1. ((OOC: Welcome to the Apple Family Reunion thread. Any apple family pony is automatically invited and clear to post in this role play. If you would like to join as a non-family member, we'd love to have you too! Please PM me and ask for permission first before you allow your character to be mixed in with the overly friendly rough and tumble Apple reunion. Please refer to the link in my signature for any questions about the apple family itself.)) There will be no apple bucking today. No ma'am. Today was the big day. That big day where Ponyville doubled it's pony volume. Today, ponies would be filing in off the train station, trains coming from all corners of Equestria. Today was the annual Apple Family Reunion. Applejack was always flattered that her distant relatives had always agreed to come to Ponyville for the reunion. Besides it being one of the biggest landmarks in all of Equestria, it had made its name well known to anyone who loves apples. Sweet Apple Acres was also conveniently located as a central meeting place--a visit to Ponyville was never too much of a trek for most anypony. The spacious orchard grounds that fell in the apple barn's shadow was all set up with picnic tables, several paralleled pits of horseshoe tossing, and barrels of apple cider. Some of the community tables in the lot were empty to make room for any special apple recipes relatives decided to bring. There was sure to be enough food for everypony. In fact, Applejack and the rest of the family had always counted on non-family members to join the fun. Applejack sat at rest under a tree in the shade next to the entrance to the farm. All of the family should arrive any minute!
2. Pigpen Mr. Waddle Saddlesore On a sunny morning in Ponyville, Mr Waddle is walking with Saddlesore, having a conversation. "Why the long face, sonny?" the elderly stallion asked, "It's a perfectly wonderful day! Just look at the bright sun in the sky!" "Bright sunshine will give ya sunburn!" the younger blue stallion with the blur cutie mark grunted. "Oh come now, Saddlesore! Surely there's one thing on earth that makes you happy." "Can't think of any thing like that right now!" "I don't believe that for one minute! I'll show you that life can be fun! Look, over there! That pony looks very jolly!" "You mean that gruff looking garbage pony? He's got the worst job in all Equestria! How in the hay can HE be happy?" "Look for yourself, kido," Mr, Waddle said as Pigpen pulled his wagon behind him, emptying full garbage cans as he trotted and sang (To the tune of Pinkie Pie's "Smile" song): "They call my name Pig Pen, and I am here to say! I gladly walk the streets of town to take your trash away..ay..ay...ay! I truly love my job, the scent of trash I smell! I'll haul away your garbage and I'll clean your streets as well... Because I LOVE to make trips to the dump... ump .. ump... ump! And I LOVE to sort through all this stuff... uff ... uff .... uff! I LOVE Trash, I just can't get enough ... uff.... ufff.... ufff!: And Pigpen continued to sing, the flies buzzing around him began to 'buzz' in rhythm to the song. "C'mon every pony, toss your trash! When you do, it pays me cash! How I love to get my fee, and take your trash with ME...EEEEEEEE!" "EEENNNNOOOUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!" Saddlesore screamed, stopping the singing instantly. "Oh, hi there Mr. Waddle! Who's the blue guy?" "I'm Saddlesore!" "Well, if you go see the town doctor, maybe he can fix it!" "What??" "His NAME is Saddlesore, Pigpen. You seem happy this morning, what's the occassion?" "Big antique sale back at the Ponyville Junkyard today!" Pigpen bragged. "Got a lot of high quality merchandise to sell! Say, how about you two come along and I'll show ya what I got?" "Sounds splendid, doesn't it Saddlesore?" "I'd rather watch paint dry!" "Good! I just painted a wall before breakfast, you can watch it to your heart's content! Let's go! I've finished with the trash collection for today!" Within a matter of minutes, the three ponies were in the showroom of the Ponyville Antique Shop, nest to the Ponyville Junkyard. Mr. Waddle and Saddlesore looked upon many shelves filled with clean, quality merchandise as well as the other items on the sales floor. "Have some coffee, dear friends, just leave me the grounds cause I snack on'm during the day!" Mr. Waddle and Saddlesore looked stunned at that last statement. Pigpen walked up to the door and turned the sign on it to "OPEN". "Time to make some bits!" the unkept stallion neighed as he waited behind the counter for customers to enter the store.
3. It was a typical calm, peaceful day in ponyville, nothing exciting was happening, there had been no explosions lately, and Pinky has been keeping herself quiet that morning. Absolutely the picture of an Arcadian Hamlet. ...which was of course what Jezebel hated... On the other hoof, it did give her opportunities since nobody was expecting anything... As she was walking she noticed a older pony fruit vender, when she neared her horn glowed and a nearby bush shook. Predictably the vender turned to see what the noise was, and also predictably, Jez grabbed two apples form the cart, tucking them inside her coat as she passed. Moments later the fruit pony turned back, shrugging, none the wiser to the child's petty theft... The young red-pelt'd unicorn continued to the shade of a nearby tree where her horn glowed again and she pulled out one of the apples along with a knife, it was a rather mean looking knife, with a handle resembling carved bone with the shape of a pony-skull on the end, of course it was still just normal wood, not real bone, but she liked the aesthetics. She began cutting and munching on the apple. As if on cue a squirrel hopped over to her, chittering. Jezebel ignored it. The squirrel chittered again, staring at the apple, making it's desire clear... Jezebel sighed, looking around to make sure nobody saw her, she cut off a small piece of the apple and tossed it to the squirrel, who happily grabbed it in his mouth and ran up a nearby tree, sitting on the branch and began eating it. The filly smiled, a surprisingly warm smile for her, though as soon as she realized it her face hardened and soured again. After all, she didn't want to be seen as soft and sappy!
4. (sorry for the late reply, moving killed my wifi for a while) Techno quickly turned to face the pony who had taken her mane tie. "Wait miss that's-" She was momentarily blinded by a flash from the camera as the bag was placed over her back. She raised a hoof up and rubbed her eye. "Wow that's bright." She shook her head causing her messy mane to shake and helped her long mane to settle in a more natural way. As the camera flashed and she realised what exactly was going on her eyes widened and she raised a hoof up to her face and backed away from Photo Finish. "Oh nonono Mrs. Finish I-" *FLASH* "I'm not a -" *FLASH* "Ma'am I'm not a model! I-I'm not even popular! *FLASH* "I think you have the wrong mare!" She nervously shook her bangs over her face in a desperate attempt to hide.
5. "Oh well..." She sighed. "I hope they're late. I had only decided to do this monthly recently. Last year we only did this 4 times a year and a lot of issues came out in those meetings. Maybe the Ponies forgot?" The Mayor had realized that her demeanor had alerted her new guest. She calmed down and began to think what to do if indeed they were the only Ponies for this month's meeting. If worse comes to worst, she had decided to solely make her only guest welcome and ask for her suggestions and possibly some input. New ponies in town always had this air of excitement so maybe she could still turn this thing around. "Hmmm,.. any suggestions?"
6. Rainbow Dash blinked in surprise as she heard her name, turning her head to look at the speaker. She was startled, at first, uncertain, and then a broad grin spread across her face. "You've hearda me, huh? Yeah!" She shook his hoof, grinning. "My day's going awesome, thanks! My days are always awesome! How'd you hear of me, Silverbolt? I mean, I've done so many famous things, it's hard to keep track... " She felt thrilled. Was he going to ask for her autograph? She liked it when ponies did that... though it rarely happened.
7. Rhinestones on his jacket and a smile on his face. Blackfire, the showoff, had made it to Ponyville. Why he had wanted to go to Ponyville, he could no longer remember, possibly involving lumber or discount tools. No matter, he was there and he was prepared to make sure he wouldn't be forgotten. The best way would be to introduce himself in the simplest manner possible, by simply speaking. He spotted a nearby bench and hopped onto it, clearing his throat. "Attention Mares, Stallions, colts, fillies, Foals of all ages. You have been blessed with the presence of one of the world's greats. For I, Blackfire, am the greatest carpenter the world has yet to see." he announced to the heavens. Blackfire hopped off the bench and began trotting through the streets. "You've possibly seen countless ponies claim to be the greatest. But believe you me, I am that of which I speak." he continued, standing on his hind legs and extending his forelegs aside to show the words on his jacket. "These words are a symbol of my incredibleness. Some say I am a show off. But if that is what you call the best in the world doing as he does, then you may call it as you please." Blackfire dropped to his four legs again, and turned to the ponies he had assumed were following, and listening. He was absolutely stunned, to see not a single pony stopped their activity to listen to him. He muttered something under his breath, but the moment an older looking stallion looked at him, he quickly ran away. Later that afternoon, he was sitting alone at a table, withing sugar cube corners, enjoying a milkshake and grumbling to himself. "Confound those ponies. Can't appreciate a great talker if it kicked them in the face." he said to himself, an idea being hatched in his head.
8. Didn't see this yet, as The RP's I am in, use the messenger for OoC chat. Everything looks good so far!
9. I could have SWORN I've hit 'Follow' and 'Post New Topic' buttons, that's why I kept waiting for notifications endlessly. Seems my web failed me. Okay, so here's the deal. My main char, Unity, is going to stay a while in Canterlot before departing towards Ponyville. He'll try to solve some problems, and, more importantly, interact with other ponies. So the more he meets, the better. Now, the RP is open for all, which means you can join in and interrupt nearly everything (Nearly, common sense is still appreciated). Just like in life, we never expect what will happen after all. The RP is scheduled, in my mind, to finish with departure. Eventually, if somepony will want to travel along towards Ponyville, it'll be worth considering prolonging it. So, I guess RPing areas would be Canterlot, later/in end Outskirts (still falling under Canterlot), eventually Ponyville and maybe few events along the road. The RP had barely started, guess there are four of us already though. Guess one more slot open, before it becomes closed for now. PS: I've already managed to notice few important aspects of answering to posts, what I should take care of mostly when answering. But if any... 'veterans', noticed some technical issues, I'm more than glad to welcome those on my PM's. What doesn't kill us... you know the deal. Edit: Also, would be glad if everyone posted "in order", so that things don't get messed up easily if actually more joined. The topic shall serve for commenting RP's proceedings too, if needed.
10. (OOC: Time to add in a little madness.) With all the ponies in the library now, Guiding Light knew that the dragon had his hands full. The unicorn knew that if he was to get the answers he was looking for, he'd have to be patient. Now all he had to do was find a way to occupy his time, and what better way to do so than read! As the dragon was talking to other ponies, Light began to wander the library looking for his first book to read. There were so many to choose from this was going to be easy to find a book but hard to find exactly the right one. He weaved his way through the ponies there, trying to find his perfect book. There it was, on the highest shelf, was a book called Advanced Magical Spellcasting. Light knew there had to be something in there relating to illusion magic. The trick was how to get it down. Light focused his magic on the book, trying to get it down telekinetically. He slowly began to wiggle the book closer towards the edge. Suddenly Light didn't realize the true weight of the book and the book immediately dropped like a stone on Light's head. "Ouch, that didn't go as well as planned. Maybe I should work on my telekinesis too." Now he had a book to read.
11. Metal Maker or Double M came upon the later part of the scene and was surprised to see Tilly and Silver helping a disguised pony. Something wasn;t right. He saw the tail end of a fight with a large and mean looking stallion before he was whisked away by magic, He also saw a mean looking black stallion who was muttering something about freiends and enemies. He rushed over to TIlly and Silver and said "Are you two alright? I saw a battle with a sinister looking stallion take place in your vicinity and even though two of your friends banished him for now, I have a feeling that he shall return with more mischief. I think I should stay around in case he comes back. No offense to the masked mare and the black stallion who seems to blow hot and cold and suddenly disappered,, but there is safety in numbers. What exactly happened anyway? and why is that mare dressed like Mare Do Well of ponyville? I always seem to come in after the action is over, so I'd appreciate a recap.
12. Tomirite threw his saddle bag on the ground checking its contents. There was in it a magnifying glass, a book on different minerals, a shovel, several containers for sampling, tape, many different types of markers, and a map of the out lying area. "Good I have almost everything I need for this little excurtion into the outskirts." Tom started to trott toward the door before he relized he was missing some very key things for his exploration. "Oh no what if I get hungry or thirsty. I don't even know the lay out of the town. I just moved here." Tom franticly passed back and forth in his little hut, finally he stopped. "Well then Tom you will just have to look around the town and get to know it better. I'm sure somepony will help you out." With that Tom left his little hut shutting the door on his way out. "Ok Tom here we go new town. HERE I COME PONYVILLE!!!" Tom bucked his legs into the air and trotted aimlessly into town. Not knowing were he was going Tom just began to wander the town aimlessly hoping somepony would come to his rescue. please correct me if I did anything wrong here
13. Rarity hummed one of her favorite dressmaking songs just under her breath as she walked into the front show room of Carousel Boutique early one morning. She had nothing planned with her friends that day. No, that day was to be dedicated solely to her job. As much fun as Twilight and the other always were, Rarity was in need of many days like this that she could devote to the Boutique. Thanks to a fair amount of recent good press, orders just kept flying in after all. There was never any shortage of work to do! To be honest, it was a little daunting keeping track of it all. It was lucky that Rarity genuinely loved her job. Nothing was more enjoyable and rewarding for her than seeing a dress come together and watching a customer leave with a smile on her face. She didn't always get the luxury of the latter now that a lot more orders were coming in from out of town, but the satisfaction of a job well done was still so rewarding, that even as the work piled up, Rarity couldn't be more delighted with it all. That said, recently, with all the expansion of her business, Rarity had at least entertained the notion of maybe hiring help at some point. Even if she genuinely adored every aspect of running the Boutique, that might not continue to be realistic. She went over to the counter where she had her current dress orders. She glanced at the top order. It was for a couple dresses for a wealthy Stalliongrad business mare. Rarity was surprised to find her name was known that far away. Maybe it shouldn't have surprised her too much though. She had been invited to participate in the quickly approaching Ponywalk this year, after all. She smiled. She could still remember how it was when she first started and had only three or four regular customers, all Ponyville locals. She had really come far. Speaking of locals, it hit Rarity then: she needed to open up the shop. Even if she had plenty of dresses to design already, it was important to always have the shop be open to whoever wanted to come in and either buy a dress off the rack or place an order. Sapphire Shores had been a casual unannounced walk in after all. That decided, she rushed to the door and unlocked it and stepped outside for a moment. "Carousel Boutique, now open for business!" she started out loud while smiling to herself, satisfied, before going back inside. She then went to her work bench and started to plan the Stalliongrad mare's dress while she waited to see who her first customer might be New rules and procedure for thread, as of 24 September, 2012:
14. Turns was enjoying the day just walking through town being….well…himself. It was a wonderfully glorious day as he had overheard his manager saying on one occasion. There was a slight breeze and a crisp smell to the air. Nature was awesome, Turns quickly found himself in his own little world. He could nearly see and hear the music notes emanating from his surroundings. But of course he couldn’t help but give it his own little twist. He continued to walk down the road just thinking what he could do to really make today a glorious day instead of just a pretty one, ‘Well I could try and make some new friends, but I also need to produce something or my manager is going to be all over my tail.’ He shivered at the thought.
