  1. Through the late night air, Àilóng wistfully circled around high over the cloudtop city of Longri-La. Tonight was the last night of the First Moon, Long Guo's joyous celebration of the new lunar year. Even in the tranquil city of the Long, the celebrations were in full swing. But for the past two weeks, the dragon had spent most of it helping set up rather than partaking in the festivities. Granted, it was a pleasure getting to help the council and the citizens out, but by the time everything was ready, he was far too tired to enjoy any of it! The time he did have 'free', was spent in Dragon's Heart taking care of duties of the Serpent King, which meant even less of a chance to enjoy it. Tonight though? Tonight would be different.

It had been some time since Yuè's visit. Time to think, time to pine, time to plan. But the time to do any of that had passed, the time to act was now. With a little snort of smoke and a grin, Àilóng zipped his way off towards Huangjing as swiftly as he could...

Which for a dragon was rather swift. Music and merriment filled the air of the Imperial capital, Àilóng was certain tonight would be a perfect chance. Despite the temptation to join in on the dancing and laughter, the King had a goal in mind. The palace, as tightly guarded as it always was, was rather easy for Àilóng to slip into. It was like the guards knew that he was The Serpent King and wouldn't dare try to stop him or something! The Long giggled to himself as he flew up and over towards where he knew Yuè's room to be, landing gently on the balcony. "Surely you don't intend to retire for the evening just yet?" he said breaking the silence of the mare's stride towards her bed.

  2. "That's right. Wasn't always like that but I won't bore you with my past. There's about fifty of us in the pack, we live under the deserts near Appleloosa." he said with a proud grin as he pulled the bits from his jacket and laid them on the table. "Oh a bit of this and that. We dig up gems and minerals and relics and sell them across Equestria. Sometime I'm around Ponyville you're free to come and take a look at my wares!" Gideon nodded over his shoulder at his cart. "I won't hold you up any longer for now, it looks like you've still got a lot of apples to sell."

With a little smile, Gideon leaned in and placed a gentle paw under her chin as they met for a smooch! Tender and sweet but only a moment. Pulling back he grinned and winks. "Mm, minty fresh, ten out of ten! Ahaha. Thanks Applejack, you have a great day!" The diamond dog waved farewell and went about loading up his baskets into his cart, nomming on one of the apples along the way.

  3. The bipedal canine gave a chuckle. Good to see that having to swap spit with so many ponies today hadn't hampered this mare's spirits any. "Nice to meet you, Applejack. The name's Gideon, Giddy for short if you like! Pack leader and traveling merchant!" he said proudly, but now obviously wasn't the time to go into a sales pitch, his grumbling hungry stomach attested to that.

Gideon rubbed his chin and glanced over the selection of fruit. Truth be told he'd not be able to tell one apple from another. "Well, I can't say I'm too much of an apple connoisseur so I suppose a trio of mixed bushels would do the trick if that's fine with you." with a small hum he began to dig through the pockets of his jacket to pull out the required bits. "Plan on taking them home with me to my pack." his stomach growled loudly once again, causing him to blush a little. "...Well most of em anyway."

  4. Well! It seemed that in getting caught up in the idle chit chat with the ponies in line around him did indeed speed up the process. Kinda. On the one paw it felt like it took ages! Months! But on the other paw it really was only a few minutes. Time was always a weird concept, but this wasn't the place to be contemplating time! Nope, Gideon was a hungry dog and he was sure that no one would appreciate him holding up the line, least of all his stomach! "Sounds like I'm up, 'scuse me!" he said to his conversational partners before making his way up to the booth with a whistle.

Coming up on Applejack's booth, Gideon politely grinned and waved in greeting. "Hey there, hi there miss! Looks like business is really boomin with this kissing booth innit?" he wondered just what this pony's reaction would be. After hoards of ponies in line to get a smooch and some apples, the sudden diamond dog thrown in the mix likely would be a bit of a shock! Hopefully a humorous one at the very least.

  5. 2 minutes ago, Bellosh said:

Correction: the previous emperors mostly didn't mingle much with their subjects the way that Princess Celesita would. In terms of world affairs, Long Guo has not displayed isolationist tendencies within living memory.

Ah, there you have it! My bad c:

  6. Kay! So none of these answers are 100% endorsed by anyone, just my thoughts on things (Also I wrote out these answers before Steel there made his post, so his may have different answers than me =P)
15: I don't think we currently have any other currencies at the moment. But I personally think sticking with Bits is the best idea, cus then you have to actually start thinking about things like exchange rates. That's not to say players can't say specific areas or tribes or what have you have their own currency, but I think sticking with Bits as the mainstay is a good idea.
16: Pretty sure it's just coin, paper money is so passe, unless it smells like maple syrup.
17: I'd wager it depends on the stones. Some areas may have an abundance of some times, while others have a deficit.
18: The last Emperor stuck to the tradition of not really mingling much with external affairs, the current Empress is looking to strengthen bonds between Long Guo and outlaying areas. But likely Bellosh could elucidate more on this topic.
    19: I can't see why not.
20: Likely depends on the area.
21: Movie theaters do exist, I mean heck, we've seen cameras, as well as that recording bit that Twilight did to expose Svengallop, I'm certain they exist. As for how long, I'm not certain.
22: Nah bruv, it'd totally be San Fransiscolt.
23: Air travel, just like others, still runs the risk of robbery. Though by sky pirates in this case. Given that the ships, I assume, are more costly to run and maintain, I figure it'd be a bit  more expensive than average, so likely behind behind both of them simply due to cost.
24: We try to stick at an ambiguous tech level, similar to the show. We don't want things like real cars or aeroplanes around. But stuff like the Flim Flam Brother's magitech car, or simple phones like seen in Manehattan are fine.
25: I think it's probably safe to assume that police forces have been around for a while, with the REA being the 'primary' law enforcement, so to speak. Where the police forces within their cities would have to answer to REA officials should the need for intervention arise.
26: As far as I'm aware, nope and nope. Certainly an interesting thought though.
27: Old enough to know better too young to care (I don't actually know)
28: It's an Empire of course!
29: Feel free to make one! Just keep in mind, some players may not hold it as canon in their own threads, as such things may mess with their plans

    • Springblossom Town - Home to Nature’s Bounty: Proving that big things really do come in small packages, the tiny little town of Springblossom brings to the table one of Long Guo’s most beautiful wonders that only comes from there, Shimmersilk!

    • Fenghuang Valley - A Sanctuary of Enlightenment: A wonder of balance in nature, it’s little surprise that the ascetic monks of the Harmonious Path have chosen this area as their home to find balance, inner peace, and expand their being—mind, body, and soul.

    • Lake Huahuo - Sacred Lake of the Elder Serpents: Nestled high, high in the mountain range known as the Ancient’s Abode this lake, named after the founders of the Long Guo Empire, is a breathtaking site to those who can make the treacherous climb through the mountains and brave the storms that the Serpent Dragons that keep watch over the lake create to keep the unworthy away.

    • Mount Faba - Tomb of the Tyrant King: The final resting place of the tyrannical King Faba, self-proclaimed ‘God of Order’, Mount Faba is filled with dangerous traps, mysterious messages, and hundreds of monstrous terracotta statues! What mysteries could lie in the depths of this wicked dragon’s tomb?

Situated between Long Guo and Equestria, Neighpon is a string of islands that range from habitats for mystical creatures, quiet traditionalist villages, magictech cities, and of course, ninjas and samurai!

    Neighpon Locations:

    • Kyoma - A Symbol of Heritage: A place of tradition, the capital city of Neighpon stands upon the plains (one of the few in the country!) of the island of Horshu. Having survived invasions of kaiju, warring clans, earthquakes, and the eruption of Mount Kaminichi, Neighpon as stood the test of time! And after the devastation wrought by Viking Caribou ravaged the land, the First Shogun of Neighpon united the land, allowing the city to rise time and again like a majestic phoenix.

    • Polohama - A Spectacle of Progress: Lights, glamour, and magitech abound in the city of Polohama! Standing as both Neighpon’s most populated and most advanced city, Polohama is a haven of new! Ensorcelled billboards, magley trains, Goremu, and of course Neighponese Idols! There’s rarely a dull moment in the bustling city, so if you like things busy and bright, Polohama is for you!

    • Mount Kaminichi - The Mountain of Purity: A mystical volcano that dominates much of the island of Horshu. Many Neighponese venerate the mountain which has inspired art in its many forms! But a great many mysteries surround the mountain and its nearby woods, the Forest of the Forsaken. Disappearances, mystical imbuements, strange visions. What will you see in the smoke of the mountain? And will you make it back to tell the tale?

    • Ryushima - Where The Dragon’s Blood Runs Strong: Founded centuries ago by qilin and longma, regionally known as kirin and ryuma respectively, who did not wish to live under the rule of the new Long Guo Empire, Ryushima today is a quaint and quiet collection of villages and ports, mostly unassuming and plain. But if one looks hard enough, you may be able to catch sight of one of the few ninja clans that still operate on the island as mercenaries for hire!

    • Dosanko - Bastion of the Homeland: Settled northwest of Neighpon’s home islands, Dosanko a cold and harsh island with even colder winters. For the most part, fishing is the main livelihood of the island, but it is also home to a significant military presence, due to its close proximity to Whitescar. From here the Neighponese Military can swiftly leap to action against any Viking Caribou threats.

    • Poninawa - Mystical Friendships Beckon: Not as traditionalist as Ryushima, but not as technological as Polohama, Poninawa strikes a balance between the nature of their forested island and the bare necessities of some magitech. The reason for this may not be apparent to the average traveler, but one meeting with the mystical Yokai will show you why it’s best to not have anything too magically reliant on the island!

    ____________________________________________________________________________

Laying to Long Guo’s southwest, this region is a collection of hundreds of islands! Some inhabited and some very, very wild!

    • Wingapore - The Sovereign Island: Wingapore is a beautiful city state with black sand beaches and tropical rain forests! A hustling and bustling attraction for both tourists and trade alike with imports and exports from Long Guo, Hesperia, Neighpon, and beyond!

    • The Fillyphines - Islands of Plenty: The most populated chain of islands in Polyneighsia, the Fillyphines are filled with rich ancient history, trade, delicious foods, and rumours of mysterious creatures! Great for those who want a getaway or an adventure!

    • Stottinsberg Islands - Slave Islands: The islands of Hidzume and Shiza are volcanic islands, home to the native Polyneighsian deer population. As well as the rebel caribou slavers that keep them under iron-hoofed rule. Though the Caribou’s Highking has banned slavery, the caribou here scoff at his wishes and refuse to change. Rumours circulate about escaped slaves who are looking for aid to free their friends and their islands. Perhaps some willing adventurers can help!

    • Neighoa-Iti - Isle of Enchantment: A small and mostly empty island with a tiny population, Neighoa-Iti has several strange qualities about it. Such as beautiful forests that glow at night, fruit that affects the minds of those who dine upon it, and pools of water that is rumoured to slow the aging process of any who drink it. (Neighoa-Iti will be released in a content patch in the following days)

    • The Mareaes - Isle of Idols: Despite being the locations of both the start and end of the Long Guo-Neighpon war, over all the Mareaes islands are rather non-descript. The part that draws tourists the most are the massive Mareaes Idols. Large carved stone statues depicting pones, qilins, longma, and more. So old are these statues that none living today know where they came from or how they were made! (The Mareaes will be released in a content patch in the following days)

    • Tailiti - The Island of Beauty: Easily one of the most beautiful islands in Polyneighsia, Tailiti is the premier tourist destination for wealthy and influential ponies from all around the world! With gorgeous beaches, a serene atmosphere, and a wonderful view from the nearby dormant volcano, it’s little wonder that visiting Tailiti is on the bucket list for many. (Tailiti will be released in a content patch in the following days)

    • Scoltra Islands - Lands of Resource: Filled with many natural resources, the Scoltra Islands were a prime target during Neighpon’s colonization efforts. Despite the resistance, the ancient Scoltra Alliance was brought to heel. Even today as a rebellious as they can be Scoltra proves to be pivotal to Neighpon, with its many factories, mines, and fields. (Scoltra Islands will be released in a content patch in the following days)

    • Ironwreck Island - Tonnes of ‘Fun’: Easily Polyneighsia’s most dangerous island. Ironwreck isn’t just home to numerous sunken vessels that dot the oceanbed around it, but also plays host to numerous giant beasts known in Neighpon as Kaiju! These vicious beasts keep all but the most foolhardy adventurers away and have been known to seek vengeance on islanders who disturb them. But rumours still persist of friendly beasts the lay on the island too. Will you be able to confirm these rumours? Or will you be the next course on the menu?

    ____________________________________________________________________________

Founded long ago by Aquellia’s long range colonization efforts, Hesperia is a harsh and dangerous land filled with outlaws, poisonous creatures, gigantic rocs, and many nasty beasts. Even the waters aren’t safe, being filled with large jellyfish, ponyeating sharks, and monstrous krakens. Hersperia is not a land for the faint of heart, but for those who like their travels filled with thrills and their laws...lacking.

    • Airbourne - (Information on Airbourne will be released in a content patch at a later date)

    • Waterhole - (Information on Waterhole will be released in a content patch at a later date)

    ____________________________________________________________________________

Situated on the eastern coast of Equestria sits a little unassuming seaside village! With quaint shacks and a nice little market by the shore with plenty of friendly faces. Beneath the waves though, lay an awe inspiring wonder of a city, Melodia the home of the sirens!

    ____________________________________________________________________________

Four New Races!: To go along with all of our new locations, we are also adding four new Officially Sanctioned Races to our World of Equestria Lineup!

    • Qilin - Mystical as the Moon: One of the two races collectively known as the Long Sun. Qilin, also known as Kirin in Neighpon, are a race of draconic ponies who are gifted with dragon breath like magics! With patches of scales across their bodies, as well as underbelly scales, it’s no wonder that the anterled Qilin are sometimes called ‘dragon ponies’.

    • Longma - Spirited as the Sun: The other member of the races known collectively as the Long Sun. Longma, or Ryuma in Neighpon, are winged ponies with dragon like traits, such as scales across their bodies and where a pegasus’ down would be, varying curved horns, and access to breath magic!

    • Serpent Dragons - The Ancient and Wise: Known to many as the Long, Ryu in Neighpon, Serpent Dragons are a race of beautiful, majestic, and powerful dragons capable of great breath magic, breathing underwater, flight without wings, and their ancient art of pearlcraft. This race of dragons, for which the country of Long Guo is named after, is truly a sight to behold.

    • Sirens - Musicians of the Deep: One of the aquatic races of the deep, Sirens are renowned for their magical, beautiful, and sometimes alluring singing voices. But don’t let old mares tales fool you! Sirens aren’t all wicked songstresses leading sailors to their doom. Just like the land bound cousins they visit, they can be as varied as anypony else!

  9. Hello everypony! Friendly neighborhood Dubstep here once again to elucidate the matter of our wonderful new section here, the Multiverse! Now some of you may be familiar with the concept of Alternate Universes and that’s great! But for those of you who don’t know, or need a refresher, let me explain a little bit!

Alternate Universes, also know as AUs or sometimes Alternate Timelines, are exactly what they sound like on the tin! They are a version of any given universe where something is different! A good example of AUs would be the various different Earths in Marvel or DC comics! Be it something as simple as everyone is green, or something as major as everyone’s a giant! Every difference is an example of an AU.

In this forum, you too can create your own AUs for players to enjoy! Have you ever wanted to make a universe where Celestia was banished instead? How about one where the Elements of Harmony took the form of giant robots instead of magical necklaces? Now you can!

The first thing you should always do, as with anything creatively on the site, is to make sure you follow our general rules and guidelines! Just because some things are different here, doesn’t mean that the other rules aren’t in effect! If you have a question or concern, as always we are here to help!

If you’re interested in making an AU, there are some questions you should ask yourself first!

    • Is this really an AU or is it a Crossover? Sometimes the lines aren’t so clear between these two. The general rule of thumb is, Concepts taken from a series without involving things such as Names, Places, or Characters is an AU. If your AU involves these things, it is a Crossover instead and should be placed into the Crossover section of FFA instead. For all intents and purposes, Past and Future timelines are considered AUs.

    • What’s the big difference that makes it interesting? Sure, you could make a universe where everyone is purple, speaks Spanish, and dances the hula. But is it interesting? Would someone really want to play there? Make your universe interesting, fresh! Introduce new concepts, new characters that don’t exist in the main timelines! Spice things up a bit! You don’t have to make things super complicated if you don’t want, you don’t have to make things too simple if you don’t want, the choices are endless!

    • What are the rules for the AU? As author of your AU, you are more than welcome to set up guidelines and rules for your Universe! Want OC Alicorns or Draconequui (Yep, you can have those in your AU!)? Make a note of it in your opening post! Want there to be a limit on how many of a certain race are around? Make a note of it! As Captain Planet says, the power is yours! With this in mind though, be respectful! It may be your universe, but it’s everyone’s forum. If someone wants to bring in a character that doesn’t fit, politely explain to them why. They’re more than welcome to create their own universe that’s similar if they really want to.

Once you’re ready to dip your hooves (or claws, or paws, or other appendages) into the pool of Universecraft, you can make a thread here with the name of your Universe! This will be the OOC area for your AU. The Opening Post should be clear on what makes this universe different from the Main Timeline, as well as any rules that you want. As a personal recommendation, I would have a handful of sections in your opening post, such as but not limited to:

    • Name of the Universe.

    • A summary of the Universe

    • A list of notable characters that are new or are different from their mainline counterparts.

    • A section for updates as roleplay within the universe continues.

    • A list of suggested ‘roles’ that someone might play to best fit in.

    • In the title, note if the AU is Open for anyone to play or Closed. If an AU is open, keep in mind that people may deviate from your original design. This is perfectly fine, universes are never static. But if something truly bothers you, be civil and discuss your concerns with the user.

With these things in mind, I’m sure you’ll have no trouble building great universes filled with even greater stories and amazing characters!

As an example opening post. This won’t be the most detailed example, but should be enough to give you a general idea! And feel free to put your opening post in your own style!

    Equestria Girls [Open]

The Equestria Girls universe is set in a world where your usual pony characters are human, though with skin tint that matches their pony counterpart’s pelts. The greatest differences is the lack of most magic. The general setting focuses on the slice of life antics of high school!

    Notable Characters

Principal Celestia: Instead of being a Princess, the Celestia here is Principal of Canterlot High!
Vice Principal Luna: By Principal Celestia’s side is her sister, Vice Principal Luna!

    Important Updates

Date/Goes/Here - A new student has arrived! Her name is Twilight Sparkle!

Date/Goes/Here - Twilight Sparkle wins the crown!

    Rules - Please Read

No Ponies! If you’re playing here you’ve got to be human! Even if somehow your pony self from Equestria found a weird mirror or something! That goes for griffons, diamond dogs, or others too!

Low Magic! Try to keep magical items to a bare minimum, it’s best to have those the focus of a large group event!

  11. Hello everypony! Friendly neighborhood Dubstep here! As you know, the doors of Lore have been thrown open! Carefully as to not fling them off the hinges though. So players like YOU, yes YOU! Can write your own Lore!

Now you may be asking, Dub, what’s the difference between the Lore written here, and the Lore you can find elsewhere on the site? Official Sanctioned Lore affects the site as a whole, things that appear on the map, such as Equestria, Aquellia, and Long Guo for example. These are things that are consistent through all RPs (Unless an AU shows otherwise). The Lore created here is on a by choice basis, if you like something another user has written, feel free to incorporate it into your own RP! You’re not bound nor forced to use any of the Lore found herein.

To help you along the path to Lore Enlightenment, I’m here to give you a few tips, tricks, and guidelines on how to best make your own addition to the ever growing World of Equestria!

    • First and foremost, your lore should NOT contradict established Official Sanctioned Lore or Show Canonical Lore, unless it is explicitly stated that it is for use in an Alternate Universe (AU) setting or for Free For All (FFA).

    • With that in mind, be sure to not try to skirt around the edge of what’s ‘acceptable’. If you’re concerned if your Lore might contradict something, then feel free to bring your questions to us!

    • Your Lore should be presented in a style that is both pleasing to look at and gets the point across. Make something that catches someone’s eye! Something that someone will say ‘Hey, I like this, I want to use this in my OWN RPs!’ And while there’s no hard fast rule for how you make your Lore entry look, there are ways to spruce them up!

      • Having the title of your Lore in large font and centered at the top of the document.

      • Proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, and paragraphing.

      • Quote attribution as seen in Official Sanctioned Lore is also an option.

If you’re considering making some Lore, or have already made some Lore in your own threads and want to have it down in more detailed writing, you’ve come to the right place! Or should I say, the WRITE place! Ahem.

If you’re not sure, however, where to get started, or if your Lore is good enough, ask yourself some helpful questions.

    • Is this something that could fit in WoE? An AU? FFA?

    • Is this something that others would be interested in?

      • Do not let this question be your roadblock, just because you may not think someone else would find it interesting, you would be surprised to find how many may like it!

    • Does this enrich the environment for which I have written it and does it make for interesting RP?

    • If a Magical Artefact

      • Is it overpowered? If overpowered, does it have a fair trade off for its use?

      • Is it one of a kind, or are there possibly more out there?

      • Who made it and why? Could somepony else make it if they tried?

      • What sort of things can it do? Are there uses for it beyond the obvious?

      • Where is it found? In a museum? Lost in a jungle? The attic of an eccentric collector?

    • If a Location

      • Is this town/city/village/etc. already done? Is there one similar to it elsewhere?

      • If there’s a location similar to it, what does this location bring to the table that makes it unique from the other?

      • Does it make sense for it to be where it is?

      • Who founded the location, and for what purpose?

      • What are some of the amenities found here?

      • What is the general look and layout of the location?

      • What can make somepony interested in visiting this location?

    • If a Tribe

      • Where does this tribe live?

      • Where did the tribe come from, did they splinter from another tribe? Have they been around since ‘ancient’ times?

      • What are some of the tribe’s beliefs and rituals? Are they primitive in nature? Are they more advance?

    • If a Group or Organization

      • Where do they operate? Do they have more than one base?

      • Why was the group founded?

      • Are they secretive or open?

      • Do they take any members freely, or is there a test involved?

      • What does the group do?

      • What is the hierarchy of the group? Is it ruled by a leader? Is it democratic in nature?

There are many more questions that you can ask yourself as you go through this writing process! But remember, you’re not alone, you have a wealth of help from your fellow users on the site, as well as the staff. Should you need assistance, just yelp for help!

  12. When asked about his goods, the diamond dog couldn't help but to grin and stand up a little straighter as he adjusted his coat "Hehe, well most of the things I trade in are antiques. Things that my pack and I find buried out in the desert. You know, ancient vases, mysterious scrolls, what have you." Gideon nodded his head back towards his cart again. "Gems and jewellery too, but I'm off for the day. Besides, wouldn't wanna take any business attention away from the apple sale here." he said with a wink.

  13. Very well then, I suppose I'll just recommend that players don't try apping Harpies.

I'm still a bit wary of Raptorians though. I know FiM and WoE have plundered ideas from G1 before, but even with stuff like Tirek and the Smooze, they underwent radical revision before showing up in G4. Raptorians will undoubtedly require the same extensive treatment, which I don't think falls under the purview of the Extended-Canon Species Initiative.

The point behind extended-canon species is that they are not meant to require unofficial guidelines laid down here in order for a player to have a clear idea of what's acceptable or not. In case you haven't noticed, the concepts that have earned the most enthusiastic support so far are those that didn't require much debate in the first place. It's species concepts like those which stand the highest chance of being approved by RPH. The more doubt that exists over what a species' RP appearance and attributes should be, the less likely we'll feel comfortable enough to sign off on it.

For now, I'm going to recommend that users don't try apping Raptorians as well.

Hmm, well I certainly wasn't meaning there were any unofficial guidelines. It was more saying 'Hey if they look weird this way, go this way.' If it were just, y'know, Raptorians, they could easily have fit in. Dog heads, bird-like bodies. Easy peasy. I was just saying 'Yeah they look a little weird, so maybe it could be different if staff wanted'.

  14. I'm going to need more than your word on this one; I'm not finding anything authoritative with a Google search.

Eh, G1 Raptorians look rather silly to me anyway. Only thing I'd take from their design are those claw-like hands at the end of their wings. Perhaps if we attached those wing-claws to an equine-sized vulture, we'll have ourselves a suitable harpy, perhaps.

I'll see if I can find something on where I read that *nodnod*

And yeah, G1 Raptorians look a little silly, but that's thinking in G1 terms. If they translated over to G4 they certainly wouldn't look....quite as lumpy? I think just adding claws to a vulture would just be basically 'Well now we have talking vultures'. But with the canine head and avian-like body, it'd be more unique and closer to what they originally were.

  15. Dronies: I've got absolutely no idea what they are. Google isn't being much of a help on this one. :S

Harpies: Still on the fence about them. Going by the same design philosophy we provisionally assigned for the sphinx, a harpy would have a bird head of sorts, possibly a vulture one (seems pretty much in-character to me). However, classical harpies were pretty much nothing more than a bird than a human head, and whenever possible I want to avoid turning mythological species into straight-up talking animals.

Dronies are, well, Dragon Pony Hybrids. Since mythologically speaking, dragons tend to be able to interbred with a lot of different creatures. It'd be like a Hippogriff, but dragonish.

As for Harpies, perhaps instead of just Harpies, the original Raptorians might work better. Going with the canine head and the harpy like body. It would not only keep out the worry of being straight-up talking animals, it'd keep them closer to their G1 counterparts.

  16. How I see things, while we discourage players from inventing Lore in character applications, it's a different thing to add to the World through roleplay and OOC collaboration. The show and our WoE Lore serve as a solid framework to base our RP environment, but ultimately, it's futile for RPH to try filling in every blank space on the map. As long as players respect our basic worldbuilding framework (and app rules), everyone has the freedom to invent little bits here and there to further spice up their RPs. You know how many OOC topics are recruitment threads for a particular organization? Who's to say that within reason, a cultural group in WoE can't be created the same way? Sure, it won't be official official, but if your idea cultivates enough clout within the playerbase, that inconvenient fact might not even matter.

I don't mind people endlessly suggesting extended-canon species. Better you get disappointed here than after you put all that hard work into an OC application.

Harpies: I'm on the fence with them. Unlike the riddling sphinxes, harpies are generally known in Greek mythology as instruments of punishment; a role that doesn't necessarily imply sentience. Then again, like the harpies, Pegasus was just an non-sentient animal sired by a deity, yet MLP turned Pegasus into a species of talking ponies. Hmmmm........ I'll need more thought first.

Very very true! It's better to ask before diving head first. A little disappointment is better than pouring so much work into something to get a no. *nodnod*

If it helps thoughts on the Harpies, I recommend checking in some on the Raptorians. Though, kinda like Diamond Dogs, we only have 3 sorta bumbling examples I supposes hehe. I doubt they would look like Raptorians, since harpy body + dog head looks a lil silly...at least in G1 Style!

Thanks for the patience hehe, I'm sure I'll pop in more when I think of other plausible ideas too :3c

  17. With this extended-canon species initiative, we're going with a "just the basics" approach where we only consider a species' appearance and basic abilities. History and culture are not things a player can introduce as Lore. With twinkle-eyed ponies, the only thing they got going for them is that their eyes are actual gems. That doesn't add much to WoE's worldbuilding, other than giving players a cheap way of turning their otherwise-normal ponies into special snowflakes. We'll reconsider twinkle-eyed ponies if they ever appear on the show, but for now, we're going to have to say no to them. Sorry. :(

Fair enough, though I DO think some lore building should be a thing. Because truly, what makes the various races interesting to play are their differences and cultures. And while I'm certain staff will get around to that at some point, I do feel like having some input from the player base is always a good option, as it gives staff a possible starting point as it would show what people may be interested in! =3 But no need to apologize! It's all totally fine. No skin off my nose, I just like checking things and seeing how they'd sink or swim!

Which brings me on to the next two.

First up is one I feel would be acceptable since Centaurs (such as Tirek) are acceptable. Gargoyles, ala Scorpan! Course, there's not much to say on them, they're pretty self explanatory.

Next up would be one I see as a little iffy? Harpies. Now of course I certainly wouldn't suggest the human body, bird wings etc. But I could see them as an expy for the Raptorians from G1. Altbeit not...quite as weird looking? (and I do mean really weird.)

I do hope me popping in more suggestions after another isn't becoming a bother. Like I said, I just like to see what'll sink or swim c:
