  1. If Niilaavin's words were meant to quell the jealous pangs in Spoiled's heart, he didn't take quite the right tack. To plant in her mind the vision of herself as a great and regal matriarch, whose grace, guidance and affection were actively courted by young males seeking to make a great and powerful kingdom... She had felt something like that, once, long ago. When she and Filthy were courting... fulfilling her desire to be desired. The fact that Filthy never even seemed to acknowledge there could ever be a rival to his affection for her, that none would ever again ply their charms to her affection. And while she had felt for some time that her husband had been taking her for granted, it was only lately that she felt he rated her worth as not worth his own efforts. *And is it even worth my time to tell him to love me as he should?* As long as he was the only one she could hope for, obviously, but dark and forbidden hopes, she was realizing, had long since been stirring in her. Perhaps nothing would come of them... but going as far as she could, right now, would at least put with wind up Filthy and remind him that he could lose her if he didn't care to keep her! "Aha, very well! Let us cast aside our cares, as this vacation was meant to. Take me away, Niilaavin, show me freedom!"
  2. Mmm, nice to see a kirin in the works! Only bit of feedback is that in-universe, the language is called Equestrian rather than English. Do PM me when you finish it so I can approve!
  3. Oh, so this wasn't a "Wait like a good filly for mama" place, this was a "go and play with the other fillies" place? Sometimes grown-ups could forget that little foals didn't always know the difference. Although, to be fair, Ambrosia was the rare filly that naturally erred on the "wait for mama" side. But if playing wouldn't risk ice cream priviliges, why not? The fact that no such privileges had actually been offered by mama were secondary. She could see a stallion eating ice cream some tables over, along with other things. And, if you brought a little foal to a place that served ice cream, ice cream there would be. QED. "Can I go play, mama?" Once the inevitable OK was given, she would happily hop down to go and join her brother, though she didn't dive into the ball pit alongside. Instead, she was drawn to the surly-looking filly on the edge, who surely needed a dose of her own cuteness to cheer her up. "Howdy! I'm Ambrosia!" She said, beaming in a bright and freckled way that had never failed before to turn a frown upside-down!
  4. Beaming at having her expertise acknowledged, Ambrosia cogitated over the next query her authoritative voice was called for. What would she be the Princess of? Dresses or Apples, dresses or apples? It was a hard question, tugging her between two parts of her heart. Pretty Dresses, family tradition... oh, wait, the answer was obvious. "Princess of Apples *and* Dresses!" She called out decisively and triumphantly, only to find that this declaration would have consequences! The whole farm, because she was Princess of Apples!?... Actually, that made total sense, now that she thought about it. But that raised further questions; she was the Princess of Dresses too, so that meant... "And Auntie Rarity's shop too?"
  5. "I thought not." Haven's amusement was more quiet, but she went on. "But I would say, if you were married, you would know that it is rather unwise to insist on decision-making primacy, whether or not one party ends up having it. Usually the balance is idiosyncratic, with arrangements like one partner deciding 90% of things, but the other having absolute veto and override on whatever 10% they decide. It doesn't do to put things like that into a written constitution, but they are essential for a functioning relationship."
  6. Twilight sure was using a lot of words, in a way that Ambrosia saw all grown ups do when they thought she didn't know what she was talking about. Which was ridiculous! If there was anything the cutest little filly in Equestria would know about, it was being pretty and who else was pretty. It was time for the student to become the master, and set her teacher straight on the facts of life! She put her hoof down, stating definitively, "You are pretty. You're a Princess!" It was just so blindingly obvious to her, the two were practically equivalent terms! But now it was time to come to the important part of the question. "I'm pretty. Will I be a Princess?"
  7. Hugging her mama back, Ambrosia felt proud of herself. Well, in a different manner than she usually did. Not because of her inherent cuteness, but because she was now fully participating in what was most important to her mama: family. "Thanks mama! I'll see you after lessons!" Though the full implications of the conversation between the two adults was, like their muzzles, all over her head, she did catch that mama thought Twilight was cute and pretty. Which of course she was, all Princesses were cute and pretty! That was why she, as a cute and pretty filly, had such a princess affinity. QED. Actually, though, that brought up a question: She had heard that Twilight was not always a Princess, so what exactly changed for her to become one? Could Ambrosia actually become a Princess too? These vaguely conceptualized curiosities came out in a question to answer a question: "Twilight, were you always that pretty?"
  8. Ice Cream!? A rare treat, but one which Amby had started to notice orange-mama being willing to indulge her in on several occasions. Given that sweet and creamy things were entirely appropriate to a pretty filly with Princess aspirations, the good behavior inducement was enough to make her sit still and smile sweetly, even as the minutes without food stretched out longer and longer... Well, as long as it wasn't too long, she could sustain herself on her own cuteness and familial affection, which came in spades from Applejack. "Zappers went to the ball pit, mama. Does that mean he doesn't get any ice cream?"
  9. "Oh, no doubt." The Queen replied to the question, despite its rhetorical nature. "There's a large amount of goodwill about right now, one might call it a 'honeymoon period.' What's needed now is to arrange as many real ties and commitments as possible while the going is smooth, so that it becomes easier to stick together than back out when times get rough. Believe the words of a... mature mare, rough patches always come up, even among the closest tied of ponies." She wondered, internally, just what had weakened the ties the three tribes had in the past. It was, if she had to venture a guess, a long process, hidden from view at first, until at some point a crisis came up, and everypony realized that they just couldn't coordinate together. She could sense the care Flick was putting into his next question, and was careful herself in turn, as incautious wording of her points could be politically contentious, domestically as well as inter-communally. "Leadership belongs to whoever steps up and can get other ponies to listen to them. That is why the Royal Family prides itself on taking active steps to decide and implement policy. If the other communities follow their business leaders as opposed to a dynasty, well, that's who we have to talk to. I rather suspect Maretime Bay may soon find itself in a succession situation when it comes to leadership; it really depends on how politically proactive Sunny Starscout is. She is young, but from what I have seen from her with my daughters, she has natural leadership tendencies, a drive, and a goal. That gets you rather far fairly fast if you don't give up. Bridlewood, on the other hoof, seems far more stable. Alphabittle has considerably less to live down, one has to say. "As for assuming primacy in decision making..." She frowned, trying to figure out the best way to phrase this. "Let me ask this question: are you, or have you ever been, a married stallion?"
  10. Ambrosia didn't need a Princess to tell her she was special; her mama said that every day! But it was still nice to hear that, it made the statement somehow... official. She was ceremonial even in casualness, giving her the seed that would mark her entrance in the great orchard of Applekind. The little filly took it up with equal gravity, holding it in the glow of her magic. Drawing it close to her lips, she gave it a little kissy-kiss, marking it with a glowy letter 'A', not yet having the control to write her full name small name small enough to fit on a seed. That would come later, but for now, the little glowing spark of life was settled in the fertile earth, ready like her to take the long journey to full fruitful growth!
  11. "We have to re-orient ourselves to no longer being, essentially, alone in the civilized world. You know we had no official ambassadors or any diplomatic corps? Well, now we have to actually work out things with our neighbors, and need to have folks from there to do the same for us. Almost nopony's trained to do it, too; honestly, it will probably fall on us Us personally to conduct diplomacy, me and my daughters, until all the paperwork for embassies, staffing, and such get done. And with tasks like these, you just don't know all the things you never gave a thought to until it becomes a problem for someone else that's now in your life. There's apparently a river in the industrial district that feeds into the river that flows near Bridlewood, and then comes out into Maretime Bay. I anticipate considerably more issues to be raised if anything ends up dumped in there, for instance."
  12. A simple character, but looks like she could be fun! I'll unlock permissions for the WoE board.
  13. Amby clopped her little hooves together as Applejack suggested something that sounded great! Haybacon was a rare weekend treat for breakfast, and she liked salad, and ranch! "Yummy! And I'll be careful, mama." That was one thing about the filly, separate from the rest of the family, she always took great care to not be a messy eater. Unlike Zappers. Maybe she should scootch her seat some distance from him, actually; he kind of had a splash zone with anything especially greasy.
  14. With all the joyful solemnity due to the occasion, Ambrosia took the seed from Applejack, as if it were the most precious jewel that could ever be put in a crown, and slowly carried it towards Twilight. "What are you gonna do?" She asked, wide eyes, as she expected some amazing magic to happen. Was there a princess for her mother's Seedling Day? For all she knew, there could have been. Princess Celestia did grant the Apples this land herself, after all...
  15. "I would say that I have a core guard, yes. Granted, I only just recently learned who was and wasn't really part of that core, for obvious reasons." There was nothing like being broken out of jail for solidifying a friendship, that was for sure! "It's going to be a little more time, I suspect, before I feel myself ready to take on a more normal social life, though. So much still needs sorting out, both for me and for Zephyr Heights."
  16. Amby and Zap didn't always get along. It was inevitable that friction between a little colt and filly would spring up alongside their sibling harmony. But right now? All the little disputes didn't matter. He was family, and she was clinging to family right now. Who knew what would happen if she took eyes or hooves off of them? Would they get hurt and taken away too? That couldn't happen, Apples needed to stick together, and especially to her! "Don't go, Zappers... please don't go..." She sniffed.
  17. "Mmm, the lack of attention is rather the point. This is something I want to do for myself and those that care about the art, not because the eyes of all of Zephyr Heights are on me. I'd honestly do it in the castle for staff and guards only, just for my own satisfaction." Queen Haven had to remind herself that Flick wasn't necessarily slow on taking up the implications of her words, he had to ask questions at the pace of his audience, which wasn't necessarily all that quick on the uptake. "And if my Daughter's wanted to join, I'd let them, but I don't see either of them taking an interest. Pipp really does care about her streams and the technological side of things, as you said, and Zipp has always been a more outdoors sort. But that's alright, I think its healthy for families to have things they do apart as well as together; it gives them something different to talk about with each other, broaden all our horizons, you know?"
  18. To hear that she could speak without offense was... relieving. Especially since Spoiled was feeling lately that there were folks in Ponyville who just couldn't wait to take offense at anything she might say. "Thank you, though I shall try not to tax your ears too much with such things, appealing as the fantasies you describe are." That alone was dangerous to admit, but she wasn't a sphinx, so it wasn't as if it actually meant anything, right? She could never, would never be taken on so passionate a flight... why did that thought fill her with such longing and sorrow? Danger again, danger again! Niilaavin was just too damn charming for Spoiled's own good, and the mare suspected that was partly deliberate. Hadn't that been what was implied by all that talk of a rasha, and what it meant? It was just so hard for her to care all that much, soaring through the sky that birth had denied her. Seeking to get her mind onto safer subjects, even as she burrowed slightly deeper into the sphinx's warm scruff, she thought of Blueblood. "I just think of him as male unless.. Bluebelle is actually in front of me. I wouldn't have thought myself that transformation would be so kind to a pony's looks." She sighed, feeling it somehow, slightly unfair, though she couldn't describe why. "Well, however we speak of him, her, or them, he's certainly gone out of his way for you, and I'll grant that he probably does things I'd be impressed by if I knew them. It's just... two wives, really. Two loving mates, when I- when some other ponies have none, it just rankles, you know?" Ah, jealousy. The source of antipathy was finally revealed, unintentionally. A good thing secrets were safe, up here...
  19. Hello! Good to see you, friendly neighborhood admin here. And yes, the other species from the MLP universe are fair game for OC applications! PM me if you have any questions or would like any guidance on how to get started. You can also find the staff on the site Discord server: https://discord.gg/tGd7Yejy
  20. Ambrosia was actually too young to remember clearly the last time she'd eaten at Haydonalds, but it was clear that momma was giving them a treat from her tone, so she gave a cute little "Yay, Haydonals!" The funny thing was, as far as her tastes in food would end up developing, she would actually prefer fresh, non-greasy fare. Heck, she even didn't mind cabbage, unlike her brother!... if it was raw. Cooked cabbage was just stinky. In fact, if Applejack was paying attention, she might want to persuade Ambrosia to get out of The Dress before they started ordering. The tear at the school had been one thing, but getting sauce and grease stains all over it? Both she and Rarity would not give her an easy time for that...
  21. Ponies, too, had their contests of words, but Spoiled was in no mood to play at present. It was for this reason that she hunkered down a bit behind Niilaavin's mane, to avoid any potential recognition and targeting of legal letters. Let them be sent to the Prince instead, he had means of making problems like that just... go away. A royal privilege of which the Mayor was rather envious, to tell the truth. She would just let the fool blow himself over, and then if he still wanted to throw tongues with a giant riddle kitty, well, his funeral then. Besides the lack of wanting to bother, though, Spoiled was not a mare that 'flashed Saa', a phrase which would certainly find itself embedded in her personal vocabulary. "I suppose in equine metaphor, that would be 'flashing frogs', which has the advantage of alliteration as far as phraseology goes. Also some wordplay potential for riddles." She offered helpfully. "And I will say, this so far has most definitely been a flashing of Sii for me, thank you." It was true, being out in the open air was good for a pony, and being free of the reaches and concerns of reporter, lawyer, and constituency was divine. Her elevated mood might well have accounted for how well she took the unintentional innuendo. Or, at least, did not take offense; something else entirely had to be the reason behind her rejoining, "Ah, you'd much prefer to be riding me in that sense?" As soon as that phrase left her mouth, she realized that might have been going a little far. "Sorry, don't know what came over me there. Comes from having to watch my mouth so much lately, I'll go off like that once the pressure is off the lid. I don't suppose you'd like to hear what I have to say about your... Prince. You seem to hold him... them in high regard, and I'd hate to spoil your mood. All I'll say to that is, unicorns have unsure hooves."
  22. Proud as she was of her magic, Ambrosia's sense of control was not quite sufficient to give her confidence in anything but her hooves to use a spade. Empowered by the magic of momma's kisses, she set to work, breaking the soft, fertile earth as she made a hole for her seedling. "I'm a grown Apple now, so I grow apples!" Ambrosia explained, with the same plain tone that one would say the grass was green, the water wet, or her mommas were beautiful. Obvious fact of life, just like everything else Applejack had taught her. Ambrosia's horizons were not yet set beyond this farm, and this town, her ambitions unanchored to any thoughts of leaving Sweet Apple Acres... just yet, anyway.
  23. Hello! Sorry it took so long to get to ya, was away from my computer yesterday and most of today. Well, if you want to get started, one of the first things you can do is give us a character profile write-up, either of your OC you want to play, or any of the show cast characters. We have a standard form that lets us get a good picture of who your pony is or how you plan to a play your favorite canon pony, and allows a reference to point other players to when you want to introduce yourself to them: We run a setting for G4:Friendship is Magic, which you can post your application to below: https://www.canterlot.com/forum/416-character-applications/ We also have a board for G5:A new Generation, for applications there: https://www.canterlot.com/forum/471-character-applications/ Once you have a character on there, we give your account full permissions to the boards, and you can start posting! If you want to set up a thread, there's a couple of things you can do. You can post to this board with ideas for plots and such, advertise in your availability in your status, or ask around in our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/bDPChXqj You'll probably get the quickest response from us there, though some of our regulars are still on vacation. Hope this helps! PM if you have any more questions.
  24. It took about a minute or two for the little filly to recognize the significance of what was happening right now, filled as her head was with dreams of the future, pride in her abilities, and the normal flittiness of foals her age. But soon enough orange-mama's loving care herded her attention to the little patch of earth that in a very real way would be her very own. No matter where her future took her, to a runway, a true Princess' throne, or maybe just to the marriage-house of a lucky S.O., her roots would be in Sweet Apple Acres. Therefore, to Applejack's question, there was only one answer. "Ambrosia! That's my name, that's my apple!" She beamed in excitement, eager to see her namesake give forth it's branches, leaves, blossoms, and fruit!
  25. It was some mark of the providence that watched over the little fillies of Equestria that at least one of Amby's momma's heard her plaintive cries, and came in to snuggle her. The little unicorn didn't want to do or say anything, just have a good cry safe in blue mama's arms. It was all just too much for her night now. "I dunno where Zappers is... *sniff* I dunno where owange mamma is... wahhhh...."
