Granola Gracie walked up to the farmhouse of Sweet Apple Acres. The sun had just set and the remaining ambient skylight was reflecting off the wet garbage along the orchard path from the week's long cider festivities. It had been a couple days since the cider rush had died down, but Granola figured the apples were prioritizing inventory before they clean up the farm. Applejack always ran a tight orchard. She visited the farm this evening in order to finally pitch to her tree-loving neighbor a new apple seed. Granola was a botanist. She loved caring for plants and flowers but also enjoyed investigating new species of fauna and even resurrecting lost plants from the ages. Recently she happened upon a discovery that would lead her down the path of possibly inventing a new species of apple. And she couldn't think of another pony that would be more helpful on this task. The brown earth pony gallantly and with a smile, knocked on the door to the farmhouse. Hopefully, Applejack was not too tired to meet with her.

The rooster crows at the first light. As the sun peeks over the horizon, settled fog is exposed in the valleys of the apple orchard giving it the nonverbal command to quickly disperse. Conditions were perfect. It was a relatively beautiful day with a chilly breeze to remind all living creatures of the coming holiday seasons, the first of which was to be a Ponyville tradition known by ponies far and wide. It was cider season at Sweet Apple Acres! Along the road back to Ponyville from the farm were rows and rows of tents where ponies camped last night in an attempt to try and beat the crowds. The famous cider had created an insane demand for its taste, but the Apple family way of doing things would only yield so much cider for so many ponies to drink. Applejack would always assure everypony that there would be enough cider for all as long as ponies were willing to not take shortcuts and wait for the process of making the best cider in Equestria. And even though she would always be faced with criticism of short supply, she would be right all along and in time everyone would eventually go home happy and Applejack would be able to take a few barrels of cider for her family and herself for the next few weeks. The season wouldn't officially start for another hour or so, but even so several ponies were getting restless in their cooperative lines waiting behind the great cider counter set up at where the farm paths meet the road. The counter was adorned with all the spigots and tools needed to uncork new barrels and squeeze the apple nectar into wooden tankards, which were clean ready for their first pour. Applejack allowed ponies to bring their own vessels for the cider, but if not, she had a rotation of clean mugs ready for every customer that needed them. The sign above told everything everycreature probably already knew. 'Two bits for a cup, limit one per pony per day.' "Apple Bloom, could you bring over that spare pump, I think this one might quit on us at some point." Applejack yelled lovingly to her little sister as the orange mare looked over her counter for problems to minimize. To Applejack this was like any other day, it just had the higher volume of customers and slightly more tourism. Ever since the debacle from Flim and Flam trying to put the farm out of business, a healthy coating of sympathy and appreciation covered the cider season operation, with some ponies offering their help on the back end to make more cider and clean equipment involved in the process. Of course, Applejack was more than willing to pay a fair wage to the ones who earned it. She stepped out onto the road and looked down it, seeing the long line of ponies getting excited for their cider breakfast. The low sun reflected off the luster of the Ponyville road. "Howdy! How ya'll doing this morning? You guys ready for cider season to start?" Cider season wouldn't start for several minutes, but it was still nice to have a little moment to make small talk with the colorful ponies of Ponyville to help them manage their expectations and to gauge how impatient the crowd might become this year.

Cherrilee stood in the front the desks in the school building. She was ready to get her school day started, like always. She knew that every day would always different because of her wonderful students. They always brought smiles on her face and great joy in her life. She also loved how she felt like she brought joy into her students lives by teaching them new things and that they retained the information. Well, she hoped they retained the information. Cherrilee moved over and scooted one of the desks over so it was straight with the other rows. It didn't bother her that much because she knew that it would probably just get moved again by one of her students. But then again...it didn't bother her. Once the seat was moved she looked down at the ground and noticed a student's folder was on the ground. She rolled her eyes and gave the inanimate object a half smile. She huffed and leaned down and picked the folder up. She brought it over to her desk and laid it on the front of the desk. She hoped that once the students arrived the right one would pick it up. She then took her eyes away from the desks and moved them towards the clock. She noticed it was about that time so she moved towards the front door of the schoolhouse and propped it open to look outside. She stood in the doorway and decided to wait here for her students. She would greet each of them as they came in as she always does. It was time to start class. (Thanks Jane for the amazing Banner! )) Shady just got done with his morning preparations and was ready to head out the door to go to school. School. He loved school. It was where he got to see his best friends and Miss Cherrilee. He loved it everyday. He worked on the newspaper staff as well so he got to go to the basement a lot so he felt like a special pony. Shady grabbed his bag and gave it a quick check for his school supplies. Everything was there! So Shady waved goodbye to his parents and headed out the door. He did live a bit of a ways away from the schoolhouse so he always left a bit early. He has never been late to class and doesn't plan on being late ever. Shady had a small bounce in his step as he made his way towards the shoolhouse. He was ready to get the day started. As Shady approached the Schoolhouse he saw Miss Cherrilee standing out front like she always did. He came up to her and gave her a friendly wave. "Good Morning Miss Cherrilee!" Cherrilee smiled at Shady. "And Good Morning to you Shady." He then moved through the door and found his seat in the classroom. He looked around and saw that he was the first student in class. It made him smile.

"Ah sure hope everypony's impressed with mah new costume this year." Applejack stuffed her scare crow costume full of extra hay. Sure, it was the same scarecrow she had worn for the last six years in a row. But she felt she worn it better than anypony else. And besides, maybe there was a bit of superstition set in Applejack's mind. No scary crows were gonna get her mane in a tangle.Apples. The main ingredient for Applejack's annual apple bob setup. Of course, practically anything Applejack produced had apples at it's core. And a core was at the center of every apple. It always came full circle. Crispy. Crunchy. Fresh. Juicy. Apples. And water. Three tubs of water. Applejack had scooted out three tubs of water, and put about a half dozen apples on top for them to float. It was apple bobbing time. And at the town center where the annual Nightmare Night festivities were held, Applejack was in charge of this section of the celebration. It included apple bobbing, spider tossing, and pumpkin launching. Anypony of any age would have fun. And on top of that, Applejack had several treats as prizes, and were also available for sale as well. "Anypony wanna trah bobbing for an apple?"

Applejack walked into the dining room, where Granny Smith and her little sis Apple Bloom were waiting for her. Applejack had called a meeting. "Alright y'all. Here's the problem. We got a heapin' pile of extra apples sitting in the barn and they are all surplus apples from last week that didn't sell. That big party Pinkie threw for Twilight at Sugarcube Corner in celebration of Twilight's second year living in Ponyville filled so many ponies with cakes and cookies that they musta notta needed to buy their usual amount of Sweet Apple Acres apples. And it resulted in us having all these apples that wont sell and will spoil soon if we don't get them moved on outta here." Applejack was frustrated. She hated it when the farm's business hit bumps in the road. It was a lot of hard physical labor just to get the farm running at productive levels of profit, even harder when sales figures became affected by the weather, theft, wild animals, and pinkie's parties. Applejack slammed her hoof on the table. "So what are we gonna do? We gotta get these apples sellin' without just givin' them away fer free. Any ideas?" Applejack paused and looked at her grandmother and sister, both of them pretty quiet and reserved, at least for ten seconds. "Anything?"

((OOC: Welcome to the Apple Family Reunion thread. Any apple family pony is automatically invited and clear to post in this role play. If you would like to join as a non-family member, we'd love to have you too! Please PM me and ask for permission first before you allow your character to be mixed in with the overly friendly rough and tumble Apple reunion. Please refer to the link in my signature for any questions about the apple family itself.)) There will be no apple bucking today. No ma'am. Today was the big day. That big day where Ponyville doubled it's pony volume. Today, ponies would be filing in off the train station, trains coming from all corners of Equestria. Today was the annual Apple Family Reunion. Applejack was always flattered that her distant relatives had always agreed to come to Ponyville for the reunion. Besides it being one of the biggest landmarks in all of Equestria, it had made its name well known to anyone who loves apples. Sweet Apple Acres was also conveniently located as a central meeting place--a visit to Ponyville was never too much of a trek for most anypony. The spacious orchard grounds that fell in the apple barn's shadow was all set up with picnic tables, several paralleled pits of horseshoe tossing, and barrels of apple cider. Some of the community tables in the lot were empty to make room for any special apple recipes relatives decided to bring. There was sure to be enough food for everypony. In fact, Applejack and the rest of the family had always counted on non-family members to join the fun. Applejack sat at rest under a tree in the shade next to the entrance to the farm. All of the family should arrive any minute!

Any character developments related to the Apple family, either original or tier 3, will need to be obscure cousins or other distant relatives. - This tree will continue to grow as other apple ponies become characterized on the board role play. There are probably hundreds of ponies that could be listed on the tree, but the are left out in order to give future players a chance to spur their own creativity. - Original characters can be placed into the tree as they become applied for. - Just because Granny Smith's family started the orchard that founded Ponyville, doesn't mean that all apple ponies have to be from Sweet Apple Acres. Any extended family outside of this origin would need to be under ancestors that were either siblings to Pokey Oaks or Sew 'n' Sow or above. - There are several canon apple ponies that are not listed on the tree because their character has not been finalized. Some of the connections with the apple family are questionable, but are sometimes implied because of their country nature and/or because of an apple-related cutie mark. If you are interested in being a low tier cast character or background character, please refer to the character pool that I have conveniently set up. These names and information are drawn from the MLP Wiki page. If you have any extra information that is not already listed, please share. Sweet Apple Acres is one of two canonized orchards in the show. The other is located in Appleloosa. Several apple orchards should exist all over Equestria, as not only do Apple family ponies live everywhere, but apples are one of the most popular fruit for ponies, too! Other than the name of Sweet Apple Acres and the events and likenesses that have taken place there in the show, all of the following developments for the purpose of canterlot.com world of equestria role play is designed to be an extention of this canonization but yields to future possibilities and canonizations that may and probably will occur in the future of Friendship is Magic. Sweet Apple Acres (Ponyville, Equestria) Crops that grow on Sweet Apple Acres: -Apples (several types) -Lemons -Grapes -Corn -Cabbage -Carrots Animals on the farm: -Pigs -Sheep -Chickens Farm dog: Winona Buffalo Run Apple Orchard (Appleloosa, Equestria) Buffalo Run (originally called Palomino Run) Established a little over two years ago by Braeburn (as of season 3, which I assume some time has passed since Over A Barrel), the orchard was originally named Palomino Run, but was remained Buffalo Run after the events in Over A Barrel. The orchard sits just down the main bridle path from Appleloosa’s main street. Despite being the largest apple orchard in Appleoosa’s area, it is still dwarfed by Sweet Apple Acres, which is double the size. Currently the farm is considered a sole proprietorship, owned and primarily ran by Braeburn with the assistance of his little cousin Apple Pie. Buaffalo Run’s borders are mostly irregular, following the natural contours of the hills and dry creek beds. The only straight borders follow along one of the bridal paths out of town and the edge of Appleloosa itself; other than the town itself, Buffalo Run has no immediate neighbors with the other smaller orchards spread sparsely in the area. The orchard itself sites on low rolling hills, the highest of which sits the pride of the orchard, Bloomberg, donated by the relatives from Sweet Apple Acres. The only other major physical feature of the land in the orchard is the wide buffalo path that roughly runs through the center of it; this path is used by the local Buffalo tribe for their ceremonial stampedes, although most of the time it is unused. Crops: -- Apples – this is what some 80% of the land is used for McIntosh Granny Smith Honeycrisp Red Delicious Gala Fuji -- Wheat -- Alfalfa -- Almonds -- Pecans -- Barley -- Sunflowers In addition to the above, there is a smaller more personal garden that holds are variety of vegetables and flowers. It is for personal use though and doesn't produce anything for sale. Tiny Apple Valley (Fillydelphia, Equestria) The Tiny Apple Valley sits just outside of Fillydelphia towards the Southwest end. On the farm there is a small garden of exotic flowers that is maintained by the three sisters who live on the farm. The three sisters are Apple Bumpkin, Caramel Apple, and Apple Cider. As its name states, the farm is not that big, and the focal point for the farm is the massive farm house almost right inside of the farm gate. The three Apple sisters who live her are very fluent in the language of business and trade and as such did a few 'repairs' to the farm house to make it more presentable to customers. Unlike other Apple Family farms, this farm does not have a farm dog. Tiny Apple Valley, like many farms located near highly populated areas, has a very set border. It isn't very wide, but has great depth. To the right of the large farm house is the chicken coop and barn, and to the left is a storage silo and shed. Directly behind the farmhouse is a single utility building where most farm equipment is kept. Behind these buildings, across the width of the farm, lies the relatively small apple orchard as well as the well-organized crops. The orchard is planted on the side of the property behind the chicken coop and barn, with the crops taking up the land behind the silo and tool shed. Directly behind the barn is a garden of exotic flowers, planted and maintained by Bumpkin. Crops grown on Tiny Apple Valley: -Apples (of course) -Hay -Carrots -Zucchini -Corn -Wheat Animals on the farm: -Chickens ______________________________________________________________ This thread will continue to be updated to remain current with the ever changing board canon and RP activity. [Ponyville's Countryside] Mixed Fruits and Veggies (Ended)
Hippo posted a topic in Greater Equestria
http://soundcloud.com/riverhippo/introfarm "I can't believe it took us this long to formally meet our new neighbors, Big Mac. They seems like a fine bunch of farm ponies, don't they Big Mac?" Inside the barn's kitchen, Applejack grabbed several articles of fruit and vegetables including multiple colours of apples, a couple oranges, a maize lemon, a couple stalks of corn, and few heads of cabbage, and two large carrots and put them all into her over sized saddlebag. "I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. It's always nice to meet other families in the farmin' business, isn't it Big Mac?" Applejack continued to prepare herself for a short trek across farms. The Carrot family farm, which was just a few hoofs shy of Sweet Apple Acres' territory, was the location that Applejack and Big Mac were visiting. Despite being the friendliest of ponies, the busyness of the farm, having to rebuild the barn after a few unfortunate shortcomings, having the recent calendar filled with training dates and travel dates for Applejack's rodeo in Canterlot, and spending the next three days after the rodeo running away from her friends and the pinkie promise police, Applejack had no time to visit other ponies' farms. She was already acquainted with most of the farm folk in Ponyville, having done business with them down on the market. But a relatively new family had started a farm practically next door to Sweet Apple Acres and it had taken the apple ponies this long to realize it. Applejack shimmied her saddlebag full of fixin's onto her backside. It was heavy enough to require a belt that strapped together on her belly-side. "Why, I believe that pony I ran into during the running of the leaves was one of them ponies we'll meet today! Carrot Fields, I believe was his name. He was so shy and nervous around me, heh heh." Applejack poked at Big McIntosh as she chuckled. "I bet him and Fluttershy would get along real well, wouldn't they Big Mac?" Applejack winked to her brother before walking slowly out of the barn. "Hey Big Mac, I'm ready to go, are you? Hay, what are you bringing with you anyway?" -
Big Macintosh Name: Well, the names Big Macintosh, but reckon ya'alls can call me Big Mac. Some even use Big Red, but plain ol' 'Mac' works too! Sex: Ah'm pretty sure ah'm a Male, last ah checked! Age: Ah'd be grown 'young' Stallion, Eeeyup, an' still very much at mah best condition, too! Species: A proud earth pony - A real 'Salt of the earth' kinda pony, an' wouldn't change that for anythin'! Pelt Color: Looks to me like a nice apple red...heh, s'pose life jus' kinda has a sense of humor that way, eh? Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Ah'd hazard a guess at A kinda weird brownish blonde...Ah'm no arty pony, though, so s'hard to say. Did you just ask how Ah Style mah mane? Pfft, this is an apple farm - Ah got no time for fancy manestylin's! Ah prefer to jus' go out rough'n'ready in the mornin's, an' it works for me! ... Well, okay...Mah tail *is* trimmed regularly t'keep it outta the way of mah workin' on the farm, but that's it for me! Eye Color: Heh, whaddya know...Gala apple green! Cutie Mark: Well, it's half an apple - but that don't mean I put half-flanked effort in, let me tell ya'all now! Physique: Workin; on the farm can give a stallion quite a workout...Now ah don't like t'toot my own bugle, but Ah'm quite the stocky male - certainly don't think there's many ponies who look quite like ah do, even if that's just my say so! Origin: Well, what'm I gonna say here? Born n'raised on the apple family farm - didn't know much else beyond what the ol' folks wanted from us...sure, ah went to school an' got an edumacation there, but other than that, pop wanted me t'follow in the family ways, way even before applejack was a twinkle in an eye. Ah worked mah rump off alongside pa an' ma an' helped buck apples from the trees, tended to the other crops we plant now an' then, as well as helpin' around wi' anythin' else they wanted me to do at the time - when they finally retired to other pastures new, ah offered up to take over the general maintenance of the farm in their stead alongside Applejack...an' it's been runnin' jus' fine ever since - minus a few l'il hiccups here an' there, o'course! Ponies ask me about mah cutie mark a lot for some reason - well, Ah'll say this much about it:- Ah was brought up as an apple farmers son, on an apple farm, plain an' simple. Ah've Been buckin' apples for jus' about as long as mah hooves could be on the ground an' keep me up, so it wasn't any surprise t'see that on one day when ah was asked to buck a full day on mah own, Ah did it fast an' I did it better than anypony coulda seen comin' for a youngster mah age. Ah get back to the farmhouse, an' on mah rump it turned out that the hallmark of the apple family, an apple-centric cutie mark, had appeared. Eeeyup, it's not big or fancy as a story...but that's how it happened! S'just the tale of a pony who took up the mantle his family had born him into. Heh, Sorry if that ain't excitin' or anythin' for ssome of you ponies, but that's the way life slices the apple sometimes! Roleplay Type: Mane RP, Ah reckon! Occupation: As ah said before, mah role is the general upkeep an' workin's of Apple Acres - anythin' that Applejack doesn't normally take care of, you'll usually see mah rump taking care of. Eeyup, She's a real trooper, that one - but a mite bit stubborn at times! Motivation: Mah motivation, ah guess, is to keep th'farm runnin' right up 'til ah'm old an' grey - the ponies in ponyville buy a lot of our apples, an' it's a major source of both food for them as well as bein' our vital source of bits. As for mah own motivation...well, The thought of the farm bein' left to rot is a notion ah don't like to entertain if it can be helped, so mah personal goal is t'just do everythin' possible t'prevent that from happenin'. As for anythin' else beyond that, Hmm...Ah guess I'll jus' keep mah options open for right now... The future's still a'comin regardless either way, after all! Likes: Well, for a start Ah like books - Jus' cause mah life is on a farm doesn't mean ah don't try an' get cultured. After that, I reckon ah'm a big fan of music, alongside a good healthy dose of applebuckin'...some ponies may see it as hard work, but for me there ain't nothin' more fulfillin' than knowin' ah can buck them apples down hard an' fast! { An' perhaps ah have a bad habit of makin' bad apple-related jokes sometimes - but secretly, ah kinda like doin' it! } Dislikes: Ah don't much care for lazy ponies - it can irk mah nerve when somepony shirks their work...heck, ah've even shooed off that pegasus from Ponyville a few times - ah think her names Rainbow Crash...Oh, wait - Rainbow Dash...from atops a few trees before when she's taken a snooze up there whilst on weather duty. Also, mah sister Applejack can be a l'il hotheaded - ya'all saw what happened a while back when she tried t'take on the whole apple orchard, so ya'all know what she can get like! Bad apples, too - ah'm not fond of when bad apples ruin things...an' you can take that as figuramatively as you want! Character Summary: Ah'm a fairly Stoic Stallion, for the most part - ah let actions tend to speak the loudest for me...sometimes ah guess it's pushed too far, 'cause it was mah overworkin' that led to that whole injury (That's mah story anyway, an' ah stick to that!} Tried t'keep an eye on mah personal pacing after that, but ah jus' don't like t'be inactive for too long...bein' a workin' farm stallion, there's usually somethin' for me to be doin'. 'Course, if there's somethin' for me to say, Ah'll let it be known - ain't no point bottlin' the important things up... Overall, mah life is pretty good - ah keep an eye on Granny Smith as well as l'il apple bloom...an' with lookin' after the pair of 'em alongside Applejack, as well as lookin' after the farm, ah guess mah hooves are pretty full at times. But Ah'll always remember the phrase mah pa' told me as a young colt...an' it helps me keep mah bearings! " When life hands y'apples, make apple juice - Everythin' works out for the best in time if ya work hard at it! "
