off it that is. She was rather surprised to hear what the colt had just confirmed. He dressed as a filly-super-model. He was dainty enough to pass this off, especially when dressed and made up properly. Would he be able to continue this once he got older? Stallions tended to be a bit more boxy, barrel-shaped than mares. Still, he gave her something and he needed to return the favor. Quid pro quo as they would say. "Erm.", Smolder glanced around to see if anyone was lurking nearby. Nope. They were all alone. "Since you've been honest.....And told me that...Er..", a light blush fell on her cheeks. "I really enjoy having tea-time..." There she said it! "Not just sitting around sipping Black tea from a coffee cup in your underwear...But the whole thing....The exquisite clothing...The little cakes..The polite conversations....the whole relaxed atmosphere....Since it's just so much, I haven't told my friends that...Not yet...Although they might already know about it." Especially if a certain griffon blabbed about it. "Whew.", she gasped, "Felt good to get that off my chest.."

  12. Rarity held her tongue for a while, though she was intimately familiar with the sort of shock and awe she could have on certain types of ponies. Indeed, it was hard for her to walk the streets of Manehattan at times when she had made sure to dress her best and attract attention to her shop. She loved it. Fashion was all about making a statement and she always made sure the statements she made were heard loud and clear and with nothing to stop her. How ponies reacted also became statements of their own. Applejack's statement was...a little more than confusing, if she had to be perfectly honest. She'd seen Rarity dress like this before, hadn't she? Had to be a good sign then. She must really have outdone herself on this design! “Why thank you, Apple Bloom. I certainly do feel, how does the phrase go, like a million bits at the saloon,” she said with a laugh, throwing back her mane. “Which is how well I expect Applejack to feel after she wins today's Rodeo. Any other fine competitors today, or are you the belle of this roughhousing brawl?” She said with some satisfaction. Pinkie Pie may have been the pony with the perfect puns but rarity found time in her articulation and sophistication to slip in a few of her own from time to time. The train had by now come to a complete halt, and Applejack had offered to get their bags. How considerate! “Oh, that would be delightful Applejack. Thank you so very much. Don't pull any muscles now, don't want to see you sidelines when this should be your moment of glory!” She intoned as a pair of designer sunglasses found their position on her head, and she trotted out into the Appleloosan countryside. Like many western towns on the old Equestrian frontier, it had a rustic charm about it that was vanishing from the rest of the developing nation. The hard work, dedication, and risk it took to survive and thrive out here were leaps and bounds ahead of anywhere else. While such ponies were not as rare as they used to be, what with Equestria growing larger and her borders expanding by the day, the fact they were so different only made it feel all the more appealing. The dichotomy was as wondrous as the fact that the town mimicked Equestria; every time she visited, she saw new faces, new building, new businesses, and new signs of growth. Had a designer settled here? If not, well, Fashion For You certainly shared the same expansionist ethos... That was later. For now, she had a very enthusiastic stallion to greet. “Braeburn!” she said warmly, giving Applejack's cousin a hug and a friendly kiss on both cheeks in greeting. “How have you been? It certainly looks like Appleloosa is growing quickly. No doubt thanks to your excellent Apple family apple orchards!” she said as she looked around. Of course it was a bit of flattery, some theater, but It was true. Appleloosa wasn't famous for much else aside from its tart apples and being the only town in traditionally Buffalo territory. Only one of them was something the town could honestly benefit from. It wasn't the friendly Buffalo tribes who still had their own land, that was for certain. Hmm, why didn't they have any Buffalo students at the School of Friendship? It would seem only natural, no? She'd have to ask Twilight about that. The topic soon shifted as to what they wanted to do. For Rarity, the answer was rather simple, so thank heavens the burden of decision making had fallen on her supple frame. “Oh, I haven't had a bite to eat in a while, but I do believe we need to get Applejack all squared away as it were. I'd hate for the time to fly and for us to miss some important doo-dad or another on account of our ravenous appetites. Isn't that right, Applejack?” She poked her friend with a smile, both of them fully aware that Applejack's intense eating habits before competition were warranted, indulgent, and time-consuming activities all the same.
