  1. I assume this application was before the season 7 finale. Is Flux a reformed changeling? If so, how does her current demeanor and appearance differ from the application?
  2. I know at least two people, here, who play a changeling character. So I have a character who is part changeling. He kind of needs to work out some personal issues regarding his heritage, and I thought meeting a reformed changeling and being forced to interact might help him. Anyway, I'll give more information, but right now, unfortunately, I don't have time to type lol.
  3. She smiled as Aloe spoke her mind on pride on your heritage. While her parents' pride had gone far enough for all of them and then some, sir could definitely see where Aloe was coming from. It is important to be able to be proud of who you are and all the things that make you that. She'd lived with such an extreme for so much of her life, that she had kind of forgotten what it meant to have a healthy pride for one's heritage. She watched as Rose seemed to battle with something internally. Her mind seemed to wander elsewhere before she shook herself back to reality. Compass knew the feeling well. She gave a knowing smile as she replied to Aloe's invitation for friendship. "I like the sound of that." she sighed, laying back in the mud bath "I'm always up for new friends." she gave a little yawn and laughed "If they're ok being up at night, that is."
  4. Guise.

    I finally did it.

After 6 or 7 years or so as a brony and something like 30+ OCs.... I finally made my ponysona.

    Her name is Paige Scribble.

Isn't she amazing! I love it so much! And it only took me like 1,000 hours to do (that hair was a nightmare lol).

    1. Hippo

      Hippo

Cute! I love how messily organized her mane is. She must spend hours getting it to look like that every day.

Paige: Laughs loudly "No, but it does take a lot of effort to keep it from matting! Kaitlyn thinks it was nightmare drawing my hair, she should try having it!"