15. OOC- PATHFINDER She raced through the sky, the clouds seemingly parting ways for the pegasus in motion. She made no claim to the titleholder of fastest in her class or most skilled flyer, but few could match her manic and determined sprint through the skies. Few times in her life could she even remember this type of relentless beating being delivered unto the skies by her relatively small wings. Then again, had any event so deeply disturbed her, so cut to her core? She reasoned that the answer was no and that the haste that had made home in her breast was the appropriate response. She soared high to save time and when it was appropriate, she dove to increase her speed. There in front of her lay the small city of Ponyville, a town with recognition that far outstripped its real, pertinent value. Normally, it would have been a nice, somewhat notable place to lay her head down for a night and then seek out adventure until the grateful townspeople tossed bits her way and pointed to another worthy location. This day, however, it was her destination, every beat of her harried heart and every stroke of her frantic wings honed to the purpose of arriving in Ponyville as swiftly as she could. She spotted what appeared to be the town hall, the area around it clean and open for a while before bridges and buildings took their positions. Ponies milled about, discussing Celestia knows what. It didn't matter; Pathfinder had her landing zone. She pulled up briefly to get into position as she flew over the town, then angled herself towards the open portion. She rocketed towards the ground, slowing down just before impact. It didn't really work as her hooves had a hard time keeping up her landing speed and after nearly tripping she launched herself back into the air, gliding in order to slow down. She landed with some speed and her gallop was somewhat unrestrained as she came to a screeching stop less than a foot from the side of some building. She took a breath and gave a deep smile. That had been one heck of a landing! It hadn't worked and it had nearly ended with her head-first into a building, but nothing ever came easy for an adventurer, whether that was Daring Do or Pathfinder. That was why she loved Daring Do soooo much- they had so much in common! High adventure! Action! Excitement! Treasure! Her friends, foolish as they were, would claim it was more life imitating art than art imitating life, but she would have none of it! She had always seen herself this way and those who said otherwise were sticking their snouts where they didn't belong. Her seemingly earnest and honest devotion and love to Daring Do and her exciting adventures had been an important part of her marehood, and the midnight releases, the Luna Hour Release as it was widely known, of her favorite series were filled with more honest excitement and love than any of the Hearts Warming Eve celebrations she was dragged to. Who needed to hear about Hearths Warming Eve when Daring Do was freakin' base jumping into a volcano to escape from crazy land sharks?! Not Pathfinder! And as both a fan-club president and lover of the series, the midnight releases were near religious experiences for her. Always first in line, signed limited editions lined up and paid for, spoilers ruthlessly ignored and spoilerees trampled underhoof. On that day of the release, as the ponies waited for their wares, she always felt special, happy, and loved to be amongst so many other fans. And now that love had turned to anger. Anger! ANGER! Somepony had snuck into a bookstore in Ponyville and stolen- outright stolen- a signed limited edition copy of the newest Daring Do novel, Daring Do and the Mystery of the Manehattan Minute, that was meant for Ponyville's Daring Do fanclub president. If this vile, thieving Pony started spoiling the novel for others, it would be a disaster. This was the mist anticipated release in the series for quite a while, as the author had made the decision to have her traverse the urban jungle of Equestria's largest city in place of some exotic locale. No one knew what to expect, and this thief may very well ruin it for everyone! Not to mention she wanted to read it first. It irked her that the author had stopped sending passages from future works to the fan club. Had her critiques of the author's characters angered him? She certainly wished not. Any true artist demanded critique and she knew he was a true, beloved artist. No matter! Someone had broken the law, broken that code by which all fans lived, and probably broken the spirit of the fan club president in the area. Dastardly deeds called for a heroic response, and Pathfinder was willing to deliver. She would recover the book, capture the thief, and restore the shattered spirit of the local president. She would be a hero- for Daring Do! The backwash from the speed of her landing finally hit her, ruffling some feathers and jostling her tightly strung, officially licensed and privately modified Daring Do hat. She turned to a Pony not far from her. "Ponyvillian, where is your book store, and where is the Daring Do fan club president?" She asked, confidence and aggressiveness dripping from her every word.
16. OOC- -Valen Orange- http://www.canterlot...n-orange-final/ "It is just for a month, son. It will be fun." What was fun about being sent from your home? "The Apples are a fine family, very...err, strong morals. I am absolutely sure you will find it a pleasant experience." Nuh-uh, this is just wrong! "Besides, one of them is an Element. She is a hero, and how can you say no to that?" Quite easily, as it were. "The decision has been made, son." And Valen had known that since the very start of the conversation. Oh, he knew his parents loved him and he loved them with equal fervor. But he often questioned their mindset, wondered if their lifestyles amongst the cream of the Manehattian crop had made them sickly, deluded and insane. Under what mind was sending a foal away from home to some distant, remote farm, away from friends and a comfortable environment, the proper course of action? A sick one. He sighed. He knew what they had said made some sense. He hadn't really ever thought about it, but he hadn't exactly prospered in that megatropolis. The family business had little to no grasp on him. He didn't want to be some bean counter and holding large formal parties so he could pry into somepony's pocket, socialization in the name of business. He also had no desire to be sent to some farm somewhere to oversee the day to day business of orange production. That would have been dull, and since he was never a pony to hide his thoughts, they had manifested themselves quite clearly. Naps when his father tried to teach him about corporate accounting. Daydreaming when his mother tried to teach him about the finer points of oranges. He was focused more on the nice dresses worn by those elegant mares during those large formal sessions that he was in attempting to hawk his family's wares. Never a liability but never an advantage, his lack of interest was one thing that was more apparent than any other facet that his parents could see. They weren't blind to his nature, but rather acutely biased in their perceptions, business and history playing illuminating factors in their every judgement. But in spite of their bias, they did know some things. They knew he was what the Pegasi of old might call a 'weak foal', though they knew his strength of character was not questioned. He disdained physical labor, though he often kept those thoughts to himself and did what he was told. His appearance was kept impeccably maintained and manicured femininely, and his circle of friends(the few he had) were universally similar. He was smart but never focused on his studies, his eyes moving at the speed of his mouth as he gabbed and gabbed and gabbed and- his parents got the picture. They had their opinions on him, their worries about their unusual colt foal. These worries manifested themselves uniquely in different types of ponies. Some would sit there and allow their worries to consume them. Others would attempt to hammer the foal into a certain mold. Valen's parents hadn't done either thing, deciding that the proper, responsible thing was to send their little foal on a little trip to their cousins. Why not the Oranges? Even to Valen, the reasoning seemed weak. There had always been a disconnect between those who lived in the big cities and ran the family business in a corporate sense and the majority who toiled to fulfill the promises of the big wigs. It hadn't created a sense of hate or loathing, but relations could be cold at time. His parents had been worried that the Oranges wouldn't...well, the worry wasn't that he would be mistreated, but that they would use him for some sort of family politicking. It didn't make any sense to Valen that families would fight amongst each other, but such was the case it seemed. Even then, why the Apples? The Oranges didn't necessarily look down at them, but well, their business was ran from a farm by a bunch of farm ponies while the Oranges lived in the lofty heights of Upper Crust. Plus, from everything Valen had been told, oranges were patently superior to apples. But they respected the fact that the Apples were universally hardworking, loyal to the family, helpful, and kind. Plus, one of them was an Element and after the ceremony in Canterlot after their defeat of Discord, they all had a measure of fame that, perhaps, they knew not of. They never played games and at Sweet Apple Acres, they did both the business of business and the work that went into it. Perhaps he would find himself there- and at the very least, it would probably toughen him up and get him more organized. It was- -Valen's head smacked into the front of the seat in front of him, sharply waking him from his sleep as his head staggered back. The train had come to a stop and for reasons explainable only to Celestia, he had been launched forward. Quite rude and little more than annoying, he stood up in the soon-to-be crowded aisle in the train. He sighed. He wished he had been given a room of his own, but the only ticket available had been in...uggh...coach. It wasn't that he was rude, but the other ponies sure did smell. Did all train ponies smell like this? Valen sure hoped not. He had been forced to endure a crazy stallion that had sat next to him when they left Manehattan. He had never once stopped jabbering about cockatrices and some other completely mythical beasts. He had gotten off at a stop not far from the city and Valen had been saved from the encroaching insanity by the swiftness of Equestria's chosen mode of transportation. Still, that had done little to comfort him at night as the train roared across the landscape towards Ponyville. It was cold, too cold for his taste, and the wafer-thin blankets provided by the attendants did little to help him. He had eventually adapted to the cold, but the noise had never quite been settled in his head. Newborn foals crying, the rude unicorns behind him yammering on and on about magic, snoring and generally a lot of unpleasantness abound in coach, and it had taken him nearly all night to fall asleep. And it figured that it seemed like he had slept for but a second when the train came to a screeching halt and sent him flying into the back of the seat up front. As he recovered, he moved into the aisle beside himself and took a step forward just as everyone else seemed to gather themselves and do the same. In this pony wave, he was nothing more than a drop and he found the pace to be slow as Ponies gathered their carry-ons. He had no carry-ons, just a single suitcase in luggage, and was more than a little annoyed when multiple ponies in front of him found within them the contempt for others to fully open up their carry ons and count their belongings. Still, progress was made and even though it took several minutes, he was able to squeeze his way out of the exit and nearly trip onto the train station's cement floor.
17. With bags on either side of his body filled with Fireworks, Firecrackers, & materials to make more if needed, Firework trotted into Ponyille. Because of his protective parents this was his first time here, they had always felt he was never old enough to travel on his own until today. Firework had intended to sell his Fireworks here but everything was so distracting; there was just too much to see! "I wonder why mom & dad never let me come here" The wide eyed colt asked himself while taking a whiff of some flowers outside a small Home."Oh!" He was then quickly distracted by some pastel Butterflies passing by. Forgetting all about why he was here, Firework started to follow them mindlessly with a goofy grin on his face. "Wait, come back!" He shouted to the creatures as they started to get ahead of him, Firework started to flap his wings to fly after them but, because of his heavy bags he was quickly pulled back down to earth with a loud 'Thud!' "O-Ohhh...o-oww that hurt!" Firework groaned in pain as he lie on the ground, a bit dizzy from the sudden impact. After clumsily stumbling around, Firework regained his balance & it was then that he realized all the things in his bags went flying everywhere. Panicking, he began running around trying to collect them. "Oh no, oh no! Mom & Dad are gonna be so mad at me if I lose any of these!" Firework paused for a moment, a Firecracker in his mouth. "And not to mention the money I'll lose!"
18. hi hi Getting up this morning had been a challenge. As much as Ginger Mint had ached after the Running of the Leaves, after a good night's sleep, her muscles cooled off, stiffened up and even the smallest movements felt like pulling a wagon full of bricks. She felt weak as a baby kitten, where even lazily batting at a ball of yarn might require a great deal of effort. She felt lucky, at least, that she had been able to borrow use of Sugar-cube Corner's kitchen without any real hassle. Most of the heavy baking had taken place earlier in the morning, and she had been able to impress upon them that she was a professional and wouldn't break anything or make a huge mess, though she wasn't sure why saying such a thing would have made them laugh so much. She'd made this recipe hundreds of times before, snickerdoodles were one of her favorites, but this time her aching limbs turned the stirring spoon into a hefty oar, every stroke a trial. She knew she was running behind schedule, but after yesterday, she was done with rushing. If getting it right means taking my time, then I'm taking my time. Besides, there are some places where being a little bit late is expected. Ponyville wasn't one of those places, and she knew it, but the thought comforted her as she waited for the cookies to come out of the oven. It helped distract her from the little twinge of anxiety she felt every time a customer entered the store. Sure, she'd peek her head out the door and check to see if it was anypony she recognized, but now she was almost hoping that someone would arrive before the cookies were done just so she'd have some company, and it would be better than everypony waiting for her to show up at the cafe. I'm pretty sure I told them I'd be making cookies here before I showed up, I hope they're not wondering where I am... There had been a brisk little breeze when she arrived this morning and she knew that as soon as the cookies came out of the oven, she'd need really push herself to get them over to the cafe before they cooled off completely. With that in mind, she tried singing a little tune while she cleaned up the remaining dishes. "Fresh cookies, they're the best warm and chewy, crisp or gooey not to hot, not too cold don't burn your mouth don't let 'em get old cookies, good with tea good with milk good with coffee, or anything else."
19. The Mayor The sun had barely risen and everything was still quiet. The early birds were already chirping but that didn't quite break the silence. It was early in the morning and only a few Ponies were usually already up at this hour. The newspaper delivery filly already had began her rounds, leaving today's paper at the doorways and mailboxes of Ponies' houses. A few delivery Ponies were unloading supplies from carriages into the marketplace. Fresh produce, daily necessities and other trinkets that Ponies may need were hauled into shops and stalls. The train station began to come alive as Engineer Ponies did routine inspections on the engine, passenger and cargo cars. They made sure that the train was in tiptop shape before the first trip of the day. All the while, a lone figure could be seen walking along the town's main road. She was on a slow trot, occasionally stopping to breathe in the fresh cold morning air that was laden with the scent of moist grass. It was a pleasing smell that could keep the mind at ease. The Mayor was doing one of her early morning walks. Whenever the previous day's work at Town Hall been stressful, she usually went to bed early so she could get up early the next morning for a walk. This was her way of clearing her mind as she re-focused herself for the day's task ahead. She made her way into the middle of town, passing by the marketplace where the delivery ponies were. They had just about finished unloading their produce when the Mayor had passed by. Good mornings were exchanged between the Mayor and the delivery Ponies. She bid them a good day, a job well done and went on her way. She then made her way into one of the Cafes near Town Hall. This particular Cafe had always opened early to serve breakfast. The waiter Pony had led her to one of her favorite spots at one of the outdoor tables. She had ordered the same thing everyday, so it was not necessary for the waiter Pony to ask what she wanted. It was automatic. She prefered her coffee sweet, strong and with a lot of milk. This was accompanied with buttered toast and dabble of strawberry jelly. She nibbled on it, careful not to eat it all up in one go, but to enjoy it by taking little bites. Today's paper was also on the table, she picked it up and scanned for anything interesting on the front page. The Sun was almost up and the sky was clear with very little cloud cover. She could immediately tell that this was going to be a fine and swell day for Ponyville and it's citizens. It was mornings like these that drove her to work harder. It was mornings like these that made her feel alive. And it was mornings like these that gave her time to think.
20. Ships. Ships everywhere. A great, vast, blue expanse stretched in every direction, his to patrol, his to explore, and his to set sail upon. Captain Spike – it had a nice ring to it, and with captain's hat and admiral's vest, he felt very much the part. Standing at the helm of the C. S. Infrequency, he felt very much at home, with his cargo of gemstones and silks above and below deck, to be shipped by February 14th. The clouds above, like marshmallows, and while smaller, oddly-coloured ships sailed in the distance, he made certain that his own white and purple galleon would be well-secured. All was well, all was calm. But then, an alarm! The shill jangle of incessant bells! The bells, the bells were crying out, the very world around him shaking just a tad with their piercing noise! He could feel himself being tugged up, sharply rising up and out of his fine ship, the whole world fading away... And then he fell out of bed, his dutiful alarmclock shaking the endtable with it's racket, rattling this way and that like some tiny, enraged little box of springs and cogs. Spike let out a groan, then an “Alright, alright already, I'm up...” But, rather than dutifully rise from the tangle of bedsheets and scales, he simply lay there, trying to drift back to his ubiquitous dreamland. The clock, however, would have none of this lollygagging, and though if by some mind of its own, the incessant ringing and rattling sent it slowly forward, to the precipice of the bedside furnishing, and then down onto Spike's forehead. It was, very clearly, time to get up. “Ow! Alright, alright already... ow.” A hand to his forehead, and up got the number-one assistant. A bit more painful than being dumped unceremoniously out of bed by an annoyed Twilight Sparkle, perhaps, but no less indignant. He picked up the still ringing alarm, clicking it off with a grumble, then set about remaking his bed, tidying up a bit, and grabbing a few sapphires. Breakfast food was blue! However, he didn't stay half-asleep long. It was not coffee nor gems nor magic nor even loud sounds that got him awake – it was a look at the calendar, it was nearly the eighth! “It's Monday already? Oh, man, where'd the days go! Hooves and Hearts day's coming!” This much, he knows! “I don't have a gift to give Rarity yet! Oh, I'll need a really good idea, I'd bet.” So Spike puzzled and pondered, then snapped out of his little rhyme, trying to think. Ok, it was monday, no need to panic. Just play it cool and think it through and get something really thoughtful. It was his first Hearts and Hooves where he actually had anyone to think about, so maybe it was important? He let his mind wander for a while – surely there'd be stallions at her door! They might even line up the evening before! With serenades, trinkets, sonnets and jewels, she'd have at her beck any number of fools! But her attention she'd win, and in that he'd entrust; he had to be Rarity's valentine, he must! Still... nothing came to mind. What did you get such an elegant pony for Hearts and Hooves day, anyhow? Did it matter that he didn't have hooves? Would that be something he'd have to compensate for? He'd need advice on this one, and he'd need it somewhat soon. So, with a quick bit of tidying and chore-completion, Spike gathered up his good backpack, a few bits, some gems, and what ideas he could gather, and started heading for the door. "To Ponyville market!"
21. http://soundcloud.com/riverhippo/introfarm "I can't believe it took us this long to formally meet our new neighbors, Big Mac. They seems like a fine bunch of farm ponies, don't they Big Mac?" Inside the barn's kitchen, Applejack grabbed several articles of fruit and vegetables including multiple colours of apples, a couple oranges, a maize lemon, a couple stalks of corn, and few heads of cabbage, and two large carrots and put them all into her over sized saddlebag. "I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. It's always nice to meet other families in the farmin' business, isn't it Big Mac?" Applejack continued to prepare herself for a short trek across farms. The Carrot family farm, which was just a few hoofs shy of Sweet Apple Acres' territory, was the location that Applejack and Big Mac were visiting. Despite being the friendliest of ponies, the busyness of the farm, having to rebuild the barn after a few unfortunate shortcomings, having the recent calendar filled with training dates and travel dates for Applejack's rodeo in Canterlot, and spending the next three days after the rodeo running away from her friends and the pinkie promise police, Applejack had no time to visit other ponies' farms. She was already acquainted with most of the farm folk in Ponyville, having done business with them down on the market. But a relatively new family had started a farm practically next door to Sweet Apple Acres and it had taken the apple ponies this long to realize it. Applejack shimmied her saddlebag full of fixin's onto her backside. It was heavy enough to require a belt that strapped together on her belly-side. "Why, I believe that pony I ran into during the running of the leaves was one of them ponies we'll meet today! Carrot Fields, I believe was his name. He was so shy and nervous around me, heh heh." Applejack poked at Big McIntosh as she chuckled. "I bet him and Fluttershy would get along real well, wouldn't they Big Mac?" Applejack winked to her brother before walking slowly out of the barn. "Hey Big Mac, I'm ready to go, are you? Hay, what are you bringing with you anyway?"
22. "Of all the days the local weather crews could have picked, it had to be this one..." Virtue gritted his teeth, clamped his wings shut, and forced his way through the howling tempest, with each step silently thanking the last shop owner he had visited for the storm-proof gear. The driving rain stung his flanks and streamed through his mane and blaze, blurring his vision and clouding the breath in his nostrils with fine mist. In the periphery of his vision, Virtue spotted something in the gloom. A short distance away, an old barn rose out of the mists. Though it was in disrepair, it appeared intact enough to weather the storm. Virtue grunted as he slogged through the muck that, in dry weather, would have passed for a trail. The decrepit barn loomed in front of him, its shutters flapping in the baying wind and front door clearly falling off its hinges. Still, it was better than being out in the open and a sight more respectable than the cover of an old oak in Everfree. "Abandoned, but serviceable. This will have to do." The Pegasus breathed a sigh of relief as he stepped into the barn, immediately enjoying the feeling of no longer being bombarded by stinging droplets falling from the sky like a million arrows. Virtue shook himself off, starting with his cropped-short mane and working his way down his body, flapping his wings and flicking his tail to work the worst of the rain out. Though his coat was still damp, it was far more comfortable than being soaked. KA-THUNK. Virtue's saddlebags and scabbard clattered unceremoniously to the concrete floor of the barn. He was far too exhausted from fighting the storm to care about proper procedure at this point. Nudging his gear into a dry corner, Virtue curled up on the floor and was soon fast asleep.
23. It was evening in Ponyville. The sun had already set and the moon had risen in the sky. In town many of the ponies had already closed up their businesses for the day save for a few eating establishments. Many of the ponies were at home with a few still out in town talking to each other. Yet there was one pony who seemed to stand out in this setting. In the town square, seated on a bench, was a colt, young enough that he received his cutie mark about a year ago. In the moonlight his white pelt and silvery mane and tail seemed to be illuminated. He appeared to be deep in thought about something as he looked up at the moon. "What is my purpose," he asked himself, "I got my cutie mark, and I know my talent, but now what? What am I supposed to do with creating light other than helping ponies see?" Frustrated he put his hooves to his head. "I wish there was somepony who could do the same light magic or somepony who knew about it to teach me some things."
25. Heading into town Clock Works looked around happily and smiled 'So this is Ponyville... Wonder what I should I do first...'. Strolling past several colorful buildings and eventually into the market place. Having normally kept to himself up in his clock tower most of the time, he hardly knew his way around Canterlot, let alone a town he had never even seen until now. But this didn't matter, he came to Ponyville to meet new ponies and to see what life has to offer, other then clocks and watches, and he was determined to make his first impression in Ponyville, a great one, now if only there was somepony to make his first impression on.
