  1. Name: Yanhua Sex: Female Age: Appears as a young adult Species: Yokai (Nine-Tailed Fox) Eye Color: Lavender, but is rarely seen. Coat: Off white cream Mane & tail: A lively orange red with streaks of green and some white tips. Usually wears it in a swirling style. Her tail has a bow tied to it with a curious ball attached to it. Physique: Most times takes the appearance of a lithe and sleek looking qilin mare. In her true form she is a fox about the size of an average mare i terms of height, who is seen surrounded by varying amounts of foxfire hitodama and waving nine, long, flame producing tails. Residence: Imperial Palace Occupation: Head Chef Cutie Mark: A frying pan with a hitodama in it. Unique Traits: Hoshi no Tama: As a fox yokai, Yanhua is never seen without a glowing jewel at her side. This orb at least when she is shapeshifted, contains a vast portion of her magical power. If it is separated from her then over time she will lose all of her magical capabilities and appear increasingly ill to the point the point she is no different than a common fox. If someone steals her ball, she will do just about anything to see it returned. Cooking Skill: You don't get to be as old as Yanhua is without learning a thing or two. Her appreciation for the food of Long Guo gave way to a desire to learn how to prepare some herself. Thanks to her long life she has been able to practice fairly often in her downtimes... and apparently cooking with Foxfire makes things taste quite unique. Foxfire: Having been taught from a young age how to use the wispy, magical flames of yokai by her parents, Yanhua is a talented and well disciplined user of this unusual magical flame. While the extent of what she can do with it is known only to herself and perhaps other Yokai around her age, she's been using it primarily to cook food in the imperial palace as it allows her to adjust the temperature of the flames at will and instantaneously. Shapeshifting: While Fox yokai back home are considered natural shapeshifters, Yanhua is not necessarily a master of it. She is able to maintain an equine form for long periods of time so long as it has some resemblance to her actual form. Maintaining the form of another pony, qilin, or longma is a different story as over time certain traits from her natural form will start to peek out if she loses concentration. A decent example of that being her Tails poofing out behind her when she's startled or frightened. Yokai Magic: As a yokai, Yanhua is fully capable in performing all the various forms of magic as other yokai, such as levitation, and illusion magic among other skills. Senses: Possesses an impressive sense of sense of smell, capable of even sniffing out magical signatures. As a fox she also has very sensitive hearing as well as the ability to see in the dark. History: Long ago under a sky full of fireworks, a Fox was born. Her parents named her Hanabi no Mikoto. This young Yokai proved a handful even during her early youth: A troublemaker at her core, but a curious one. Her young days were full of romps with her siblings and the theft of treats from the natives of Neighpon. All throughout her life though she had wondered what it was like to the east, especially after those interesting dragonhorses started showing up more and more often in her family's neck of the woods. In search of new things to occupy her Interest, Hanabi would travel farther to the east along with some other Yokai with motives like herself. Her journey to get there brought her in contact with more than a few other breeds of Yokai on the way until she finally reached the shore of Long Guo. Here she wandered all around the country, getting a feel for it's culture, it's citizens, and most importantly their cuisine! Using her shapeshifting, Hanabi would over time learn the language of the Long and spend more time around some the more promising young chefs of early Long Guo. Eventually though she couldn't occupy her time with only the food of this country, she began to go out and into the countryside. One day during a drought She saw smoke rising from the fields of a village, A wildfire was hardly any good for anyone, so the fox intervened and used some magic in her true form to assist calming the blaze until it died. The Villagers had an... unexpected response to this: She was named their field's guardian spirit. She might have corrected them, but the enticing offer of food, drink, and other nice things compelled her to stay. So she did. For several generations She protected the crops, and was given tribute at a small shrine that still stands in the area. Over time though, the villagers would come less and less. It turned out that they were moving on from the fields and as their land opened up to trade with the larger world, they had begun a lucrative business of Silk trading and production. Once her shrine fell into disrepair, Hanabi figured it was time she left to her next adventure. She still makes the occasional trip to that Shrine to see how it's holding up in her absence. The next part of her life was not the happiest, honestly. One day during a nap, some ambitious lord had managed to steal her Hoshi no Tama. When she woke his demands were that she protect his palace from intruders as long as he ruled it. Facing the prospect of losing her valuable orb, Hanabi agreed to the terms. This Ambitious lord proved a thorn in the side of the empire for a not insubstantial amount of time, mostly due to her protection of his base of operations. Messing with intruder’s sense of direction, bewitching and confusing h them, scaring them off with horrifying images. It was quite a bit of fun, even under these undesirable circumstances. Thankfully her time eventually ended when she was outwitted and freed by some shadowy order during a daring raid on the lord’s palace. She didn’t stick around long enough to face any consequences for her assistance of this lord and paid little mind to the watch and moved on. Now free to roam a slowly changing Long guo, Hanabi simply continued her habits of observing and following famous cooks across the land. One day, she heard such an interesting rumor. The emperor of this kingdom was hosting a remarkable banquet the likes of which had never been seen before. This was far too good to pass up! One of cooks in Long Guo she’d never heard of before was even coming. As luck would have it, the bride of the emperor’s carriage was going to be passing by her neck of the woods too. The fox hatched a devious plot. When the empress came by she caught her attention with some magical conjured lights in a forest of Bamboo. The Empress told her guards that she would be back in a moment and after going past the thick forest’s edge… she returned unharmed if a bit cheery looking. In reality Yanhua had simply magicked the empress away to the house of a lesser known nobleman. It would take at least a day for word to reach the emperor about that, so she hopped on board the carriage and made her way with the guards, all bewitched and bringing her to the dinner. When she got