  1. The North Market of Canterlot was an ancient holdover of a time before the elites of the city had fully appropriated the haute couture of Prance. Before the streets were lined with boutiques and cafes, the commerce of Equestria's capital had primarily taken place in places like this, a covered bazaar where stalls could be set up, rain or shine, for the ponies to conduct the trade that was the lifeblood of civic existence. Such activity had long since migrated outward and away from the great markets, the old edifices of brick and stone eventually being sold off for hotels or taxi hubs. The North Market, or the building that had once housed it, had recently come back under to crown's control, after a defunct hotelier had defaulted on his taxes. Blueblood, on hearing of this, made the suggestion of restoring the market's original function. It would fill a gap in the urban planning; serving as a venue for entrepreneurial merchants who were facing a huge real estate price barrier to setting up shop in Canterlot. It would be a vibrant fusion of the glorious past and exciting future... with the enormous crest of House Platinum on the front doors. Couldn't let posterity be ignorant of who had salvaged their inheritance, now, could he? And now was the grand opening. The ceremony had been relatively short, with most ponies wanting to get in and take a look. The floor hadn't been filled out fully, with most of the space being taken up by food vendors. Some very good food vendors, in fact; the wafting aromas of deliciousness had factored in quite heavily to the decision to shorten the ceremony. And now ponies, mostly non-aristocratic ponies, were browsing wares and munching treats that they could actually afford, in an environment where the cheapness did not imply vulgarity. The Prince honestly felt it as one of his triumphs, as he strolled like a potentate through the indoor bazaar. Here and there, one could spot a high-class visitor, the curious or historically minded. And maybe a few foreigners as well...
  2. Blueblood wasn't sure when it had all come to a head. Heck, he wasn't sure wasn't sure when exactly it started. Faust, he couldn't even tell you what "it" really was. All he knew was that his life had taken a dramatic shift from it's normal course a few years ago, and he was floundering. If he took the rather sudden reappearing of Auntie Luna as the beginning, he'd had to deal with public-dressing downs, invasions of his home city and country while he was at ground zero, sudden magical accidents that 'cursed' him with the ability to switch genders... it was all beginning to pile up. Not that all the changes in his life were bad; he had an actual marefriend now, along with several other new friends who had helped him through quite a lot of these stressful events. However, he'd never really sat down and unpacked everything that he'd been bottling up inside for a while, to sort it out. All his life he'd had it drilled into his head that royalty maintained a calm reserve, so as not to show weakness in front of the common pony. It was not a maxim he was always able to keep, especially when in the grip of panic, but it still was a hindering habit, hard to break. But, no more. The nightmares had been coming on again, he felt his patience with other ponies wearing thin, and to top it all off, he had to spend an extra 15 minutes every day deciding whether he'd face the world as a mare or a stallion that day! Clearly, he needed help, and fortunately, help was coming, in the form of the mare who, coincidentally, was responsible for his fluid gender situation. Twilight Sparkle was coming to visit, ostensibly for a final observation of the magic that was now bound to him and a demonstration of his (or her) new abilities. The Prince knew, however, that she fancied herself something of a psychiatrist. Along with pretty much every -ist that existed, or at least those that could put their trade secrets in a book. He looked up at the clock in his manor hall, the pendulum ticking starting to get on his nerves. A lot of things were lately; sheesh. He needed help, somepony to talk to, to help him sort it all out, and hopefully one who wouldn't make it worse by pushing quack suggestions...

    Ooookaaaamiii! (Shine)

    From the album: MLP Characters

Been having a lot of fun with these Okami drawings again, but I wasn't sure what character to draw next. I do have two other dragon ponies to draw, but neither of them are prominent enough for me to really have a desire to Okami-fy them. So, I wafted a bit, until I got a request to see Prince Blueblood from the show in this style. I thusly present to you said Prince, in all his magnificent, rose-tinted, sparkling visage, with the rose petals dancing in the wind behind him. Such sparkle, much wow. This was actually a really easy one to do, I sketched and finished it in like...an hour? Maybe not even an hour. It's always a chore trying to keep the overall look and "feel" of a hair style when it's billowing and waving in the wind, but I think I managed a pretty good job in this one! Bluebelle

    From the album: MLP Characters

PrinceBlueblood is one of those guys that consistently shows support for my artwork, liking and commenting on pretty much everything I upload. And since I was in the mood to try and practice my CGing skills, I decided to attempt and draw the one canon character he RPs that I know fairly well, because he's all over the forums. In a good way~ Prince Blueblood, also known as Bluebelle while in female form, was pretty fun to draw, though credit to his genderbent design comes from this picture, which I think is a rather elegant look. Either way, it was good practice, because I normally don't attempt this style of art very often. I still have trouble trying to solidify 'lines' to make the entire piece look more solid and less airy and smudged. Still, the end result was pretty darn good if I do say so myself, especially for an art style I only try once in a blue moon. Blueblood (c) Hasbro
  5. The summer air hung thickly about the crypt, in a haze of grey and dirty green, thick enough to stifle all screams. For three weeks the weather had stayed like this, as if the sky were trying to smother the earth in its bed; for three weeks the night had brought no relief, as if the moon could hold by reflection all the cruel heat of the sun. And for three weeks, Prince Blueblood had become more and more certain that he was going mad. He had taken this trip to his country house, partly out of a desire to be quit of Canterlot and its attendant cares, partly to recuperate from his first visit to Whitescar, and partly to decide what he was going to do about the great rotting heap of wood and masonry. Now, it seemed, the more relevant question was what the house would do about him. He’d arrived, expecting the normal gothic trappings of aristocratic decay; drafty windows, howling breezes, moonlight illusions of ghosts. But from the first, he could not help but feel the presence of some more subtle malevolence. He had at first attributed it to the weather, and tried to put it out of his mind. But for the past 20 nights, he had not woken up in the same place he had fallen asleep in. At first it was the wrong side of the bed, then it was the floor, then it was a different room, and now he was waking up right underneath a headstone with his name on it. The Prince let out a gasp, and then a groan. His whole body hurt, not just with the stiffness of sleeping upon the earth, but as if he had been locked in some desperate struggle all last night. He’d come in with a retinue of servants; none of whom had seen what happened to him all those nights. Some had even had similar incidents happen to them, and not a few had fled afterward, fearing some dark magic. After assuring himself that this was not his own grave, but that of one of his ancestors, Blueblood shook himself awake. “This can’t go on. Either I’m going crazy or…. Something really is happening.” With a stilted, painful gait, he wandered back into the house in search of someone he could get to call a bath. He needed to clean up… and then he was going to write some letters. *There’s got to be somepony who knows about this stuff. I’ll have my secretary to get a name of some expert in… whatever this stuff is. Supernatural, paranormal? Bloody weird, I call it. And… best see if I can’t get a few other ponies, solid sorts, to counterbalance whatever lunatic I’m recommended.* That resolution made, he began writing down a brief account of the incidents that had afflicted him since arriving. Beside the odd bouts of sleepwalking, there had been strange, five-minute blackouts experienced by… pretty much everypony that stayed a while in this house. Sudden feelings of chill and clamminess despite the heat, and the dreams! Dreams of drowning, and being trapped in a burning building, the flames spreading like water leaking into a ship, determined to drag the whole down into an unmarked tomb- He blinked. His hoof was wet, ink pooling about a stilled quill pen and an upset pot. The puddle spilled across the stationary, but it had not spread randomly. Staring back at the prince was a fanged, grinning skull, too symmetrical to be coincidental. He made to scream, but there was too great a tightness in his throat. His lungs burned under the blockage, before bursting out in a series of gasps. With dislodged heart still pounding in his skull, Blueblood sealed the letters and gathered the remains of his retinue. He didn’t care what it cost to put them all up, he was sleeping in a hotel tonight! ~***~ The hotel had at first offered relief, but as Blueblood waited for replies to his inquiries, he felt something like the same atmosphere seep in. This was the closest town to his country house, and had once been economically dependent upon it. As it was, it had languished slightly, leaving few visitors or reasons for them to come. Now, as he waited in the hotel lobby, there were none other than himself and the few who stayed with him. He left a mostly full cup of coffee untouched, the stifling air made hot drinks unpalatable...

    Team Nesting Station

    From the album: MLP Characters

Thanks to a little suggestion from PrinceBlueblood (the RPer, not the pony), I found another scene to doodle from the Animal Team in the Winter Wrap-Up event thread, featuring Prince Blueblood (the pony, not the RPer) and Rarity being pelted with stray bits of snow and nesting material as Snapshot crashes into the table. Blueblood at least seems to be handling himself with grace...or at least resignation. Blueblood and Rarity (c) Hasbro Snapshot (c) Ciraxis

    "Hello, New Best Friend."

    From the album: OC Art

Felt like fiddling around with animation today, so out came this little doodle. Click on the picture and scroll a bit to see the animation! For those of you that don't know, my eastern dragon Yuri is just a little bit fascinated with ponykind. She and another dragon are currently traversing Equestria in hopes to meet several different kinds of ponies, and their first run in is none other than Prince Blueblood. For having to deal with two strange dragons essentially barreling their way into his home (including one that has a very poor concept of personal space), he's being a pretty good sport about it. (Also no, I didn't forget about his horn. It's there...somewhere). Prince Blueblood © Hasbro
  8. Many speculations had circulated the rumor mills of Canterlot on just what the blood relationship was between the Royal House of Blueblood, and the two sisters who comprised the Diarchy. In truth, the relationship was for the most part an honorary one, which was only sporadically acknowledged by the various heads of the aforementioned House down the centuries. The current scion called both of them Auntie. Granted, the familial title was adopted after the Prince had lost both his parents, and with them all his living relatives. The Princesses were the only ponies he felt close enough to to call family, though whether all of them reciprocated the feeling was another matter. Celestia did, at least, and Luna seemed willing to accept the idea of having a nephew. Cadence and Twilight Sparkle had shown rather less alacrity in calling him 'cousin' though. *Alright, yes, I've been something of a nuisance in the past, but... well, I'm pretty sure they do care for me, and in any case, they have a right to know.* The alabaster unicorn thought as the invitation envelopes were sealed and placed in the 'out' mailbox. It had been a while since he'd had an aunt to tea, and this was the first time both would be appearing at once; the differing diurnal rhythms of the Royal Sisters meant that only very special occasions would see them both awake and active at the same event. Such as, for example, Equestria getting a fifth Princess...
  9. The trouble began, as it usually did, from actions taken from the highest of motives and the best of intentions. After all, it wasn't as if Prince Blueblood was looking primarily after his own welfare, no! He was now the head of Equestria's newest and best-capitalized NGE dedicated to promoting peace across the world, IMAGINE! He had work, actual important work to do, gathering donations, heading meetings, and organizing their first big expedition and project in Whitsecar! "Cakh...HACK...snrtch...*whimper*...." All of which were just plain impossible to do when every orfice in his aching head was leaking mucus while his lungs were making a valiant attempt to escape the general misery of the rest of body. The Prince was holed up in a corner room in his Canterlot manor house, where the maids, taking advantage of his momentary complete debilitation, had forcibly placed him under quarantine. The only visitor he got was the one servant on rotation who brought clear soup, orange juice, and fresh handkerchiefs, while removing the pile of used and disintegrating ones. *This can't go on... I have a staff meeting next week, and the expedition to Whitescar is scheduled soon after! I can't miss it, everyone will say I flaked out and let everypony else do the hard work; I'm trying to improve my reputation, darn it! Auntie won't be pleased, either, and... really, I have to something; I've gone through too much to just let it all alone.* Thus it was, in the long dark hours between soup-doses, he drafted an urgent note to his Royal "Cousin," Twilight Sparkle. Honestly, in his flu-addled consciousness, he could hardly remember what it was he actually dictated through the keyhole to his secretary outside. Something about a 'medical emergency' and 'any means necessary,' he was certain about those parts. As for how incredibly dangerous it was to send that sort of note to the most powerful magic-user in Equestria... well, everyone on the staff figured it was best to not tell him. Worry was, after all, bad for one's health...
  10. The world was a large place with many sorts of ponies in it, and many tribes and nations who were not, in fact, ponies at all. Living so far apart as they did, only the most well-traveled had anything more than a vague idea of what they were really like. The problem was that if most living in the world were left strangers to each other, ignorance could breed all sorts of fantastic rumors, and worse! Thus was the World Friendship Exposition founded! Held in Manehattan for its inauguration, the various pavilions and exhibits had taken over the Central Park, spreading all the shining jewels of culture the world had to offer! The great hope was that ordinary ponies could come and see horses, zebras, and even more exotic creatures that previously had just been words associated with map labels, and draw everypony together in a greater global harmony! As Equestria was the leading force and sponsor for this event, of course it too would have an exhibit. And for the great task of organizing and running the exhibit that would bind the event together, and show the best Equestria had to offer to any foreign visitors, Princess Celestia had chosen…. OK, maybe not the best. Still, to be fair to the fellow, he knew perfectly well how most ponies thought of him, and had lately been trying to rehabilitate his reputation, however clumsily. So, his Auntie had decided to give an opportunity to show his sincerity, and test his resolve, by sponsoring and running a major event. It didn’t take longer than five minutes for him to realize just how far out of his depth he was. “Look, I know you have better music to show to the world. Beethooven was from Germaney, for Faust’s Sake!” “Ve can play Beethooven on an oompah band!” Thing was, the Equestrian Exhibit was actually a lot of mini-exhibits, to show off the pluralistic culture within its borders. You could see most of what Equestria was like in the city outside the grounds, but the more far-flung districts, such as Germaney, Prance, and Itaily had their own booths. Well, booths wasn’t quite an accurate way of putting it. The Prance exhibit consisted of a specially-constructed façade of a café, exterior tables for visitors to sit at and sample the culinary greatness the region was known for, and whose smells surrounded the area in a haze of deliciousness. The ‘interior’ of the café had a display of the art of the region, including a section dedicated to the new ‘moving pictures’ industry of Calnais. Young foals could, if they liked, stage and shoot a scene with professional directors and camera ponies standing by. That was all well and good, but right now Blueblood was concerned with the Germain exhibit, which was of… rougher construction. Somepony had the bright idea of trying to replicate the wooded landscape, and so the exhibit was surrounding a gazebo in the midst of a clump of trees. While sight and smell was the sensory key to the Prench exhibit, Germaney was focusing on the touch of cool forest air, and the sound of music. The Prince was a fan of the musical traditions of the place, but not when they pandered to the tastes of the vulgar and stereotyped. Still, he couldn’t very well fit an entire orchestra into a gazebo, so oompah it was. The resonances of tubas opening the 5th Symphony followed the unicorn prince as he trotted out, seeing the weather pegasi finish their last cloud-wrangling, and begin to open the gates. Wait, opening time already? He’d lost track of time! Hurriedly, Blueblood ran to the front of the Grand Pavilion, pausing only to put his mane back into impeccable order and give his white coat a brush-over. There, fit to meet guests! Hopefully, things would go well. He hadn’t time to inspect everything, but surely no disaster would mar this grand exhibition; there wasn’t any place in his schedule for one!
  11. Oh Java loved the outcome of this little bet that he and the prince had in the past. He had actually expected the prince to not even show up to the train station back in Canterlot. But something drove him to it anyways. And much to his disbelief there he saw the high and mighty prince. Through the entire trip, Java had been giggling madly to himself. He hadn’t thought he’d live to see the day when the mighty Prince Blueblood was brought down to the “boondocks” of equestrian lands for menial labor. Sure the stallion may have lost two of the bets before finally the last one. But in all honesty. The first one wasn’t too bad. The stallion had always meant to re-establish connections with his noble family. It’s just the life of high-society normally drove him away. However, the second bet he loss, was more of a kick in the teeth. To be forced to have a high society party, was something that invoked a seething rage in the stallion. But still, neither one of those would prevent him from enjoying this moment now. The stallion did his best to try and speak to the young prince. Originally intending all the nicest of intentions. But the prince seems to be rejecting any attempts of contact for the ride. So, he simply reduced himself to making the slightest of cracks. His timing for each one intentionally being as precise as possible. Just to gently remind him that he would be working in the heat, the grit, and in the open for a full twelve hours. Just as soon as he forgets that fact. And when the two had departed the train station. Java allowed the peace to stay. Leaving silence unbroken as he and the prince slowly strolled on to legendary farm of Ponyvile. There were plenty of other farms, and much harder working ones than this one. But, Java isn’t to cruel of a pony. The stallion actually labels the Royal Pain just slightly under the term of friend. Even if the other doesn’t generally see it, or wants it for that matter. Java had actually grown a fondness for the prince, and does care enough for his reputation and dignity, and perhaps a lower chance of injury for being out of shape. If that was even possible. So what better way for the Prince to keep his reputation than working on one of the mostly highly regarded farms? Not to mention, with nightmare night being just around the corner, this would likely be seen as the prince simply making an appearance, and supporting his community. Plus, he would be able to keep his dignity by not being worked completely to the bone and to the point of tears at a colorless rock farm? Java finally broke the silence when the two arrived at their destination. He looked to the prince with a grin. The stallion was a little curious if the Prince had thought more about why he was here with him. His tone was a lilting mock. A playful mock. Not intent on any malice, but simply to tease the other. “Oh come on grumpy. Look at the bright side! You’d be able to get one heck of a workout, loose a bit of weight, and get some fresh air away from those perfumes~." Java paused as he lifted his head up to inhale deeply. The fresh air of the country side quickly filled his nostrils, and caused the stallion to shudder with a small hint of delight. He always enjoyed the smell away from cities. Clean air. Much more floral. It kind of reminded him of the days he'd go to Dodge Station for a family reunion. Though without the flowery smell. It was dusty, had quite a large amount of work when he decided to help around the ranches, and tended to get a bit rough during dinner time, but it was one of his happier times when he was a foal. Yep! Nothing like the smell of grit.”
