  2. Book 5 was on a bit of hold for now. She had hit a bit of a stump in her writing. As much as she delved into the world of fantasy and alternate realities, she still had to admit that her imagination did not stretch forever, and while this type of situation hadn't happened in a while, she thought it was probably overdue. And so she was here. Well, she thought she was. It was supposed to be this one, the fourth one on the left. Unless she miscounted or misheard. The Explorer's society, a pub named so for the history as a sort of hub for explorer's to tell their tales of epic and adventure. Stuff that she already did, although through books and paper. She came wanting to hopefully refresh her brain. Maybe hear some stories from others. They didn't have to be true or not, they just had to seem interesting enough to spark her mind. Of course, that was assuming she was at the right place. She heard of the place about two weeks ago through eavesdropping on her weekly grocery trip. She hadn't thought of it much back then, but it was useful to know now, and luckily for her, it wasn't too far from her place.

Vella made her way inside the building, the unlocked door basically inviting herself in. Of course, that was kind of the only part that really did. She heard some chattering inside, that kind of reassured her, maybe she could have been in a store instead? Although what kind of store would have chattering at this level? Maybe she was inside a cafe instead? She stood there for a moment, taking in as much as she could. She had to admit that maybe she should have trained her senses more over the years, although that wasn't really something she could do often with her lifestyle. "This is the Explorer's society... right?" She said out loud hoping maybe somepony heard her. "Because if it isn't, well. I'm obviously not supposed to be here." There was no super standard protocol to design layouts in buildings to help her.

    Novella.png

    Roleplay Type: WoE
    Name: No Vella (Vella No)
    Sex: Female
    Age: Middle adult.
    Species: Earth Pony.
    Eye colour: Milk White.
    Coat: Grey.
    Mane/Tail: White-Grey
Physique: Below Average, but not quite frail.
    Residence: Canterlot
Occupation: Author. Forever Free For Everfree is her latest series.
Cutie Mark: Braille Typewriter. After losing her sight, she got around to finishing one of her early started stories. When she showed it to her family, they expressed positively towards the quality of the story. It was then she got her cutie mark. Nopony knows exactly when it came, just that it came around then. Maybe if she had been able to see it... She hasn't published that story, it's too special for her to let go.
Unique Traits: Born with sight, but it degraded over her childhood. Her blindness gives her writing a different emphasis and what references to colour she gives are usually based on the qualities associated with the colours as well as her memories from her childhood. Some might say her condition actually boosted her writing. She might look older than she really is. She's of Neighponese descent.

    Autobiography*:

    Spoiler

"The Day I went completely blind, I knew it was all imagination from then on."

I wasn't always blind. For years my sight required a bit of correction, but it wasn't severe, but around the age of 12, it started fading away. There was nothing they could do. I had to watch it Fade Away, or perhaps the opposite, I didn't watch it. I had to make more compensation everyday until it was all... well, nothing.

I wasn't surprised, it wasn't so sudden, I knew it was coming, maybe not that soon, but in that week. I actually got an early start on preparations. Braille doesn't take as long as you would think, it's not a different language, it's just kind of a different alphabet.

I started writing before then, but it was after that I really started getting into it. My mind is the only place where I still have it. All the colours. All the details. I can come up with anything, and if it sounds creative and fun, then who cares if it's realistic?

But I'll still never truly get used to it.

Surname's are a weird thing in this world. It's not a really unified concept. Some families have it, some don't. And some don't always go by it. It's just my luck that my parents decided to be traditional and keep the naming scheme. Having the surname 'No' is quite the blight in Equestria, especially if they pronounce it in the Equestria fashion. It's caused some weird situations sometimes. Well, I guess you could say "Of" Vella instead.

History:  No Vella was born in FillyDelphia to two loving parents. To keep in track with tradition, they gave her the surname of No. The most notable feature of her early childhood was her early acquisition of glasses. The moment she started bumping into things a lot, that was when they knew it had to happen. They weren't really thick, but they were above average a bit. She was never particularly active, preferring mostly to spend her time inside and read, she would often use the excuse of breaking her glasses. Whether or not she made friends is debatable based on what quantifies as a friend. She hung out with others sometimes, but she never particularly got too close to any of them. She tried her hoof at writing, but she never felt like it was good enough, like there was something missing. A couple of years after starting school was when she started to feel the symptoms. Her sight was degrading. All those other times she thought it was happening, it never did, but this time was real, and it was happening fast. It was then that she started learning braille. It wasn't as hard as she thought it was going to be. It was not a language, it was just another script. Within a week, it was all gone. She woke up one day to nothing. You could call it darkness, but really it was just nothing. She never played outside much so that never really affected her, the much she did was mostly just learning how to navigate again, but her limited library sort of did. To make up for the reduction in material, she started writing again, to make her own stuff. She could really feel her imagination now. She continued school for a while longer, but the moment she felt like she had enough, she left. She had published two books by then and had some others in her backlog. She loved her parents, but she needed her own place of solitude. She had two choices in her mind. Manehatten or Canterlot. Ultimately, Manehatten was cheaper at the time and was closer to her first publisher. A couple of years later she switched to a Canterlot based publisher and recently made the effort to set up home there.

Character Personality: She is quiet and calm, but inside her mind are worlds of imagination.
Character Summary: Vella is a Quiet and calm pony who seems somewhat disconnected from reality. She doesn't really seem to pay much attention to her surroundings unless she's actively travelling. She's not antisocial, it's just easier to think when you're alone.

    Spoiler

No Vella is a character that I created to contrast Loose Cannon. I actually created her a while back, but haven't gone through the effort of importing her to this site. Forever Free For Everfree is an idea that I've been trying to write, but it's probably too ambitious for me to do.

  6. All cabin and no engine... who would have thought that choosing the last one would probably be a bad thing? Was this train cursed? It would seem awfully weird and strange for the train to just split like that and have no one notice. Supposedly. Maybe someone from the other side noticed? Sooner they noticed sooner they could come back for them? Although as far as she was aware the train wasn't designed to stay in this environment for longer than it needed to. It was probably safer for the train to continue and than send back help. From a selfless standpoint, she would go with that. From a 'she didn't want to die in this extreme moment' standpoint she hoped not.

"Alright, yes jump. Yeah totally." She wasn't particularly sure if she leaving was any better than staying here. Sure there was turbulence and that, but she stood her ground, right? It seemed with no time to think, the group already made up their mind. "Make sure to roll when you land." She said out loud to no one in particular. It just went through her mind at that moment, probably wouldn't matter anyway because it's just snow. Unless it's ice. She hoped not. She would need to grab her stuff first. She didn't bring much with her, just one set of bags. She was not intending on spending a lot of time at her destination anyway. It was a good thing she didn't have to carry much through here.

"Er, thanks I appreciate the concern, but, I'm sure I can take care of myself," She replied to the griffon while she was retrieving her bag. The Griffon probably didn't listen to her anyway. It took her a bit longer than she wanted to grab her stuff because it was a bit mixed up in the rummage and she couldn't really tell the difference. "Alright got it- hey!" she was yanked off the ground by the griffon who carried her towards the exit. She wanted to complain but in this situation any interruptions were ill-advised. Yeah, the train was totally cursed.

The air outside was cold, she could feel it from the parts of her that weren't pressed up against the Gryphon. For a moment she thought it wasn't going to happen but it did and they landed on the ground a moment later. "Hey, uh Zelda... You can stop holding on to me now." Who would have thought she would be the one getting "rescued?"

  7. Man, this episode just restrengthens my love for Cozy Glow even more. She's quite the master of the cheeks.

The Talisman must have been placed in an expository sense for the audience otherwise I find it hard to believe that Grogar might not have noticed it there.

I get that Chrysalis was the Changeling Queen and she's supposed to be real good at magic and stuff, but I'm not sure how I feel about the increasing notion that changelings can basically transform into whatever they want. There must be some limitations unless just pure magical power is enough.

  9. This episode was the most blasphemous and is offensive to Yak culture. This episode must be censored immediately.

For some reason prior to going into the episode, I expected more Sandbar than I should have considering that it was literally about Yona and I kind of knew that before going in.

The Mane Six actually managed to do a good job at helping her as she requested exactly.

No kiss. Not a wedding episode so it's totally not allowed. Kiss #4 will have to wait. Unless I missed one somehow.

Wait a minute, I'm not tacobob...

  12. Right after she spoke her words felt like she might have gone out for a moment there because she felt a skip in her hearing. As strong as one could be there are still ways to get a concussion. Luckily this one wasn't so bad. "Hey... is that the light?" She joked to herself, that was the expression right? She was aided by the forces of the two pegasi as they pulled the rubble off of her.  "Yeah, yeah... yeah... yeah... everything's fine. Not dead at all. Thanks. Yeah... yeah." She probably didn't sound alright, but she definitely was. Honest! "Is this stuff all yours? I didn't put anything up there. Just my luck to be standing under there."

She wasn't really in the condition to investigate but she said she would. She got up off the ground and stumbled her way over to the door for a moment. Yeah, it was cold, in comparison to the indoor temperature, no big deal, for the moment. She could definitely hear the sounds louder. Sounded a lot like the connection. But she couldn't really tell in her current state, the wind was messing up her accuracy. She almost reached down to touch when she heard Daze's observation. She jerked her hoof back. No, she wasn't messing with it anymore. She went back inside. "So my random arbitrary knowledge has made me the expert in this situation? Man, you must totally be relying on my excellent observation skills. My conclusion? We might be hanging on barely. But maybe we'll be ok-"

Wait, that didn't feel right. Were they slowing down? That might be a good thing actually if they're stopping to fix the connection. Although how would they know. Unless... wait, what two cabins? "Wait, what did you say?" She asked the Griffon.

  13. "Ah gotcha. My random knowledge came helpful for once," she replied to Khamsa, (or Fiver, she honestly preferred Khamsa in this situation). Her mother was the type to often learn about and remember arbitrary facts that got passed down. "Well, more than once, this isn't the first time, but whatever." She shrugged.

"I want to say it's Griffon's integrated into pony society, but that's just judging from my own knowledge. There's still much more for me to learn about Crystal Empire lore," she said to Zelda. "I didn't hear much about the griffon settlement you talked about, but maybe I did and I just forgot about it."

She could feel a chill go through herself. The air from the outside seemed to be seeping through inside now. She wanted to trust the authority of the train service. There's no way they would travel in these conditions. However, it felt like the conditions were very borderline. She went through her bag again. A bunch of winter gear including a blindfold for the potential weather. Her eyes were not completely dead, they still had feeling, a bit too much feeling if you would ask her and that would not pair well with her habit of keeping her eyes open. No problem with sunlight, but in cold weather, the wind and frost can suck.

"Right, well, it seems you better get used to it because I don't think they're gonna end anytime soon," she replied to the flying pegasus. She thought for a moment.  "I think there may be a pattern to the turbulence. Haven't quite figured it out yet..."

"I think the clicking is coming from outside. I'll go check it out. I don't see what could be so scary about going outside for a moment, not like you're going to fall off, and as if that would be much of a problem for you." She pulled on her blindfold and got up from her seat moving into the aisle. A moment not too later, the train started shaking and she went down flat onto the floor. It was not the shaking, but the sudden barrage of items on top of her. "It... would seem... that the inside is more deadly... yeah."