there, the guests and the emperor were a bit put off by her rather… aggressive eating. Hanabi was having the time of her life all throughout despite some of the looks from the guests, but it seemed that one of the dishes was a bit too spicy for her senses to handle. Her guise was dropped and in the dining hall sat a qilin sized fox with nine tails. She was immediately subdued by the emperor’s spiritual advisor of all things! Left bound she told them where she had left the empress and could only watch sadly as the final course of the feast escaped her field of vision. Seeing as the empress was unharmed, any particularly serious punishments were decided against. This slight against the emperor however couldn’t just be let go though, so the advisor and emperor settled on a sealing spell. They brought the bound Yaojing out to a forest far out in the mountains, not far from a small settlement. Through their magic they bound her to this small forest, unable to leave it’s immediate area for the foreseeable future. Days turned to weeks turned to years… Hanabi was left on her lonesome in these woods with her magic weakened and only able to talk and weave minor illusive magics. The only things she found to occupy her time was time mess with the inhabitants of the village who came by… and even then eventually they just stopped coming. Her only contact would often be the monks sent by the advisor to renew the seal on her forest every twenty years… then there was a colt. This little longma went by the name of Feng and he was something of a troublemaker in his village. That was something Hanabi could relate to. Rather than frighten the little colt off she would slowly get to know and converse with him. She learned many things about his life, and even was a sympathetic ear for him on an occasion. She looked forward to every visit, often darting to the forest edge if she even suspected he was approaching. Although soon his visit became more spaced out when he got a mark on his backside. On his last visit he said he had decided to join the ‘imperial watch’ and that this meant he’d have to stop coming by. Hanabi’s pride wouldn’t allow her to admit how sad this made her, instead she just cheered him on and wished him the best of luck! On their last goodbye, The fox was left again on her one. Time passed, and she realized something. She was alone… where was the monk? They should have been here by now. She thought maybe they’d come in and applied the seal again while she was with feng… but the seal had fallen into disrepair and with enough of her magic free to use she escaped her bounds and rejoiced! First thing to do was to find Feng. Well, that wasn’t the first thing to do. The first thing she needed to do was come up with a disguise that wouldn’t take much effort to keep up. She eventually settled on something a bit resonant with how she normally looked. She came up with a qilin form that she could interact with the rest of the village with and asked around if they knew where he might be. The imperial academy was her best bet. She snuck in and saw that Feng had grown quite a bit since she’d last saw him. He was about a teenager now and training to be part of the watch. On one of his trips out of his training camp he attended a festival. At this Festival, Hanabi re-introduced herself… in a way. She actually introduced herself to him as Yanhua (the Long Sun’s word for fireworks). Since then she wound up becoming a close friend to him all over again. In her absence Feng had fallen for none other than a prospective empress. SOmething about this news made her feel a bit… downtrodden, but again she wished him the best, but rather than saying goodbye like last time. She volunteered to help him out in his work in the watch in a small way, She made him lunches! Using her foxfire and accumulated cooking knowledge over the ages she was able to cobble together some delicious meals. When he first tried it he asked if she was a chef in her downtime and in a bout of nervousness she blurted out yes… then immediately began working to make that lie a truth. There was no rule about using magical flames to cook food… and exhaling foxfire like the longma or qilin’s dragonbreath was easy to trick others with. The world of cooking turned out to be a surprisingly cutthroat profession as she learned about it. Recipes needed to be kept secret, sometimes chefs would steal from each other. In the interest of making her word to Feng true, she pushed onwards and soon wound up running the kitchen in the imperial capital of Haungjing Around the time the old palace chef retired, something happened that left Yanhua speechless. The Long sun dynasty approached her and requester her to be the top chef for the palace for the divine empress Yu Yue and Prince Lian Mei. Hoping to get to know the mare that Feng had become so smitten with… she accepted. Up to now this is the story of Yanhua. Personality: Yanhua is a playful, mildly excitable, loyal, a dutiful if occasionally flippant cook. She can sometimes push her luck with certain etiquette being disregarded or encouraging her staff to relax and be flexible so as to prepare dishes quickly and make changes as needed. Those under her care are often treated well so long as they can mind a joke or a prank once in awhile. Among those she takes the most seriously are the empress, the prince, Feng and Qing. While her kind are notorious tricksters across long Guo, Neighpon, and parts of Polyneighsia, even Yanhua has a sense of honor: A major aspect of her personality and nature is an inability to break a promise or attempt to try it. No matter who she owes a debt to, she will work tirelessly to pay it off in any way she possibly can. This even applies to promises made under negative circumstances such as blackmail, in those circumstances she can and will take advantage of the perpetrator’s exact words or vagueness in terms in order to find a way to make it backfire upon them. Thanks to being sealed for as long as she was, Yanhua is practically terrified of the idea of ever being bound again. In order to avoid this fate, she is very skittish and wary around any powerful, knowledgeable sages of the Harmonious path… and is known for avoiding the spiritual advisor anytime he is nearby the kitchen in the palace. Around others, Yanhua is almost always smiling and tends to have her eyes constantly closed. Exceptions are made during times of celebrations and cheer, in which case she will only open one eye slightly. Despite this trait she is apparently able to see things perfectly fine and perform her cooking tasks very well. Nostalgia is a trait that comes to Yanhua easily. On her time off she’s known to often visit some old places such as a village with a booming silk trade that goes on to this day, an old, run down shrine on its outskirts, and the old mountain village where feng grew up… to throw stones at the forest edge. Now that she has been freed from her confinement again she is interested in one day visiting long guo to see if any of the old yokai she knew are still around.
  2. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Akemi Sex: Female Age: Very Old Species: Okami yokai Eye colour: Ice Blue Coat: Varies, though typically some shade of grey or white. Soft, pleasing swirls and shapes of the contrasting color to her base shade often appear and fade at random throughout her coat. Mane/Tail: n/a, not separate from her coat Physique: Roughly the size of a normal pony on regular occasions, Akemi's very form is somewhat amorphous. Long strands of fur flow like mist about her, and she can seemingly alter her size at will (within reasonable limits). Residence: Her ramen shop in Long Kong Occupation:Restaurateur Cutie Mark: None Unique Traits: As a yokai, Akemi is quite magical by the very nature of her being. She has many talents, the most common of which being her ability to alter her shape. This is most often shown by her statue form when presiding over her noodle shop, as she never directly appears to run the operation. The okami can also be invoked at any location simply by speaking her name, though an object in the likeness of a wolf must be present for her to appear. Due to her long life, the yokai has also developed a very keen sense of character, which she calls her "eye of truth." While hardly foolproof, Akemi can often discern whether or not somepony is lying if they are not extremely accomplished at masking their emotions. Finally, one of her most fantastical abilities is one of bending light about herself so as to appear effectively invisible when disguise isn't enough. This only works with an external light source, and becomes more fallible the weaker the light is. In darkness it doesn't work at all, as Akemi herself glows faintly with her inherent magic. History: As Akemi can count her own existence in various pony lifetimes, she doesn't often speak of days long past, preferring to stick with more recent occurrences. She moved to Long Kong from the areas surrounding Neighpon several years ago, having lost faith that the rise of technology would ever account for tradition and the old ways once it gained momentum. The wild and natural places were slowly disappearing, and she became disillusioned. In the spirit of joining what she did not see how to defeat, the restless yokai spent many months roaming the bustling streets of the city. Often this was done invisibly, other times as a statue or flickering lantern. Simply watching, learning. How could ponies, kirin and the like stand to be in such enclosed space? Were they not suffocating? It was a maddening conundrum to the okami. The air was heavy, the nights were loud. Just before the yokai lost hope, however, she met the mare that finally managed to change her stubborn perspective. Akemi happened to witness an elderly pony while sitting passively in her statue form one evening. The granny was headed into a noodle shop with what seemed to be her grandfilly, both lugging bags full to bursting with ingredients. It seemed that she owned the ramen house. Something about the warm joy on the elder pony's face intrigued the yokai, and she hid herself from sight to follow the pair inside. What she saw almost made her drop her invisibility spell in surprise, a rare thing for a creature usually so measured in temperament. It was one of the most traditional, beautiful interiors she had seen in a long time. Most definitely anywhere in Long Kong. Incense smouldered gently, chimes rang throughout, tasteful pots of bamboo were arranged about the restaurant. Everywhere Akemi looked, she was pleased. Enough so that she showed herself to the grandmare and her grandfilly the very next day. Naturally they were surprised that something as elusive as a yokai would introduce itself, but after a short time the two wizened souls were chatting away like old friends. When it became apparent that Akemi was despairing that the traditional ways would disappear, the elderly pony shook her head in disagreement. She responded that while progression and change was inevitable, the things we treasure only stop being relevant when there is no one left to care for them. So long as one person remains, so too does the treasure. The mare suggested that Akemi travel the world, see what it truly held beyond the fringes that the okami had inhabited for so long now. Perhaps she would find more clarity on such a journey. Sensing the wisdom in her friend's words, the yokai agreed to sojourn and return to tell the tale. She left Long Kong and traveled far beyond its borders. Over the years, rumors would spread of a great wolf that would appear, seemingly full of boundless curiosity about each new location. Akemi held true to her word, and even began gathering rare and powerful relics that she came across. Word had it that she even visited Longri-la, the storied refuge of the Serpent Council. Whether or not claims that she has seen the inside of the Dragon's Heart are true, she has yet to reveal to this day. After many summers, Akemi finally returned to the noodle house in Long Kong. She found her friend and her grandfilly still working, still honoring the ways. As promised, the okami regaled them with stories of her many travels. When the wolf finally finished speaking, she received a question in return. Had she found what she was looking for? The yokai thought long about her answer. Yes, she decided. There were still many ancient wonders in the world outside the tiny bubble to which she'd confined herself. Upon relaying this thought, her old companion smiled. It was time they switched places, was her response. Seeing Akemi's confusion, the wrinkly mare laughed and explained. She wasn't getting any younger, and she couldn't run the noodle shop like she used to. She wanted to see the wonders of the world one more time while she still had the chance. As a favor for the wisdom that she had bestowed upon the yokai many years prior, would she mind watching over the ramen house in the pony's stead? There was assurance that the grandfilly knew all the workings and could mostly run it by herself now, but it was always nice to have an elder hoof (or paw) guiding business. So it came to be that Akemi presides over a traditional ramen restaurant in Long Kong, keeping a keen eye on her only employee whilst helping unseen through magic and illusion. She still travels, often leaving the business in her capable ward's hooves during her absences. Rumors of the Sage Wolf still grow, and now those seeking her could always come inside for a warm meal and possible answers to their burning questions. Character Personality: Akemi is quite stoic, and often comes off as august and austere to those who do not know her well. Rarely is she caught off-guard to the point that she'll speak in anything other than a measured cadence, or even appear excited. That said, she is not emotionless, simply tempered by long years of wariness and exploration. She does become a tad more relaxed around those she knows well (though as her employee will tell you, this often doesn't do anything for her strictness). The most enduring of Akemi's monikers is the Sage Wolf, due to her ages-old propensity to dispense sound advice to those who ask it of her. While rarely immediately evident or understood by those who ask, time and again her suggestions have proven fruitful. Even in her current "settled" location within Long Kong, she tends to act as an information broker for her friends who seek counsel at her ramen shop. The yokai often favors company that appreciates the old ways, and individuals who seek knowledge to truly better themselves. Those who tell grand tales are very welcome in her home, especially those who are talented in the delivery of such stories. On the other paw, she does not lightly tolerate thugs and villains, which leaves her diametrically opposed to the Triad and various hooligans that associate with them. Rare is the occasion that a member of that collective has been allowed past her door, though it's not completely unheard of: she does believe in the concepts of yin, yang, and balance between the two. Though she doesn't often talk about herself, Akemi enjoys reading ancient scrolls and listening to the guqin being played. She keeps a rock garden in her spare time, and to the lucky few that are actually invited to her home (not the restaurant itself), they find themselves in a glade of pristine natural beauty. How such a thing exists about a ramen shop in Long Kong is quite the mystery. Character Summary: Akemi is the embodiment of wisdom and tradition accumulated over many, many years of learning. A very well-traveled being, the yokai finds pleasure in upholding the old ways and finding how to fit them into an ever-changing modern world. She houses a collection of very rare and sometimes powerful relics in her mystical glade that she maintains above her noodle shop in Long Kong, and often dispenses advice to those who come seeking it. Somewhat oddly for her kind, Akemi has over time seemingly forgone taking the guise of more common sentient creatures when out and about. She often appears simply as herself, a great wolf striding through the crowds. Her innate powers instill a mild protective glamour, in a way that only perceptive creatures or those actively looking for her will easily see her. Elsewise she is akin to a fleeting thought, drawing no more attention than any other might if one were to look at a crowd of complete strangers. To those she truly wishes to avoid, there is always her invisibility. The Sage Wolf still actively travels to expand her knowledge, that she might pass it on to others. And while she won't actively admit it, she does dote on her employee in mostly unseen ways despite said employee's thoughts otherwise. In the end, Akemi is a caring, old soul who wishes for nothing more than for those she cares about to be at harmony with the world. To that end, she sees herself as a conduit to times nearly forgotten, ever ready to be the window into the past that looks upon the future.
  3. From the album: The Character Corner (Color!)

Wow this took some time, I haven't drawn a wolf in years. Anyhoo, This is my yokai character with her shapeshifting/glamour off. She has a more G rated form that she's gotten by in but I'll link that another time.
  4. Roleplay Type: WoE Name: Nensho Ha Sex: Male Age: older adult (around 43) Species: Yokai (Okami) Eye colour: A white in both forms, though in his true form the colors shift with the changing of his emotions, such as red for anger or rage and yellow for happiness or joy. Coat: Pure white in both forms, aside from the red markings across his wolf form. His markings look like flames, coming up from his paws and underside. He also has some coming in from his nose and traveling down his muzzle, as well as some traveling up his ears. his ears are also orange on the outside, though still white on the inside. Mane/Tail: Being an okami, he doesn't have a mane, really. His tail is what you would expect from a white wolf, aside from the fact it is constantly aflame and the flames move in the same direction of his tail instead of moving upwards like most fire. In his pony form, his mane is rather long, ending on his back and is very spiky. His tail is also very spiky, but much shorter as it only reaches the top of his knees. Both of them are primarily a sky blue in color, with streaks of bright yellow in them. Physique: In both forms, he has an imposing figure, taller than most and boasting an impressive physique that speaks to his strength and speed. Residence: Kyoma Occupation: Private security Cutie Mark: His pony form has a mark of a katana entirely composed of flames. Unique Traits: Keen senses: Due to being an okami, his senses are more acute than most creatures, especially his senses of smell and hearing. Strong magic: He has practiced the use of his okami magics over the years, mainly using fire magics to attack and defend, as well as his shapeshifting to disguise himself. He uses other magic as well, such as levitation, invisibility, and bursts of speed that could be misconstrued for teleportation on a small scale. Fighting Experience: Being a guard dog for the yakuza tended to come with plenty of practice fighting. True to form, he has become proficient fighting with nothing but his natural weapons as well as with a katana. Equipment: He owns a full set of samurai armor that he wears on the job and that he alters with his magic to fit his current form. He also has a katana with him at all times that looks fairly mundane if not for the ruby inlaid in the bottom of the hilt, as well as an almost ethereal scarf of sorts that also accompanies him everywhere. Scarf: His scarf is only ethereal in his true form, where it floats behind him and moves of seemingly its own free will. In his pony form, it looks like any other red scarf, wearing it in some fashion or another no matter the season. History: His history was not exactly a pleasant one. After about five years of memories of living among his kin, he was suddenly snatched up by some pony while out on a walk that had left him momentarily separated from his group of friends. He was scared, as any other his age would be, too afraid to even make a noise. The young wolf ended up being brought before the head of Polohama's Yakuza, who, unbeknownst to the okami, had already met one of his kind and taken her in as his own. Unfortunately, he was not destined for such a life and instead was subjected to rigorous training as they tried to break him and turn him into a loyal guard dog. It worked, somewhat, as he did end up being a guard dog for the Yakuza, mostly standing guard over the boss's family in his disguise that he had learned about a bit before he had been taken. During one of these early days of guarding, they found what he could truly do, having lost his sword in the battle and going in for a punch only to summon a flaming sword in his other hoof and using it to take the attacker by surprise and defeat them. This is what finally got him the name he used to this day. Nensho Ha, the Burning Blade. He started to enjoy being a guard over time, interacting and making friends with the other yakuza members, especially the other okami, Toboe. They would talk mostly, him trying to teach her what little he knew of their ways while they were in private. It wasnt until Toboe sniffed out the threats to the clan that he stepped into the role of enforcer as well, helping her to track them all down and deal with them. He found he enjoyed that work as well, and worked on both fronts to help his friend make the clan better. Also like Toboe, he found himself bored silly by the newfound peace, missing the action that used to be there. As such, he left for Kyoma around the same time as Toboe set up her bars, telling her to seek him out if she ever had need of him. Once gone, he set up his own business and now sells his services to protect things or to do other various tasks such as hunting someone down or attacking a place. Character Personality: He is a very emotional individual, his emotions very easy to see especially when in his true form due to his eyes. He tends to act impulsively, thinking more with his heart than his brain. That being said, he will not leave his post for any reason other than to defend what he was hired to protect. Not to say he won't try to help from afar if something happens nearby, but he'll still stay at his post, dutifully guarding whatever it is. He tends to see the best in others, trying to be nice to everyone he meets. He shows no mercy to enemies, simply destroying them. Character Summary: A friendly Okami that used to be a part of the Yakuza. Now private security, he works for most anyone who pays, mostly just so he can get more excitement into his life.
  5. Name: Toboe Hiretsuna Sex: Female Age: 47 Species: Yokai (Okami) Eye Colour: Gray (in pony form) Yellow in Yokai Form Coat: Dusty brown Physique: In her pony form she is an adult mare of simple but well toned looking build. In her true form she is a large wolf with multiple blue markings over her body, piercing yellow eyes and a ring of hitodama that constantly orbit around her neck. Residence: Owns two bars: One in Polohama and another recently set up one in the city of Long Kong Occupation: head of the Polohama branch of the Yakuza, The Hiretsuna Clan. Currently a Bar owner and as she puts it a glorified babysitter for a troublemaker in Long Kong. Cutie mark: Has no -true- cutie mark, but when in a pony form tends to favor a mark in the appearance of quartet of sake cups and a flask arranged in the shape of a canine's paw. Unique traits: Sense of smell: To be expected of a wolf spirit such as herself, Toboe has an incredible sense of smell. Throughout her life she has used this advantage multiple times to figure sniff our traitors or leaks to the neighponese government and rival groups. It is something of a double edged sword however in that this leaves her very sensitive to certain smells, to the point she requests her underlings and allies wear either minimal cologne or perfume or none at all. Fighting experience: Having been part of the criminal underground in Neighpon for over forty years has left Toboe with plenty of knowledge in regards to fighting, or at least street fighting. Thanks to her time in this environment her reflexes have been well honed enough to protect herself against most threats to her clan or herself. Strength: In terms of raw physical prowess, Toboe is incredibly strong. Certain feats she's been known to be capable of include ripping a street sign out of the ground to intimidate a rival clan encroaching on her territory. In some of scuffles she has been in she has been compared to a one mare wrecking crew. Shapeshifting: Growing up in a house of nothing but Kirin, Ryuma, and ponies, Toboe had to learn on her own how to properly blend in with them... eventually she learned to pass for an equine through her shapeshifting practice, but even then her pony shape is imperfect with some signs of her true nature bleeding through her magic when sick, overly excited, sufficiently drunk, or when in the presence of certain sealing magic. Even then the most telling part of her true self is the eye she hides behind a white eyepatch given to her by her 'father'. For occasions when it’s best the boss not be out and about, she’s also made a more… discreet and easy to blend in. That of a normal wolf as opposed to her ‘natural’ form. In this form she can easily be mistaken for a large dog. Underground connections: Yokai Magic: As a Yokai (particularly an Okami) Toboe is a creature of an impressive magical power with a fairly diverse array of magical skills. Illusion making, telekinesis, invisibility and some teleportation. While she has access to these skills she hasn't developed many of them to their fullest potential, likely due to being separated from her own kind for almost the entirety of her life. History: Toboe's story begins in a cage, or at least that's where she can earliest recall... as back then she was a gift for the head of the Hiretsuna clan in Polohama. Apparently she had been taken by some sly member of the organization in order to gain some favor with the boss. Because of all the racket she had made on the trip there and while even being presented she was called Toboe (Or “Howling”) by the stallion who she would eventually consider her father. Growing up among the family she was brought into was... interesting. She was well taken care of by them even before she could open her eyes. She was fed well, but not to excess and had a good degree of freedom so long as she didn't leave their compound. The condition that limited her freedom didn't sit terribly well with her, but soon she managed to figure out a way to convince the boss to let her go outside by while playing with his children. Over time and constant observation of the equine form she'd been practicing on her own to mimic it and soon enough she became good enough for the boss to give her permission to wander about so long as she didn't got too far from home, stuck close to her siblings... and wore an eyepatch to cover the most visible imperfection in her new shape: her left eye. The Boss' family was... fairly large. Plenty of the foals would take the time to play with her and go out on the town for some fun. Being a powerful family in their territory, Toboe and her brothers and sisters lived a fairly luxurious life: Full of expensive tributes and a mix of respect and caution from the citizens of Polohama. Toboe eventually gained a deep appreciation for the family she became part of and resolved to become someone worthy of the respect and power that they tended to have. Learning more about the history of her family and the greater organization that they were a part of became a priority, along with learning about the entire area of Polohama seeing as she sought to one day claim this whole place as her territory. On one of her little expeditions around the island she eventually came across a young, purple qilin being mugged by a pair of young punks... the markings on them implied that they were in fact part of the Hiretsuna. Most of the clan already knew about who the boss was and more importantly who his offspring were. When Toboe claimed that they were shaking down her friend, all they could do was apologize and leave out of fear that any harm falling upon of the bosses 'daughters' would lead to a very bad future for them. This strange qilin turned out be a young Jian-ya: Leader of the Long Kong Triad's son. This meeting formed a friendship that would last long into their adult lives... and seemed to even open up some cooperation with the Triad and Yakuza. When Toboe came of age (at least in equine terms) she began to become more involved in the affairs of her clan. She was quick to volunteer for jobs, most of them actually being bodyguard assignments at the start. In time she showed further initiative in converting several shop owners who hadn't shown proper respect to the family by paying to operate on their turf: an impressive feat seeing as she didn't have to resort to violence to do it. The few jobs that required a more... aggressive approach were also something Toboe excelled at. One major attempt at taking over a large chunk of the Polohama territory was foiled by her and a large group of enforcers actions. By adulthood she had gained a great deal of respect in the organization and after one last great show of respect to her the boss (in which she discovered multiple leaks in the organization and delivered all of them to him in one night) He named her the new Head of their branch. As the newly crown leader of their branch she took to running the outfit rather naturally. Toboe took the role very seriously but seemed determined to improve relations with the public and the police. At the time to she took over, things were at best workable. After the changes had been made to how money was collected and how police were treated things seemed to become an almost ideal situation. Her underlings are often expected to work with the police in order to assist on any cases that could cause harm to the community so long as the police’s operations do not negatively affect the organization. Certain things that the Hiretsuna have done have improved their standing in the public’s perception, such as keeping parks and certain areas cleans, and other services that have helped keep the peace. Since she has taken her place in the Polohama underground, It has been relatively peaceful and the most she’s had to deal with was routinely going to the streets to meet some of the new, young, and cocky freshly inducted members of the organization… and reminding them just who is the boss of them and how they are expected to conduct themselves. As her leadership had lead to a more uneventful period of time, Toboe had sought some other things to fill her time, on a bet with one of her siblings she wound up taking a bartending class and before she knew it, had a license. She opened up a small bar in Polohama, away from the major areas and in a cozy, out of the way nook of town where she serves drinks to more or less anyone who comes by. For the time being though she has opened up a bar in Long Kong and for reasons she’s only shared with the boss of the Triad, is staying there a year to look after the child of a close friend in order to pay off a personal debt. Personality: As the Boss or ‘Oyabun’ of the Hiretsuna clan, Toboe is a respectable if fierce and occasionally strict leader to most of those in her family. Most who get to see her softer side are usually those who have shown a great degree of loyalty and have moved up to the higher tiers of her organization. This softer side mostly manifests in a love of drink, good food, parties and almost all forms of luxuries. While she loves these things she hasn’t let them consume her and does keep some level of moderation. Most of her pastimes involve attending fights at the dome, karaoke with friends on their few nights of merriment and going down to shop for food. While Toboe has managed to mix in with the normal ponies very well up to this point, at the core of her thought processes are several simple motivations: Protect her territory and family, maintain her quality of life, and deal with anything that would threaten either of the previous desires from being fulfilled. To a lesser extent she has a desire to see others in a more romantic sense but given her position, and her attempts to keep her true nature known only to her inner circle have made meeting other people difficulty and occasionally even risky. Even with the years under her belt in regards to pony based socialization, Toboe is prone to making blunders like sniffing at strangers without thinking, growling when irritated, and sometimes snacking on a bag of treats she keeps stowed away in her bag when she’s overly nervous or stressed. In general Toboe is a calm headed and polite to most in her charge that follow her rules, and will respect the chain of command above her within reason, there are a few things that can easily anger her or annoy her though. The biggest things that serve to grate her nerves are those when people don’t show proper respect to those above them, be it her or someone else. Due to being raised almost entirely by ponies, kirin, and ryuma alone has had given Toboe a very unusual experience. She has learned how to use various forms of magic and has been able to make use of two forms so she can move around the city without being at risk of drawing the attention of Yokai hunters, but she only knows as much about her kind as she reads in books or legends. This has left Toboe desiring answers to questions such as: How long will I live? Am I able to use that swirly fire stuff that floats around me sometimes? If I dated an equine would it give rise to a bad situation? … and other such things. For a while she has wanted to visit Poninawa to get answers but is somewhat worried about what the answers she seeks could be.
  6. From the album: OC Art

Dat preview picture tho... Newest OC, an Okami Yokai by the name of Kamikakushi no Shinrin (who will probably start going by a nickname of some sort once he meets some ponies, but until then, Kamikakushi no Shinrin it is). Ever since the extended canon species thing started, I had the vague notion of apping a Kitsune. The idea died down quick enough, but randomly resurfaced with a vengeance the other day, and had morphed into an idea for an Okami. I like foxes, but wolves even more so, which is how I began a sketch that eventually morphed into this. I also wanted to give him a look that wasn't completely wolf, since Yokai are not really animals, so I ended up drawing some inspiration from the Pokemon Suicune and Okami (the video game) for his design. Also kinda realized late that Kamikakushi no Shinrin's tail colors are eerily reminiscent of Yin's, at least the highlighted sections...BUT by the time I realized, it was too late. Ah well, still happy with the way he turned out!
  7. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Kamikakushi no Shinrin. Literal translation of "The Forest of Spiriting Away". Sex: Male Age: Exact age unknown, presumed very old. Species: Yokai, specifically an Ōkami. Eye color: Solid gold, with no discernible pupils. Coat: Primarily white underbelly and on the legs, with varying shades of blue arching across his back and down his haunches. His coat sports a few golden designs and symbols that frame his face, and his fur often seems to move on its own in an almost ethereal manner, as if a light breeze is playing with it. Of special note are the horns that grow from the top of head, which are separate at the base, but form an intricate web of bone and keratin near the middle and top, somewhat resembling the interweaving branches of a tree. Mane/Tail: Though comprised entirely of fur, Kamikakushi no Shinrin has a section that starts from the top of his head and flows separate from his back, much like a mane might do on a pony. His tail is similar, looking more akin to a pony's tail even though it too is comprised of soft fur, and both are vivid red in color, with the tail slowly morphing in purple and blue hues. Both mane and tail are also in a constant state of movement, rippling like gentle waves thanks to his innate magic. Physique: Kamikakushi no Shinrin stands about a head and a half above the average pony when on all fours, but is about three times as long. He has a lean body but muscled body, and can easily carry two to three ponies on his back should the need arise. Residence: Kamikakushi no Shinrin, a forest situated inland of Neighpon, through which lies the major road between ports leading to Poninawa and the first of the MAGLEV stations heading inland. There are other routes around the forest, but the one leading through it is the fastest. Occupation: N/A as a Yokai. When in pony form, he takes random modeling jobs whenever it suits him. Unique Traits: Extremely swift and agile, Kamikakushi no Shinrin is capable of physical feats no normal wolf could ever hope to accomplish. The Ōkami is much faster than the average pony, and can sustain a medium run for a long period of time. His form allows him to leap and maneuver his body, passing over great chasms or obstacles. Kamikakushi no Shinrin also has exceptional balance, able to climb what looks like sheer rock face while balancing on the tightest of ledges, and is even able to run across tree branches, provided they are sturdy enough. As a Yokai - and most particularly an Ōkami - magic is as inherent to Kamikakushi no Shinrin as is breathing, and he is largely talented in this regard, although he has a few specific tricks that he relies on most often. The Wolf Yokai has the ability to "feel" the land around him, which in turn lets him sense presences, sources of water, and animals in distress. This ability is strongest in his home forest, but becomes increasingly less effective the closer he is to "pony-made" areas, such as large cities or structures. When at full power, this ability has the small side effect of producing grass and sometimes small flowers wherever the Yokai walks. Kamikakushi no Shinrin is a capable shapeshifter in his own right, and he favors an Earth Pony form that vaguely resembles his true Yokai form. He can also summon pure energy in order to defend himself, or attack another, usually as something of a "force push" that can leave a pony reeling. One other ability of note is Kamikakushi no Shinrin's capability to induce a sort of hypnotic effect on those who make direct eye contact with him. Dependent on the other's own strength of will, the Ōkami can essentially hold another hypnotized by his gaze if he can remain concentrated on them - a break in concentration means a swift end to this effect. Kamikakushi no Shinrin has a white gemstone that rests dead center in the intricate bone work of his horns. Whether or not it is a part of his natural shape, or something he himself inset long ago, the Ōkami no longer remembers. It is not capable of being removed to his knowledge, though perhaps a more delicate touch is required aside from his paws and magic. History: Kamikakushi no Shinrin no longer fully remembers how he became the Yokai he is today, but his true origins have never intrigued him. What he does remember is one day, at a time when he was still smaller than the wolves that sometimes traveled through the forest, meeting a young pony far inside his forest. Upon his first sighting of something other than animals, Kamikakushi no Shinrin was at first anxious, then hesitant, and finally, intrigued by the stranger. Eventually, after she had fallen asleep by the lakebed, Kamikakushi no Shinrin gave in to curiosity and went to meet her, dry her tears, and stayed with the young filly the entire night. He was quick to leave the next morning before she had woken up, still apprehensive of this stranger, but despite that, the Wolf Yokai fast learned that he needn't worry. A routine began developing between the two of them. The young filly, although still distraught, quickly figured out that someone, or something, was looking out for her, as she would always find fresh food and water sources as she journeyed through the forest. Wild animals that might have harmed her instead gave wide berth, leaving only the harmless ones to curiously make her acquaintance. The young filly was charmed, as was Kamikakushi no Shinrin, and although the two of them never met face to face, it mattered little to the Yokai, content to simply watch over the stranger that had stumbled into his world. However, even a life of peace inside a pristine forest could not erase the young filly's memories, and after catching her crying one evening, Kamikakushi no Shinrin finally realized he needed to do what should have been done in the first place. After the filly fell asleep, Kamikakushi no Shinrin carried her towards the edge of the forest, right alongside the main road. In the morning, the filly awoke as usual, and after a very confused moment, realized where she was with a happy shout of delight. In no time at all she was running away at full gallop towards the small village in the distance, and from the safety of the canopy, Kamikakushi no Shinrin watched her leave his forest. Life returned to normal, for the most part, even as Kamikakushi no Shinrin became aware of something missing in his life. However, it wasn't until years later, when an elder mare came wandering into his forest, did the Wolf Yokai realize what that missing piece was. With no hesitation at all, Kamikakushi no Shinrin approached the mare, who gave him a blinding smile and immediately thanked him for looking after her when she was young. The two spent a few days together in the forest, with the mare informing him of the events of her life. She laughing told him that villagers had begun calling his previously unnamed forest "Kamikakushi no Shinrin" after her return. Incredulous that a small filly had managed to not just survive for so long in a wild forest, but thrive, the villagers were certain some creature had spirited her away by using magic to force her to become lost in the first place. The Wolf Yokai, despite the connotations, found the story amusing, and as he had long since claimed the area, eventually took the name of the forest for himself. Those few days were some of the happiest of his life, but they were, sadly, only a few days. The elderly mare passed on shortly after, and Kamikakushi no Shinrin buried her deep inside his forest. After that, things were never the same. The mare's brief but powerful company had awoken a longing in Kamikakushi no Shinrin, and he actively began to lead some travelers off the well-worn paths and deeper into his forest, spiriting them away to study and observe at his leisure. He always provided for any ponies he took, and would return them to the edge of the forest in due time - but otherwise, Kamikakushi no Shinrin thought nothing of his activities, justified in his actions with thoughts of learning of life both outside his forest and the ponies that populated the world. Not every traveler met the same fate, but enough did for rumors of the forest to begin circling wildly, giving it a negative reputation. Eventually, the Ōkami Yokai grew knowledgable enough to begin leaving his forest, traveling to other wild areas of Neighpon. Though a few chance meetings with ponies resulted in less than favorable conditions, others still broadened Kamikakushi no Shinrin's understanding of the pony world around him. In time, he became fully integrated into the world around him, adopting the shape of ponies in order to interact more fully with them. A specific shape was noticeable enough for a company in Polohama to actually request his services as a model, an occupation that amused Kamikakushi no Shinrin to no end. His look became so well known that he was ironically given the moniker "Ōkami," thanks to the wolf-like cutie mark the shape had, though he also became notoriously difficult to book, more often than not simply appearing when he cared to yet always able to land a modeling job no matter the place or setting. Nowadays, Kamikakushi no Shinrin has developed two reputations - one as a forest where travelers are spirited away to unknown realms, and another as an elusive model who simply walks into studios whenever he sees fit. The Yokai himself takes no stock in either reputation, but instead simply continues to integrate himself further into the world of ponies, all while keeping a watchful eye on the travelers that pass through his forest. Character Personality: For a being that has lived a life of almost total isolation, Kamikakushi no Shinrin has made well enough for himself. Quiet and thoughtful, the Wolf Yokai has a perchance for simply observing the going-ons around him, taking in the sights and sounds. With his interest in the world around him, the Yokai is extremely inquisitive, always wishing to know what is going on or what a particular object is. He has a particular interest in festivals and areas of large gatherings, and the model named Ōkami can almost always be counted on attending them. However, as Kamikakushi no Shinrin is a Yokai who has set himself master of a wild area, he sometimes appears to be standoffish and aloof. This is not due to any particular desire of the Ōkami to distance himself, but rather a part of his isolated nature as a Yokai - he simply does not "fit" with the modern world at times, and it shows. As he has grown in wisdom and insight through his years, Kamikakushi no Shinrin often acts as a voice of reason to others seeking advice and council. However, as a Yokai, said advice is not always the most helpful. The Ōkami is blunt and realistic, with little understanding for sentimentality. Almost everything boils down to a black and white view for him, the laws of the wild governing him, and he is not averse to simply telling it like it is, or advising others on various courses of action that make sense for an animal but little else for a civilized pony. Despite this, Kamikakushi no Shinrin is a knowledgeable Yokai, gained from several years of studying the behaviors and natures of both passing travelers and the ponies he interacts with face to face - even if he fails to understand some of their quirks. He is naturally inquisitive Yokai as well, who will not hesitate to investigate some strange occurrence or smell or sight. He's gotten into the habit of sticking his snout into random pots around villages and settlements, always curious as to what sort of item or food they might contain. Despite being a generally good-natured sort, Kamikakushi no Shinrin is inherently selfish. Again stemming from his life inside a forest, the Ōkami, like most animals, is predominantly occupied with survival, and it shows in his mannerisms. He holds no regret in spiriting away the random traveler for his own personal benefit - whether it is to simply learn something from them or keep them around a while for his amusement - believing his needs and wishes greater than their own happiness or comfort, and takes of them what he will. So long as he returns them in good health and care, Kamikakushi no Shinrin doesn't see any problem with his actions, as animals take what they need and lose what they cannot defend. It is nature in its most primal sort, and a facet of life that the Ōkami fully embraces. This sense of selfishness has left something wanting in Kamikakushi no Shinrin's life. Unknown even to himself, the Wolf Yokai is a sociable creature who yearns for company, a desire that was awoken inside him after meeting the young filly in his forest. Even as he converses with the random pony he's spirited away from time to time, or the ponies he interacts with while modeling, Kamikakushi no Shinrin doesn't fully understand his reasonings, believing that he only wishes to amuse himself for a while. Having been secluded for so long, Kamikakushi no Shinrin cannot put a name to what it is he seeks, but continues both of his games, filled with a yearning he cannot fully explain. Character Summary: Despite the double life he leads, Kamikakushi no Shinrin is a Yokai who yearns for something even he himself cannot identity. Venturing into the pony world has softened his world view some, though it is too soon to say where his new choices will lead him.

I almost exploded when yokai were added to WoE. I read through (more accurately ran through) the lore and exploded again. I couldn't wait to design some yokai! I initially didn't want to do a kitsune, but the idea came very easily so I decided to go with it. This is just a rough idea for Arata, I wanted to play with the colours (which still look dull to me) and try drawing kitsune-bi, which is why there is simple shading. The kitsune-bi was a pain for me, vectoring shapes like that is tiring. Still, it doesn't look too bad for my first animal. The ball...er...hoshi no tama was a mystery to me. I did a little research to see how it was depicted in art, which is why it just looks like a very light teal ball. I didn't really know how to make a collar that would look "natural" for a spirit, so it's just floating there for now. ...kinda looks like a wolf instead of a fox...his ears are so big though...
  9. Yokai - Spirit of Mystery (Art by community artist Zeig) Yokai are a truly fascinating race. At first glance, one may think them to be an average animal, such as a fox or a cat. Some may even put on an act as such, letting curious tourists and passersby of Poninawa pet the 'darling little animal' only for said travelers to discover shortly after the precious native animal has gone, that their camera is now some how hanging in the tree behind them or that their bits have been scattered across the forest floor. In truth, average would be one of the last words to describe these mysterious and magical creatures. Virtually nothing is known about the Yokai's origins; some scholars believe them to be ancient spirits that have resided in Neighpon – and possibly the whole of the world at one point – long before ponies, others think that the Yokai are the leftovers of a prank caused by Discord that has long since been forgotten. Whatever the case may be, the Yokai aren't telling. What we do know of the Yokai are only what they allow us to know. The enigmatic species never reveals more than they want us to know and in fact will often impede scholars who attempt to delve deeper into them. It's a common belief that this is done as a way of saying that not everything in the world needs to be known and that some mysterious are better left to the imagination and wonder. Though it could be as simple as their mischievous attitudes: toying with us because it's amusing. The Yokai are a clearly magical race, capable of hiding their true forms via shape shifting or glamour, disappearing, and levitating objects at will. Rumors insist that Yokai can be just as powerful as a qilin or unicorn with magic, but any attempts to find proof of this has been met with failure. After all, the Yokai never do what we want them to do unless they want to do so anyway. But common belief dictates that they are indeed just as magical, only not to our faces. Yokai come in several different distinct forms that have been given names by the Neighponese, and judging by the fact that they've not tried to expunge any writing that calls them by these names the Yokai seem to enjoy them. The Bakeneko and Nekomata appear as large house cats with very long tails. The Bakeneko is simply a young Nekomata, the older Nekomata can be distinguished from the younger Yokai by the tip of their tail which has partially split in two. While most Yokai tend to not speak in a language that the general populace can understand (simply because they don't want to), the Bakeneko and Nekomata seem to be the most common ones to speak, or at least mimic, Neighponese. Hebi look like the ghosts of snakes or ones made of mist. Despite their appearance they are completely corporeal...When they want to be that is. As mentioned, little is known about the Yokai, and the Hebi are a prime example of this. For many years Hebi were thought to be a myth even in Poninawa. Some time ago however, during a caribou raid, several dozen Hebi swarmed onto a caribou longboat and stole away with a vast majority of their supplies and equipment while the caribou were unable to even touch the 'ghost' snakes. Inugami and Ha-inu are both dog-like Yokai but are very distinct in disposition and appearance. Inugami are long bodied, flying, dog-like Yokai, not unlike Serpent Dragons with dog-like features. Their heads are often black and are marked by intricate red designs and bright glowing red eyes. Despite their fearsome appearance they're not malicious by any means, but they are more prone to pushing pranks a bit too far, though they usually appear apologetic if things go poorly. Ha-inu appear as dogs with fluffy white wings and are possibly the most helpful Yokai. While still pranksters and tricksters by nature, there have been several stories of foals riding home on the back of a Ha-inu after having gotten lost in the forests. Kamaitachi, which are musteline Yokai, are often thought of as the ninjas of the Yokai world. Not only due to their stealthy nature, but also the fact that some literally emulate the arts of ninjas with small knives and scythes and the like, though they never seem to harm anyone. Kamaitachi are often seen in groups of three and are easily one of the strongest argument for Yokai having more magic than we might realize as there have been several reports of Poninawa citizens seeing Kamaitachi casting wind magics. Kitsune are quite likely the most well known among the Yokai. These multi-tailed fox-like Yokai are often seen sporting five, seven, or nine tails although some may have more or less. While the Kamaitachi are a strong source of evidence that the Yokai secretly have strong magic, the Kitsune would all but confirm it if we could find solid proof. At the very least it's obvious that these keen eyed tricksters are master shapeshifters and cunning masters of sleight of paw. Unique to Kitsune are two interesting things, the first is their Kitsune-bi, or fox-fire, wisps of magic fire akin to will o' the wisps that they can summon at will. While other Yokai have shown this ability, Kitsune are the most common practitioners. The second is a small ball worn around a collar on their neck. Rumour has it that this ball, often adorned with a little star on it, contains the life force of the Kitsune and that if someone holds it they can control them. Whether this is true or not is unknown, but when stolen a Kitsune will often go to any means to get it back. Mujina, badger like Yokai, are another of the great shapeshifters of the Yokai. Much like the Hebi, little is known about the Mujina as often times you don't know you're faced with one until they decide to drop their illusion years later and run off to likely prank another unsuspecting soul. Some say that Mujina are able to disguise themselves as other Yokai and even cast mild hypnosis. Ōkami are wolf like Yokai with thick, luxurious fur that is oft times long and billows gently even without a breeze, giving them a beautiful and majestic appearance. Ōkami are possibly the rarest Yokai, perhaps due in part to their pelts being sought out by poachers in years long past. Though if their numbers have dwindled or they have simply become more reclusive is, as with many things about the Yokai, unknown. Ōkami are also said to be the strongest of Yokai and stories often speak of them defending those in need when lost in the woods or mountains. Nowadays it's seen as a blessing to see an Ōkami even for a brief glimpse. Tanuki are another of the more well known Yokai, chubby raccoon like Yokai often wearing straw hats or leaves on their foreheads and carrying bottles of sake, Tanuki are often called lovably hedonistic. Their love for food, drink, and companionship is well known across Neighpon. While they too are masters of shapeshifting, just like the Kitsune and Mujina, they're exceptionally good at turning themselves into inanimate objects, such as tea-kettles. Another trick they're infamous for is disguising plain, useless leaves as money and giving it to the unaware, only for it to turn back to leaves as they go to use it. Due to their reputation as cheerful and benevolent rogues, many shops in Poninawa and beyond may have statues of these little guys sitting in their storefront. Be careful though, you never know when one may be the real deal in disguise. Jorōgumo are the Spider Yokai. While thoughts of a spider ranging in size from that of a small dog to a pony would probably scare the colour out of most travelers, the Jorōgumo are not nearly as frightening as actual spiders. Their faces, while still having eight eyes, are slender and almost tiger like in nature, and their orange and black colouration adds to this. While the Yokai as a whole are not remotely a malevolent race, some stories have told of Jorōgumo siding with the wicked for long periods of time, causing their own brand of strife, if only to later betray the evil they were 'sided' with. A long web of deceit, one might say. All in all, this race of strange and wonderful creatures is a great representation of our world. That no matter how long we live or how much we study, never will we know everything, nor should we. Without that sense of mystery and wonder to drive us to learn more, we would grow complacent and never journey beyond the horizon. And bare in mind, these listed here only represent a few of the kinds of Yokai out there! Don't be surprised if you happen to run into something unexpected...or do, they like it that way after all! ~Compendium of Curious Creatures Ashley 'Ash' Ravencrest
