1. It's been a while since Swift Squall was in the Castle of Friendship. Various commitment and obligations always got in the way fro another visit, preventing Squall from dropping to say 'Hi' to his Sweetheart or asking the Princess Sparkle for opinion on some important matters. Unfortunately, his presence here this evening was once again dictated by duty. There was something made Swift spent his nights sleepless lately, and for the welfare of Equestria and beyond it had to be addressed.... "Sorry to drop by so unexpectedly Dear....." Swift apologized to his fiancee while they stood in the Castle's main hall - now illuminated by the pale light of the moon. Princess Sparkle was away right now. For how long? Who knows? It didn't wasn't really relevant right now - especially seeing that he had to exchange words with her as well, regarding the same issue. "I just felt.....that this place is more secure then most. And Saraneighvo....Well, Saraneighvo isn't really an option, is it?" he said, almost sounding apologetic to the crimson pegasus. "......I am not sure who else will come. I tried to reach out to however many I could yet....." he paused for a moment, before taking a deep breath. Noblepony turned around and gazed at the Fire. "....You agree with me, do you? At least on the part that the current course can't continue?" he asked, almost hesitant.
2. Vanhoover, the City of Gardens. For Squall the colorfulness of the view outside the window was clashing with grimness of the task he was presented with. Unicorns gaze shifted towards the papers that were laying on the table. Copies of numerous reports made during the last three months. About three dozen cases of missing pets and four missing ponies - all unicorns - around norther Everfree region. No direct witnesses and little evidence was found, but what was discovered was...unsettling. No wonder that EPIC came to be involved. The circumstances would be enough, but there were also sheer numbers. Whatever was the reason for those events it had to be put to an end. Now. Swift walked away from the window and sat in the armchair, checking the papers once more. Having at least an apartment in every major city had advantages. This way he could proceed with investigation with much fewer worries. That said, during the last three days he was in Vanhoover the information he collected proved.....inconclusive. The only thing that remained was to look for this apparent 'beast' directly. Of course noblepony was no fool. During his past as the sell-sword he faced many monsters - and he knew that Everfree was simply thriving with them. Finding the specific one, one that was responsible for this incidents required preparation. And backup. Higher ups apparently agreed with his request. This morning Squall received information that his backup was on the way, and he should expect it the very same day. All that remained was to wait for the other agent that was dispatched for assistance. Wait and.... Was that knocking that he just heard?
3. Scions of the Royal House of Blueblood had never been known for their patience, and as far as Princess Bluebelle was concerned, this whole thing had gone on long enough! All things considered, it was hard to impute her impatience as a vice. After all, when one has been born as a Prince, living contentedly as one for one's entire life, to suddenly be made a Princess by magical accident was a little disturbing, to say the least. Princess Twilight had been working on a reversal spell, but the unusual circumstances under which the transformation took place (involving a sneeze messing up a healing spell), made the research slow going. And in the meantime, several circumstances had been wearing down Bluebelle's ability to wait. First was the fact that the transformation was bizarrely inconsistent. While most of the time, she was a mare, from time to time she would revert back to her old body, which necessitated constant re-adjustment of everything from walking pace to wardrobes. It was quite trying. But perhaps even more disturbing was the fact that such reversals started out as very common, almost daily, but had slowly become more and more infrequent. This started to breed a worry in the Princess that if measures weren't taken soon, the transformation might turn out to be irreversible! Which would be terrible. *Gah! I need to focus! It's even starting to affect my mind now.* So it was, after a good few months of putting on a good show of taking her change calmly, Bluebelle took matters to rectify the situation into her own hooves. And, after an intensive few days of research (on the part of her secretary), she felt a solution might finally be within her grasp... ~***~ "We can't be lost, that's impossible!" Dressed impeccably in tailored khaki, Bluebelle frowned and fumed at the old map she was levitating in front of her. "I can find a small island in the trackless oceans! Surely one temple in one forest can't be hard to find..." The expedition to the Leota had not been hard to scrape together. She had royal funds, as well as an honor guard to serve as traveling companion and protector. But once she had let slip that she was going hunting for an ancient magical artifact, said to be held by an all-stallion tribe that once lived in the Leota, she unexpectedly found her party increased by one, a mare from EPIC. Not that she minded the extra protection, but she could not imagine what on earth any potential villains would want with a statuette that turned mares into stallions. Well, except smashing it to spite her. "Are either of you familiar with finding your way through forests? Because I think we've passed that tree before." She turned to her traveling companions, sizing them up for likelihoods. Star Crusader, Bluebelle's honor guard, had proved to be a resourceful mare in the past. It was this secure unflappability and readiness from the gigantic pegasus which had first caught the royal figure's admiration, even before Blueblood had seen what she looked like underneath the bulk of her armor. The help she had lately given her in dealing with her current situation only increased that admiration, and Blue had come to trust Star implicitly. The other mare, Rubble Rose, was more of a cipher. For one thing, she was neither talkative, nor silently expressive in much of any way. In addition to this strong, silent attitude was the fact that... it really didn't make a lot of sense for her to be here, as far as the Princess could see. EPIC surely had more members available that were better suited to wilderness adventures... unless they anticipated some difficulty in breaking into the temple. Then it would make sense to bring along an urban demolitionist. *Is there something else, though, that I'm not seeing? She had personally requested to come along as soon as she heard that we were going to an ancient temple....*
4. The unicorn WRAITH Officer had incinerated the letter awhile ago, though she couldn't stop thinking about it. The ambitious mare had a big smile on her face as the small team of mooks and scientists got to work. She didn't know why they couldn't just dump the plague in the water and call it a day, but the eggheads insisted it "must be added gradually". Either way, she knew this was going to be her big break! If she succeeded here, she might even be rewarded! She might even get a name tag! Finally! Recognition she deserved! She couldn't fail, and thus far, they had been practically unopposed! Unnoticed, even! Or so she thought. This underground waterway didn't offer much in the way of protection, however. It was fairly canalized with few places to hide. Something that may or may not work in their favor, but she preferred to get out of here as quickly as possible. Just on the off chance somepony did notice them going in here. It did strike her as a bit odd there weren't more guards, seeing as this water directly went to the caribou royalty... Her supervision cut short by rumbling footsteps coming up behind her, the Officer scoffing as she looked over her shoulder at the 'Elite' operative she was provided. "What is it now, you impertinent buffoon?" she asked of the very large Diamond Dog towering over her. He and his new gadget had been assigned as extra insurance for her operation, though in all honesty she took it as a slight. She didn't need W.R.A.I.T.H.'s lapdog to babysit. She had things well under control! "Dog new pack is ready" he reported, referring to the large crystal pack strapped to his back. The mare seemed unimpressed. Did he even know how to use that thing? A new development of W.R.A.I.T.H.'s R&D department, it was supposed to be some kind of 'magic beam caster' that was originally going to be used as a static post. Instead, they decided to strap the prototype to Dog. "Very well. Stay within earshot. If one of those savages wanders down here you will need to dispose of them..." Dog nodded, and situated himself in a darker nook of the waterway to sit and await further instructions... Or for trouble to start. The spot was shadowed enough to hide him with her darker fur color. While not the stealthiest guy around, perhaps if he held still he could at least surprise potential opponents. Maybe. But until then, he'd just have to wait and fantasize about hitting something. The remainder of the security team, four uniformed mooks sat at the entrance, were just making idle chatter through their respirators. Glorified lookouts, if nothing else. At the very least they could buy some time before Dog was deployed. "What's taking so long?!" she barked at one of the WRAITH scientists, looking up from the canisters they were rigging up. "We're finishing calibrations now... The pressure levels of these containers need to be set to to release the contagion at a rate where it will not be too diluted and will have a better chance of contaminating the water supply as a whole! Of course, if you decided to assist us, we could move this along much-" the stallion was cut off by a fireball square to the torso, singeing his labcoat and knocking him against the far wall. The Officer, he horn steaming, just stifled a chuckle. "You shouldn't make jokes, doctor. Humor is... hurtful... and can ruin lives. Besides, if you're telling me you need my assistance to do your job... All I'm hearing is you admitting you've outlived your usefulness..." Without another word, the scientist limped back to work, leaving the underground waterway itself back to an eerie silence.
5. An otherwise typical bustling day in Manehattan, it quickly turned into a crisis when a certain Diamond Dog decided to make a withdrawal from the city reserve. Dog had enough waiting around. WRAITH was doing good work, but not enough of Dog's kind of work. He wanted to hit the Equestrians in a place it would hurt. Somepony once told him 'money is power', and the ponies seemed to have a lot of it. He just wanted to make Number 1 proud, and so, took a rare moment of inititive. He was going to get Number 1 money, and number 1 would be proud of him. ... Maybe he's keep some money for himself too.Replace that rusty blunderbuss on his back, or finally get his beloved Dogdozer in proper bashing order again. Dog was staring at the Manehattan bank, thinking. He might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but even he knew he couldn't just charge in there and demand the money. He needed a plan. But plan after plan circled in his head, none of which were very good. One even involved asking nicely, which he slapped himself for. Ponies didn't ask nicely for diamond dog lands! At least, he didn't think so, so why offer them that courtesy? Dog just wanted the money that was in that bank. As far as he was concerned, that money was HIS money now! The ponies wouldn't have it no more, and they'd have less power! It's Dog's money, and he wants it now!! ... Well, it was time to just charge right in there and demand the money. He sprinted toward the glass doors of the financial building and threw his shoulder into them, shattering through the doors like a minotaur in a china shop. The already massive diamond dog stood on his hind legs to make himself taller, but only ended up bumping into and breaking the ceiling tiles, which just frustrated him even more. At this point, those who were in the bank were running and diving every which way for cover, but the screaming was starting to get on Dog's nerves. Always they were screaming in his ear! He was right there! He could hear them just fine! One little unicorn pony in particular seemed to be trying purposefully to upset him. Some kind of bank guard? Through the shouts of 'stop right there's and 'get on the ground's, Dog could only see a mild annoyance. Big beefy paws took hold of the guard, eliciting a squeak from him before tossing the pony out of the broken doors like a hoofball. With the 'threat' taken care of, he lumbered toward the counter to a tearful mare doing her best to just stop shaking. "Money." Dog growled to the teller, who seemed confused at first, staring up at her robber. "M-Money...? How... How m-m-much-?" she asked, trying to play it cool, before being interrupted, rudely, by a chain-wrapped fist hammering down on the counter, nearly breaking it in half. Whoever owned the building was certainly going to lose money today either way, it seemed. "ALL MONEY!" he roared, the teller cowering under his booming voice. "GIVE DOG NOW, STUPID PONY!" If she wasn't going to do it, he might just have to try and break the vault door himself... Could take some time. Was there nopony that could stand up to this fuzzy bully?
6. It began in quite a few places. Kegs were sent out and brought to all across whitescar. Some subtly slipped into shipments as they were brought by the nefarious tentacles of none other than the WRAITH group. Caribou of all walks of life across whitescar were quickly struck by a disease unlike any that they had seen before. Once wise and tempered leaders had been turned into monstrous parodies of themselves which took an entire raid parties to take down on their own... but that merely spread the curse as more and more of the Caribou of Whitescar succumbed to the dangerous berserker plague. Hello, Everyone! This is an ooc I fully intend to follow up on. Thanks to WRAITH's actions and magical/scientific R&D team they have created a bio-weapon that could be used to make the caribou wipe themselves out. Several high profile Jarl's and chieftains have been infected by this plague and many are either holding onto their minds by sheer force of will or turning into beastly berserkers that have achieved a level of phyical strength that many have seen only in legends... but not in the way it seemed to be appearing here. The "Berserker plague" as many caribou are calling it is an infectious disease that is capable of infecting caribou but many are worried it could spread to, deer, and possibly even Moose. The plague has three stages that show in it's victims although the length of these stages of infection severity can vary wildly among the infected on a case by case basis. Stage one symptoms: Increased aggression, slightly paranoia, muscle twinges. Stage two: Fever, bouts of anger, Increase in sweat production. Stage three: The caribou enters the berserker state the plague is named for. Many caribou enter a berserker rage when in combat but their strength and speed are still sensible. in this form however; Limbs legnthen and muscle builds on them. Bone structure grows harder, and the infected grow canines. Eyes tend to glow and sweat production goes into overdrive as the plague's magic disable the limits on their muscle's strength and heals the damage that it would normally cause while heating up their bodies to the point constant streams and ribbons of evaporate sweat and steam can be seen billowing from their bodies. the plague render's tghem merely instinct and rage lashing out at those who have posed an active threat to them and relentlessly pursueing until it is "dealt" with. Stage three is difficult because of the variation the infected can have depending on who they were. Those who spent their lives as couriers and delivery makers are turned into chargers that can move faster than the equine can track in the blink of an eye. Blacksmiths who spent their lives building up their foreleg's strength now have the power to crush raw ore with their bear hooves and lift incredible weights. The average bou who does not have much muscle mass beyond that natural strength of his species now runs a fever hot enough that getting in close proximity can hurt anyone close enough and those who touch them are physically burned while they can strike with enough power to send another bou crashing through a wall at the cost of damage to themselves that the plague's magic knits back together quickly. The high ranking caribou warriors, like jarls and chieftains however are considered nightmarish to face, usually toppling their strongest fighters in their circle like child'splay. This event is goign to be mostly focused on The Askr clan's reaction to and way of dealing with the problem. Due to their relative closeness to their Equine allies, the chieftain of their clan has decided to bring in a group of creatures who are immune to the plagues effects and are skilled enough to handle detaining and saving citizens in her hold who are not professional warriors such as her troops. This is because I can only speak for my own clan creation, but other clans and caribou from them are free to have their own thread tied into this where they are dealign with their problem or assisting others with theirs. I know Clan breen, and clan olin, -could- be affected by this in some way if their players would like that! For the threads that involve Clan Askr I have a few planned with some volunteers already interested. The Concoction of a cure!: Askr's Chieftain Works with experts in curses dark magic, and medicine to create a method to treat this plague and neutralise the infectivity before it completely spreads over whitescar. She has procured the blood of an infected and tries to keep a cool head in a stressful situation with those who volunteered to help end this as soon as possible Characters involved: Chieftain Sigrun, Necromancer Chipper demise, first class medic SKyhaven The capture of the infected!: The hold of the ASkr clan is large and the size of a city with the hall of clan being located in the center. While many of the caribou who entereed stage three have been captured, it was not without cost as the troops sent there had become infected and needed to bound and immobilized before they could join their brothers and sisters in the senseless destruction. The head of the clan has decided that none caribou will have to work to capture the "weaker" straggler infected that are roaming around a now mostly empty city where the evacuation of the citizens are still ongoing. These thread shall be handled By Rainbow fox working as a DM in which the ones responsible for searching for the infected learn about the infected that they are trying to capture before they must find a way to detain the mad stage three they are facing. I would like to use these threads to encourage those in them to think up a good strategy fro dealing with something more powerful than they are so try to think up ways that will alow your characters to win but save the infected in question. Characters involved: Thread 1: Swift Squall , Naj, and Javasun (Charger thread is up!) Thread 2: Cyclone , Ice storm and Stormstrider (Hulker thread is up!) The Tainting of the High King's water!: Lastly is the more bold plan that WRAITH has decided to enact. Wraith has sent their best combatants to protect an operation to pollute the high king of WHitescar's water with the berserker plague's contaminants and send his hold into chaos. It will take some brave ponies from epic and maybe the guard to stop this horrific plot! Characters involved: (EPIC) Dunder Blust, Fire Walker. Star crusader (WRAITH) Dog The battle with the first infected of Askr: I'm hoping to only open this thread up towards the end for thematic reasons. So people don't feel left out I felt i should add that it is fine if griffins or other species such as Qilin or otherwise with to get involved in this. I am considering allowing the addition of the Mane six into the story at some point but only if those involved think it would be a good addition and those who play them know that Whitescar is... very different from Equestria. This event will be able to be started relatively soon, if not today then possibly tomorrow when Rainbowfoxx can start the OP for the capture threads.

10. Kastrot was a city that was unkind to a great many types of creatures unless they had horns. Of course, it depended on what specific island or neighborhood you found yourself in. Some islands were laissez-faire in their relations with other types of pony and creatures. As long as the bits flowed and troublemakers were kept out they didn't care. Others were more open, actively trying to be equal partners with the outside world. But the majority were various kinds of discriminatory towards non-unicorns. Maybe you paid a tax. Maybe you had to serve the island for a set period of time. Each island was different and that made Kastrot a city utterly unknowable to anypony not from the area, shaded and colored by island so vibrantly and differently that most could not hope to keep track of it all. Well, maybe those who weren't the best adventure pegasus of all time, anyway! Pathfinder knew Kastrot pretty well. Pathfinder loved Kastrot. It was a really interesting city and since each family had castles and holdings stretching back through the eons there was a great number of relics and other adventurable items. And because the families were constantly in a state of infighting she could always try to work with one pony to find ways to another's secret vault guarded by mercenaries. And Maretonian mercenaries were totally awesome and ruthless! Pathfinder liked adventuring in Maretonia for just that reason. They were tough and their traps weren't decaying since their old places were constantly being refound and ponied by warlike elements of the population. Never a dull day in a dreary land. Maybe Hippolandinstanian(she always had trouble pronouncing that city's name) was a better entry point but Kastrot had a lot more backstabbing coolness. Not that she expected backstabbing from this group. EPIC- what a name, right? This was Pathfinder's first real group. She was normally a solo adventurer, swiping relics and beating villains without breaking a sweat like a boss. But after what happened during the attack at the Crystal Faire, Pathfinder had started to believe that the dark places of the world that she so routinely traversed had started to bite the hooves that fed them. She wasn't worried for her own safety because, well, nothing could make Pathfinder concerned for something that was never really in doubt. But even Daring Do had to work for the greater good in her stunning quintet “Daring Do and the Conflict of the Heartbreak Ridge”. And just like that book, no doubt there would be hidden relics as the cause of it all! So how could Pathfinder NOT join up? It would be like high treason to Daring DO not to! So she had joined and now the group was heading to Maretonia, Kastrot specifically. Sombra had been from this city and one of the unicorns who led the attack on the Empire also hailed from Kastrot. They had so little to go on so why not pay the city a visit? Besides, the city was likely quite popular as a WRAITH recruitment center. If Pathfinder knew anything about secret societies, it was that they recruited from lawless settlements and tyrannically lawful cities alike. Disenfranchised strong ponies or scheming family members alike could be promised gold and fame to help bring down Equestria, the state that mocked their origins as being unworthy. Geez, if Pathfinder was an upset strongpony or spoiled richfilly trying to make a name for herself maybe she'd take them up on the offer! Showing up in an airship would attract attention. That was bad- they weren't supposed to be ponies of note. Just a bunch of travelers. Airships were rare for travelers. Their destination- Flamme Island, owned by the family of the same name, They weren't very kind to non-unicorns but aside from a tax on visitors and some unkind words there wasn't much Pathfinder expected unusual. More important, she knew the tunnels under the city and had a few, err, friends who could help with some exchanges of currency. Soon they'd look like normal unhappy Maretonians and could get to work. Huzzah! Pathfinder was at the head of the ship, playing as if she was steering the rickety old thing from a wheel unattached to anything up front. Behind her on the cracking boat were a few dozen immigrants and travelers as well as other members of EPIC, some below and some on the deck as they passed through the opening of the island's harbor, the city's massive walls passing directly overhead as the ship was surrounded in darkness for a moment...before bursting into the light of the active harbor, Pathfinder turning to her friend-compatriots. “This is gonna be super cool! Who's ready for some adventurin'?!”
11. Joining the REA was a big choice for Dexter. Choosing to relocate for a top secret team after being accepted for it by the princesses was even bigger. Now he was elected to be the leader? Dexterhad no idea how his life lead to this, but if he could take down threats to Equestria from the shadows, he'd be fine with it, but still... leader for a griffon whom barely had any combat training? Sure he was smart, logical, exacting... but he knew very little of combat and knew everything about science and cornering opponents... OK... perhaps he was the right choice to lead... He had hoped that the first meeting of the new team would well... be with the whole team as small as it was... But alas he was given two pieces of intel by the princesses who had chosen him and had sent out orders to other team members to chase down the leads. Sending out two teams, one to Maretonia and another to Whitescar was rather difficult especially since he only had dossiers to work off of to make his choices... he could only hope his insight was effective. All in all, including himself, only six members were left for the first official meeting of EPIC. A coded message with a cypher was sent out. The latter by word of mouth from agents so that it would not be easily broken. It went out to all members of EPIC detailing instructions on how to get to the HQ which was hidden in the Saraneighvo branch of the Equestrian Library. Entering through the back entrance and opening up a secret stairwell in the floor using a rather ingenious mechanism, which was apparently set up during more troubling times... Still it made for a good hidden base. On paper Dexter had been re-stationed in Saraneighvo's base, and the head librarian was a former REIN agent who was given a briefing. All loose ends were tied and all Dexter had to do was hold a simple meeting to discuss what the team was, and discuss any pertinent matters, including determining positions within EPIC itself. Dexter was smart enough to know that he was ill equipped to lead the team to full competency. At the center of secret basement room was rather large round table with a map of Equestria and the surrounding lands on it. To the back of the room were filing cabinets that had any information the REIN and the Princesses had on any enemies of Equestria, including WRAITH. There were several non-designated rooms, and a fully stocked kitchen as well. Dexter looked at the odd collection of members in front of him... "Welcome to EPIC Headquarters. I am the appointed leader Dexter Silverbeak, REA Investigative Specialist. You have all been chosen or volunteered to be a part of this organization to prevent enemies of Equestria gaining the upper talon...or hoof." Dexter made a basic introduction. "I trust you all have read the materials given to you so we can keep the introductions brief and get down to business quickly... After all... Time is our most valuable commodity, and it is not to be wasted."
12. "Nothing was the same again after what happened in the Crystal Empire....." With only hours remaining until the end of the Crystal Faire, now comes time to figure out what happens afterwards. When an entire city is laid to ruins by a rogue caribou army and agents of WRAITH, that brings about consequences. How do the crystal ponies rebuild their homes? What is to be done to counter future caribou threats? Who will bring an end to that dastardly Red Jarl? Let's discuss... THE AFTERMATH! If you got any aftermath thread ideas that you'd like to bring to life, don't hesitate to mention it. You just might find someone who'll want to join your RP. In the meantime, I'll keep a master list of all proposed thread ideas as a reference for users. 13. A strange, cloaked figure trotted toward the large treehouse -- none other than Ponyville Library. Her lavender cloak fluttered about in the cool morning air, her saddlebag heavy with a care package. Upon hearing that Ponyville's mail delivery service was backlogged, she had decided to take the package to Ponyville herself. She raised a hoof and knocked lightly on the oaken door of the library, peeking through a side window with her aquatic gaze. "Heelllllooooooo? Twilight? Are you home, honey?" No answer. She huffed, rolling her eyes. "I bet the brat is in bed still." She cleared her throat, calling out in a pretty, sing-song tone: "Twili! Open up my dear, I have books for you and more!" She swallowed hard, wondering how ridiculous it sounded to have her offering books at the foot of a library. She knocked on the door again, this time more curtly. "Arrgh!" She stamped her hooves, frustrated. "What does a mother have to do to see her own daughter around here?!" She pulled her lavender cloak off with a flourish, revealing her white-and-lavender striped mane, her dull grey coat contrasting against the brown and green of the large, library treehouse. She was wearing a gorgeous purple faux-leather saddle, which was trimmed with bits of rope she had woven herself. Three purple stars dotted both of her flanks, her mane bangs cut straight just like that of her little filly. She huffed again, her breath misting in the chill of the morning. "Open sesame! Divide, O Door! Grant thy Velvet entry!" Oh yes, indeed. Twilight Sparkle's mother, Velvet, was visiting!
14. Equestria and the Staff of Fate There exists a legend so obscured and grand that even myth considers it myth, that parents don't even bother telling their foals it's story because even to their ears it sounds absurdly silly. But in Equestria there is truth to every lie, an answer to every riddle, a key to every lock and fact behind every work of fiction. Equestra forgot about the Staff of Fate. Fate did not forget about Equestria. Across the land exist relics, each of which are powerful all their own and worthy of the many legends told about them. Some of these legends are true and others false, yet all are insignificant in their singular nature when compared to what they do together, forming the Staff of Fate. Somepony has figured it out and is going after these artifacts viciously: Griffon and Diamond Dog mercernaries, a pet dragon, an extremely competent Pony force with the bits, smarts, and intelligence to back it up. What does this shadowy figure want? Is the Staff of Fate real? If so, what does it do? No one knows, but a small group of the finest minds and adventurers in the land know one thing: Anypony so obsessed with something of such mythic power must be stopped at all costs. It's just a shame personality conflicts stop them from working together, but still- all for two and two for Equestria! Hey there and welcome to the OOC topic for Equestria and the Staff of Fate, an epic comedy/adventure/mystery series that will span many, many interconnected threads and involve many characters, locations, situations and foes. There will be two core groups of adventurers involved, but they will be heading across the land. As they hit a new area, characters in the area will be able to join in on the fun. I am also not opposed to groups starting their own storyline that fits into this arc, but it has to at least adhere to what we have set-up. This thread itself is still a work in progress and as such expect this to be updated many, many times before we launch the series of adventures! Questions are welcomed. The Ongoing Plot- Teams 1 and 2 WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE GRAND STORY ARC ABOUND. Prologues 1: Iris of Immortality and The Saxon Staff. Prologues 2: The Ruby Claw. Pegasi of a Feather: In the Land of Bored and Broken- Part One of the Iris of Immortality Trilogy. Sort et Coincidence- Part Three of the Claw Storyline. A Taste of Desert Hospitality- Part four of the Claw Storyline. New locations are as always welcomes.) Relics: Orb of Overwatch- The Orb of Overwatch's legend is that a paranoid princess used it to investigate her subjects for rebellion. This is truthfully what it does by itself, as it can pierce the heart and soul of any pony to discern the truth. The Iris of Immortality- Used by the followers of a prince to keep their poisoned prince alive. Said to grant immortality and perfection o form, the Iris of Immortality may or may not grant it. However, it does help give the staff it's power... Saxon Staff- After trying to take the throne from his brother, an evil prince attempts to wield ultimate power by the creation of this staff. He is overthrown before he can complete his task, and the staff is placed near the Iris of Immortality. Unlimited magical power. The Ruby Claw- Links the Orb and the Staff. By itself, it is a fearsome weapon said to be wielded by the Griffon Warlord who defeated Commander Hurricane and stripped her of her Helm. The Amulet of Time- An ancient artificat rumored to have been created by Unicornia in an effort to stall the onslaught of winter so it could evacuate more unicorns from the old lands. It allows its user to do with time what it wills, going backwards, forwards, stopping it, speeding it up. However, the user feels the same effects, making it equally dangerous to the user unless... The Faye- No one knows what it is, what it means. Together, these things come together to form the Staff of Fate, a device which allows its user to channel all the soul searching powers of the Orb and the time bending capabilities of the Amulet. He can pierce the souls of all creatures at all times forever, and with the aid of the Iris of Immortality and the Saxon Staff, has the capability to do what he pleases, when he pleases, forever and with no way of stopping him. He becomes fate incarnate. No one knows who created the Staff of Fate or why, and if someone once had it, how in Equestria did it get away from him? And if someone wants to get it now, then why- and can they be stopped? Enemies:(Used only past the prologue) Diamond Dog Mercenaries- They'll work for gems, bones, or the sheer thrill of the hunt! Dull, but dangerous. Griffon Mercenaries- Dishonored military officers mix with criminals who escaped from The Pit to create a dangerous and highly motivated group of fortune seekers. Led by Gavin Stormwing, Major Brenda Razorclaw, and a hyper intelligent crime lord called The Director. Merlot: Hailing from a prominent family of grape farmers (hence his name), this smoothly-dressed archaeologist obtains antiquities and sells them to private collectors. When not getting his hooves dirty (which is rare, since he uses other ponies to do his dirty work), Merlot can be seen enjoying the pleasures of high-society life. While many do-gooder treasure hunters revile the stallion, Merlot sees such ponies as careless hypocrites whose methods needlessly damage archaeologial sites. General Pummel: A honorable high-ranking officer in Equestria's Honor Guard, Pummel takes all percieved threats to Equestria's harmony seriously. As an admirer of the Griffin military, the general has associated in the past with a couple of his opposite numbers in Aquellia, who recently suffered disgrace due to an embarrassing incident. Should these ex-griffin officers suck up their pride, they will find General Pummel to be a valuable ally, just as long as he won't have to betray Princess & Country. Purple Stars- A large relic and antique 'collection' service with both a public and criminal facade. While it is a well-known and very respectably competent acqusition service that has recovered and protected relics and museums from harm, it has run into some difficult times and under new ownership has found itself used as hired hooves in the search for the relics. Some of its best and most seasoned agents will be deployed against the heroes in the name of profit and adventure, while sub-groups devoted to more sinister backroom dealings will do what needs to be done too ensure the success of their masters. Others to come(Ponies, dragons, and the various traps, creatures and local issues that will come up in a less planned manner) Teams: (Working it out with a few others. There are two main groups as well as individuals who are vital to the team's success who do not always join the main adventurers) Team 1- Trixie, Pathfinder, Twilight, Spin Tale, Rain Leaf- Main Team Team 2- Dr. Whooves, Bamboo Blade, Seeker, Serendipity, Applejack- Main Team Team 3- Arrow Plain, Gilda, Trailblazer, Lightning Dancer, ONE SPOT OPEN- Team 4- Snowfall, Sparks, Harrington Sleuth, Fire Walker, Trekker- Location: Granola Gracie [Whitetail Wood] Miracle [Canterlot] Sugar Rush [Gallopocous Island] Gladius Vigil Snowdrift Whirly Gig Kazino Kwato Everfree Forest Electric Vibe Ponyville Muggo' Ale [Fillydelphia] Wind Rider [Hoofington] Penumbra [Canterlot] Bowsprit [Gallopocous Island Radiant Steel [Canterlot] Lady Luck [Desert] Midnight Brand Roughrider Ridge (central ridge/mountains) Arcana - location specific to Everfree (and potentially others) Vivid Flair - location specific to Manehattan Sierra - location specific to Badlands or Roughrider Ridge Rarity - location specific to Ponyville. Be advised...

... intel inbound. You may have seen my latest fanfiction project, Paladin, on both FiMFiction.net and Canterlot.com's fanfiction section. Now I know what you're thinking; not ANOTHER human in Equestria story! Not ANOTHER blatantly obvious, poorly-written self-insert! Stigma is always a problem, but I assure you that's not my intent. Paladin is meant to be a continuation of an epic I've been intending to write for MLP since before FiM was a thing. The adventure will span two worlds and involve both humans and ponies. I aim to both tell a story and craft characters, good characters, giving them the loving attention they deserve. These are living, breathing characters and I hope to tell their story rather than simply using them as playthings. It is an ambitious project for me, as I have done more one-shots than anything else, but I want to at least use it to stimulate my creativity and force myself to write well. But enough of that. I'm here to give you a preview of sorts of the setting for Paladin, at least the side that takes place on earth. As a world-builder, I love this sort of stuff and I hope you will, too. Mystery of Bal-Khaled Located between Mazar-i-Sharif and the Uzbek border, Bal-Khaled is a sleepy, riverside farming town in northern Afghanistan. The presence of a large river tributary and favorable climate have made it a hot spot for opium farms and heroin labs. Its proximity to both the Uzbek and Iranian borders also make it a prime area for illegal crossings and a way station for foreign fighters entering Afghanistan. Thus, Bal-Khaled is a hotbed of insurgent activity in an otherwise secure area of operations. Three companies from US Army 3rd Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment (Stryker) of 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division have been assigned to the region, patrolling for border activity, sweeping for IEDs, destroying opium fields, and searching compounds for insurgents and their assets. The Stryker battalion is supplemented by ODA 739 from the US Army Special Forces and their compliment of both direct action operators and psychological operations professionals. A number of support assets from the US Air Force and ISAF member nations are also on hand. In recent days, the intensity and frequency of attacks on both civilians and ISAF units in the area of operations has increased markedly. With the pending withdrawal of all US combat forces from Afghanistan, ISAF commanders are understandably concerned for the region's security. Cordon and search missions as well as drug stings occur now on an almost nightly basis, with Alpha Company of 3/17 Stryker spearheading the operation. Morale is high, as each night brings newly captured insurgents, better intelligence, and perhaps even a glimpse the operators of ODA 739 in action. But something isn't quite right about 739's operations. The operators seem to have little interest in drug busts and apprehended insurgents. They are searching for something, something that does not belong. But as always, their exact target is classified, leaving the "regular joe" soldiers of 3/17 Styker to scratch their heads and speculate wildly.
