  1. Argh, it was impossible to walk like this. Aloe kept stumbling with her 4 left hooves. It was a gift from Celestia she had managed to get this far. At least her blue jester costume was holding up pretty well, it was becoming a little soiled on her right side from falling over so often but so far no rips or tears were appearing. Maybe she would just lean against this tree for a while and catch her breath. She could make her offering then. Hopefully all her candy wasn't smashed by her tumbles. To her, candy was candy, but she would like to leave something nice for Princess Luna. She idly stared at the statue and the sizable heap of candy that was forming in front of it. "What does she do with it all?" she wondered aloud. 'Lets see, if every pony gives up 1/5th of their candy. If each pony gathered 50 pieces that makes about 10 candies from each pony. Thats easily over a 1000 pieces of Candy from Ponyville alone. Manehattan, Trottingham, and Catnerlot would only add more to that. And if I assume 20 calories per treat thats 20,000 from ponyville alone.' "I wonder how many calories you burn when you raise the moon."
  2. It took Aloe a moment to recognize her repeat customer in the Princess Costume. If it weren't for the voice she might have gotten halfway to a bow before realizing who it really was. Unfortunately it put her at a disadvantage; when discord appeared it was Aloe who was distracted not the Draconequus. She only got a good look at him before she found herself tumbling in the darkness. No chance to throw pies or stick amusing signs to the creatures back. She once again found herself on the ground hatless. Next year she would ask rarity for a strap to keep any headgear attached. She rolled herself over and tried to reach for it but couldn't quite seem to move her legs right. Her two 'right' hooves were covered in blue spots and looked funny. "Oh dear." she whispered to herself now struggling to try and stand on her 4 left hooves. After a few attempts which only ended with her lying on the ground again she managed to shakily stand. She tried to reach for her hat once more but only managed to fall forwards. This time using her teeth and her 'left' left hooves she managed to get a grip on it and fix it on her head though it wasn't anywhere near straight. "Is everypony else all right?" she asked. She stood rather still afraid if she tried to walk over to anyone she would just fall again. Though she would have to make her way out of the forest somehow.
  3. "N-no. And I don't really care to find out tonight. Lets... Lets just keep moving." she peered down the darkened path the thing had gone down. Perhaps one day when Zecora visited she would ask. She started trotting down the path at a somewhat quicker pace; wanting to put some distance between the thing and herself. She decided to explain the trick she had botched. Partially because he didn't seem to understand and partially to try and get her mind off whatever that thing was. "No, I'm Aloe." she pushed the cap up a little so her mane could be seen. "Lotus is the opposite colors, we just switched costumes. We were going to try and fool Miss Rarity and Fluttershy but we haven't seen either of them all night*." She thought for a moment as she slowed her pace, perhaps it would allow her to get the drop on Discord. Make him think that she shrugged off his magic easily. That would be quite the fluke if it did work. ((* Heh.))
  4. ((Everfree forest. Red Eyes. What have you done.)) "... no that won't work. You can't buy a sombrero at this hour." Aloe's head jerked up as she heard Snails talking. "Hello again," she had forgotten about the costume switch after her fright this past hour. "What were you saying?" The colt had stopped talking and was once again staring at something outside of Aloe's range of vision. She slowly turned to face the point of his nervous laughter. A pair of glowing red eyes glared out from the treeline. There was a sound of hooves treading against dirt and Aloe could sense the creature getting closer. She began backing to the far side of the path, pushing Snails with her.