  5. Compass shifted herself to allow the new mixture to cover her and smiled at Aloe "That's much better. Thank you." she sighed as she relaxed into the now actually quite soothing sensation. "Very nice, now." When Rose picked the conversation up, Compass was actually not unhappy to answer the questions. Maybe it was the environment at the spa, maybe it was the mud bath, or maybe it was the ponies she was with, but she felt relaxed around these two and honestly didn't really mind, anymore, answering these questions. It felt more like a friendly conversation, at this point, than the prodding feeling she normally got from such questions. She frowned "I don't really know how most aerion generally feel, but my parents were.... shall we say.... proud of their aerion heritage. They would never have admitted to the possibility of having pony ancestors. That was just my own theory." she thought for a second before continuing "There's probably other aerion who know these things better than I would. Maybe I'll go to the conclave again, one of these days, and see if I can find somepony who knows a thing or two." she smiled. She hadn't mentioned it, but she'd opted not to go to the conclave the last several times because she just didn't feel as comfortable there as elsewhere. Probably just because of her parents' attitude. Her only interactions, really, had been with her parents' like-minded friends, or had no mention of ponies. For all she knew, there could even be a decent portion of aerion who even preferred being called bat pony. She stifled a laugh at the thought. She'd been trying to be more flexible in that regard, but it was hard to overcome her upbringing. // edit: @Aisede I prolly shoulda said something about it in my bit here, but I didn't think about it lol. but "chiropteran" is quite the four-dollar-word lol (had to look it up to make sure I guessed its meaning correctly) It is something I've noticed in your rp (be it a you thing or a Rose Compass thing, either way), that you tend to use a bit of that type of obtuse and obfuscatory nomenclature (big obscure words (one of my sister's favorite phrases)). //
  6. Compass had been submerged in mud, before. Although, not voluntarily. She started by tapping the substance with her hoof to feel its temperature, then she shrugged and stepped in, her back hooves first, putting her wings up before submerging them, as well. She kept slowly lowering herself until only her head remained above the surface. She tried to relax but the stuff was... admittedly more abrasive than she liked. Especially on her wings. "Well, It's certainly different. Last time I was this covered in mud, it took me a week to get it out of my tail." she laughed "It smells really nice, tho." she turned to aloe "I.... may actually need more water, now that I feel it. It's like my wings are being rubbed against granite." she shifted uncomfortably "No offense."
  7. I'm just imaging myth having a casual conversation with somepony in Canterlot, when the magic from the crystal empire (in the episode "The Crystal Empire") spreads across Equestria and she stops mid sentence and gawks at the sky "Woah! did you *see* that!" the pony responds with "What? i don't see anything..." "You can *not* tell me you don't see that! It's amazing! I have to go find out where it's coming from!" lol the Crystal Heart is probably blinding to her. like looking directly at the sun.
  8. oof. Myth would've seen that. o3o no matter tho. I just thought it might be fun to talk about the theory. When you mentioned "weaving the Aether" in rp, I started thinking about this thread and my own musings about Equestrian magic theory. I hadn't thought about it before, but in that moment, I started thinking about what "Weaving the aether" might entail. And i concluded that it would make a lot of sense for a pony who's never seen light, but sees magic to learn how to use magic effectively much differently than other unicorns. That it would make sense if she would use her horn to manipulate the fabric of magic like a seamstress manipulating cloth. She is extremely interested in how magic works and what she and other ponies can do with it. She's watched earth ponies till the soil and seen that they use their own type of magic to help the plants grow. and pegasi controlling the weather with their magic. Her favorite thing of all time is the Crystal Faire in the Crystal Empire. You think there's a show for light-sighted ponies, just think what it looks like for myth. She makes sure to make it to the Faire every year.
  9. I was playing my magic-sighed, light-blind unicorn Mythic Vision, and kind of wanted to revive this topic. I find this discussion to be fairly stimulating and others insights on the topic to be fun to discuss. @IceStorm and @Alivda are involved in said rp, and i would love to hear their input of they have any.
  10. Compass had a feeling she might need to lessen the abrasiveness of the next treatment, but she figured she could wait to see what it felt like, first. She smiled "That sounds quite nice. I'll let you know if I need anything." She followed Aloe to the next treatment.
  11. Compass' heart sank and her eyes opened in a concerned face *blood?* she thought. It took her half a second to realize she wasn't accusing her of anything, but still... "Hm... I'm not sure I like the idea of... killing anything. I don't know what a Hydro is, but...." she frowned. Then Aloe reacted. A hydra. Well, that certainly does clear things up. She's heard the name hydra before. She didn't figure there were any in the Everfree, as she hadn't seen any, but if that's what she was after, she had more reasons to think twice about joining. "Oh. A hydra.... Um.... Well, I suppose you did have reason to think I might not want to join.... I.... I might want to think that one over.... I know I'm a bit reckless, but even I'm not that reckless...." she frowned "I would hate to go back on what I've already said, but.... if I do decide to come with you, I will need to be paid more, afterall.... I will let you know what I decide, but.... for now...." she chuckled to herself as she thought about it "Can we go back to the race questions?" she laughed at the absurdity of it all. This surely wasn't how she expected her day at the spa to go. Not that she minded unexpected. She was a cartographer, afterall. She was really beginning to regard these two as friends. She'd only just met them, but they were so easy to get along with, and... she thought *...probably how relaxing this steam is.* she smiled. She liked making new friends, and Ponyville had been great for that, lately.
  12. Compass laughed "I know I talk about the Everfree like it's not a pleasant experience, but I really do pretty okay in there, generally. I'm sure whatever you have to tell me, I can handle just fine." she smiled, eager to hear what she's be looking for. "As for the payment, I would never refuse a gratuity, but you really don't need to feel obligated to pay any more than my fee." she laid her head back to relax in the steam, it really felt nice. The heat was a little more than she would normally like, but it wasn’t harsh like the sun.
  13. Compass nodded when Aloe made the comment about her work being pretentially dangerous. "Yes, in fact, just last week, I tore my wing pretty bad trying to escape a Timberwolf in the Everfree. Thanks to the help of a certain tree-dwelling herbalist, tho, I made it out of there in one piece." She made a face. The Everfree had, in fact, proven difficult to safely traverse. And given her companion didn't have wings, she couldn't simply fly over it to get where she wanted to go. "Hm." she thought out loud "My services aren't usually all that expensive, but given where we'd be going, would you be willing to pay a hazard bonus? I usually charge 10-20 bits a day depending how much walking or flying i have to do. I think... half as much more should be okay for hazard." she nodded to herself as if she'd only just decided on this. After thinking for a moment, she added "I have also proven to be very capable at assisting botanists, when you describe what your looking for. Who knows, maybe I've already seen it."
  14. In an unassuming corner of Ponyville, surrounded by shops of various kinds, sat a quaint little flower shop. The sign read "Love and Lillies" with a stylized lily superimposed as a logo of sorts. Its red Dutch door closed with a note that said "Closed for Lunch. Knock if urgent." Flower Love opened the top half of her double-hinged shop door outward, and removed the note with her magic, teleporting it to someplace inside. On the inside of the door, she hung a sign that said "Yes, we're open! Ring bell for service." and she placed a bell on the counter atop the bottom half of the door. It had been about a year since she'd moved to Ponyville. She knew, when she got here, that her shop she wanted to open would be unlikely to do all that well, since Ponyville already seemed to have a well established flower shop, and although her shop's focus was different, being the flowers' culinary values, it was still an already saturated market. She was content having slow business with just a few friendly ponies as her return customers. She had thought about trying to move to her hometown of Manehattan, where her shop's predecessor had been, but she'd grown to really like Ponyville. And although business wasn't booming, it was enough to get by. She turned around inside and began tending to her chrysanthemums, gently humming a familiar tune to herself.
  15. Compass nodded at Aloe's assertion that there are ponies who would like Old Canterlot "Oh, I don't doubt it. I mean, those that live there choose to because they like living there. I just... don't hold it in the same regard as they do. Honestly, when I finally was able to leave my parents' house, I couldn't get out of Old Canterlot fast enough." she laughed "Of course, I stayed in Canterlot proper, for a while, with my friend before he suggested Ponyville as the best place to make friends with ponies." she smiled. When Aloe responded to her guess about Aerion colors, she smiled and gave a little laugh "Why thank you, Aloe! I appreciate that. I don't hold as much value on bloodlines as my parents do though. I do like that I have more colorful coat, tho it does make my skin ever so slightly more sun-sensitive than a grey Aerion's would be." Compass smiled wide when Rose asked about her cartography. If there was one thing she enjoyed sharing with others, it was her passion in Cartography. "I'm so glad you asked, Rose! As one of the Aerion lucky enough to get the pony ability to get a cutie mark, I have this." she lifted her leathery wing and pointed at her flank. "Cartography is my special talent. I've been using my free time, lately, to do the— admittedly very difficult —task of mapping the Everfree forest! I'd heard nopony goes in there, and I figured then there must not be very good maps of the place." she suddenly wished she'd brought her maps or at least her parchment and quills. "Although, of course, there aren't that many calls for a cartographer, these days. So my shop is more specifically geared to selling and renting adventuring gear. My services are always for hire, tho, should anypony find a need for a guide with near-perfect photographic memory." she tapped her temple "and of course night vision." she laughed
  16. Compass smiled at Aloe's responses. She'd suggested she take a look around old Canterlot someday, which she guessed wouldn't be a bad thing, but "I'm just not sure how interesting it would be. It's just old buildings, crumbling streets and unfriendly ponies and Aerion." she chuckled she wasn't very fond of her hometown. It had been a while since she'd been back there, but she didn't have many good memories of Old Canterlot. She frowned when the unicorn had asked her question. She'd begun to enjoy her relaxing steam, and she wasn't looking forward to the race questions. But, ever the helpful mare, she quickly turned her frown upside down and smiled. It wasn't that she minded answering the questions, she just kind of wanted to talk about other things, at the moment. Regardless, the unicorn had asked her a question, and she intended to answer it. "I don't know if you know anything about the Aerion Conclave, it's not exactly something Aerion share very much. It's special and sacred to us. Essentially, it's a gathering for Aerion who come from all over the world to meet up together. Aerion from all the corners of the globe. Those I met there that had been from the East Umbral Trading Company are actually another subset of Aerion. They generally sport dark colors that blend into the night better. I think it's a...." she struggled for a better term, not wanting to sound like her parents "purer breed? Equestrian Aerion are probably bred in more with ponies. That's my guess, anyway. I might be totally wrong." she said honestly, scratching the back of her head. She wasn't really an expert on all things Aerion, but she always tried to answer questions the best she could. Even when it meant telling ponies she didn't know if she was right. She smiled and decided to change the subject herself instead of just letting the other keep asking questions like she usually did. "I'm sorry." she thought to her new friend silently "I promise I'll answer all your questions another time." she promised more for her own peace of mind. "So, you must be new to Ponyville." she started, conversationally "I mean at least your shop you mentioned. I haven't re-mapped Ponyville in a week, but I didn't see an apothecary like yours." she suggested, hoping she didn't come off rude in either dodging further race questions or in her assumption.