  13. Valen could only describe himself as feeling...well, indescribably awful. It felt like speaking with Applejack was having the opposite of the desired effect. She was set in her ways, set in her spirit, and set in her thoughts on the matter. Valen sighed. He had come here seeking aid and found that, while indeed he would get some basic aid against Silver and some help calming the CMCs down, the larger battle being waged was already lost on one front. It was the most important front and one he didn't really want to think about, but if...no, he had to remain on target. “I see...” he started with a resigned sigh, “be that as it may, thank you for your help in dealing with Silver Spoon and the Crusaders. I have other ponies I must speak with. Have a good work morning, cousin,” he said firmly but politely, giving his traditional Manehattan sendoff of a courtesy bow before turning around and trotting quickly away from Sweet Apple Acres. In short time he was out of Sweet Apple Acres and skirting around the town, because he had already decided who he was going to see next. So he had Silver Spoon under control a little, but could always use more help. She was very manipulative. Scootaloo listened to Rainbow Dash and while she was the only one of the three to have reservations about what was happening- as much as the second round had annihilated that- it was good to have an additional backup. Rainbow Dash also had Applejack's ear more than most, perhaps enough to speak to her. Doubtful, sure. But some progress was better than none and right now she was his current best hope. Valen trotted determinedly towards Rainbow's house, located about a mile away from Ponyville. It was about that time when the first raindrops fell from the sky, helping to accentuate his mood. “Great. I can't believe I forgot the weather schedule...” he sighed, picking up the pace. It was a small but violent storm front that was going to give the farmlands some dreadfully needed moisture. One of the many great things about Equestria was that you could look up weather schedules months in advance. He had no excuse except...okay, between the CMC, Silver Spoon, identity questions, and a busy work schedule not to mention school and helping cousin Applejack, he perhaps had good cause. Perhaps. Maybe. By now he was in a full gallop, and the rain was in full force. It didn't take much convincing for his hooves to bring him within eyesight of Rainbow's floating castle, self-made and as cocky as the mare who made it. “Rainbow! Miss Rainbow Dash!” Valen yelled as his hooves started to find solid ground where once mood stood, standing as he was in the protective aegis of Rainbow's structure. He whipped his mane around and blinked the water out of his eyes, looking about for signs of the cyan mare. “I have need to speak with you, please, if you have the time!” He yelled while still keeping that proper tone well-equipped. No reason to start off on a bad hoof, even if Rainbow was unlikely to be deeply chagrined.

  15. “I’m not gonna drink any soapy water.”, the cat groaned, “I was over-heard saying one of the seven bad words out-loud and my mom told me if she caught me saying one again, she’d wash my mouth out with soap." Once she was properly clean, the cat made her way out of the tub and promptly shook off the excess water. “Hey!”, the dragon yelped as most of the water found its way onto the small creature. Served her right for tooting in the water! “Oddly enough, we only have six bad words.”, she grumbled as she removed both the water and little cat hairs that found its way onto her scales. “Mom’s don’t care if we say those.....Fluffy....Cute....Puppy....Bombsy Wombsy....jiggly....and frappujacku....Ooooh...So bad..", Once dry, she found a small brown pillow case. This would make an replacement cloak! "I don't think those are the words..", Thrilly went through her luggage, "I tried living the nudist pony life, but I just can't....I can at least cross that off my buck-list. Wander through a major city au naturel. Ooh!", there was a pair of blue overalls that she quickly threw on. She could not help but smile as the pony rolled with laughter. She glanced over at the building the Pegasus pony pointed at. "Oh yeah, they usually have a little curry wagon at our circus...I like the Goan Fish Curry....Num Num Num Num.", she glanced at the mirror while she gave herself a quick brush. "I do like the elephant sign....Reminds me of home....", she sighed. She really missed her family already. A few strokes and brushes later, she was good as new. The pair (or at least just Thrilly) waited patiently for Daze to dry off and properly prepare herself. "Feel free to use whatever you want...", There were an assortment of perfumes and sprays made for mares. Along with the usual care products. All in tiny bottles of course.