  5. ((Just pointing out that Aloe and Lotus switched costumes after the 3rd night in an effort to confuse ponies. Aloe was wearing red at those points. Now it’s blue. We didn't pull it off as well as I had hoped.)) The Blue costumed spa pony had stood dumbfounded at the entrance to the forest for quite a while before deciding to reenter. Had she really scared or at least startled the Princess of the night? She had to admit, scaring the pony who was previously Nightmare Moon, even inadvertently, was quite an accomplishment. She wondered if with a little luck she could do the same to Discord who ponies had seen in this forest. A little nagging pony in the back of her head told her that it probably wasn't possible but the allure of the possibility was too much to ignore. Plus there was the fact that Lotus had had been personally pranked by the Chaos being. Not to mention the time he turned their hot tub to gelatin, filled the mud baths with chocolate pudding, and left ice sculptures of himself on the roof of the spa. Yes, there was definitely a bit of a score to settle, the question was how. A sudden noise and a smoke filled costume probably wouldn't do it. She doubted she could pull a fluke like that off again anyways. Disguising herself as Twilight Sparkle, the Ponyville Hero? She didn't have the time. She began muttering her ideas aloud, this was kind of exciting. "Maybe a simple prank would work the best, the more steps the more chances to fail. A whipped cream pie might work! But I don't have a pie tin. Perhaps an 'Imprison me with the Elements of Harmony' sign stuck to his back. But how would I sneak up on him I would need a distraction. Sneezing powder plus a trick handkerchief? Now there's an idea..." All these ideas floating through her head and she wasn't noticing the Spooky atmosphere of the forest at all. In fact she wasn't noticing much of anything; she was libel to bump into somepony or something.
  6. The blue costumed spa pony continued bolting down the path. She spotted a path marked with a return arrow off to the side of the road. It was much more dimly lit but she didn't care at this point. She continued running not becoming any less frightened at this point. When it came to fears being devoured by shadows was probably at the top. In the dark she spotted a point where the path seemed to reconnect at the entrance to the forest. She put on another boost of speed eager to finally get out. She could glimpse what looked like a taller pony with a starry mane. However with her eyes off the path she tripped on a low root and came sprawling out behind the princess. It was a particularly nasty fall and her left fore-hoof slammed into pocket of pranking materials concealed under her costume triggering a 'BANG' pellet and a smoke bomb. The pellet went off with a noise like lightning leaving the twins ears ringing as the smoke bomb insider her costume caused black smoke to come flowing out the gaps in her costume around her neck and hooves. She looked more like a cloud of smoke wearing a costume than a pony. There was a loud scream coming from somepony but the spa pony couldn't see a thing. A coughing fit or two later and the smoke finally started clearing. The Princess was nowhere to be seen having bolted up the path but it looked like she had dropped two candies in an attempt to appease this 'monster'. She made a note to stop by the monument later and leave a more generous offering.
  7. Aloe herself was half a step below panicking. She desperately tried to catch her breath. "I have no idea..." she tried to think up some explanation but couldn't come up with anything. Her wits were rather useless half scared and majorly befuddled by the way this place seemed to bend reality Whats more she didn't see any 'EXIT' that this room had claimed. In fact they seemed more trapped than before. The only option appeared to the ominous button. Pushing buttons that when you had no idea of their function was usually a bad idea but they didn't seem to have many options. She was immediately thrown back into one of the white chairs as a invisible force pushed her back. A loud sound that could only be described as a roaring shook the whole room. Having never witnessed a rocket launch Aloe had no idea what was going on. A small capsule shaped room was ejected from the haunted house and skidded across an empty field before grinding to a halt. A small ping was heard and the door slid open again. ((Edit: I really over did it there. Sure its Pinkie Pie but come on, a secret rocket. Thats stretching it a bit far.)) Aloe wobbled to her feet shaking from head to hoof. Sh scooped up her hat and placed it on her head backwards too rattled to notice. "I have a thing... to do at a place... Bye..." She tripped again as she exited the capsule room and stumbled off in the general direction of the Spa.
  8. After meeting with her sister the Spa pony had made her way to the Everfree. Her costume that of a fanciful blue jester. A few jingling bells on her hat only added to the costume. Though a cape marked with a black club and spade hinted at something a bit more malicious. Fresh white and blue face paint only served to make her look more devious. She had been trying to pick up her pace through the forest without breaking into a run. Half on half off the path trying to stay out of the light. Something unworldly was following her, she was sure of it. She took another glance over her shoulder. It was still back there. The ghostly unicorn covered in flames. It was the second most terrifying thing she had seen that night and it just kept following her. She tried to speed up a little but kept getting slowed down by low branches and thick roots of trees. She turned back now there were two... wait. No the other thing wasn't a ghost. Wasn't that Sheriff pony she had seen in the Haunted House? Was she actually trying to sneak up on the spirit? She stopped and tensed up further. A gust of wind shook the trees causing a nearby one to tug on her costume. She openly shrieked and took off down the forest path.
