  1. Bellezza Vivace had a lot going for her. She was born the daughter of a Roaman Countess and an enterprising adventurer who had once sailed the eastern seas in the name of Roam. She was intensely beautiful-- flowing, gently waved black mane; soft pink coat; large, shimmering blue eyes; a cutie mark shaped like a trio of roses viewed from above;and the figure to make anypony turn their head. She dressed attractively, in dark boots and stockings under short, snug-fitting dresses. Despite her wealth and beauty, however, Bellezza was not a pony who let herself be defined in such terms. She was a kind intelligent mare, who favored to live life fully instead of merely existing as a fixture of some pompous nobility. She was a free spirit, full of zeal who never let anyone tell her how she should live or act. There had naturally been many in her years who had sought to win her heart, but she resisted the thought of being some simple prize. She valued her independence just as she valued everypony, high born or not, who contributed to Equestria's greatness. Yes, Bellezza Vivace had a lot going for her, there was only one small problem. She was not real. She was an invention. Roam was remote from Canterlot; the nobility was not well known.... It was not so hard to invent a countess' daughter if the story was a detailed one that seemed to check out. If one was crafty enough, even a noblepony could be made to exist from nothing. It truly was not so difficult. Not for a queen, at least. Queen Chrysalis was in the middle of some very devious plotting. As a part of said plotting, it was imperative for her to leave her mark on certain ponies of importance. She was not going to risk trying to do so on any princess... but a prince? That seemed a lot more possible. Prince Blueblood was in most ways kind of a nobody in the grand scheme of things, but he had status and name and that was at least worth something. He could be shaped into a useful pawn with enough effort. Chrysalis just needed to do his best to ensnare him. Then she could drain his love and twist his mind until he was powerless to resist her. If she was successful, his wealth and power over ponies could be hers to play with. She did her best to learn what she could of him from hearsay and public profiles and in time shaped her character, Bellezza, Now it was the time to hook him in. For that she had found her way into a high society Canterlot soiree he was set to attend. She spied him through the crowds, and waited for a moment where he seemed to be to himself, away from the hangers on. Then, when she was sure the moment was right, she made her move, sauntering toward him with a smile. "Excuse me, my handsome signor, but are you by chance not enjoying this affair?" Belleza spoke with a subtle Itailian accent, approaching him and acting as one who did not recognize him. "By the distant look on your face, I imagine that were I to place a needle upon the compass rose on that flank of yours, it would point in a direction far away from this place." She gave a congenial giggle then and smiled. "Not that I would blame you for that. It is so very easy to tire of these things. Whether here or back in Roam, it's always the same..." she said in a havey voice. "It is enough to make anypony want to sail away from it all..." This Prince was notoriously fussy, but Chrysalis was determined to get under his skin and make him warm to her. It would, after all, make syphoning away his love only all the more easy a feat...
  2. Celestia's sun had given way to Luna's moon hours ago. Most ponies were in their homes. Asleep after a long day of hard work. Or if the pony was a noble, a lack thereof. However, for the weary traveler Dunder Blust, he had slept on his train ride to Canterlot so there was no point in him going to his friend's house to crash out for the night. Instead, a relaxing trot throughout the beautifully crafted city would be more his speed at the moment. One good thing about having a close friend in Canterlot meant he only had to bring a sword. No saddlebags. And this time he chose a longsword. The night air chilled him to the bone as it whipped through dimly lit streets and between buildings. Over the wind, Dunder could hear his own hooves click-clacking against the road. The city felt so lonely at night, not even a single pony seemed to be out. He knew of at least one part of Canterlot that was bursting with night-life. But this place felt eerily empty despite all the ponies living inside of the buildings he trotted past. Unbeknown to him, the building he was trotting next to was actually bursting with activity. Soon, though, this would make itself apparent to him.
  3. Sweet Surprise sat at the counter in her candy shop looking not her usual hyperactive self. Gone was the bounce in her step and her mane even looked less like the normal poofy style and more like she just failed to do anything with it when rolling out of bed. But it was her amber eyes that were the dead giveaway, once sparkling like butterscotch in the sunlight now having the lights going out. It was bad enough that she felt this way but besides that there were no ponies that entered her store this day. She couldn't blame them as it was dark and rainy and yucky outside the big storefront windows. "I just don't know what's wrong with me today," she said slamming her hoof on the counter and causing the cash register door to pop open with a loud ding of a bell that unfazed her as she reached over lethargically and closed it, "I had a good night's sleep and I had my oat meal with double brown sugar like I normally do along with three cups of super dark hot chocolate, but still I feel... yucky. I couldn't even make my fabulous fudge right today or even a peppermint stick. Maybe because I'm yucky my candy is too. But why? Why am I so yucky?" She turned to see a photograph of Mr. Cocoa, her former boss and a loving second father to her along with Mrs. Cocoa who she didn't see ever but heard wonderful tales from the store owner. now Mr. Cocoa had gone away with his wife and he was not coming back. He did one last gesture though by leaving Sweet Surprise his shop and home, and this was something the mare was excited at. "What's wrong with me Mr. Cocoa?" the mare spoke to the photograph as if it would come to life and respond back, "I just don't know why I'm yucky! I've settled the whole parents thing in my dreams, but this is different. I feel like I'm missing something, but I'm missing what I'm missing! Oh I wish somepony would just enter this door and help cheer me up."
  4. The streets of Canterlot were filled with the every day hustle and bustle that a capital city could provide. It was therefore a perfect place for Raven Duskwing to observe how ponies lived and hopefully make friends in this land foreign to her. She flew past the towering castle dipping lower and lower until the regular buildings seemed to swallow her up around her. She then chose a good place to land, a nice open square. It was a perfect place to meet ponies as the met and parted from the area. "Now, who should i meet first?" she said in her deadpanned tone as she landed, making like she was not interested while clearly she was excited on the inside. She looked around until she spotted a black unicorn mare. It was a random pick choosing this pony among the rainbow of others around her. Now the trick was how to introduce herself. From what she heard griffons were a rare sight in Equestria, perhaps as rare as a pony in Aquellia. She didn't want the pony to see her as menacing so a light touch.Putting on a smile, which still looked like a blank expression, she walked over to the mare, her talons making an odd clicking noise on the cobblestone streets. "Um... hello there?" It was a good start if not for it sounding like a question rather than an introduction. "I'm Raven Duskwing, but I guess you can call me Raven if it makes things easier. What's your name?"

    Breaking In

It was late at night, and yet the engineering pony was wide awake as always. He was upstairs in his lab, hard at work on a great breakthrough after a “successful” journey through the painted pinto desert. His findings in perforance was astronomical, and left him lost in the numbers as he seeks out improvements, and to tackle out problems. The One large circular window inside the lab had it's curtains pulled closed. The window was locked securely in place preventing it from swinging open with the howling wind outside. The entire lab was dark, and only lit by the one small candle that Java had placed next to his notes It was his way of keeping out distractions, and leaving him in a serene yet dark environment, free to let the imagination wonder, and his senses to enhance. And downstairs? There was a single door leading into the house, that normally remained unlock. Java was very particular about never locking this door. Normally, the pony rarely sleeps, and he usually has plenty of interesting clients wonder in, and sometimes friends needing a place to stay for the night. Plus the pony was quite sure that anything worth of value would be incredibly difficult for any pony to steal. And really, only the most desperate ponies would try to steal such things. Java even recalled on several accounts when he had walked into his foyer, to spot a thief trying to pick one of the locks, but failing miserably. And Java would simply shrug and walk on into his kitchen to go grab a snack. And what of the house it's self? The size of the house seemed humble from the outside. And really, it was origionally. Tough humble, now, would not be a proper adjective for the interior... but only the size. If one were to describe his home's main-room with one adjective, it would be unorthodox. Uncanny, would only be a terrible understatement. The flooring had been finished with a white outdoors marble, that had the mortar carefully sealed for what chaos was soon to come. Tearing through the flooring in the center of the room was what appeared to have been a small pond, where it's main source of water had been coming from a stream of water fed through the side of the house by a screened grate. This stream first treckles down a granite construction of black and white speckled of square blocks, that was surrounded by a large variety of evergreen plants in fertile soil just slightly below the layering of tile. The stream then flows into a moat that runs around the room in a squared spiral pattern before it finally meats the pond. Over the top of this moat was a layer of heavy duty glass to keep ponies, and other items from stepping inside the water. Bookshelves were lined around the walls, and were laid out carefully in row in the middle of the floor. The ones in the center of the room surrounding the pond had a much sturdier look behind them. Perhaps this was due to the fact that these bookshelves were also part of an elaborate construction of a loft supporting a large round table and a few large pillows. Connecting to this lofted platform where walkways that ran across the many other bookshelves. A few small shelves hung from the ceiling, and requires one to literally walk across the many other bookshelves. What wasn't intended to be walking space had became patches of more fertile soil, holding more evergreen shrubbery. In some places of the walls, were modified tubing that had origionally been used as plumbing, became interesting methods of decoration. Painted, and reshaped to become a sconces lighting, that also held smaller plants. Decorating the walls were a large variety of imagery and prose. Poems that the pony loved were framed and hung on the walls. Paintings and other forms of artwork were also hunged up, non-from any real famous artist, but the pony adored them anyways. Nerdy posters of comic heroes, and some real classics were also among them. Boxes full of notes and scrolls, reference books, comics, toys, building blocks, and even some odd contraptions littered the bookshelves. Glass doors kept everything protected from it's bizzare surroundings. The only sane construction for a home, would be the stairwell leading up to the second floor, and down to the basement level. The doors leading to the kitchen, and outside. Though the kitchen door was actually located on one of the walkways in the main room.
  6. (The following takes place after the Canterlot Awards Banquet) It was morning in Canterlot as Zecora stepped from the hotel she stayed in, letting out a little yawn. As she stepped out into the street, the Zebra winced in pain a little. It wasn't that the bed she stayed in was bad, just something she wasn't used to sleeping in. In fact the city was a completely new experience for her compared to where she normally lived in the Everfree Forest or even the nearby town of Ponyville. She always wanted to see the capital city but life and perhaps her own nerves kept her from traveling there. If it was not for a series of strange events Zecora probably wouldn't have been here now. The past few weeks were like a whirlwind to the Zebra, going from a near tragedy of a Changeling invasion to being treated like a hero in Canterlot at a lavish banquet. What a strange turn of events for her otherwise simple life! Now she wanted to spend a day or two in Canterlot to see the sights before returning home. "Here I am standing on this street, with places to see and ponies to meet. I guess for the hardest part is finding out where should I start. If only I could meet a pony that lives here today, to help show me the best way."
  7. On a normal day in Canterlot, Clover Park teemed with foals and other ponies needing a place to relax or have fun someplace other than the busy streets. Not one of these ponies ever gave any thought to what lurks beneath the glistening spires of Celestia’s city. Even after Princess Cadence and Twilight Sparkle made their heroic attempt to escape imprisonment and foil the Changeling Queen, no one made any effort to dig deeper into the mysteries of the crystalline underworld. That was, until now..... Two weeks ago in the park, a group of little colts pretending to jump over bottomless pits for fun got scared silly when the statue of ole’ Clover the Clever herself suddenly found itself swallowed up by a real abyss. Nopony got hurt from the collapsing ground thank Celestia, but Clover Park was now left with an unsightly sinkhole... a sinkhole connected to the long-abandoned tunnels of the crystal mines. The reason as to why the mines were abandoned in the first place had never been discovered, but one slick stallion was prepared to unravel the mystery. Within two days of the collapse, a renowned gentlecolt by the name of Dr. Merlot volunteered to not only organize a survey of the so-called Crystal Mines, but to do so without asking for any money from the Canterlot Treasury whatsoever. It appeared as if he would fund the entire effort out of his own charitable pocket. With the help of an ever-eager press, Merlot found himself with a small army of able, unpaid volunteers from Canterlot University to work for academic credits; his usual circle of shovel bum contractors would ensure that those kids didn’t do anything foolish. Plus with additional highly-trained royal guards (the only resources Merlot requested from the city) keeping watch over the site, the khaki unicorn could rest in peace knowing that no cosplaying rat would come around and be a nuisance. However, the excavation required two weeks to set up a sturdy wooden elevator before a safe survey of the Crystal Mines could proceed. While he waited for his contractors to give the green light, Merlot passed the time not only by getting involved in press interviews, but by offering schools across Equestria a fabulous opportunity to tour an actual archaeological and geological excavation. Not only would foals get a chance to get interested in archaeology, but Merlot would get even more publicity for his work! Sitting down in his temporary office within a moderately lavish tent, the good doctor blew bubbles from his pipe as he waited for the first field trip group to arrive; a party from the Crystal Empire if Merlot’s secretary was correct. Merlot grinned; being crystal ponies, they’d unquestionably be astonished by the glittering sights lying beneath Canterlot. Leaning back in his chair, the smug stallion grinned as he imagined how the day would proceed. Those little crystal foals would get to watch the first advance team as it mapped out the tunnels for the excavators and witness archaeological history in the making. This day was set to be perfect... and nothing at all would go wrong.....
  8. Just a few hours ago, Sugar Apple had struggling through what might have been the most stressful day in her entire life. Most of the workforce at the Royal Weather Factory got sick, right on the verge of a vital seasonal deadline. By virtue of being the sole supervisor not infected with the feather flu, it was up to her to look after the entire group of untrained volunteers brought in to resolve the crisis. It was only after a long day on the job when Sugar Apple finally remembered something else; her plans to visit her coltfriend Earth Writer’s home in Canterlot that evening… and she was already a hour overdue! Hesitant to blow Earthy off just this once, the pegasus hastily prepared to fly out of Cloudsdale. There was no time to waste; none for getting her mane brushed, none for making a characteristic batch of frosting-coated apples, and none for whatever else she promised to bring tonight but couldn’t remember. A hour or so of flying to Canterlot later, the mare finally reached her destination in the Old Quarter of that district. She visited the section once before with Earth Writer, although not to his house. Either way, Sugar Apple did not get thrown off too much by the narrow and winding streets that defined this section of Canterlot. As the sun finally went down in the west, the tired, unlively pegasus at last made it to her special somepony’s address. Without any hesitation, Sugar knocked on his door, hoping if nothing else to get the chance to crash on a couch and maybe eat something, anything later… maybe.....
  9. Canterlot University; a place of higher learning and understanding. A proud part of the Equestrian heritage, a pedestal upon which many wise and learned ponies stood, their heads turned to the future, to the beyond, and to anything else that one might turn their head towards to signify that they were full of brains, ingenuity, and themselves. In stark contrast, there was Filly-Rye, who was mostly full of doubt, restlessness, and coffee cakes. Late into the night, the tubby orange student had been alone with her thoughts, her papers and her studies. Later and later into the night, she'd only managed to complete a paltry pair of assignments while further worrying a hole into her desk with her quills. Early, early, early before the morning, she sat alone where she rather didn't belong, at the very top of a hill, head tilted back and eyes agaze at the stars that hung above. It was a clear sort of night to be out - a cold night for June, though the thick-coated farm-unicorn hardly minded such temperatures. But the stars hung about in all their infinite number, glittering with the promise of an endless void. They were beautiful, the stars. She never really stopped to look at them anymore, but they really were quite... beautiful. Her absence was unnerving her roommate, but right now, she didn't really need a roommate. She needed some way of setting her thoughts in order, and for all the candle-light, ink and quills in Equestria, one simply escaped her. So, the somewhat squat mare's silhouette poked out at the top of the hill, the caramel-coloured unicorn with the stubby little horn feeling every bit as lost and distant from herself as the stars were from the earth. What was a student to do?
  10. Watermelon Gush was over the moon excited as she rode on the cart filled to the brim with watermelons and assorted other fruit through the gates of Canterlot, her father Fruit Salad pulling the wagon and her mother Sweet Honeydew walking alongside in case any fruit or worse Watermelon decided to take a tumble off the wagon after an unexpected rut in the road. The adult ponies had for years sold their seasonal harvests in the nearby capital city, finding Garden Gait too small of a place to do so especially considering many ponies worked as farmers there. This time however was going to be special as today Watermelon Gush would be helping sell the various fruits! "Are we almost there?" Watermelon said bouncing up and down on the fruit pile. "Yes we are," her father said smiling, "Are you ready to help sell our crops?" "Yes indeed!" In a short time the stand was set up and Watermelon stood in the front counter, albeit with the aid of a stool, waiting for customers to arrive. Who knows, maybe she would make new friends or even sell fruit to ponies who were famous like the Princesses. The possibilities in the filly's mind were infinite!
  11. It was a wonderful evening, that was soon to turn over into a more exciting night! Java had already planned and scheduled this one day well in advanced for himself. A day of reckoning, partying, and a moment to relax and possibly wake up face first in the dirt in the middle of a forest! A night out with a friend from his days as a young colt when he originally lived in Manehattan. Oh yes! It was quite a distance away, but also a perfect option to not damage a well set and ironed out reputation in canter-lot! While not entirely favorable, and leaving Java known as that crazy pony on the side of the cliff, it was still a reputation he would like to keep with the nobles so no pony would bother him with gangly business opportunities! Nor associate him with his already inherited, but self-loath and detached status of nobility. Though, well before he began his preparations, he had decided to try and bring along a new acquaintance. And though the pony may have broken into his home... and possibly damaged years of hard work. Some renovations he had done with his own two hooves, the pony did prove to be quite a useful acquaintance! Not quite a friend just yet, but an acquaintance! But an acquaintance at such a high level that Java is actually now willing to reach out a hoof of friendship to this... home wrecking pony. In fact, he had even decided to ask the same very pony over, sending a paid train ticket to Canterlot as good courtesy! so he could then proceed to extend an offer to have the pony join Java on his night time shenanigans! After a minor grudge had been settled of course. The pony sat in a large plush pillow, on the lofted platform in the center of his house. A coffee mug was resting on the low rise table next to him. His right hoof was moving around his other fore leg in slow delicate movements. And in doing so, he was wrapping around a white bandage around it, making sure that it was tight, but not tight enough that it completely limited all motion. The very motion was well practiced, and the look he held on his face was the sort one would have when remembering good days from way back. The other hoof had already been completely wrapped and ready. Once he finished, he took the time to look up to admire his own home after the well needed repairs. Bookshelves were scattered around. The ones in the center of the room surrounding the pond had a much sturdier look behind them. Perhaps this was due to the fact that these bookshelves were also part of an elaborate construction of a loft supporting a table and a few large pillows. In some places of the walls, were modified tubing that had originally been used as plumbing, became interesting methods of decoration. The only sane construction for a home, would be the stairwell leading up to the second floor, and down to the basement level. The doors leading to the kitchen, and outside. The pony rolled back on the pillow till he was completely lying on his back and looking out of a window that had given him a clear view of Canterlot's castle. Any-moment now and his company would be arriving. He knew he didn't have to open the door for the pony though. He had literally told the pony to go ahead and let himself in when ever he pleased, as the door was normally unlocked when Java was inside. "Huh.... I wonder if he actually knows how..." he began. His chin hoof raising up to rub at his chin as he begins to contemplate the other ponies ability. "Nah... of course he does... maybe?"
  12. Octavia's house was very large. It was made of white marble that was polished to a shine everyday. The roof was a cloudy grey, and the door to the house was ash black. It looked like a very boring, and average house, but on the inside, that was where things were different. The walls and floor were colored bright colors, such as pink, yellow, orange, and red. There were pictures of friends and family all around, awards that were set up on tables, and several red furniture pieces, such as chairs and a couch, were set up around a fire place that held several pieces of artwork on the mantle. Octavia was adjusting her bow tie and pacing back and forth, waiting for a friend of hers to arrive. She met her in ponyville, and had several different encounters with the mare. She was excited for her to arrived, she couldn't wait to tell her everything that she was going to do, and possibly even invite the mare to come with her on some of her adventures, but now she needed to be patient and wait.
  13. Thanks to the help of her Kin Lady had produced several SEVERAL Barrels of her own, sweet Pink Lady Cider! She had worked hard and was ready to enjoy the fruits of her labour! She opened a small stand situated right between Solstice Heights and Canterlot So many ponies passing this way would get to enjoy a nice, refreshing glass of it! And maybe snack on one of her preserved treats! There were decorative glass jars shaped like apples, filled with her slightly rosy pink jam, slices of fresh cinnamon bread, and even fresh churned butter to go with it! Just a little snack! The sign above her stand was a soft pink and in green letters Pink Lady's Apple Cider! The best in Solstice Heights! Hoping she would draw a big, thirsty crowd, and maybe get as big a line as her Cousin AppleJack did in Ponyville..
  14. It was a cold day in Canterlot! Snow falling thickly, the air was frigid! Ember decided though that today he'd be spreading a little holiday cheer, pulling the wagon out he had borrowed from his dad, it had several several barrels on it, , sitting it up he put out a sign that stood upright, feet in the front and the back Free Hot Cocoa! Was what it read, just in case busy ponies on their way were feeling a chill that penetrated the bones, and froze their very cores! He had a nice stack of foam cups with tight lids, ready to be filled with the hot brew! He himself was perfectly warm, save for his scarf he currently had a glowing aura around his body that was the same golden color as the orange streaks in his hair, it was keeping him perfectly warm, and since it was hard to cast long lasting heat bubbles around others... The hot cocoa would have to work! "Hot cocoa! Free hot cocoa!" He called out, ringing a silver bell loudly "Hot cocoa! Come get a cup of Hearths warming cheer!"
  15. Welcome to Second Chance Fabrics! A beautiful two story store situated on one of Canterlot's busies streets! Inside this shop are several mannequins, shelves, and wracks, filled to bursting with clothes that have been restyled, spruced up, or made fabulous in some other manner! In this shop the owner believes in second chances, not just for ponies, but for clothing and jewelry pieces too! Not only does the store sell a variety of second hand and well loved, one of a kind pieces refurbished art, it also doubles as a mending and repair store! Everything from jewelry, to button holes, hems and stains! If there is a problem Cardamom will fix it! Mind the vampire bat though! Bazil is a bit of a fusspot. The current agenda for today was embroider a tablecloth, very reminiscent of how he got his cutie mark actually! Humming to himself the stallion sat at his work bench, horn glowing gold with magic, the needle with it's indigo colored thread zipping in and out of the black cloth, leaving an outline of a rose in it's wake! After the outline was done, he thought a moment, tilting his head to the side, looking up, tapping his chin with his hoof "Hnnn" One eye squinting ever slightly before both widening, letting out a gaspy "Ah-HAH!" swooshing his head to the left, horn glowing all the more,a bobbin filled with beautiful shimmery amethyst thread floated over. Threading the needle he got to work filling in the pattern he had laid out with color, there was a bell over the entrance of his shop, though perched upon that bell and hanging upside down was a very large vampire bat with bushy white eyebrows, wings wrapped around himself, snoring ever so softly. Heaven knows what would happen the moment someone entered the shop!
  16. The Gala has come and past but there is a lingering glow of it! The elegant mare Fleur has decided to host an after party in the Canterlot Gardens for all the lovely mares and gentlecolts that still wish to done their finery and enjoy the company of others! There is delicious food, wonderful music, and the glorious moon overhead to highlight the evenings finery! (Rules: This thread is about enjoying the afterglow of the gala, or getting to enjoy wearing your finest if you wern't able to attend, please avoid any shenanigins or hijinx and try to follow the mood if you please All fireworks are to be left at the door) Ah the Gala! Fleur had been unable to make it due to commitments! But now she was here and in her very best! Her pink mane pulled into an elegant updo, punctuated with a beautiful silver circlet that looked like fine leaves, in the very center was a tear drop shaped pearl. Her dress was baby blue and it came to the shoulder, her shoulders were covered with a light blue transparent fabric that had tons of glittering jewels scattered on it like dew drops! The waist of the dress resembled a corset, all laced up the back with fine white silk, and the skirt was jet black, with a bustle of transparent dark blue fabric, that also glittered with small white gems, looking like she caught the night sky in her gown. Upon her hooves she wore elegant white sandals that tied up her legs in elegant ribbons. She was currently standing in front of the desert table, humming to herself and using her magic to neatly straighten a flower arrangement.

  18. Memory Lane wiped the sweat from his brow as he and Fancy Pants, his fellow chaperone, walked towards the imposing front gates of Equestria's seat of royal power and prestige: Canterlot Castle, home of the Royal Sisters and the Element of Magic. Behind them, The massive structure, erected from fine white marble and stained glass, stood as an eternal testimony to the peaceful unity and plenty that Equestrians enjoyed- and to the ponies who led them to such a golden age. This castle, beyond its symbolic significance, was also one of the greatest examples of Equestrian architecture still standing today, and a full tour of the magnificent palace was etched upon everypony's bucket list. And here he was: a lowly Prefect walking side-by-side with one of the most well-known socialites in all of Canterlot with a crowd of school-fillies and colts in tow, marching into the front yard of three of Equestria's rulers. The last time the REA allowed a tour as in-depth as what they had managed to arrange, it had ended with the three fillies getting into a scuffle, a multitude of fines, and the near-loss of Equestria to the Spirit of Chaos. Suffice it to say, Lane was not sweating simply because of the time of day. By all Equestria, let this go well! OOC Thread here

    Searching for a Story (Open!)

Sky Write soared across the indigo sky above Canterlot. Normally, this would be something he would do to relax, but this time he was only stressed. He was in one of his little trenches, nothing would come to his mind, no matter how much he tried. And try as he might, no amount of force could make an idea pop into his head. "Why can I never seem to think of something when I need to?" Sky was only stressing himself out. He was in a writing mood but had no ideas, no inspiration for his next great story. "Every other time I can't help but think of a million story prompts. But, of course, the one time I need to, nothing happens!" Sky let out a long sigh. "Maybe I should do something to get my mind off of it." He slowly flew down to the cobblestone walkway beneath him. Examining his surroundings, he saw that he had landed in front of a nice restaurant. "Might as well get something to eat." Sky walked over to an empty table and took a seat, his mind still stuck on being stuck.
  20. In the mood for a RP that brings "Judge Judy" style action to Equestria? Want your character to get into a civil dispute with somepony else or get out of trouble from the law? If so, here is the Ponies' Court: presided over by my very own tough-as-nails Judge Swift Justice! To participate in a courtroom RP (I plan on doing more than 1, BTW), your character needs to be one of the following: Plaintiff - files a complaint against a defendant; needs a reason to file lawsuit. Defendant - accused of either inflicting loss on the defendant or breaking a law. Attorney - represents a plaintiff or defendant of their choosing. Prosecutor - presents a case against a defendant in a criminal trial (doesn't apply to civil cases). Witness - brought in by any of the above parties to back up their argument. To apply to enter a court case RP, sign-up your Canterlot Chronicles original/cast character for any of the positions listed above. Based on who signs up, I'll match characters together either by user request or at my own discretion. After the parties for each case is decided on, I'll then ask the necessary parties, if they choose to, to submit their side's evidence via PM. That will prevent users from using "hidden" evidence to powergame their way to a courtroom victory. I am willing to have my OC preside over criminal cases as long as the subject matter does not exceed PG-13 guidelines. Basically, if you won't find it in an Ace Attorney game (drugs, rape, abuse, ect.), it has no place in the RP series. I hope to see if users are interested in this idea. As of right now, court is now in session! PS: I also ask that users for now try not to ask for anything too complicated like a murder trial, since arranging something like that is going to be very complex at this time. I'll be more open to complicated cases in the future. -------------- CHARACTERS AVAILABLE FOR TRIAL RP: Plaintiffs: Albina Defendants: Kalime Attorneys: Phoenix Down Prosecutors: Witnesses (Eyewitnesses & Experts): Dexter Silverbeak -------------- UPCOMING CASES: Albina vs. Kalime
  21. In the light of the rising moon a lone figure stepped from the barracks of the Royal Equestria Army Lunar Guard division. She was a jet black Pegasus mare with a white mane and tail and purple eyes. The pony was clad in a silvery armor similar with crescent moon crests emblazoned in the metal. Normally she would just head out to assume her duties patrolling the streets of Canterlot at night, but today was special. As Staff Sergeant, Night Watcher made it a priority to work one-on-one with a new pony in the Lunar Guard to see if they were following orders and procedures. She didn't mind this and welcomed the chance to get to know new members who would be serving in the Guard. "I hope this one is on time," Night said looking at the doors to the barracks and then at the city she was to patrol.
  22. Ordinarily, cleaning was the furthest thing from Moondancer’s mind. Being so occupied with being a good college student and being a good friend, the young mare simply neglected to make any effort to clean up anything unless nagged to death about it. Pretty much any residence Moony inhabited for an extended period of time resembled a pigsty more than an actual place to live. Yet here Moondancer was inside a Canterlot warehouse, actually intending to do uncharacteristic spring cleaning for a change. Not too long ago, the moon-flanked mare found herself joining a sort of magic club; a club going by the name of Spellbound. However, the warehouse selected for use as the club’s headquarters proved itself a fixer-upper. That first night Miss Dancer joined, the large room had been nothing more than an old table and some chairs surrounded by a sea of sparseness. Thus, the guild members all agreed to each contribute towards furnishing the warehouse to make it a more... suitable HQ. Moondancer agreed to supply the guild with some decade-old but still useful books about magic that were awfully cheap to buy, a couple of spare brewing stands which Princess Celestia’s School of Gifted Unicorns had long since replaced, and a rusty cauldron to boot! All of the mentioned items, among other things, she lugged on over to Spellbound’s meeting place in a borrowed wagon. Gosh, it sure did strain Moony pulling that wagon though; she had been tempted to take a crash course on come-to-life spells, but learning of how easily they go wrong dissuaded her from committing that sort of mistake. While the white unicorn waited for her neck to cease throbbing from that harness earlier, she waited in the mostly bare warehouse by blissfully laying on her belly and sweetly humming to herself. As today was a weekend, Moondancer also hoped that somepony else from Spellbound could join her today. It would sure beat fixing up the place alone for sure; she’d guess that if nopony showed up within the hour, she’d be driven mad from lack of social contact. And so Miss Dancer kept on humming, leaving the front door wide open in case anyone dropped by.....
  23. Luminous Charge was frustrated. Beyond frustrated, but also considerably happy. Moving his artwork and installing it for an exhibition was always a bizarre combination of joy and unsurpassable stress. His perfectionist streak would have been bad enough if he were a painter and simply had to worry about how to hang a piece, but his work was…difficult. Frustrating. And very, very fragile. The sculptor sighed and soothed the tension building in his forehead with a hoof as the prep worker employed by the gallery opened the final box containing his work, pushing back the wooden lid so the glass pieces were visible. Glass. Why did he have to be so irrevocably fixated on glass? He knew he was working with professionals: the prepatorial staff at the Oakwall Institute of Art were efficient and reliable workers. They had put together countless shows and handled every kind of art that Equestria has seen – his own included. But Lume’s sculptures were like children to him, and he doubted he would ever stop worrying himself sick when he had to move them. Fortunately the unicorn assisting him had a talent for anchoring spells that magically rooted his fragile glass pieces into the earth. She also knew some fortifying spells that would make them resilient to the elements – very useful magic when you worked for an art institute with an outdoor sculpture park! The winged stallion was glad for her assistance. “Alright,” he said quietly to the mare, surveying the work about him with a small frown of concentration, “We managed to get one third of this put up yesterday, and that third was made up of the heaviest pieces. We should be finished later this afternoon or at least early tomorrow.” Shy as usual, the lavender-hued mare simply nodded and blushed while he spoke. He wasn’t quite sure if she was naturally shy or afraid of him (which happened more than he liked, to be sure), but despite his best efforts to be friendly he simply couldn’t get her to speak unless she absolutely needed to. His frown tightening a little, Lume approached their work from the previous day with a critical eye. He had smaller pieces inside, gestural sculptures of the various critters found in the wildlife sanctuary this art show was intended to raise funds for. With the whimsical nature of his glass, the result had been quite fanciful…rabbits which looked as though they were made of wind, multi-coloured koi that materialized from blue water currents, foxes leaping from swirls of fire. They were delicate pieces, but much smaller than this monstrosity. And much easier to install. Before him, however, was perhaps the most ambitious, beloved, and hated piece in his collection, a behemoth composed of many small, individual pieces of different-coloured glass. The stallion had visited the wildlife sanctuary and the park space a few times before constructing his pieces, researching and sketching as much as he could in order to plan his work. The park itself was fenced in by trees rather than walls, and had small, impressive gardens tucked into the nooks and crannies of the wooded perimeter. Lume had decided to place his work in one of those colourful garden spaces. It began with tall, spiralling brown pillars standing among the trees, and from there he had constructed a whimsical garden of twisting green shrubs with ceramic buds and flowers glued on. Each glass shrub that mimicked the living plants they stood among, however, had colourful branches thrown into the mix for a touch of unreality. His fantastical pieces were seeded into the real gardens, creating a space of wonder that merged reality and imagination. And of course, to finish the scene he placed more animals in the same style as his artworks indoors amongst the flora. There were life-sized and larger-than-life rabbits, ferrets, foxes, butterflies, birds, and even a sulking wolf lurking among the trees, barely visible so that unless you took your time and looked closely, you would not see him. When the sunlight struck the glass, each piece would shine and paint the world around them in ethereal light from the coloured glass. Well that’s what it would all look like when it was set up. The trees and shrubs already in place shone prettily enough in the morning sun, but there were long hours ahead before the work really came together. Many pieces were large and dense, so lifting them, setting them into place, and putting spells on them took time and energy. Of course it didn’t help that every so often pieces had to be rearranged the more the full scene came together. It was time to get to work. Lume removed his worsted wool blazer and placed it over an empty crate, then rolled up the sleeves of his white button-up. “Let’s start with the hydrangea,” he said, eyes still fixed on the work already in place. It would be a long day, but he expected more artists to show up soon – the curator had already gone to meet one a few minutes before they had begun to open crates – and once the real atmosphere of prep work started he and the lavender mare (Shimmer Shoe, he had to remember that) would be energized by the usual pre-show excitement.
  24. Duskfall

    The Edge [Open]

Running usually meant constantly moving. It meant keeping sharp and feeling the flow to be able to keep moving fast and safely. For once though, Duskfall's route had a segment where he could relax and take in the view. It's one thing to to sit in a chair and stare out a window from inside a passenger train; lying on top of the train is something else entirely. Duskfall took a deep breath as he took in the view of the rolling hills that slowly transform into the mountain city of Canterlot. The air seemed fresher than before, but perhaps that was because the Equestrians had managed to defeat Chrysalis. Duskfall turned his head away from the scenic view and toward the front of the train. The tunnel into the mountains was coming up, and that meant that Canterlot would be coming up soon. The job would have been very easy, just a package drop. Unfortunately the package was to be delivered to someone living in Canterlot, which had been invaded by his people. On top of that, he was heading straight into the heart of Equestria. Duskfall had no doubt that the Royal Guard would still be on high alert and would paying close attention for intruders, changelings especially. Disguising would be a futile effort. Not that it really mattered to Duskfall: he almost always preferred to roam undisguised. It just feels more. . . free. Train station coming up. Over by the exit, Duskfall saw several guards loitering around the platform. Time for me to get off. Duskfall got up on his hooves and launched himself off the train and onto the smoothing mountain just before the train station. Duskfall took note of a drainage pipe and ran for it, not bothering to see if anypony had noticed him. There wasn't any time for it. He'd been hoping to eventually hire a pegasus, or at least some flight-able creature to assist him. A set of eyes in the air would help him run his routes much more effectively. It'd also help spot where the guards were so he could avoid them. Alone and in the capitol of Equestria, Duskfall would just have to hope he doesn't run into the Royal Guard. He grimaced at where his left wing used to be. "Lots of hope and doubt. . ." he muttered to himself. Duskfall threw his front hooves onto the pipe and began to climb. The rhythmic clinking of his hooves hitting the piping signalling an inch closer to the top.
  25. [sign your life away! Come on, it'll be fun! http://www.canterlot...ake-2-sign-ups/ ] Ah, Canterlot. The bustling capitol of Equestria, home to the beloved princesses Celestia, Luna, and Twilight Sparkle! The streets are filled with happy ponies, some rich, some poor. It almost seems impossible that there could be any place in this city a pony could be miserable, unhappy or defeated. Though there is an exception to every rule and in Canterlot's military district is one very loud, bustling exception. The Royal Equestrian Army Recruit Depot: Canterlot. Sounds of marching and shouting filled the air for quite some distance around this place, violent choruses of 'sir yes sir' and 'jodies' as platoons of starry-eyed young recruits are molded into defenders of Equestria. One such batch of recruits was rounded up from all over Equestria, being brought to the main gate in a large white carriage pulled by guardsponies. Above the gate was a sign that almost mockingly read 'Abandon Hope, Ye Who Enter Here'. A guard checked the carriage to make sure it's passengers were still there... and supposed to be there. But what pony in their right mind would want to sneak IN to Boot Camp? "Keep your noses clean, do as you're told, and you'll do fine. Welcome to Canterlot" the guardspony said in a short address to the recruits before stepping off and waving the carriage in. As the carriage rolled closer and closer to the receiving building, those inside could look around to see what was in store for them. There was an obstacle course where ponies struggled to get over all kinds of silly things. Logs, nets, under briar vines, and all the while an ornery pony in a funny hat shouting at them for moving too slow. Past the carriage came a small group being led by another Drill Instructor, marching. They almost looked like robots. Expressions frozen, all in step and unwavering. In an open field was another group of recruits doing pony push-ups, while another poor recruit was getting a verbal beatdown by not one - not two - but three Drill Instructors. Gives a new definition to the phrase 'surround sound'. At the receiving building at last... The doors of the carriage open, one of the drivers calling back for everypony to get out. Time to go to work!
