    Yin

    From the album: OC Art

New OC, last OC, not making another OC after this, have too many OCs, etc etc. I still can't get over my love of Kirins, or Qilins, and they winged counterparts. Did I mention that I love cloven-hooved mythical creatures? Because I do. All we need is for the show to have some cloven-hooved unicorns with lion tails and I'll be all set! Yin is a member of an (as of yet) unnamed Triad based in Long Kong. She was partly inspired by sans from Undertale (everyone better get ready for this puny to hit the stage) and a character from a Korean movie. She's lazy and likes to crack jokes all the time, but she'll get riled up if you mess with anyone she cares about. It takes a lot to get her mad, so if you manage to hit that point...you've done goofed. (Or maybe not. She's a powerful breath user, but physically speaking? A few good punches can take her down and out). She's also sister to Feng, one of PrinceBlueblood's OCs who is also a member of the Imperial Watch. The Imperial Watch with a family member who's a notable rank in a notable gang in Long Kong...I don't smell shenanigans at all~

"The drink?" Ryuichi is earnest in his desire to see Limi settled in and comfortable for his karaoke venture with the Shogun...maybe a bit too earnest... I'm having a lot of fun with these pencil brushes. Quick sketch and some lighting thrown in, featuring Ryuichi's attempts at ensuring the sake is to Limi's liking. Limi (c) Bellosh

    Bendy Pony

Bendy and the Ink Machine is a cool little game...the art style is so unsettling in its familiarity. Nice Bendy pony! I especially like the boarded up, sort of broken background, really captures the feel of the game.

Full size is best size! This started as a simple doodle to try and design a casual outfit for Ryuichi, and morphed into...this. I'm not even sure what this is even, but I had a vague idea of Ryuichi and Sanda exiting from the Polohama Dome after an exciting fight. Also don't know what's got Sanda so surprised or Ryuichi looking so approving, but apparently something's gotten their attention! They're not suppose to be on a date or anything like that, but it kind of looks that way, probably because of their clothing. I thought it would be strange to have Ryuichi dressed all casual like but have Sanda still in her armor. They've got to get out of their formal attire/uniform at some points every now and again! But yeah. Not good with backgrounds, so I had trouble trying to make an entrance into the Dome. I eventually played around with colors to try and get a neon effect going, and left it very vague and messy. This was mostly difficult to do because it takes place at night - I had to use a lot of saturated colors, which is difficult for me to do, but I think it came out okay. Sanda (c) PryoBlaze

Ahahaha you thought I was done well guess what I'll never be done Ahem. Another Okami picture featuring Ryuichi's brother Ishi, the newly made Ōmetsuke of Neighpon. I know, the angle is a bit wonky - it's like, stuck halfway between a front view and a side view - but overall I like how this one came out. I tried to make him a bit pudgier looking than the way I usually draw ponies because the character leans more towards the heavy side, but I don't know if that came across. Still - YAY OKAMI. Ishi (c) PyroBlaze
  7. From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Ryuichi's finally getting some family members, yay! PryoBlaze's newest Kirin character is Ryuichi's younger brother, and also the current Ōmetsuke of Neighpon. He values justice and the pursuit of the truth, both very good qualities for an Ōmetsuke to have! This was pretty fast and simple sketching, lineart, then color, though in truth I wasn't even sure I was going to be able to do this one. Thank God I was, because I really like being able to visualize the characters my own characters interact with! The contrast between the coat and mane is really visually striking, in my opinion. Here's to more of Ryuichi's circle of friends, peers, and acquaintances getting visual representation! Ishi (c) PyroBlaze

"Yeah, I'm being cute. What about it?" I dunno, I hadn't drawn Inkbrand in a while, I was bored, things happen. I take no responsibility for my actions.

  10. From the album: MLP Characters

Been having a lot of fun with these Okami drawings again, but I wasn't sure what character to draw next. I do have two other dragon ponies to draw, but neither of them are prominent enough for me to really have a desire to Okami-fy them. So, I wafted a bit, until I got a request to see Prince Blueblood from the show in this style. I thusly present to you said Prince, in all his magnificent, rose-tinted, sparkling visage, with the rose petals dancing in the wind behind him. Such sparkle, much wow. This was actually a really easy one to do, I sketched and finished it in like...an hour? Maybe not even an hour. It's always a chore trying to keep the overall look and "feel" of a hair style when it's billowing and waving in the wind, but I think I managed a pretty good job in this one! 12. From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

From time to time I draw gift art for the people who continually Like and support my artwork. Tacobob is one such person who has been "Like"ing my stuff since the very first picture I uploaded in my gallery almost three years ago, and Ciraxis is also someone who's constantly supporting my art. I was originally planning on just drawing one character, but then realized there was a perfect opportunity for me to thank both supporters at the same time. I really hope I didn't butcher Swift Squall's design - his app wasn't very descriptive on what he looked like, especially the mane. I also really apologize for not included the shades he apparently wears day in and day out. I really tried, but they looked truly awful at this angle, I could not get them to look like anything other than a strange lump sitting on his face. Fire Walker was Fire Walker, as per the norm, though with the addition of a shiny new bracelet! Fire Walker (c) tacobob Swift Squall (c) Ciraxis

Yay, more Okami pictures with more eastern-themed characters. The hair kind of came out wonky on this one, but I decided to just leave be. When Mei lets her hair down, it falls in a straight line, so it's kind of hard to draw it billowing in the wind with the twisty brush I use for the mane and tail. Still, I like it better than my first attempt. I had initially planned to draw Mei with her hair done up and wearing an Empress' crown, because or her tendency to daydream she's an empress and such - but then I figured an Okami picture should be true to the character themselves, rather than what that particular character wishes they were, if that makes sense. It should be a picture solely of Mei, not a picture of what Mei wishes she were like. But that's all hooplah. The important thing is Ooookaaaamiii!
  14. From the album: OC Art

Woooooah now. Been a long while since I uploaded one of these. But I figured, seeing how the art style is Japanese in origin, that I needed to draw at least one of my eastern characters in the style, and I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with the result. For anyone not familiar with the series, I drew a bunch of cast characters in the style of the Okami games a while ago, trying to mimic an ink and paint feel. I still haven't really figured out how to do that with solid lines (still searching for a good "ink" brush) but the hair usually turns out great thanks to a really neat brush I found that twists and bends around on itself. In this instance, I chose Ryuichi as my test subject because Neighpon and Shogun, but I had a lot of fun with this. I might try drawing my other eastern-themed characters in this style, because playing around with that twisty brush is just too much fun not to use it again and again and again!

'Bout time for another one of these, isn't it? Yeah...yeah, 'bout time. These are the character log pictures for some newer characters of mine. The Ryuichi one is actually old (I just used the same picture for his character log profile rather than make a new one), though I realized that I completely forgot to include Dawnguard's picture in the last set I did. So, there he is now, poor guy. ...If you can't tell, I've developed a bit of a liking towards Longmas/Ryumas.

Belated happy birthday to SteelEagle! As a birthday gift to him, I asked if he had something he wanted me to draw. One of his suggestions was "pathfinder adventurin'" - thus, a speed paint of Pathfinder traveling to remote corners of the world to find the mysterious and ancient *vague hand wave* of the lost *vague hand wave* civilization. About and hour and a half for this speed paint. I am pleasantly surprised with how it turned out, especially considering that I haven't done a speed paint in a long while, and landscapes have never been one of my strong points. Still, it turned out pretty nicely, if I do say so myself. Pathfinder's not really doing anything adventurous in and of herself, but the fact that's she out in this remote, wet marshland is totes adventurous enough, right? The correct answer is yes. Yes it is. Pathfinder (c) SteelEagle

    Lunar Observations

Wow... I'm not entirely sure why I like this picture so much. I think maybe it's something about the colors...the different hues of green/pale yellow, along with the different, deep purple hues of Luna. Plus the sparse leaves give the impression of willow trees. Or maybe it's something else entirely, I have no idea. All I know for sure is, awesome picture!

I haven't really drawn anything in forever - guess I'm just going through some sort of dry spell - but I decided to sit down today and draw something substantial if it killed me. Chibi ponies totally count as substantial. I haven't really been inspired to draw anything in recent RPs and such that I've been in, so I eventually just ended up doodling some chibi characters frolicking around and probably plotting mass chaos and destruction. This chibi style was actually pretty fun to draw, I might try to draw random chibi characters from around the forums if I feel up to it. Shadowmane (c) Bellosh

  21. ...This was ridiculous. And not a ridiculousness of the normal variety, no. This was...more than ridiculous. Were artificial kisses meant to entice sales rather than entice emotion really worth such a long wait? It apparently seemed so, as the line showed no signs of moving, either forward or backwards. The current contenders for apples were apparently content enough to wait a decade or two for said fruit, and Nocturne could only assume they were the best, thrice-cursed apples in the entire nation if they were all so willing to stand in line for such a long while. ...Didn't they have anything better to do? He certainly did, and with nothing more than a quiet snort, Nocturne Wisp turned around and headed straight back the way he came, back along the first road that led into the town proper. Generous pricing or no, he would settle for a small bag of apples at the local market instead, for there were simply far too many things to get done in his day to simply loiter about. The magical plants inside the Everfree were not going to clip themselves, after all. [[ Exit ]]
  22. Even years of etiquette practice and protocol couldn't prepare one for everything. Which is why Ryuichi was sure his ancestors would not find fault with him as he stood stock still for the photograph to be taken, perfect in every aspect of a stoic, serious Shogun...except for the faintest twitch of surprise in his left eye. The Ryuma kept his gaze fastened forward even as his ears followed suit, a treacherous twitch towards the right to better hear the low murmured words from the Empress standing next to him. Which were a surprise in and of themselves, no matter what they were actually saying. The playful smirk he could virtually hear in her voice, too, was a surprise, and Ryuichi could only thank his ancestors for the indescribable patience he felt, keeping his face looking forward when he longed to do nothing more but turn his muzzle and see if he was right about that smirk. Because who could have guessed that the sovereign ruler of Long Guo, held esteemed and equaled to Dragon kind and venerated as an almost otherworldly being, was a bit of a mischievous minx? Ryuichi supposed he shouldn't be too surprised - after all, the stern and austere facade of the Shogun was always quick to wear thin, and goodness knows if it wasn't a mask he often wore even when he was feeling anything but. Such was the responsibility of a ruler, after all. But still...he supposed the level of respect and otherworldly awe the citizens of Long Guo saw their Empress had impressed upon him as well, to an extent. Hearing such an earthy tone of voice from an otherwise unearthly position sounded...strange. But in a bad way? No...not in a bad way, at all. "Is that so?" the dark-maned Ryuma murmured back after a moment's pause, eyeing the staff that had approached the both of them to spread out their robes into appropriately dramatic flairs. "It has been a while since my last official portrait...perhaps I shall seek her out for a new commission." Another pause as their dual staff finished fixing their robes and departed, making way for the photograph to be taken. "Although I have found," the Shogun added, "that a painter's skill makes no difference when the inspiration boasts perfection...clothed or no." A bright flash, and another. And two more besides. And then his time in the Court of the Dragon Throne was done. With one last bowed head for the Empress, Ryuichi departed from the steps, his hoof steps echoing around the chamber as he made his way towards the entrance doors. His retinue was quick to fall into place behind him, but it was only until the doors were closed, the hallways transformed into the familiar sights of his lodgings inside the Imperial Palace, that Ryuichi let out a pent up sigh. "Ancestors," the Ryuma groaned, tugging at the collar of his robe a bit, "but I'll be glad to be out of this. Don't suppose you can carry me for the rest of our time here?...no no, away," the Shogun ordered, annoyed, the wry grin of commiseration meant for Sandā transforming into a scowl aimed at the several servants that had moved closer to him, hooves outstretched. "Just - have some breakfast brought to my quarters, if you please." Ancestors...he was never serious when he joked about being carried. In ten thousand years he would still not be serious. And in ten thousand years he was sure he'd need to remind them again, bless them. [[ Exit ]]

    Shiroi Boshi

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Part of my "draw every character that's associated with Ryuichi" initiative, with the most interesting result so far! Shiroi Boshi is the Gijutsu-sha/Tech Mage/Technomancer of the Shogunate, a genius of magitech who's in charge of an office that's responsible for magitech security, ethics, development, and pretty much anything and everything. Shiroi's a pretty interesting character, if you can't tell by picture alone...I'm looking forward to Ryuichi interacting with all these strong, independent mares that don't need no Shogun! Shire (c) PrinceBlueblood
  24. ...Huh. This was new, wasn't it? He wasn't the only one to notice either, if the quiet intakes of breath from some of his retinue were any indication. Ryuichi kept his features placid and calm, even as he watched the progress of the Empress down the steps with sharp eyes. When she showed no signs of stopping - and, what's more, started moving away from the center of the platforms - Ryuichi quickly followed suit, repositioning himself a bit off to the side as well, so that the two of them would be equidistant from the center, rather than the Empress standing off to the side. It was only natural, after all. A meeting of equals. Up close, the Empress of Long Guo was even more stunning than memory indicated...not to mention said memory all included a young filly rather than the grown mare standing in front of him now. Whatever the case, fact took priority over memory as Ryuichi carefully kept his eyes locked onto the Empress' face, ignoring the urge to take in the entirety of the mare, extravagant robe and all, and instead making due with the warmth emitting from her bright azure gaze, earnestness exuding from ever pore of her being. How long had it been, really? Ryuichi could remember finding the possibility of marriage to this mare a pained but expected prospect - not a slight against the Kirin herself, but simply a young colt's natural inclination towards lumbering golems rather than due courting procedures. And now here he stood, matured, wiser, a memory grown into reality standing in front of him, the same reality that could now never be. And it was for the best, Ryuichi supposed. The Emperor last had, after all, broken centuries of tradition to ensure his daughter ascended over first born son, and there had to have been reason. With many offices and authoritative positions in Neighpon elected by merit rather than inherited by blood, several of his citizens had approved the change, while others balked at such a blatant disregard for tradition. Senile old stallion, they said, gone mad in the last years of his life. The mark, said others, the mark. It is her destiny. ...In the end it mattered little. Empress Yù Yuè of the Féng Dynasty was seated on the Dragon Throne, for good or for ill, and was reciprocating the intent of Neighpon twofold, an equal standing on the fate of their two countries. Ryuichi closed his eyes briefly, that short moment of thinking and planning and considering before opening his mouth, and opened them again, bright golden gaze resting on the face of the Empress. "Then for Ten Thousand Years," the Shogun called out, now turning to face the assembled mass of ponies, side by side with the Empress, "let us rejoice in lasting peace between the Imperial Dynasty and the Shogunate. For a union of Might and Peace to reign in the East. Against all turmoil and strife, will the East stand strong in harmony!" There were no cheers as there would have been in front of an assembly of the strict regiment of court - instead there were well-rehearsed yet sincere shouts of both their titles carelessly thrown into the air, to mix and mingle and intertwine. Ryuichi stood still and silent, allowing the atmosphere of good-will and intention wash over the assembly - though, his eyes cut sideways to the Empress. Standing side by side atop the dais, formally arraigned in extravagant robes and armor, it almost gave sense to a declaration of marriage between the two leaders, a celebration of unity in the ultimate capacity...and to the memory of a small colt gagging and rolling his eyes as the hoof maidens gushed and prattled on over what a lovely union they would make. He might have been able to stifle it, but Ryuichi didn't bother hiding the small, wry grin that twisted his lips as he returned his gaze back out to the mass of ponies, mentally charting his course back to Sandā's side and out the doorway. This proclamation had taken place first thing in the morning, after all, and the last time he'd tasted authentic Long Guo cuisine had been too long indeed. High time to remedy that.

    The Kansei

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Part of my "draw every character that's associated with Ryuichi" initiative, the most complex yet most bad-flank as a result! Taiyou Hibana is the Kansei of Ryuichi's golem care taking team. If you can't tell from the picture alone, Hibana is probably going to be offending the serious, formal Palace Castle left and right, while Ryuichi stands off on the sides and laughs his head off. It'll definitely be interesting to see her interacting with other members of Ryuichi's inner circle! Hibana (c) Dio