  9. There wasn't even sound from the terrified pink pony only blurs of movement. She moved surprisingly quickly for a costume that appeared to be difficult to move in. She immediately bolted towards a door marked with a glowing 'EXIT' sign with a taped piece of cardboard reading 'Express Emergency'. This room was surprisingly well lit and completely white. There were a number of comfortable looking chairs, also white, all facing one direction. The only thing not white was a large red button sitting next to one of them. The door behind her slid closed slowly with a clang and hiss sealing her any anypony else who managed to get inside before the door closed.
  10. Aloe tumbled backwards with less grace than she would have liked, cotton candy cobwebs completely covering her costume. It seemed to be a reoccurring happening for her tonight. Falling, tumbling, crashing, very unpleasant. Though looking at the other pony in a soaked sheriffs costume, she admitted it could be worse. She pulled herself to her feet and pushed herself against the door before fully registering what the cream colored pony said. She blinked a moment. "Did you say Alligator?" She vividly remembered that Pinkie Pie owned such a creature for a pet. That day at the spa was one of Pinkies more chaotic visits. Ever since then the pet had been banned from entering on Wednesdays. "It wouldn't happen to be about a foot and a half long, with beady eyes and no teeth would it?" she asked the mare. She heard another male voice shouting in the distance. "We're over here!" she called back, though if her guess was right there was significantly less danger. Gummy could be a terror in the water but Aloe doubted his ability to climb a staircase like that. Or his ability to be all that scary out of the water. He didn't exactly move across the land with the greatest speed.
  11. Aloe heard a shrieking from one of the closed doors. Not a ghoulish shrieking that occasionally emanated from the hidden speakers but a genuine scream. She pulled open the heavy door and tried to peer down into the darkness. It sounded like somepony was coming up the stairs in a hurry.
  12. ((DJPP it would help if you could state if Turns is wearing a costume or not. Based on previous threads I'm assuming Inisght is not based on their posts in other threads. Seems like they're too focused on their research to bother having fun. So correct me if I'm wrong. You can click on Aloe's name down below and see the description of her I put in my post on the first night. Also I don't think they're nights in the typical sense. More like hour long blocks. Nights is what we call them because we have 24 hours to post.)) After her encounter with the princess Haywire and Rose had left. Aloe, the pink spa sister, had had tenatively tried a door only to have it slam behind her. She immediately gripped the handle only to have the whole thing come loose from the wall like it was some kind of prop. Behind was just a plain wood wall. It boggled her mind. How does such a thing even work. She couldn't help but feel that something more than just magic and clever building at work. She wondered if it would even be possible to map a place like this. She and her sister would have to come back later tonight. For the moment though Aloe appeared to be in a cobweb covered hallway. She spotted another pony at the far end and started pushing her way through the webs to get to the other side. A small amount got in her mouth and she immeiately spat it out but was confused as she did so. Was it... sweet? She looked to her hoof covered in the stuff, looking closer maybe it wasn't real spiderwebs but very fine white cotton candy. Aloe grimiced and licked it off her hoof. She had to give Pinkie points for ingenuity this time it was a stunning effect. She shouted out to the pony she couldn't quite make out still a distance away obscured by the cotton candy webs. "Somepony over there?"
  13. ((I can't help but feel that there is a princess shaped hole in the wall. How exactly do you fly out of the interior of a building if the windows are nailed shut?)) As Aloe scooped up her sun-shaped treat she noticed it smelled faintly of mouth watering oranges. She tucked it next to the candies she suspected were from Princess Luna. She had to admire Pinkies forethought in building this place. This room was lit by natural moonlight through a large hole in the wall that extended up to the second floor. If she squinted she could just barely make out a painting of a disappointed looking unicorn glaring down at them. "Haywire? We're over here!" She couldn't quite see the ghost pony but she suspected she was only one or two rooms away. ((Aloe will be continuing in this location, see everypony who's willing to stick around in the next thread.))
  14. "Oh sorry. I'm Aloe. My sister and I run the Spa in town. Its near the joke shop, if you know where that is... Is something wrong?" he seemed distracted by something. Before she could turn Haywire went running past the two and a fourth pony had entered the room. She heard a familiar click as the pony stepped onto a trigger. Aloe immediately spotted the cake door opening to her side "You may want..." her warning to the mare came too late. "to duck." She couldn't help but giggle a little at the werewolf now looking far less intimidating covered in black and orange icing. "Sorry, sorry. Here." Aloe reached into the folds of her costume and pulled out a non-pranked handkerchief. The one covered in charcoal black make-up would be used another time. She carefully handed it to the Unicorn. "I suppose we can expect a few catapulted confections tonight."
  15. "Oh its a Parasprite!" Aloe discovered after looking a little closer. The light was terrible in here, it was hard to make out details. They certainly were distressing creatures but she couldn't say they were the scariest, at least compared to falling through a trapdoor into a pitch dark slide. "I'm very surprised. Though I'm a little confused too on how I got here. I thought I was following somepony in the House of Mirrors but now... This is Pinkies Haunted house isn't it?" "And, Haywire is it? You say you say you saw Nightmare Moon in the forest? I could have sworn... maybe what I saw was just somepony in costume." her head bobbled as she tried to comprehend how somepony could be in two places at once. She turned back to snails with a slightly malicious grin. "We should do that. I have a few tricks of my own I'd like to show Pinkie Pie." She thought to what she had in her pockets. Perhaps the slippery lotion might be the best start.
  16. There was a crack of what sounded like lightning from somewhere. Aloe couldn't quite make out the direction. She could also hear another, much louder voice. Even though Aloe hadn't made it to Princess Luna's arrival last time she could still hear it from miles away. However with all the mirrors and echoing it was impossible to make out what was being said. Aloe began running blindly through the maze hitting a mirror or two. She glimpsed a orange pony passed out further down the path. She tried to get across to him but instead ran into a sheet of clear glass. Or something, it seemed to bend and repel rather than smash her face. Some unicorn was probably having a laugh at her expense. She turned trying to find another path around but instead caught a glimpse of a starry tail. She tried to follow it as it disappeared but it seemed to be going into an even more complex area of the maze. She was about to try and turn back when she spotted a silver wrapped candy on the ground. The carefully picked it up and examined it a little more closely. A wonderfully creamy aroma filled her nostrils. Were these Canterlot Creamed Chocolate Truffles? If she remembered correctly they were made by a eccentric baker who only made a batch once a week, they were supposedly one of the best sweets available on the market. You don't just find these. She began hunting around carefully to see if there were any others around. She spotted another silver wrapper by a mirror that was half turned out revealing a secret path. Maybe whoever was leaving these was showing a way out? She didn't really have any more options so she followed the secret pathway.
  17. While she appeared to have found some candy Aloe was still lost in the maze of mirrors. Maybe she was on the right path though. The route only twisted and turned instead of branching every few feet. After a few more bumps she ended up at another dead end. However, instead of a black wall or just a plain mirror there was a large pink tinted balloon shaped mirror with what appeared to be a hoof sized indent in the middle? She tentatively placed a hoof on the mark and felt something grab onto her. Before she could react she was pulled through into the middle of what appeared to be a haunted house. She teetered for a moment before ultimately losing her balance. Aloe scooped up the hat of her costume and quickly turned around. She only caught a glimpse of a Sparkling white sun shaped mirror before a clicking sound was heard and the wall revolved away. There wouldn't be any going back through that portal, if it even worked two ways. She took a more careful look of her surroundings. The room was strangely empty, particularly jarring was the lack of door. There were no exits to be seen other than a mouse hole on the far wall. A number of arrows were painted on the wooden wall with what looked like blood. (In reality it was a mixture of ketchup and hot sauce, a special Pinkie concoction that looked realer than real blood and it tastes delicious if you're a little crazy.) With no other options Aloe went over and tried to peer through the hole. It looked like there was something a foot or so inside but before she could try and reach in the floor sunk an inch or so and another click was heard. "Uh..." before she could finish the trapdoor completely slid out from under her. She shrieked as she slid through a hidden passage filled with cobwebs before landing on a dusty old mattress. A painting of a stern looking Earth Pony Stallion slid back into place hiding the hole. She trebled a little as she gathered her fallen cap once again. "That... that was good. I'll have to 'thank' Pinkie for that one." She whispered to herself. It really was clever, it would be hard to concoct a prank of equal surprise and hilarity. She squinted through the settling dust and spotted a costumed colt. She couldn't quite make out who it was through the insectoid costume. She picked herself up and walked over catching him say something that she couldn't quite make out. "Who?"
  18. Aloe's ears twitched inside her hat. It sounded like there were two ponies there and something with paws, maybe, she wasn't sure. They sounded very close but there was a row of mirrors separating her from the other two. She pushed on the glass hoping it would give way and spin in a comical fashion. It did not. "Is anypony over there?"
  19. One of the Spa sisters wandered the mirrored halls. She was quite pleased with how the night was going so far. Of the three 'T's of Nightmare Night, Tricks Treats Terror, she managed the second one. Various houses were giving away candy like it was... well candy. Her pockets that weren't filled with 'humor paraphernalia' were mostly stuffed with sweets. She would have to make a stop by the forest at some point. If she didn't give some of it away her sweet tooth would probably get the best of her and she'd end up with a stomachache. She was most pleased with her costume however. Jesters of old. A silly cap with a trio of bells dangling atop three points that drooped to the sides of her head. White makeup, accented with red, covered up the natural rose color of her coat. Rarity had really outdone herself with the clothing however. A clever and whimsical white suit hid much of her coat and tail making it difficult to ascertain that it was really Aloe under the makeup. To top it all off was a sweeping red cape that almost touched the ground. On her left side a blue diamond was stitched into the side and on the right a heart. It was nice to have clients who were talented seamstresses. Especially when that clients services could be bought by offering them a Ultra-Deluxe voucher for the spa. The various fun-house mirrors were amusing. There were the standard tall, wide, and squiggly types but a few more interesting ones that had to have been magic. One instead of reflecting her simply rotated her image 90 degrees. One gave her a horn and wings, she stared at that one for quite a while admiring her 'reflection'. And bizarrely one instead of reflecting a pony showed a frowning teapot. While they were all interesting mirrors wasn't the reason she was here, Tricks and Terror were here objectives. She found herself drawn to a single door labeled 'MAZE'. However it turned out to be a little more than she could handle. After wandering what felt like an hour she was completely lost. She had thought keeping her left hoof on the wall would help, and it probably would have if it had just been a standard Earth Pony maze. However Aloe suspected there might a little magic making things more difficult for her. Either the walls were moving or space was being twisted around itself. While the former was more likely with the Princess having designed the maze either option was a possibility. Every now and then when she looked back it seemed like the paths changed. Of course it was hard to tell with the mirrors but it all seemed too complex. The building looked fairly small on the outside? How could you build such a large maze in such a small area? She heard another voice echoing out the children's tune. It had been YEARS since she had said it herself. Of course she and her sister had their own way when they would alternate every other beat. Adults had found it very cute usually got them the best candy. It was a little odd that someone be saying it inside here though, was it some sort of Marco Polo idea? She called back. "Give us something sweet to... Is somepony out there?"
  20. Ashton continued watching the pair out of the corner of his eye. Rose was a familiar name. He was almost certain that she was Inkwell's sister. He wasn't sure if he should go over and try to talk with them. He wouldn't try the same with a Griffin. He kept staring at his newspaper. Apparently young fillies and colts were getting home schooled more often lately. Magic Kindergarten enrollment was down. Or was Magic Kindergarten a private schooling system? He wasn't really sure. The loud laughter of the Black unicorn caused his head to involuntarily jerk up. Had something funny been said? It must have been quite the joke because she wasn't stopping. At times like these he understood why many griffins thought ponies were crazy. He couldn't help but stare as she kept laughing and fell to the ground. Was she alright? He made a move as if to get up but decided against it. It looked like she was getting up. He settle back down with his paper. He'd wait for an open moment to interject or maybe just follow them until they split up. If worse came to worse he could always just forget about it and move onto Trottingham or Ponyville. He doubted Inkwell's sister would be able to help him anyway.
  21. Ashton Stone lay down on the edge of a small flowerbed in the side street. He was trying to get as much warmth from the sun as possible while reading his newspaper. He needed to find a more permanent place to stay either in Canterlot or elsewhere but he wasn't finding anything in this newspaper. Plenty of homes for sale but no calls for a roommate. And he just couldn't afford to buy a house. Still, at least the rest of this newspaper was interesting. He had no idea what ponies were all doing with magic while on the other side Griffins were developing technology. He could see why Lola was so interested. He kind of wanted to stay if only to find a tutor. He looked up as a pair of unicorns headed in his general direction. The Red one looked familar, wasn't she the one running with Cat Napper for that short while at the running of the leaves? He looked back down at his newspaper as they grew closer and started talking. He pretended to keep reading while eavesdropping on their conversation.
  22. It was going to be close. Ashton could tell that much. That grey pony with the weird accent seemed to have a bit of an lead but the others were closing the gap. Himself included. He wanted to win more than anything, but, he wasn't a competitor. He skidded to a stop as the pack reached the crowd with less than 200m to go. He moved off the track to the side and tried to catch his breath as he squinted to see who was going to win. 'Next year will be different. Maybe I should do some training.' he thought to himself as the racers got nearer and nearer to the line. He held his hoof up to shield his eyes from the lowering sun when a red blur with a beige blur riding it barreled past him causing him to miss the final seconds. "Tailfeathers." he muttered.
  23. Ashton galloped along the edged of the track with the runners. At least a few of them seemed to have some fight left in them. Which was good. Even if he wasn't an official competitor, it didn't mean he couldn't run as hard as the rest of them. A little nagging thought stuck in the back of his head that he only had to run about one-third of the race compared to the others he was nowhere near as worn out as the others. That was true, but if he 'did' have the endurance as well as the speed he was sure he could be a top competitor and he wanted to prove it. Not to the other runners but to himself. He think he had it for speed. Whenever he ran he seemed to be able to at least keep pace with the faster racers. He passed a few slowpokes as he came around the final curve. He could see the stands in the distance. He tilted his head forward and started sprinting trying to catch up with the leaders. The Griffin and the others who had helped her seemed to be starting to tire out. Of course they had been leading the pack the whole race it couldn't have been easy. He heard her yell out a taunt to the other racers. She seemed to have quite the pony vendetta. Strange she was in pony lands if she had this issue. But he couldn't focus on that. "Less talking!" * "More running!"
  24. ((OoC: Sorry about taking so long with this. Got caught up in the running and the start of classes again. Unfortunately Ashton doesn't have much to say about Martini/Brazil shipping since that went completely over his head.)) "Really?" he turned his head to the entrance noticing the lack of light coming from outside. "I really should get going then. I'll be leaving at dawn and I should really get enough sleep." He didn't mention the fact that he wanted to keep his hooves on his bits he had. He gulped down the rest of his drink and stood up. "I probably won't be coming back this way unfortunately, but if you ever stop in Rockwington you're welcome to visit." he offered. Sadly he thought it was unlikely. Why would a pony like her visit a city like Rockwington? "Thank you though. For listening I mean." He couldn't really express it in words but it was nice to just have sompony to listen.
  25. Completely bewildering was what it was. Didn't these ponies care about winning at all? This was a competition not some sort of fun run. Didn't the race mean anything to these ponies. Nobody was getting hurt by the sap so nothing was wrong with taking advantage of it. "Don't mention it." he offered. He knew that tone and had been half expecting it. Had the situations been reversed his response probably would have been similarly unenthusiastic. "But shouldn't you all get going? Or are you just going to stand here?"
