I use 'Fake it til you make it' for things like confidence. I have a horrible time getting the confidence I need to talk to people well or go to new places, etc. But I can fake it, and if I can fake confidence long enough? It's not so fake anymore.

I fail to see how that negates that there's more than one side to everyone. I also fail to see how she DIDN'T learn her lesson about stealing cutie marks and lying and manipulating ponies to get them to be "Equal'. But I feel that this will just continue to break down into a 'But this.' 'Ah but this' and go nowhere, so we'll just agree to disagree.

Once again I'll have to disagree. I feel like, no. She wouldn't try to lie and manipulate, that's what got her here in the first place. That's what got her to lead a group of ponies and take away their cutie marks, that's what got her to be the nemesis of Twilight. She learned that lesson. It felt very natural that she'd be like 'Oh god I don't wanna do this'. Starlight Glimmer IS all those things you mentioned, but at the same time, she's still just a pony. They have sides. Lying Manipulator Glimmer =/= Glimmer trying to adjust to something foreign. Everything she had done SHE had done, she controlled, now that she's not the one in control, it's scary and strange. I wouldn't remotely call how she was 'Timid and Shy'. Apprehensive and Nervous, yes. But I think it's silly to just flat out say 'Oh that's not her.' when we've only seen ONE side of her until now. She's not stuck in the box of what three episodes gave us, she's more than just that and I feel like we'll see 'Timid and Shy', 'Cunning and Smart' 'Tired and Confused' and other sides to Glimmer. Can't judge a book by just the first few pages, gotta finish reading.

I, on the other hand, adored her. I honestly wouldn't say that she was 'flat'. Yes they played for sympathy, because this was an episode FOR sympathy. While yes I do think her reasoning for going evil was kinda eh, she was still hurt, so of course she's going to not be the exact same as she was before. And really, this is the first episode of 'real' Starlight we've seen. All we really saw before was 'I want revenge on cutie marks' Starlight. So nah, she wasn't generic. She's got room to grow and I'm excited to see where the season takes her.

Also, do let me note. Yes, while you are most certainly allowed your opinion and I wouldn't ever take that away from someone, but no, I do not have to respect your opinion. Especially when it seems to be fueled by a childish 'Lalala I can't hear you she's not redeemed lalala' attitude. Respect is given when respect is earned. So no, I do not like nor respect your opinion, but I respect your right to HAVE an opinion.

A mild poke at you, yes. But more meant as a general statement. -shrug-