  16. Cute episode. Luna proved even ponies should wearing bathing suits while at the beach. Cause ouch. And also lotion.
  17. "Oh, yeah?" Well, from the sound of it, the drink certainly seemed. . . Involved. In all honesty, Candy Cain had never had anything too intense before. Only a select few adult beverages, really. And even those had been pretty tough for Cain to keep down, let alone endure the following day. When it came to drinking, Cain was the worst. Still, this one certainly sounded like it'd be a treat. Maybe Cain would even get inspired by the taste. The stallion finally nodded, an awkward half-grin on his face. "Yeah, the Son of a Son of Som. . . Y-Yeah, that. I appreciate the suggestion, ma'am." It was always best to keep the bartender content; After all, they were serving you inebriants. It didn't seem likely, but Cain didn't want to end up on the floor because he'd provoked someone int serving him something strong. Still, Cain couldn't shake the feeling that he'd already done something wrong. He couldn't place it. Cain turned away from the bartender (hopefully) before the worry showed on his face, directing his full attention to the two ponies by the fire. Trotting over and sitting down, Cain listened to the story Wind Walker had heard from a colt that had wandered off somewhere. His smile seemed a bit strained from time to time as he tried to follow the story. Was the story about Wind Walker's dad with a scar? Or some other stallion? Still, Cain politely sat through the story fragment, piecing together what he could, before giving a low whistle. "Well, I'll be." On a random side note, Cain had become aware of his ever-changing accent. From city colt to country stallion, it seemed. He rather liked it. He hoped it made him sound more mature. "That's quite the tale so far, Miss Wind Walker. I'll have to ask the fella when he get's back for a little more on it." Cain's smile faded slightly, and a bit of nervousness and embarrassment showed as he became conscious of the mare sitting there as well. Him, recall a story? He felt as if he'd just embarrass himself in front of them. . . Cain liked to weave tall tales for little fillies and colts; He did it all the time, entertaining children and parents alike during his shows. still, somehow, it felt a tad bit more embarrassing in a setting like this. Maybe he could thin of something that wasn't too ridiculous. . . Cain gulped slightly, before speaking. "Ah, well. . . There's one story I could tell ya." Cain finally decided on recalling the events that had led towards him getting his cutie mark. He could mold the story a bit and make it sound like something he'd made up. It seemed less personal that way. "Y'see. . . Awhile ago, I knew this colt. Skinny little fella, didn't have too many friends. Since he was the youngest, weakest colt in the family back then, he didn't get out much. He was constantly outshone by his siblings, who all had some sort of special skill or ability. They'd all gotten their cutie marks; The youngest hadn't. Y'see, the little fella didn't perform feats of great physical prowess or intelligence." That was true enough, Cain supposed. "He didn't even know how to make sweets yet, like his parents. Instead, he designed things. Little things, like toys or little models, y'know? It made him the, ah, oddball back then. He didn't mind it too much, since his creations were getting better 'n better each day. Then, one day, he built somethin' that was different from his other little things. He'd been working on it for weeks and weeks, not liking the results. Then, one night, right before midnight, on the, eh. . ." Cain frowned, staring slightly past the two ponies. ". . Fiftieth try or so, he finished the thing. A little model of some pony, I forget. The point was, it was special. It didn't have wings, or wound up or anything, but. . . It was unique. Y'know why?" Cain leaned in, a small grin on his face. "The lil' thing seemed to be alive, in a way. Trotted in a circle, then sat down, at the window; It never moved or showed any life again, but the colt still holds on to the little thing to this day." Cain chuckled. "That isn't even all that interesting, considerin' what happened after that." Cain paused, to see if the other two were following.

  19. Killjoy raised an eyebrow, she wondered what sort of ace they even had. "What does he mean by "we may still need our Ace" what in f as it is our Ace up our sleeve?" She asked aloud. Luna shrugged "I really have no clue...no one has said anything about a secret weapon...surely I would have known about it by now. I just hope whatever tricks the general has left will be worth and finally let us gain some ground in this war. I'm sick of this stalemate."

  22. "Oh, I'm not upset. The books in the library are there for everpony to enjoy. I actually read it before. A great read. This time, however, I needed it for a reference. I was waiting them to receive a second copy so I could own one. I may be good at the stars, but without my copious notes and extensive library on hoof.... Well, let's just say, I'd forget my head if it weren't screwed on tight." he chuckled "And besides, I always prefer to be exactly right on my research with not a dot on the i or cross on the t missing. Better to have the reference handy, if you know what I mean." he winked Stellar seemed genuinely very interested in the twins' descriptions of their abilities. He hung on every word and nodded in understanding. "Now, if that isn't the most fantastic thing I've heard!" he exclaimed excitedly then stepped over himself trying to not be rude "I mean... not the 'not being able talk' bit, but you've learned to use telepathy either passively or near passively. And it's almost as natural as talking! It's really quite extraordinary!" he laughed at the last remark in agreement "Yes, magic certainly does have a way defying our expectations and throwing us for loop. I've been dedicating my research, lately, to just such a phenomena, in fact, and I may be on the verge of a breakthrough." he held up the book to signify he meant the research he needed it for. He chuckled and waved his hoof dismissingly "But I'm sure stars aren't exactly what you'd call the most engaging subject. I just find them fascinating. What is your area if interest, anyway? You mentioned studying in Canterlot, so it's got to be something cerebral. Hang on, I might guess. Your cutie mark is two stitched hearts, so my first guess is relationship counseling, but yours is.... oh, it's on the tip of my tongue.... I don't know, I recognize it's ancient unicornian, but I'm at a loss- wait!" he pulled out his book, thumbed through it a moment and pointed, more for himself than anything "Yes! The constellation Psi! So named for the ancient unicornian symbol, for psychology, it resembles! Not a constellation many ponies remember. It should be visible tonight, if I'm not mistaken." he paused and chuckled uncomfortably "I am so sorry, I'm talking your ears off. I just get a little easily excited.... I don't get out much." he smiled awkwardly
  23. Flaire's face lit up when Rarity expressed her interest in his theatre. He didn't expect she'd actually heard of them. Stage Lights would be so happy to hear that a pony of her stature was familiar with his work. Flaire made a mental note to tell him about it later. "Stage Lights would certainly be happy to hear of your enthusiasm." Flaire explained "Nothing makes him happier than to see that his work has made somepony else happy. Not least of which somepony of your social standing." he offered a wink. The show bill was certainly among his considerations and a very important to do. If nopony knew the theatre was here, nopony would see them perform. He had a mock up drawn by one of the actors that he'd planned on bringing to a copy shop. "We have our own resident artist who produces a new poster to pass about for each town we visit." He produced it now from his saddlebag, and showed it to Rarity."She wouldn't be able to draw enough to distribute to the masses, but I was hoping there was a printing press who could make that job easier?" The large poster depicted a crew of ponies posing in front of a very large stage on wheels. One of the ponies appeared to be Flaire, the one front and center, likely Stage Lights, a unicorn sporting a microphone and a hat that seemed made for tipping. It said in large letters. "Performing next week, here in Ponyville. Please welcome the Tour d'Equestria Touring Theatre!" then subtitled with "Please enjoy our performances as a courtesy to the community. Donations are not prerequisite, but appreciated." "So what d'you think? He doesn't actually wear a hat. That was just freestyle." He smiled expectantly.

