1. -Lyra Heartstrings, Streets of Crystal Empire A calm and simple smile appeared on her face as watched her new acquaintance seemed to meet her match in the form of a candy wrapper. "I try not to loose sight of the little things in my daily life," the mare did her best to comfort Val. Although it didn't feel like the best words to pick to say to someone who seemed to have no problems with swords. A sword would never fit right in her hooves, not like her lyre does. "Do you like it here, Sister?" The question came out of nowhere, and almost caught Lyra off guard. "So far, it's nice. It has the same size issue that caused me to go to Ponyville in the first place." As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized exactly what she had said. Both in one night. Both places she had called home, now so far out of her reach, had been named. She turned her head away and up to the sky again, in an attempt to hide it. The pained look on her face from memories that came flooding back. Canterlot wasn't as bad, because she left on her own terms, but Ponyville... -Ponyville, Six years ago A small crowd was standing in front of the minty green mare, listening as she played a simple but lively tune. This show wasn't about her, but instead was merely background music, as they partook of some of the candy sold in the building she was playing in front of. It was something she truly loved, helping BonBon bring in business for her shop as some ponies would occasionally drop coin in the case. The sky was starting to turn a beautiful orange as the sun set for the day. Lyra sent her instrument into it's case as she popped her head into the door. "Bon, I'm calling it a day. Do you want to come with?" she asked the tan earth pony inside the building. "Not yet, I have some things to finish up. Go on ahead, I'll catch up as soon as I'm done." The unicorn nodded as she gathered her things up and started to make her way home. Normally she would head straight home, but the beautiful sky and weather made her desire to wander a little. She looked at the various shops as they started to close for the night, and all the ponies going about their business as usual, none of them had any reason to do any different. Lyra had made it to the train station, a location perfect for meeting new ponies and seeing others off on their journeys. Lately it had become quite a busy epicenter of activity, with everyone trying to find a safe haven. Just as she made her way onto the platform, loud noises could be heard coming from the town. It was as she had feared, the war had finally made its way to their little town. Everything was going to change. -present day, Crystal Empire Just as fast as the memories had flooded in, they ran away. Lyra did her best to recompose herself. "I discovered I really love small towns. Places you can learn everyone's names, and never have any strangers around." Her voice sounded forced, like it was pushing something back. Her mouth was forming a smile, but her eyes, they showed a sorrow and a longing that was harder to hide. The mare never really had any skill in hiding her emotions, no she was better at putting them on full display with music and words that would have everyone know exactly how she felt. Even though Val had said that she had ruined the mood, Lyra felt much more guilty of it.
2. -Lyra Heartstrings, after hours club The musician nodded slightly at the question, "Well, I haven't been here long enough to find any real fun spots." How long had it been since she came to the Empire? Normally she didn't try to think too much about her situation for coming to the town, so she didn't strongly remember when she arrived. At the very least it had been a few years. As Val left the building, Lyra quickly followed behind her. The sharp night air actually felt nice to her, she looked up at the stars, seeing their light reflect off the crystalline buildings. It was a truly beautiful sight, and somehow it was even more stunning tonight. As she walked through the city with Val, she wondered aloud, "So, you lived here all your life? Have you ever thought about moving around?" Once she finished asking the question, she remembered what was going on with the world. Sometimes Lyra's mouth would move faster than her brain, it made for good brainstorming for music, but it can get in the way of socializing. Her face grew pink as she tried to backtrack the question, "Umm, I don't mean like right now or anything. Just in the future, or in the past or whenever." Her memory of her past moves weren't all that great, but both seemed to give her a fresh start. Maybe now wouldn't be a bad time to get her fresh start in the Crystal Empire. "Just wondering, because this is actually the third place I've lived it." Feeling a bit awkward, the minty mare had her horn start glowing. A pocket on her case opened and out floated a little ball, wrapped in blue and yellow covering. The sphere turned as the ends of the wrapper were pulled by the hazel magic, until it popped out and flew right into her minty mouth. Candy was something that always perked her up and calmed her down, but it wasn't the best she ever had. Her time in... Well, in her past had spoiled her. Still, the candy was sweet enough to make sigh with pleasure. The wrapper floated back into the case as another candy floated out towards Val, "Want one?"
3. Darnit Morrowind! Why do you have to name them like that? Now I want the Revenant of Sloth, but I may be too lazy to play him XD
4. The musical mare turned to look at the pony who dropped tipped her a few coins. It appeared that she had been followed by the mare she had decided to talk to, "Thanks, glad to hear it." Lyra grabbed the hoof of the pony, who had introduced herself as Banner-Captain Valor Bound, and shook it gently, a holdover from her developmental years in Canterlot. It was strange to hear such regal speech from, well anyone. As she looked over the military mare, a smile of tranquility came on her face. "It's nice to meet you Miss Val. You can just call me Lyra." Formalities were never really something she was good with, but when talking to someone in the military, she felt it was a good idea. Although maybe 'Miss' wasn't the right term, was it? Didn't matter anyway, seeing as she had already said it. Lyra closed her case and slung it over her back. Though her original plan was to go home, now that she had started conversing with somepony, she felt a change to her plan was needed. "So, do you want to get out of here and go somewhere? After all, it isn't really fun to spend free time at work." It also didn't help that even though she didn't really know many places around the Empire. Hopefully spending some time with this new face would open here eyes to some new places and experiences. Either way it would keep her from being all alone. Lyra didn't really care too much for spending time by herself, as other ponies just made things more entertaining. Plus she hadn't heard any good songs about being alone, so it was horrible for her musical writing.
5. Peace listened to both sides of the argument. He understood both sides as well. Elder built this place herself, and didn't want just anyone running it, but the stallion, Foalfellow as he introduced himself, sounded like he really wanted to help expand the tea shop. It may be a bit presumptuous of him, but he did have an opinion on the situation. He sheepishly made his opinion heard "I could help. I mean, you know I love to help people relax, so maybe I could run the other shop?" He realized that what he said may sound a bit like he was trying to force El into it, so he back peddled a little. "As long as it's okay with you Ms.El."
6. Crystal Empire, After Hours Club As the door behind her closed, Lyra made a realization. She had completely neglected to receive the bits from her tip jar. A sigh escaped her lips as she placed her hoof over her face. It wasn't that she needed the money, but it made her life a little easier and paid for her guilty pleasure. Turning around, her hoof found its way to the door, but with no handle, she couldn't get back in. "I guess I'll just have to go get through the front door..." Slowly she wandered around the corner and found the entrance. Taking a deep breath, the unicorn put a smile on her face and walked into the building. It appeared that there were some ponies that were stilled revved up by her music, as she was cheered as she walked back into the lounge area. The mint mare waved and nodded at the other ponies around her, as if it was all part of the show. This part was actually pretty nice, being able to actually get close to ponies who come to listen to the music. Walking past one of the mares, who gave off an air of of valor and poise, Lyra locked eyes on her, "Enjoy the show?" The question was rhetorical, but, for some reason, she wouldn't mind an answer. Once up to the stage, Lyra placed her instrument's case on the floor and opened it. Grabbing the tip jar, she poured the coins into a pocket of the case. There wasn't that much in the jar, but she still didn't like pouring the jar out. It made her feel like ponies thought of her as greedy. It wasn't that there was any real evidence or proof of either her greed, nor the supposed feelings from the other ponies, but still. Once the jar was emptied, she closed the cases and turned to look at the crowd again. Her eyes scanned the other ponies, almost as if she didn't want to leave. Basically because she doesn't want to leave. Going to her place would be empty save for her furniture and music.
7. And the musical mare is living in blissful ignorance. Thinking that she is living under a ruler who wants only peace.
8. Oops were we suppose to get permission for an npc? cuz I already made one lol.
9. Crystal Empire, After Hours Club The large room was dark and difficult to see in, though there was enough light to make out the shapes in the room. There were many tables, most of which had at least one pony sitting at it. Stallions mostly, a few mares were there as well, but everyone knew that they were just arm candy, possibly not even knowing the stallion they came with. All of them were seated in a way that easily allowed them to look at the stage, the only part of the room that was well lit. The stage was empty save for a microphone stand and a mint green unicorn who was making her way into the spotlight with her golden lyre. Even though she was using the magic to carry the instrument, once reaching the microphone, she stood on her hind legs and held the lyre in her front hooves. A sparkling hazel hand soon appeared in front of the strings with the same timing as an aura of the same colour covered her horn. She wasn't much one for magic, but if it helped with making music, she had tried to master it. The fingers strummed along the strings releasing sweet tones in a slightly upbeat tune, a tune that was perfect for an opening performance. It was enough to get a crowd into it, but not enough to turn off those who weren't wanting to pay attention. As the tune played, the musician's eyes scanned the room. Her eyes took time to adjust before she realized that most of the tables had just two ponies. This was a night for couples, and thus she would play to the crowd. As the night went on, her music was clearly starting to effect the crowd more than anything they were ordering. Most of the shapes at the tables were getting closer and forming into one blob that was two ponies, while other tables had their occupants making sure they were staying on the opposite side of the other, clearly not looking for anything that the music was relaying. After each song, a few claps could be heard, but they were few and far between. As the time rolled on, the room started to empty out with each couple that left to go find time alone. Soon, there were just a few tables with anyone left, and the crowd was no longer looking for love. With enough time for one last song, the unicorn decided to shift gears. For the first time tonight, she spoke into the mic without any musical backup, "Thank you all for staying and listening. My name is Lyra Heartstrings. I think I have enough time for one more song, and since all the love birds have gone to night guard..." She strummed the lyre and started stomping a rhythm, the music was much faster and more upbeat. "Let's raise our glass to the king of gems, and for crystal ponies saved, One thousand years of frozen ice, Had trapped us in despair, What savior rests while on her star we die, Forgotten freedom burns, Has the hero left her lambs to stray, to the bigot and the spell. Must it take our lives for armor's shine, To glisten once again, Cause we'll find our way back home someday, Singin' crystal lullabies. I watch and stare as Lesti`s eyes, Turn a darker shade of red, And the spell with this caster lie, In their broken gutless cell, Must we starve on crumbs from long ago, Through these bars of stallion's steel, Is it a great or little thing we fought, Knelt the conscience blessed to skill. Must it take our lives for armor's shine, To glisten once again, Cause we'll find our way back home someday, Singin' crystal lullabies. Ah, but maybe it`s the way you were taught,Or maybe it`s the way we fought, But a smile never grins without tears to begin, For each kiss is a cry we all lost, Though there is nothing left to gain, But for the banshee that stole the grave, Cause we'll find our way back home someday, Singin' crystal lullabies. I sit in and dwell on faces past, Like memories seem to fade, No colour left but black and white, And soon will all turn grey, But may these shadows rise to walk again, With lessons truly learnt, When the blossom flowers in each our hearts, Shall beat a new found flame. Must it take our lives for armor's shine, To glisten once again, Cause we'll find our way back home someday, Singin' crystal lullabies, Cause we'll find our way back home someday, Singin' crystal lullabies. Singin' crystal lullabies" By the end of the song, what remained of the night's crowd was up and clapping along with the beat, before erupting into all out cheering. Lyra raised her voice into the mic so that she could be heard "Thank you all! You've been great! And don't forget to get one more for last call!" She walked off the stage, and made her way backstage to be greeted by one the waitresses. "I see that managed to whip up the room again. Do you like making my job hard?" The mare said with a tone of both sarcasm and joking. The mint mare looked at her brown coated and silver maned coworker, matching the tone she received, "Of course I do, Tippy. I love it." The two of them shared a laugh before the brown crystal pony went back to the floor. With the back room left to just Lyra, she felt it was time to go to her to leave work. Her lyre became surrounded in a hazel aura and floated into its case, before the whole thing floated up and placed itself on the musician's back. Following her normal routine, she left through the kitchen door, mostly to prevent any stalkers. A familiar voice called out to her, "Be careful going home!" Tippy called out to her. Lyra waved her response before walking out. She never said it out loud, but home wasn't the right thing to call it, as she felt she lost her home long ago.
10. So for those of us in the crystal empire, I have a question. What is the current status of the crystal heart?

Throwing my hat into the ring Name: Lyra Heartstrings Age: Mare Gender: Female Race: Unicorn Faction: Crystal Empire Sub-Faction: Civilian Place of Birth/Starting Location: Lyra was born in Canterlot, but will start in the Crystal Empire Physical Appearance: Mint green coat, with a pale mint and white mane of medium length. Her eyes are a amber colour just a bit more dull than her magic aura. Cutie Mark: a golden lyre symbolizing her ability to play the lyre with enough ability to effect those who hear the music History: Lyra was born and raised in Canterlot, where she grew up with her family. She quickly amassed a large amount of friends and loved to be surrounded by others. Being with her friends and family was something that she truly enjoyed. When she was young, a lyre was placed in her hooves and she took to it quite well. Although it wasn't until she started studying mythology that she truly mastered her instrument. Now it may seem strange that mythology aided her in her music, but one creature in particular, the human, quickly became her muse. She even managed to master a new spell called magic hands that allowed her to play multiple notes at once. Her talent quickly accelerated her to greatness, but she found the stage to be a lonely place that she didn't care for. Though she was surrounded by other ponies, when Lyra was on the stage, she didn't know anyone. In an attempt to find a place where she could never feel like that again, she moved to a small town named Ponyville. The small town quickly allowed her to befriend most of the townsponies. However, there was one particular pony that caught her eye, a candy maker with a pale coat and a pink and blue mane. The two of them were soon inseparable, building a happy little life together. Lyra played the small venues around town, looking at the small crowds full of ponies she had know to become her friends, she had truly discovered her paradise. Then everything changed during the revolution. The war had spread to Ponyville, and destroyed the little life she had built. In an bid to save her life, Lyra fled the town, but got separated from BonBon. Before she even knew what was going on, she had managed to make her way up to the Crystal Empire. The Empire had changed from the stories she had heard, it had started to grow in technology. It was amazing to her, seeing what ponies could do. While the war was going on, she tried to lay low and safe with the Crystal ponies, though she never forgot the one she loved. Once things calmed down, she returned to Ponyville, only to find a wasteland. With no clue of where BonBon could have gone to, Lyra had no other choice but to return to the Empire and hope their paths would cross again. As time passed, she soon started to get acquainted to her new life. The music she wrote and preformed was full of loving ballads and somber tragedies. She even made some new crystal friends, though it didn't fully put her at ease. Whenever she was alone, which was quite often, she started to resent the whole revolution. She didn't know the politics behind it, but she knew that if it never happened, she would still be happy. It was then that she heard of a new ruler of the Crystal Empire, Pierrot, who wanted to recreate the monarchy that had stood before the war. Though she didn't care much for the politics or turmoil, she felt that he may be on a path that would help her. Lyra had no real desire to join in any battles, but the promise of a new world like the old one gave her hope. She spread her hope through her music, and, though she was unaware of it, she spread his message as well.
