  1. If you want a good "oldie but goodie that got cancelled," Dragon Half is a -great- watch.
  2. Made in Abyss still makes me cry, omg. I need to rewatch it.
  3. If you need more endorsement, watch the first half of this video (after that is heavy spoilers):
  4. Watch Made in Abyss. It's one of my top anime of all time, in the same pantheon of the greats like FMA:B and Cowboy Bebop. Symphy: *adds that song to her Spotify*
  5. Aah, Dino is posting music. I raise you something that might cause side effects. Catchy!
  6. You should watch Shimoneta and get it over with.
  7. Okee! You know what makes this more charming? They named Squall SCOOBY but left the other characters their default names. Missed opportunity for a SHAGGY and FRED.
  8. That was probably a different Rosie. If you have a dream Rosie, I probably look like this: My little sis made that! Haaaa.
  9. I feel that crushing disappointment interacting with anyone outside of my room. I found a bag of cosmetics that my neighbor gave to me and I put on my dresser then forgot about for a while. It was neat re-discovering all the cool stuff in it. I might be going to the beach tomorrow with my little sis. It depends on how early I can get home from work/sleep.
  10. I just saw we're getting a season 2 -- no release date, just it's in production. Oooooh yeah!
  11. Rokka no Yuusha spins a good mystery story, check it out! Dat character design: Each main character is based on an animal. Some are obvious, others are more nebulous and kinda fun to figure out. A great whodunnit.
  12. I think there's a difference between gore and violence just cause, and gore/violence to push the story forward. Parasyte and MiA do this as a means to propel and enrich the story, and it's not just for the sake of having it. FMA:B is a perfect balance between story and squick moments. You should check out Elfen Lied (best opening ever) and Brynhildr in the Darkness. Incidentally both of these are by the same mangaka. I also found this, which I think is really neat:
  13. I'm glad the recommendations nailed Rocky in the crossfire. The reasons I recommended SAO: It's very mainstream. It's part of a Japanese genre rife with MMO-involved stories. It's arguable that .hack actually started it, but I feel like SAO finished it. In spite of its faults, it does tell an accessible yarn with likable characters. I only finished the first arc in season 2 before it went harem-mode and I lost interest. The new spinoff season with the pink girl looks interesting and it's on my watch list. It introduced the idea of a fairly new anime becoming part of western mainstream consciousness on an accessible timeline. You can watch it on almost every platform out there. I recommended it for the same reason I recommended DBZ -- it's an anime that changed something about anime genre and how we consume it, in spite of any reservations or criticism it may garner. You can also just watch Made in Abyss. One Piece you could probably polish off if you binged it this summer. That's a saga in itself and thoroughly worth the trip if you have the time and invest yourself. It feels kinda cool being part of a group that's followed this monster for 850+ episodes.
  14. Symph mentioned congee earlier. So good! I actually made it in culinary arts, and lightly flavored it with five spice. Then my partner decided to fling a fistful of salt in there and the Professor said "Good flavor, but too much salt." I was like
  15. Watch the "classics" first. The mainstream anime that are everywhere. It's for good reason they're part of the media consciousness they are, for better or worse. Some of them on the list I'd recommend: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Dragonball Z. These are the True Greats imo. Their stories and characters stand as icons in their own right, for different reasons. If I had to recommend just two from that list, Fullmetal and Cowboy Bebop, period. If you haven't seen those, watch them and give them a real chance. Rosie's popular side favorites (off the top of her head): Made in Abyss, Kill la Kill, Steins;Gate, One Piece, Attack on Titan, Death Note, Fate/Zero, Sword Art Online (this one can be polarizing, but it's the gold standard for the lost-in-MMO genre). Oldies but definite goodies: Sailor Moon, Trigun, Outlaw Star, Samurai Pizza Cats (yes, really!). I feel like you're not going to look into any of these recommendations and just enjoy getting our reaction to the usual "what anime should I watch?" question you seem to field every month or so.
  16. It sounds like new-yah-la-oi. Feel better, Dino. Feed a cold, eh?
  17. You too, my darling pup! Rocky, that's awful. Watching someone die really gives you perspective for your own life and choices, and how quickly things can go wrong for a person. Anyway... Symphy, I found this song and thought you might like it. It's awesome!
  18. You know what you should watch? Ancient Magus Bride. MiA manga had had some pretty nice updates lately. We've got giant jelly slug monsters, suicide squads, spicy testicles, mouth-eyes that spit out tentacles, here-let-me-rip-off-my-arm-for-you-to-barter-with, a shiny new White Whistle, and the ever-present crowd-favorite: robot penis!
  19. Speaking of love, Rosie's song 'o the day:
  20. Let's be honest, space isn't very nice to dinos...especially when it comes to you! I finished Ancient Magus Bride. My gawd so good. I feel like anime is in another golden renaissance. LOOK AT THESE TWO. SO CUTE
  21. @SymphonicFire Do you need your Wolf Mother to go with you? I will. @PatchworkPsycho Let me down slowly? No way, we do take downs around here: Oh yeah, I'm totally current on MHA! That last episode with Frog Princess crying was heartbreaking! Pemby, Anime is a basic law of the Universe. It's the Milky Way version of the Force. It flows through us, is part of us; it binds us and guides us. I added Cells at Work to my list 'o stuff to watch.
  22. Please tell me it was these: I would definitely recommend. If you decide you don't like the piercing, you can just let it heal. I don't recommend getting it done at the mall -- go to a legit, clean tattoo studio. It will run you more, but they also know what they're doing and have good standards of cleanliness, follow-up and aftercare. I got a second one on my ears a few months ago and it healed stupid fast. Piercings are like giving yourself shots (which I do!), the idea is more cringe than actually doing it.
  23. Yeee my ears have two piecings each right now. I've got little stars and purple opals set in pink titanium. I bit Fawkes once. He looked a bit like this after:
