  1. "Hey, watch out there, Coconut!" The red stallion called out, laughing as he leapt over the sprawling tan mare on the ground. "When you challenged me to a race I thought you could at least walk a straight line!" The mare gritted her teeth and surged to her hooves, kicking the loose stone that had betrayed her footing and then racing after the stallion who had just claimed the lead. "I just felt like taking a quick break!" she called back, "After all, not like I'm worried about you winning!" The two ponies raced through the jungle, ducking under low branches, blindly plunging through leaves and ferns, laughing as one, then the other would take advantage. Frond slipped round a corner faster by running up a fallen log to leap over the boulder they were circling, and then Coconut got ahead again by diving through a narrow gap between trees to avoid going around the grove, leaving a few hairs from her coat behind, the fit was so tight. His larger form would never have made it through. Their taunting didn't last long as they soon needed all their breath for the race, neither willing to give an inch to the other. Finally they burst out of the jungle into a clearing, stumbling into a ten foot tall statue of a pony, broken and half-covered in vines. "Whoah, whoah!" Coconut gasped, sliding to a stop, and Frond circled around the clearing, desperately sucking in air. "What is it?" he asked, once he'd gotten in a dozen breaths or so. Coconut circled around with him, looking up into the sky. "Where exactly are we? I've never seen this statue before! Why's there a pegasus statue in the middle of the jungle?" Frond frowned, and craned his neck to try to look past the jungle. "Which way's the volcano?" he asked, also realizing that he had no idea where they were. "I thought we'd have come out on the beach again before now." "Are you sure you were supposed to turn left back at the stream?" "I was just following you." "You turned left first!" "I was just avoiding that spider web that you ran into!" "You're just trying to make excuses since I'm two races ahead, and only one race from a hundred victories!" "Pfft, you wish! I'll take these next three races easy! If we can figure out where we are..." Their playfully bickering voices sounded through the jungle which hadn't seen ponies for at least a decade. Birds took to the sky to fly away from the unfamiliar racket, and prey animals went quiet, waiting to see what these strange creatures would do. And a small, blue lizard stuck its head out of a hole in a tree and skittered along the branch and down the trunk into the bushes. It peeked slowly out of the leaves to see what the ruckus was all about. "Hey, check it out!" Coconut was saying, poking her hoof at the ground, and prying up a long rod. "I think this is a horn." The stone horn was broken at the base, and looking up at the statue, they could see that it fit perfectly onto the rough, broken part at the forehead. "Hey, it's not a pegasus statue ... it's an alicorn statue!" Frond exclaimed. "Let me see that!" He reached out for it, and Coconut drew away. "Hey, I found it! I can put it back!" "I'm the better climber!" "Yeah, and maybe you climb up on it and it breaks under your weight, huh?" They both scrabbled for the horn, which slipped from both their grips and went tumbling into the bushes. Both ponies went diving for it, and there was a terrible shrieking from the bush as they stumbled onto the small blue lizard, which went scampering backwards, eyes glowing a bright silver. "Hey, there's the horn!" Coconut cried, not even noticing the lizard as she squeezed into a narrow space to reach for the broken bit of statuary. There was a sudden silver flash, and suddenly that narrow space was even tighter than before ... Coconut couldn't get out; could hardly breath! The blue lizard scampered away safely, the tan pony unable to reach it now. "Nnngh... Help!" Coconut rasped. "stuck!" Frond grabbed hold of a hoof and pulled, small hooves scrabbling helplessly in the dirt. "Wait," Frond said, confused by the odd angle, voice light. "I think I'm in a hole here..." There was a brief pause as all Coconut could hear was a throat-clearing. "Hole here... hole... what's wrong with my voice? I ... uh ..." Coconut grumbled and planted large tan hooves against the ground, pushing firmly, and with a sudden pop, pulled out of the narrow space and landed heavily on Frond, who collapsed under the larger pony. Coconut stood up, brushing off his large form, "What the heck was - " he started to ask with a deep voice, then stopped. "What the ... why are you so small ... why am I ..." He looked over himself again, and at the pony beneath him. "Why are you a mare?! Why am I a stallion?" Frond stood up, shaking her head to clear it. "I'm a what? What are you talking abou-" she stopped and looked up at the now-taller stallion opposite her, then down at her own leaner form. A set of paired cries of confusion and dismay sounded through the forest, and the lizard grinned its little lizardy face as it slipped away. It looked up at a parrot above it, and its eyes glowed silver once more. Suddenly, the parrot dropped down to the ground, and the blue lizard took off into the sky on brand-new, rainbow-colored wings. There were new creatures in the jungle! Creatures she had never seen before! She wondered what sort of interesting new abilities she could take from them ... It had been a week since their last stopover, a week on the endless sea in a tiny little floating cart. And Doctor Whooves decided that now was the perfect time to teach Trixie how to run the self-propelled contraption."No, see," he tried to explain for the twelfth time. "First you throw this switch. Then you pump this doohickey. THEN you pull this lever once you've brought the pressure up on this gauge... " He waited as Trixie did just as he said, then continued, "Then, when it fails to start, you give it a good KICK!" The words weren't even out of his mouth before Trixie was kicking the engine. "nonono, you don't just kick it without waiting! First you have to wait for it to start for a couple seconds! Then, after a couple heartbeats, THEN you kick it!" He sighed and brought his hoof to his face. "It's all in the timing!" He was so caught up in trying to teach her how to use the cart that he didn't even notice the thin wisp of smoke on the horizon, coming up out of the peak of a volcano just barely visible.
  2. Celestia, the ruler of Equestria for 1000 years, has been presented with a rare opportunity... An entire week of light to no meetings and time where she can relax. This was to the point where she would be able to reschedule most as they were not direly important. And the few that were left her sister would be able to handle it easily. With that Celestia planned her great escape... Okay, not so much great escape so much as "first vacation in over a millennium." Though Celestia resigned herself to still raising the sun every morning, that would be all she would do. And truth be told, it was something she enjoyed doing. Bringing the morning sun to ponies is something she always took great pride in, and she felt it was unfair to force her sister to do that. Celestia remembered well how difficult it was in the beginning to raise both the moon and the sun, and she figured raising the sun would be more difficult for Luna than raising the moon was for her... With that thought in mind Celestia pulled out her map of Equestria. Celestia looked at the map and considered where she wished to go where she could take her crown and regalia off and relax for a while. She considered many places but one caught her eye in particular... The Corralwood Corral. It was perfect, she had been there before and it was a nice relaxing place near the beach with comfortable accommodations. Naturally, Celestia was able to arrange a private villa on the island for her usage during her stay there. It was decided, so she packed her saddle bags, tied her mane back and left her regalia and crown behind. Oh and took Philomena of course. How could Celestia go to a place with a rainforest and not take her pet Phoenix? Celestia used her own wing power to get her there, letting the guards know her plans, and allowing an escort only as far as the outskirts of the mainland. Upon her arrival she immediately dropped her bags off at the villa on the beach. However she was met with an unforeseen surprise... The Canterlot Castle Garrison had pulled a fast one on her and sent a guard ahead to meet her at the villa... Celestia knew this guard, it was Sgt Bonfire, not a pony you would know for their relaxed demeanor. Celestia couldn't do much about it now that he was here, so she set her bags down and addressed the stallion. "Sgt Bonfire, correct?" Celestia started. "As I am sure you have heard, this is supposed to be a relaxing vacation, and while I am sure the garrison had good intentions in sending you here, your presence is not required." Celestia was very stern in her voice. "However, as you are already here and your chariot back will not likely arrive until the end, I must allow you to accompany me. I do have two commands while you are here with me..." Celestia began, she knew what she was doing and she wasn't going to have her vacation ruined by anypony... "First remove all your armor, you will not likely need it here. And second, enjoy yourself. You needn't follow me all hours of the day, take advantage of this time as your own vacation as well." Celestia finished speaking to him. Hopefully he would take the second to heart and not prevent her from enjoying her well deserved and needed vacation. Knowing full well that he would still likely follow, Celestia set off for the local rain forest with her pet whom was busy preening her wings on Celestia's back. Along the path she noticed a few ponies stopping to look at the lovely visage of the sunlight passing through the canopy. Celestia decided to approach them. "Greetings. Are you ponies on vacation as well?" Celestia mad a brief somewhat informal greeting to the group of ponies.

    Sand, Sun and Surf!

Early Morning on Gallopocus Island, A time before the beaches were overly crowded and the surfers were few. Morning had begun and as far as Blue Bolt could tell, today was going to be just another day on the island. She took a deep breath as she stood on one of the beaches – a Storm was supposed to reach the island in a few days time and she’d arrived early to hang out and take in the familiar sights and activities of her island home. One of her favorites, of course, was ‘surfing’; that is, riding the air currents above the water with the waves. She spotted a larger wave gathering not far from shore, perfect for surfing, and spread her wings, taking flight to go greet the wave with a grin. “All right den, wave. Do your worst, mon!" she challenged it, turning quickly back towards shore as the current created by the wave pushed at her wings and she fought it to stay on top of the water. Her style of surfing might not be typical, but it was good pratice and fun all in one!

    The Strand (G.E. South)

The Strand (G.E. South) The southern coast of Equestria's main continent is framed by its famous white-sand beaches and dotted with fishing hamlets. Here the great open prairie and breadbasket known as the Saddleveil Plains lies dotted with splendid cities such as Fillydelphia, and Hoofington. Celestia's domain spreads even further south with the various exotic tropical Gallopocus Islands that extend almost to the lands of the Zebras. Cities of the Strand Fillydelphia - Sitting in the middle of the vast Saddleveil Plain, the city is a transport hub between the Heartland of Equestria and the Griffon lands beyond, Fillydelphia is a mid-sized urban area populated by artisans, small business, and light industry workers. With its old fashioned look and feel, Fillydelphia occupies a comfortable middle ground between the big-city bustle of Manehattan and the small-town charm of Ponyville. Baltimare - One of Equestria's preeminent ports, the affluent city of Baltimare is regarded as a major center of trade with Unyasi and the Gallopocus Islands. Tourists come to the city to board luxury cruise liners and see the famous Baltimare Boardtrot. Corralwood Corral - Equestria's ultimate tropical resort, Corralwood Corral is the most significant center of population in the Gallopocus Islands. Famous for its perfect beaches and upscale resorts, Corralwood Corral is well regarded as a prime spot for tourists. Major Natural Features Saddleveil Plains – A vast, rolling temperate grasslands punctuated by small islands of deciduous trees, the Saddleveil Plains stretches the entire length of the Strand. Most of the land is fertile and well watered, making it ideal for agriculture with all manner of farms spouting from the nearly featureless landscape. West of the Manebrush river, the plains become drier and are much better suited for grazing; many buffalo tribe wander this otherwise very sparely populated portion. Gallopocus Islands - A large grouping of islands several miles off the coast of the mainland, the Gallopocus are dominated by mountains, the greatest of which is the now extinct Thunderhoof Volcano. Hardened lava and black sand beaches play host to a wide variety of tropical flora and fauna, while small pony and hippogriff settlements adorn the coast of the various islands, the largest of which is Corralwood Corral, which serves as the central trade hub and tourist playground for the island chain. Mustangia - An open prairie that holds the richest soil in all of Equestria. Here the ponies choose to live simple lives eschewing cities and modern amenities instead deciding to be farmers or simple individuals who live entirely in tune with the wild. Okeanos - An ancient city lost to a devastating storm and submerged beneath the ocean, Okeanos is said to be full of mysteries. Adventurous ponies are known to seek the city out in hopes of unearthing its secrets. Other geographical features The coast of the Strand is punctuated by various bays. The largest of all of Equestria's bays, the Seasaddle, sits just north of the Gallopocus Islands. Known for its abundant warm, clean water and rich fisheries, Seasaddle is also the busiest body of water in all of Equestria. In addition to the largest, Seasaddle, there is also the much quieter Suntrot Bay, as well as the White Cafe Bay, the outwash for the large Manebrush River that services Fillydelphia. One of the most scenic locations in this coastal region is the Bridleback Shore, a vast beach area between Suntrot and Seasaddle that is home to many ancient ruins of mystery and legend. Another famed feature of the region is Mount Fire Foal, unlike its taller cousin, Mount Thunderhooves, Fire Foal is still an active volcano, and offers a spectacle of flaming light and color in both day and night as bright lava regularly spews froth from its fiery crater; fortunately there are no nearby settlements in danger from this cauldron of lava.
  5. The Gallopocus Island's weather was always hot and sticky, it was a tropical island after all. The plants relished in the moisture. Green was abound everywhere, from the treetops in the canopy to the floor of the forest. There was many different animals going about their daily lives in this green heaven. Their calls and cries combined to make a sort of peaceful and very serene background noise. This was shattered intermittently by a rather rhythmic “PING" coming from somewhere in the distance. These strikes came at regular intervals just a tad slower than a moderate walking speed. If one were to listen closely they would be able to her a faint melody twisting and twirling its way around these sharp and harsh strikes. There was a metallic quality to the strikes that was alien to the very natural environment that they were pealing through. They may have been strange and alien but they were definitely the cadence that the lighter more familiar tune was using to keep its self in time. A quick walk through the forest in the direction of the tune and the cries of metal a small shop could be found. The whistle was emanating from there and so were the strikes of metal on metal. It was not a large shop, but then again not too small. Two stores in the main part seemed to be embedded into the side of the mountain that sheerly rose up into the clouds. There was a small house connected to the shop, this was also embedded into the face of the cliff. Large white barn doors were open on the front of the Shop and the whistling poured out of there. The inside of the shop was dingy, dusty, and most of all dark with smoke and soot. There were four forges in the shop proper. The two towards the front were normal forges, albeit large but they had two stage billows and up-draft chimneys. The two towards the back, however, seemed to be of a different sort. They looked like that they were almost part of the mountain that formed the back wall of the shop. Formed out of the stone and fired by an unknown source. Flames leaped from the maw of one of these forges. Before this forge stood a truly massive pony. He wore an odd smirk on is face as he watched the fire heat some unknown object. He retrieved a pair of tongs and quickly pulled the almost white hot metal out of the forge, the front edge of which sparked and sizzled in protest of the sudden temperature change. He roughly placed the wedge shaped metal onto the anvil that was close at hand. He reared up on his hind legs, he stood rather tall for a pony. He made sure that his aim was dead on and brought a hoof down on the steaming lump of metal. “CLANG!" Sparks flew out in all directions. Again. “PING!" The metal seemed to be protesting this beating. And again.“CLING!" The colour of the metal had changed from white hot to a dull red. He returned to all fours and put the metal back in the furnace. He looked away from the furnace and sighed. He wiped his brow with a dirty piece of cloth and smiled up into the rafters of his shop. “Akh lookin' mer an mer leek ahn acks ain't eet?" His voice boomed over the shop. It seemed from years and years of working in very loud conditions he had forgotten how to talk softly. “Yah yah, dat stheel iz herd tah geet tah co-up-er-ate bah unce et dahs. Ye gut ahn acks dat wheel last ya fer-evah." His voice was up-beat and bright in comparison to his surroundings, the“R's" rolling ever so slightly. He chuckled at his unseen companion before returning to his work. The whistling and the cadence of metal on metal soon filled the shop and the surrounding area yet again.
  6. Hey guys, I'm itching to use my character Trinket and before I opened up a thread with her on Gallopocous Island I wanted to see if anyone wanted to volunteer their adult - to older ponies to be her care giver? Her dad is a sailor pony and often selling merchant for the main land. He's gone for very long periods of time, no name is given and I'd like it to stay that way. Just like how in cartoons you never see the parents face or something? Sorta like that. Whoever would be taking care of her would be looking out for her because the dad is a good friend and the wife/mom left them when Trinket was just born. Any pony who ideally runs a souvenir shop would be super golden because trinket would love making things to help out with the store and making cute little goodies she finds on her adventures. The rest of it is open book, so long as they live in Coralwood Corral. Just figured the position was very open, I didn't feel like making a pony to fit it, maybe somepony else would like too? C:
