  1. um... is it cheating to post another post just for the sake of posting a third post? If so I'll wait patiently for an opportunity to post something more substantial. Don't want to run afoul of the rules on my first day.
  2. Thanks for the warm welcome everypony! I've been looking for a community with more of a "community feel" if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, EQD and FIMfiction are superamazingtastic but sometimes it's easy to feel lost in the crowd. Stumbled across this site, and I think I've found something great!
  3. My first draft of this intro played the highfalutin language card for laughs. Heh... not the most original route. My name is Mysecsha. If you've heard of me, it's probably because you've read my fic, Wild Sky Yonder: http://www.equestria...sky-yonder.html If so, thanks for reading. I'm proud of it, and the people who read it seem to like it. I like to think my "becoming a Brony" story is pretty good: My wife had to take a professional certification exam down in the state capitol back in october. It was an 8 hour exam that started early in the morning so we rode down the night before. That night at the hotel my snoring was keeping her awake. She was very upset and nervous about the test and she needed some sleep, so I did what any good husband would do: I left. I went out to the car, drove around the city for a while, got some caffiene in me, settled back into the driver's seat in the hotel parking lot in the cold, cold night and set about staying awake so she could sleep. I'd run across a few of the pony memes. I'd even been to the bronies corner of memebase. But I didn't really know what it was about. I had, however, heard that Q was in the season 2 premiere... and my wife and I are both big TNG fans. From 2-6 AM, and then after I dropped her off at the test, my Android's data plan screamed for mercy as I watched ALL of season 1, LIKE A BAWSS. (If I had had a way to buy it and download it, that would have been a better way to spend the $ I wound up spending on data overage). We continued on to visit my parents for the remainder of the weekend, where I snuck out of bed to catch up on season 2. (The wife, sad to say, is willing to humor me but is not a pega-sis.) Fast forward to today: Ever since I started listening to the Writing Excuses podcast I've wanted to be a writer. It's not the most responsible thing, to pursue a writing career with a family to think about, so I promised my wife I wouldn't start writing seriously until I finished school. (6 weeks left on that, btw) turns out I didn't keep that promise super-well. Between 2 classes, full-time work, and domestic life... one short chapter every other week is the best I can manage right now. I wish I was writing more. edit: I feel like I wasn't very clear here. See this? This is why I need so many drafts to write something fit for consumption. So trying again: I'm 26 (Months away from 27 OH NOES!! I am an old man), I've been married for just about a year and a half, I'm finishing up my undergrad in Math & Econ, and pursuing a career in risk anaylsis/actuarial science. I'm passionate about writing and wish I had more time for it, and I dream of being a published author -- though I believe that dream is ~10 years away. I'd never considered writing fanfic in any setting (though I'd been daydreaming Homeworld and Star Wars fiction since I was 15 or so) until this past Thanksgiving weekend. Couldn't sleep, had this great idea for a fic starring Soarin'. Stayed up all night 2 nights in a row slamming it out, submitted it to EQD and... rejection. "Emo soarin' mopes for 3000 words then makes googly eyes at the mane 6" was how the pre-reader put it. Looking back I can laugh about it now. It really was that bad. One thing led to another and shortly before Christmas I put out chapter 1 of Wild Sky Yonder. Making Spitfire the mane character brought the whole project together. Oh crap I've lapsed into pitching my story again haven't I? Oh well, let's run with it: If you like adventure and friendshipping, heroism and slightly naughty humor, you might like WSY!
