I had avoided watching any of Season 8 because I just didn't care much for the show anymore, well that and I no longer have access to Discover Family.  However, I took time today to watch episodes from that season and I must admit, they were pretty good.

NOT saying that I have my full enthusiasm for MLP again, but at least I feel good viewing this latest season.

Shows are hard to find on YT, guess Hasbro changed their policy on them since last season.

Oh well, I'm still around, watching from afar.....

Been a fan of MLP FiM since Season 1.  When new episodes would premier, I was always excited to view them!

Now it is Season 8, and to be honest, the premier weekend came and went without much fanfare for me.

Long ago, Canterlot.com was the center of my life, so much so that I became an active Moderator here.

But the years have flown by, now I am a retired Moderator and have close to zero interest in the franchise.

I lost the Discovery Family channel from by TV package two years ago, and I really don't miss it.

I even tried to watch the Season 8 premier on YT, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

I'm not interested in viewing the recent movie either.  I have no plans to rent the DVD let alone buy it.

Outside of "The Perfect Pear", I honestly cannot remember much about any of the Season 7 episodes.

No, I'm not completely leaving Canterlot.com, but at the same time, I've lost most of the enthusiasm I once had for the franchise.

I have loved my time on this MB, and over the years, I have truly enjoyed the TV show.

But y'all have to admit, the activity on Canterlot.com is not what it used to be.

Perhaps overall, the fandom is beginning to show it's age.

Anyway, just had to share my feelings.  Maybe I can rekindle my interest in Season 8 somehow, but until then, got a lot more things IRL I need to tend to.

I'll still be around, though not as much as in the past.

From American General Douglas MacArthur, from his Farewell Address to Congress on April 15, 1951:

I don't know, folks. I seem to have lost my sense of excitement for the franchise. I still RP here and there's a degree of fun in that, but as for the show/movies, I'm just not 'feeling it' so much anymore. Normally, when 'new' MLP songs/comics.etc are released, I'm happy and jump right on them. But lately, not so much. I don't think it's just the usual 'null' time waiting for a new season to arrive. I do realize fads and trends come and go in today's world on a regular basis such as disco, pet rocks, VHS tapes, and so forth. Fashion trends also come and go, and no fandom, no matter how strong, can last forever. The question I pose is, am I alone in feeling this sense of, for lack of a better term, apathy for MLP FiM at this time? Don't get me wrong, I'm not planning on leaving Canterlot.com, this is a great community. However, I am concerned about losing my love for the franchise...

    Hello everypony!
I don't post very often on this blog, but I'd like to address a subject that very near and dear to my heart as a roleplayer on Canterlot.com: Background/Tier 3 Cast Characters!
I know that as a roleplayer, naturally folks want to apply for the more popular FiM Cast Characters such as the Mane 6, the Princesses, etc, but to me, there's no greater joy or challenge than to roleplay with a background cast character. Why? Because (1) their history and personality are, for the most part, a blank slate! This allows those who would apply for them much leeway in their design. In this way, a user can take an ordinary 'humdrum' background character and give it a whole new life!
For example, I applied for and receive the character known as Pigpen (a.k.a. the 'Too Smelly' pony in 'The Perfect Stallion' song from the Hearts and Hooves Day episode) and gave him a job (sanitation engineer) a personality (very nice and generous) and even a business to own (his own junkyard/antique shoppe). To me, he's as much fun to roleplay with as Granny Smith (another one of my cast characters).
Tier 3 Cast Characters can be a lot of fun! First of all, there's PLENTY of them that are available, as opposed to the higher level Tier 2 or Tier 1 characters that don't often become available to apply for. Second, since most folks might not apply for the SAME Tier 3 Character, chances are if you have a strong application, you're more likely to win them unopposed!
So why not give a Tier 3 Cast Character a try! I love all of mine: Sheriff Silverstar, Flim, Flam, Mr. Waddle, Uncle Apple Strudel, Pigpen, Dr. Stable and Ms. Harshwhinney! There are many, many others who are available and waiting to be 'brought to life' by someone, that someone could be YOU!

Please consider applying for background characters. They all have their own 'stories' that are begging to be told!

Folks, I never ever imagined that expressing my opinion on the last episode of Season 3 was going to turn into a 'Meme' (whatever the heck that is) and take on a life of its own.
    The bottom line is this:
    1) I meant every word I said about the series. It's my OPINION and I'm entitled to have one.
    2) I will NOT be entering some sort of Meme/flame war over this. You have a different opinion? Fine. I'm not going to try to convince anyone to agree with me. You have the same right that I do to express your opinion too!
    3) I'm not going to attempt to clarify my past remarks because to do so would simply stir things up worse.
So, if y'all want to keep this Meme going, do so without me. Never meant for this to happen, and to be perfectly blunt, THIS is the very reason why in the past, I've resisted to use things like blogs, Skype, Facebook and Twitter. Now I have solid proof that my 'fears' are justified.
I really doubt I'll be blogging here in the future. Think I'll stick to RP and my duties as a RH Helper (it's safer).

    No, I'm not leaving Canterlot.com.
What I'm referring to is the end of the MLP FiM Series.
Just watched Magical Mystery Cure again, and I can't help but come to the same conclusion I came to the moment I viewed it from the first time: THIS episode is the REAL finale of the SERIES, not just the SEASON.
MMC ties up all the 'loose ends' left from Twilight's journey to find her 'true self.' It is the climax of her tale of personal discovery. Honestly, where can the series go from here?
Don't get me wrong, I'll NEVER stop being a fan of the show. I'll continue to be loyal to the fandom as well as continue my 'stay' here at Canterlot.com. However, I just can't get excited about Season 4. To me, the show's already ended. I can barely get myself up for watching the reruns on TV anymore.
I'm sorry, but for me, MLP FiM is over. I feel happy for Twilight Sparkle for achieving the rank of Princess, but I think this story would be better served by having one 'last page' that reads, "and they all lived happily ever after." No sequels, no continuation, no 'reunion' movie, no Season 4. Just let it end here.
That's the way I will remember it.

This is an essay I’ve been meaning to write for a very long time, but due to some recent events, I feel it is time for me to write this for all on Canterlot.com to read.
Why have I applied for so many minor FiM Cast characters?
The answer is rather simple: I have a heart for the ‘underdog,’ the downtrodden, the forgotten. This is why I’ve apped for characters that, with the POSSIBLE exception of Flam, no one else really wanted.
As a big fan of the MLP FiM cartoon, I do understand that the main focus of the show is on Twilight Sparkle and the antics of the Mane 6 (with Spike, of course). But to me, there are SO many, many interesting background ponies that (for the most part) never get THEIR stories ever told. This is why from the very beginning of my time here on this RP website, I have applied for ponies that others would probably never desire to use.
For example, I applied for Granny Smith in the midst of Season 1, back when she had few words and very little screen time. No one else wanted her, but I felt I could demonstrate in RP that all older folks aren’t just tottering nuisances to ‘youthful’ society. I was awarded Granny when Granny wasn’t ‘cool’ but I was SO thrilled to see her receive an expanded role in Season 2. No doubt she would be very popular if her app became open now. Older folks have something to contribute to society, which is why I also chose to app for Uncle Apple Strudel and Mr. Waddle as well.
I have to admit, I apped Sheriff Silverstar for purely selfish reasons. I was a HUGE fan of the old time TV Westerns (Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Big Valley, Have Gun Will Travel, the Wild Wild West, etc) as well as ALL John Wayne cowboy films. True, the mustached lawpony doesn’t carry a six-gun or rifle, but he does represent a long line of Old West tradition, which is why I enjoy RP-ing in Appleoosa so much. It’s also why I have OC’s based there like Louise LaMare and Doc Holly Day.
I do love a good villain, and Flam (with his brother Flim) are very unique adversaries in the Equestria universe. As a fan of the old Phil Silvers Show (Sgt. Bilko) I do love the mannerisms of this pair of shifty unicorn brothers. This is why I talked my good friend Boss Hoss into apping for Flim while I apped for Flam. They are a lot of fun to RP with, that’s for sure!
To me, of all the minor background characters, Pigpen may be the funniest of all! Like his namesake from the old Peanuts comic strip, Pigpen has the look and feel of the ‘lovable loser.’ He’s a pony who smells bad, looks dirty and unkempt. To me, Pigpen is THE perfect pony for sanitation duty in Ponyville. What’s the old saying? “It’s a dirty job, but SOMEONE’S gotta do it,” right? The RP ‘Trash and Treasures’ was created by me to showcase the fact that one shouldn’t judge ANY book (or pony) by it’s ‘cover.’ Just because a pony may not practice very good personal hygiene does NOT mean that pony is a terrible waste of space. I think the CMC was too harsh and too rash in their judgment of Pigpen, and this is the main reason why I apped him.
Dr. Stable is, forgive the pun, an interesting ‘case.’ I’m also a huge fan of the old time TV medical dramas such as Medical Center, Quincy, St. Elsewhere, etc. Ponyville residents need good medical attention, so like my OC Doc Holly Day, I jumped at the chance to app for the town doctor. True, there is at least one pediatrician and one veterinarian in town (from ‘Secret to My Excess’), Doctor Stable is the only known Cast doctor (though there are quite a few Cast nurses). To me, he is more than worthy of RP lure in our world of Equestria.
In EVERY case when I apped the seven FiM Cast characters I now have, NO ONE ELSE APPED THEM! In each case, I was awarded these characters by the Canterlot.com RP staff. I wanted THEIR stories to be told, their lives as MLP characters to be further developed for all to see how great these characters truly are. This is why I’ve apped them, and I make NO apologies for that!
I would encourage other members of this website to consider apping Tier 3 characters. Their stories need to be told too, and the exciting part is, they are ‘blank slates’ that can be filled in by the applicant! A chance to put your creative talents to work!