  17. Compass was used to being asked all sorts of questions ponies have because of her race. It wasn't uncommon for her to need to explain her eating habits or her Semitic to sunlight; even the odd time ponies ask if she gets thirsty for blood. It usually makes her internally roll her eyes, but she takes those questions in stride. She tries to take them in the spirit of being genuinely interested in her kind. The question the mare asked her, tho, sort of took her off guard. She'd met some Aerion at the conclave who were from the East Umbral Trading Company, but she never really knew much about them. She had paused thinking, for a second, before she realised she hadn't actually answered the question out loud. "Oh, no. I have met some Aerion who were, but I'm not, myself. I'm just from Canterlot. The lesser known, older part of town." she remembered how her parents would refuse to move to the newer parts of Canterlot because they were just fine staying away from where all the ponies were, thank you very much. When Aloe mentioned that her sister might be willing to run the spa later into the night to accommodate her, she blushed "O-oh, it's okay. You don't have to make special arrangements just for me. I can just make appointments on days that are scheduled to be overcast, or something." she didn't want to impose on them and make them have to stay open at abnormal hours just for her. She'd be lying if she said that it wouldn't be more convenient and comfortable for her, but she didn't like to make others do extra work on her account. She thought about how she would get the weather schedule, and figured that was a problem for when she wasn't trying to relax.
  18. Rose noticed that her nostalgia for the stories she'd heard about the Zebra Lands didn't go over quite as she'd hoped. It seemed this Zecora wasn't too eager to talk about home. She could certainly understand that. She had her own things about her family she'd rather not discuss. She decided it would be best to change the subject. "So, I've been here for weeks, mostly mapping out the forest. I have a hard time, as you can tell," she chuckled looking at her wing "getting through the forest floor. Honestly, I probably never should've tried flying away in the dense trees to begin with." she sipped at her tea before she continued "Anyway, I was wondering if you had any advice to help me not be.... such an easy target." she chuckled nervously. "You seem to know your way around here, and you live here, for ponies' sake." she sipped again. It wasn't every day she found herself asking others for pointers. But then again it wasn't every day she was chased by a hunk of wood and saved by tree-dwelling herbalist either.
  19. Rose sipped more of her tea, the ingredients relaxing her more with each drink. She closed her eyes as she enjoyed the taste. Her friend from Canterlot makes chamomile all the time, but not like this. She'd have to get the recipe, Stellar Drift would love this. She opened her eyes again, having all but forgotten the pain in her wing and the scare from earlier. She now turned her attention to the room and the mare it belonged to. She recognized the style of the masks and things displayed on the walls. Her dad's crazy Aerion friend, who she'd noted earlier also lived in a tree, had some of these displayed in his own home. He'd told Rose that he got them in the Savanna Zebra Lands. Rose thoroughly believed the hot sun of that savanna had driven him mad. She stifled a laugh as she remembered what he'd said some of the masks meant. She'd be interested to learn their real meanings. "I had a friend, once," she started sipping more tea, hoping she was safe to talk about the subject "who said he'd been to what he called 'The Savanna Zebra Lands' where he got some of his decor that looked a lot like yours." she smiled thinking about the friend's wild-eyed rants about the place "Although, I don't really take much stock in anything he said about it. I don't think the sun did him any favors, if you know what I mean." she pointed at her head and laughed. She looked at her tea cup and realized she'd finished the tea without even noticing. She put it down on the table. She thought for a long moment before she said "He eventually succumbed to the damage the sun did to him.... I kind of miss him, to be honest." she smiled a bit, realizing she'd just told somepony this thing she's never talked to anypony about ever before. Even her parents didn't know she'd visited crazy Moonbeam. She figured it must be the tea that had relaxed her.
  20. Hey, i told you already. you're doing great. Your posts are fantastic and your dialog is spot on.
  21. Rose couldn't help but be relaxed by the other's rhyming. She seemed insistent on the relaxing thing. Rose took a deep breath. "You're right." she sighed "I guess it all really did affect me more than I like to admit." she smiled at the othe-, apparently a zebra, the zebra's introduction. This added a number of questions to Rose's growing pile. She laughed to herself as she reaslised this must be how others feel upon meeting her. She decided that she'd choose a limited number of her questions. She knew what it was like to be inundated with racial questions like some kind of roadside attraction. She suddenly realized she hadn't taken a single sip of the tea she'd been offered. Not wanting to be rude, she sipped. It had a nice pleasant taste. and it seemed to relax her. She'd had chamomile tea with her pegasus friend, a few times, but this was much more powerful. She figured it must be that sap star. Then she noted "Hey, you're an herbalist! My other friend I met in this forest was also an herbalist! Although, he lives in Ponyville proper." she looked about at the decor of Zecora's hut seeing all the interesting masks and various ingredients and even a cauldron in the middle of the room that she wondered how she missed until now. She figured she must still be a bit frazzled. "So I guess you're also a kind of apothecary?" she asked, nodding at the cauldron. Then, realizing Zecora had asked her a question she'd still yet to answer, she added "Oh, yellow. Sorry. Yellow with little black speckles. The flowers." Her attention was directed at the picture of 6 very well-known ponies. Oh, of course. That apple orchard she'd mapped in Ponyville must belong to Applejack. "Well," she offered "In any case, the apple things are fantastic. and so is this tea." she raised her tea cup "So you're friends with Princess Twilight and her friends?" she wouldn't have guessed that from the apple treats alone, but the picture she kept made her think so.
  22. Rose was happy to have somepony who seemed all too eager to make her comfortable. Until she noted that she had felt it was indeed all too eager. she tried to relax, but the tight kept nagging her. She silently cursed her parents for instilling her innate distrust of ponies. Something she too often had to consciously fight. Especially when she could so easily reason it. She smiled at the star-shaped tree sap in her tea and nodded in acceptance of the beverage. When the mare brought out the snacks, that thought nagged at her again, and she once again stuffed it down and smiled at the pony's generosity. She picked an apple strudel from the cart and began to snack with her new friend. As soon as she'd gotten comfortable, she turned her wing, wincing as she remembered the injury, and carefully continued to turn it to reach the claw-like bend in her wing // sorry i couldn't think of a good way to describe it. I mean this // into her saddlebag to retrieve a quill and parchment. She lay the parchment down and began drawing with her mouth. As she drew, she took small breaks to speak before picking the quill back up and resuming. "My mane's Compass Rose" she offered "But you can call me Rose." she finished with the quill in her mouth. She seemed to be drawing a plant. She drew what looked like a very technical drawing of a vine-like plant with thorns that sprouted flowers on parts. The detail was excruciating. When she finished, she spat the quill onto the table "That's the bugger." she said, pointing, as she resumed consuming her refreshments. "Oh, my. these apple things are wonderful. Did you make them?"
  23. Rose was beginning to become accustomed to the interesting mare's rhythmic cadence. Her words felt like they were well thought out and spoken with care. She figured this must be a result of the rhyming, and decided that was one less thing she need ask about. Not that she didn't have her fair share of those. When she laid eyes on the tree hut, she gasped. So this is what that large tree in the distance had been. It kind of made her wish she would have come this way to check it out sooner. Also this is why she never saw any sign of a house. She'd never seen a home built into a tree before. Well.... outside of a crazy old Aerion friend of her dad's. But that guy hardly counted. She smiled. This only added to her already growing pile of questions for the mare. but she figured she'd better be polite and start with answering hers. "Well, I don't usually scare that easy." she started "But you know.... Those timberwolves are.... well, they're really something." she chuckled. It didn't help that she wasn't used to flying through such an unfriendly forest, and she didn't know the first thing about the plants and animals here. She continued "But I'm fine, now." she looked at her wing "relatively speaking..." She thought a cup of chamomile sounded lovely. Tho, she'd hate to impose. "I would love a cup of tea.... if, you know, it's not too much trouble."
  24. She lived in this forest!? Rose almost couldn't believe her ears. Rose thought she herself was a bit nuts for living next to the forest, but this pony.... no, no. She mustn't judge like that. But she had to wonder how she could possibly have missed a house in the middle of the forest, even from the sky. Tho, she could tell, thinking back on the directions and distances she'd run, that she hadn't flown directly over this portion of the forest, yet. She laughed slightly at the question "Well, I was a little preoccupied with the wooden teeth behind me. I didn't think, too much, about my path. Clipped my wing on some kind of vine thing." She looked at the wing in question, remembering that she'd also decided- "Also,I think it might've been poisonous.... I might need to get back to Ponyville, soon, to treat it." she wondered if Hawthorne would be awake, this time at night. She'd hate to disturb him, but this might actually be urgent.
  25. Rose heard a sound, and started. Thinking it might be another creature, she readied herself to run again, but stopped when the voice spoke. She sighed in relief. It was only a pony. Could it be Hawthorne? She knew nopony else who'd be foolish enough to venture this far into the forest. Well, aside from herself, she guessed. Then again, she didn't really know anypony else here, anyway. but no. This pony sounded like a mare, and... was she speaking in rhyme? She looked and saw a black and white earth pony standing on the hill. with what looked to be a jar of fireflies around her neck. Tho she'd never seen a pony with a striped coat before, she figured it might be rude to point it out. "Oh, thank Celestia." she sighed in relief "I thought, for a minute, you were another one of those Timberwolf things." she chuckled as she scratched the back of her head. She walked toward the pony, letting her guard down a little. This pony seemed to know what she was doing, so she figured she could at least trust her to not blunder them into danger. "I suppose 'mostly' is the key word, there." she said as she approached the mare, stretching her wing which had been deeply scratched on the underside from fore to aft, tearing clean through for a few inches near the end. She winced audibly before putting her wing back down. "Ouch." she whispered.