  12. Roleplay Type: Canterlot Chronicles Name: Prince Blueblood Sex: Male Age: Stallion Species: Unicorn Eye colour: A light and limpid blue Coat: Milk-white, maintained in a pristine condition with great effort Mane/Tail: His mane and tail are of a golden flax hue, worn rather long for a stallion, and carefully brushed every morning. Physique: Surprisingly full-bodied and fit, given his position. But again, one must make effort to keep up appearances. Residence: Canterlot, naturally, is his home. He has a room in the Royal Palace as well as his own house in the city, though he generally rents out the latter. Occupation: Much of his income comes from various real estate rents and investments, but most of his time is spent as a “prince of society.” That is, as a mostly ornamental figure gracing soirees, theater debuts, state dinners, concerts, etc. Lately, however, this routine has begun to be interrupted by a most inconvenient series of adventures... Cutie Mark: An eight-sided compass rose, symbolizing his connection to and knowledge of the winds, both of the sea, and of society. Much of his young life, when not spent at some kind of school or tutor, involved being dragged out to every kind of social gathering, where he was expected to play the role of “the little prince,” rather to the annoyance of the young colt. Boating was one of the few hobbies he could unselfconsciously enjoy, in no small part because of its solitude. The Bluebloods naturally owned a yacht, and the young Prince took instruction in sailing as soon as he possibly could. The winds of the sea, being mostly out of the control of the pegasi, took no small amount of skill and talent to read and use, and the Prince took to it with an eagerness that he did not show towards any other subject of study. In truth, he had been planning to sail away from home, and not come back to the whole society life. His escape, however, was ill-planned and soon foiled. As he was paraded afterward around yet another soiree, a curious realization began to dawn upon him. For the first time, he looked at the movement of the ponies throughout the garden, and saw a pattern in it. They were dragged to and fro in waves, guided in currents directed by the ponies at the top of the social heap. As the party went on, the drifts changed as certain ponies made fools of themselves, or came off brilliantly in wit, as if invisible winds were changing. When he saw the connection between what he enjoyed, and what he had to endure, and that he could apply skills in sea navigation to those in social navigation, that was when his cutie mark appeared. History: The prince was born into the oldest and highest of the Canterlot Unicorn families, who traced their lineage fifty-four generations back to Princess Platinum herself, hence the royal honorific. While the official and legal position of the family diminished with the ascension and reign of Celestia and Luna, it has vigorously maintained its position at the top of the social scene and hierarchy in Canterlot. Hence, the old rhyme: Here’s to Jolly Old Canterlot, Land of white marble and tresses. Where nobles talk only to blue bloods, And Bluebloods to only Princesses. All told, a pretty accurate assessment of the company young Prince Blueblood was allowed to keep growing up. Most of his social guidance was taken up by his mother, a formidable dowager upon the social scene, while his father focused more upon the business and investments that allowed them to maintain their fortune. Both of them, however, were keen to impress the importance of their position upon the young prince, taking him around and showing off their heir to the soirees and the papers. To be surrounded from birth by snobs sucking up to you and your family is not a particularly good environment to raise a young colt with an equal respect for all ponies. After all, if the only ponies you meet treat you as a natural-born superior, it’s hard not to believe them. Even as he grew up, and saw how mean and snobbish some of them could be, it never really occurred to him that they might be wrong. That’s not to say he liked their company much; most of the time, he thought his peers and their parents social bores as well as social inferiors. He much preferred to spend time on the water, as he enjoyed sailing from a young age, and even harbored a secret respect for the low-class practitioners of the science. It also gave him a soft spot for tales of sea adventure, and for a while he even took saber-fencing lessons, as it was the closest thing his parents would allow him to a cutlass. Indeed, it was after seeing the parallels between ocean and social navigation that he got his cutie mark. After his aborted attempt to run away to sea, his parents made sure he finished his education, taking an honorary degree from Canterlot University. Upon graduation, he came into his inheritance as Prince Blueblood LIV, and began to work the social scene in his own right. Having debuted as a stallion, naturally potential suitors began to crawl out of the woodwork. At first he found the attention flattering, but after the first three gold-diggers he uncovered, he began to grow rather cynical about the whole business of courtship. He began to make a little game of it, seeing exactly how annoying he could be until all the suck-up snobs couldn’t take it anymore. All the while, of course, he still nurtured a solid sense of superiority over them. Then came that fateful evening, the first Grand Galloping Gala since the return of Princess Luna. Prince Blueblood honestly had no idea that this was going to be any different than the others, a certain cool distance having been long maintained between him and his “aunt.” When yet another unicorn approached him with obvious designs, he thought no more of her than the last half-dozen potential tuft-hunters that he’d had to deal with. Alas, for this was, in fact, Rarity, a sincere romantic who was not inclined to put up with the Prince’s unchivalrous games. The evening ended in absolute fiasco, with her giving him a public and scathing dressing-down, all the while the runaway menagerie were making ruins of the Grand Ballroom. Blueblood was reduced to a state of shock for the remainder of the night, and in the morning, found himself doing some solid thinking. He hadn’t gotten very far when his “Aunt” Celestia came to visit, and to ask just why he had behaved in such a manner to one of the Elements of Harmony. He very nearly choked on his ego before managing to answer her, but eventually he managed to cover his reasoning, to which the Princess was not unsympathetic. She recommended, however, that he take a long hiatus from Canterlot, as the company he’d kept up until now had given him a rather skewed version of Ponykind. So, he once again took up sailing, visiting various ports-of-call throughout Equestria, and generally trying to broaden his company and improve his manners. This caused him to be put into various situations to which he was completely unsuited for. Some ponies are born adventurers, some ponies seek adventure, but Blueblood had adventures thrust upon him! And it has to be said, his performance in them was... mixed. He does try his best, which has won him at least a little more respect than he expected from more natural adventurers. On the other hand, he's due to appear in the next Daring Do novel as the villain's dupe... Character Summary: Most of the time when you meet him, you’ll see a typical high-born Canterlot Stallion, a little vain of his appearance and station, but not nearly as insufferable as he might be. He has a long cultivated a fine taste in the arts, courtesy of his mother, and is not a bad head at business, thanks to his father. While his social sense gives him insight into group behaviors, he can be slightly clueless when dealing with individual ponies, which can end up in him coming off rather badly. In addition, he doesn’t think much of lesser nobility, and sometimes will intentionally act up, just to annoy them. He’s come to think less of his class in general, without necessarily thinking better of any other pony’s. It takes a lot of patience to get on his good side, and he will be the first to admit that it may not be worth the effort. He's definitely a dandy when it comes to dress, and if he doesn't catch himself, his narcissism becomes a little more genuine. That said, he's not completely hopeless in a fight, though he has acquired a paralyzing fear of Changelings, due to a certain incident in Ponyville on Nightmare Night. He has self-esteem issues, which run the gauntlet from egotism to inferiority complexes, but he's gotten more self-aware over the past couple of years. It's rather hard to keep a high opinion of oneself when ponies all over Equestria are reading about how you got taken in by a villain who was literally twirling his moustache. All told, he'd prefer a peaceful society life of soirees and mild scandal, but it seems as if that's not what life has in store for His Royal Highness...

  14. "I was at the Pooflehoofs' cocktail party, one of the many social engagements I simply must attend when I noticed a group who were observing something over in the corner. I went to investigate, and was almost stabbed by a unicorn filly who was charging about in the most undignified manner." Undignified indeed. Celestia had heard the name Lanceguard before, one of the champions in the local competitive jousting community, though her sort of joust was more oriented toward formal sport than historical reenactment. Still, the fact that Blueblood had begun with a disparaging remark of another was telling enough. This was going to be good. "...Nevertheless, I requested politely that she restrict her antics to the jousting field, if she had to do it at all." Politely. Of course. The last time that Blueblood had attempted to be polite, he had ended up with cake on his face in addition to the hooves of a very angry lady unicorn. As Blueblood continued, Celestia nodded at the keywords. Entirely reasonable. Demanded. Demeaning. All part of the vernacular of high society to be sure, but all codewords for “I made a faux pas but would rather push my blame upon another.” The Princess nodded sagely as Blueblood finished his tale of woe. Celestia took a dainty sip from her teacup before gently setting it upon the conference table and thoughtfully putting a hoof to her chin. Despite his best efforts, Blueblood had telegraphed very clearly the fact that he wanted out of this comedy of errors via her intervention. Of course, the Princess would have none of this. It was a fact of life that a pony must be held accountable for his or her actions. Blueblood was not exempt from this. Of course, the question remained. How would she best educate him in this fact of life? It would teach him nothing if she merely forbade the contest. It would also teach him nothing if the contest were resolved quietly and in private. Furthermore, it would be entirely rude and un-princess-like if she were to dismiss him without another word, though she very well could have done so. Oh what a dilemma! But what was this? A little idea crept its way into Celestia’s mind, sparking all sorts of plots, plans, and pranks, titillating that little mischievous bit she had never fully shed from her youth. The Princess had a plan... the perfect plan. Lanceguard’s jousting tour had been struggling with both poor advertising and lack of general interest in the sport. As it turned out, a local foals’ hospital had also been struggling with a recent dearth of donations, a matter which had been presented to her just a few hours ago in that same conference room. This would work beautifully. A joust for charity! The honorable Blueblood against the grizzled veteran Lanceguard! The fight of the decade! The local promoters would be all over this! And the best part? It was all for a good cause, a cause that even Blueblood couldn’t worm his way out of. Regardless of the outcome, everypony would be a winner... except perhaps the Duke himself. “I completely understand,” Celestia smiled, the mischievous lilt remaining in her voice. “Don’t worry one bit, my dear Blueblood! I will personally ensure that this matter is resolved. In fact, I will have the adjutant file a formal request for Lanceguard’s presence now.” The princess picked up an idle quill from its inkwell and proceeded to scribble down instructions on a bit of palace stationery. Borne on the aether, the page folded itself neatly and vanished in a puff of green flame, bound for the adjutant’s desk out front. “In the meantime,” the Princess said, replacing the quill in its inkwell, “Do continue your training. I think it suits you quite well. Besides, it would be quite rude to so abruptly terminate your lessons considering you have already committed both your trainer’s time and your own.” (( A fundraiser for the foals’ hospital? Check. A promotional event for competition jousting? Check. A clueless Blueblood? Check. Mix ingredients. Bake in coliseum for a day. Profit.))
  15. Currently have a few players already, and we've been floating around with an ADVENTURE type RP. The characters are given a grand quest/job/task to perform and the pay is good, but there's a catch. The pony who gave them the quest also wishes to tag along to make sure it is done properly. Along with the current players, we would need someone who can play Prince Bloodblood, or any other royal/wealthy type character. Must be a pain in the flank to work. We're also trying to come up with the quest idea. Any ideas?
  16. One of the things I've noticed in the RP forums is the lack of antagonists and challenges. While I like relationship based RPs as much as the next fox... pony, just relationship stuff on it's own is kind of bland. That was one of the reasons i decided to take up Prince Blueblood. Even characters like Trixie and Gilda have amore positive fanbase than him. While anyone who reads my version of his backstory will see there's more to him than the shallow, self-absorbed plot-hole we cameto hate at the gala, that part of his character is still in place. He's not evil, just narcissitic, over-bearing, stuck-up and self-centred. So, I offer him as an antagonist in any Canterlot based RP. Someone for the protagonist characters to pit themselves against. Of course, this being a universe where the magic of friendship and harmony are real, he's almost certainly going to end up on the short end of it, and probably covered in cake. But that's fine. I gurantee to provide any takers with a thouroughly unloveable jerk who you can feel a real satisfaction at getting the better of.