  26. After a few more turns of the corridor (which mirrored the ones on the way in - Tongue Twister checked !), they came to another room like the first : a long triangle with the points rounded, representing a snake's head. "Wait. They gave the snake TWO heads ?" Polar Vortex inquired. "Yes. Makes it twice as dangerous." TT replied, "Attack one head, the other bites you; attack the body, and BOTH heads bite you !" "These primitive ponies were disturbed and outright weird." Tongue Twister gave him a glare that would freeze a forest fire solid. "No. They valued different things than you do, and expressed their ideas differently. That does NOT make them 'disturbed' or 'outright weird' !" "Well, if they were so great, how come they aren't around any more ?" Polar Vortex asked with a smug grin, rendering her stunned by his sheer ignorance. "Funny how these so-called smart ponies always go silent when confronted with True Logic !!!!!!" Polar Vortex mused to himself when she still hadn't recovered after three seconds. She finally managed to focus through her rage to reply. "The hypothesis with the greatest consensus is that they were done in by climate change. They created artificial islands and farmed them heavily, getting seven harvests a year. Then the rivers dried up. Less food led to more stress led to civil wars. What caused the drought is still under investigation. No amount of magical or tech greatness can help when there isn't enough food and everyone is fighting for scraps. Do you 'think' Equestria would hold together for long if food production dropped to ten percent ?" "We'd last longer than these ponies did, that's for sure !" he replied as he started down the exit, "We'd probably solve the problem quickly and easily, because we're better !" Rather than get into an argument with a blockhead, TT looked for signs that her parents came this way. And soon found one - two sets of hoofprints in the dust leading up to a door. The door opened into a large room, longer than it was wide, and very high. The walls were covered with circles of various sizes, all with a line through them, turned at random angles. On the far wall was an alcove with what looked like a gold necklace resting on a shelf, and a closed door to each side of it. The middle third of the floor was taken up by a massive eight by eight grid of tiles with Quetzalcoatlan numbers on them. TT did a quick check, and there was no discernable pattern to them. Equal numbers of odd and even numbers, ranging from one to nineteen with many repeats, but no repeats within a given row. "Sweet Celestia ! A MATH puzzle !" Polar stated with more than a hint of terror in his voice, "And there are no hints painted on the walls this time ! Just lots and lots of circles with lines through the middle of them !" "Then it's a good thing we're not here to solve the puzzle, isn't it ?" she replied as she took to the air for a better look. Her parent's hoofprints stayed in the left wall border, but only went halfway across the tiled area, then simply disappeared. They'd never reached the other side of the room. "MOM ! DAD ! YOU IN HERE ?" she shouted. "TT ? Is that you ?" "We're down here !" came her parent's muffled voices from under the floor. Remaining in the air, she depressed one of the tiles at random, triggering the pit trap. As expected, the whole tiled area opened like a pair of doors hinged at the front and back. Tongue Twister flapped extra hard and fast to keep from being pulled down into the pit by the vacuum the swinging doors had generated. Moments later, a dark grey blur streaked out of the pit and hovered near the ceiling. It was an older pegasus mare, with a dark stormcloud grey coat and a mane of straight black hair, woven into braids with strands of palest gray (usually kept immaculate, but currently frazzled). Her red vest and skirt were smeared with millennia old dust. Tongue Twister's mother, Shady Dealer, obviously did NOT have a good day ! "FREE AT LAST !" Shady cried out in sheer joy as she zoomed around the room, refusing to touch down. So TT flew up to intercept her with an embrace. "This place is HORRIBLE !" Shady exclaimed, "I want to go home !" "Yes. I know. That's probably best for everyone mom." TT replied. "Uhm, I'm still down here." a voice from the pit stated. Shady and TT looked at each other, then dived as one into the pit to retrieve TT's father, a heavy set tan unicorn with white socks, and a light brown mane and tail - Caveat Emptor. Once they put him safely on the floor (well away from the trap door), he cleaned his glasses, put them back on and asked "So, you got any snacks ? Some fresh water ? It was rather unhealthy down there !" Tongue Twister merely smiled at him and started hoofing over the many bags of dried fruits and bottles of water she'd brought for just this occassion. Then, with an echoing groan and a screech, the trapdoors slowly closed. "Daddy, where did you get all these dirt prints all over you ?" she asked after she noted them and tried using her wings to dust them off - they were shaped sort of like long, serrated triangles the color of rust. When she took a closer look at some of the dust on her wings, she noted that it WAS rust. "Probably down in that pit. There were hundreds of piles of dust down there !" he replied. TT mused for a bit, then carefully went to the edge of the trap, and carefully depressed one of the triggers. The trap opened again, and she peered inside. As her father had stated, there were many triangular piles of dust scattered all over the floor. And what looked three small tunnels on each wall. She jotted down a few notes. "Uhm, Daddy ? Those piles of rust used to be spikes !" she stated, "They were meant to impale and slash anyone that fell in the pit. The serrations worked like barbs on a fish hook, keeping the victim pinned to the floor. I suspect those tunnels lead to the outside, and allow small carnivores and scavengers to get into the pit to eat whatever was bleeding down there. This trap can dish out some well thought-out carnage ! That's - rather excessive for even a vault of this period. If they had used their standard bronze instead of iron, or even obsidian or flint for the spikes, you and mom would be dead !" When she turned back to them, Caveat had a blatantly fake smile on his face, and Shady looked horrified and twitchy. "Well, I think we've had enough adventure for the decade !" he finally stated as he hugged his wife, "I really think we should go home now ! Before our luck runs out !" "Oh, yes ! Of course ! Right this way ! Sorry !" TT replied as she trotted up to them, "Just go back the way you came in. All the traps are defunct. I'll be there to help you repack the mini-zep in just a few moments." Her parents looked at her with concern, but headed out. TT walked over to Polar Vortex, deep in thought. She really didn't want to be poking around in an ancient deathtrap, but given the level of security so far, whatever was in here might be dangerous. Better that she and STAR find it and deal with it now, before anypony else gets any funny ideas. "It should take just a few minutes for me to escort them back to the min-zep and get them safely on their way home, and return. Until then - DON'T. TOUCH. ANYTHING !" she punctuated with an accusing hoof and leaned in virtually nose to nose, "So far, all of the traps we've found have been defunct. But that doesn't mean all of them will be. And there may even be more traps in this room we haven't activated yet. If that pit trap is any hint as to what level of peril we're facing in here, I'd suggest being really, REALLY careful about collecting things and poking around !" With that, she turned on her heels and started out. Polar Vortex glared at her. He was HER superior officer ! He does NOT take orders from subordinates ! Scene : a few minutes later, out by the mini-zep. "Okay dear, we've been understanding so far, but WHAT IS GOING ON ?!" Shady Dealer asked, "Why did you move to Las Pegasus ? Why haven't you sent us any letters ? And who was the jarhead back there ?" "I - kind of have a new job now." TT answered quietly, looking everywhere but at her mom. "It's not something dangerous again, is it ?" Caveat pressed. "I'm in a Scenario Twelve B !" TT stammered as she flapped her wings as a nervous gesture. Caveat facehoofed while Shady looked confused. "Are you going to be needing any help to get out ?" Caveat asked as he gave her a quick hug. "No. I can handle it." TT replied, "One good thing about being a 'mere civilian' is that I'm easy to overlook." Caveat sighed. "Well, be sure to let us know if you need anything. Anything at all." "I know." Tongue Twister replied. "Sooooo - any idea of the easiest way to go home ?" Shady asked as she finished up loading a few things into the mini-zep, "We took the most direct route." "Yeah. From here, just head fifteen degrees south of true east. Keep the ice fields of the Frozen North miles but in sight to your left. After about an hour or two you'll see the Crystal Spires - gateway to the Crystal Empire. You can take a train back home. You should get there a bit after lunch." TT replied. After a few more good byes, Caveat stepped into the mini zeppelin and took off as Shady flew alongside. Tongue Twister watched them for a few moments before heading back into the Quetzalcoatlan vault. "What by Celestia's blessed pinions is a 'Scenario Twelve B' ?!" Shady Dealer asked her husband. "From the sourcebook of Ogres and Oubliettes." he replied, "They have an assortment of starting scenes for the game when running moderate to high level characters. They're modular and random, so the GMs can generate many different scenarios - one from column A, then one from column B, and so on. In a Scenario Twelve B, the characters join a vast and powerful but mysterious organization with unknown motives. They have to find out what is going on, and deal with the situation." "That's why she hasn't told us anything." Shady glumly deduced, "The less we know, the better off everypony will be." When Tongue Twister got back into the vault, Polar Vortex was staying near the ceiling, avoiding the now very wet floor, and doing his best to evade half a dozen giant leeches (each the length and thickness of the average pony's leg !) TT noticed an empty spot on the shelf where a gold necklace used to be. "You just HAD to grab the jewelry, didn't you ?" she yelled up at him after rolling her eyes.
