sweet apple acres Zap's First Year (Apples and friends)
Hippogriff posted a topic in Greater Equestria
It had almost been a year, already. Zap was growing up so fast. It wouldn't be too long before his upbringing becomes the responsibility of other ponies living in Ponyville. In the time he has lived in the world he has learned to walk and begin talking. He even had short episodes in which he could fly before his bone mass kept him from hovering indefinitely. When harvest time came, he learned what apples trees look like and how big they are. He has learned that rosebush thorns cause pain when touched, but he has also learned how soft and warm Granny's quilt can be. He barely remembered what it was like when there was snow still on the ground until the white stuff returned, but he is well acquainted with the discomfort from being outside for too long when it is really hot. Seasons for Zap Apple were not a rhythm. To him they were just things that happened with no understanding of the concept. He remembers a strange evening called Nightmare Night, what a fun adventure that was, but he was not aware it will come again. He has experienced everything a year can offer, but he has only experienced them once. And he could not be more entertained. He was busy playing with his toys in the living room at Sweet Apple Acres. He could hear commotion going on in the kitchen, hearing his mother's voice, and Nan-nan's voice too. Big Mac was probably outside doing work, he could think, and Apple Bloom wasn't usually around until later in the day, because of something called school, but her voice could be heard anyway. It seemed like a special day, but he was not sure why. And before he could think about it further, he just had a great idea on how he can further play with his toys. For the past few days he had been trying to beat his record for how high he could stack blocks. His toy blocks, which had symbols written on them, some letters some animals, were mostly useful for stacking. A practical use need not be necessary, Zap had fun trying to stack them as high as he could. In previous attempts he had stood on chairs to place blocks higher. Another time, he stood atop Uncle Big Mac in order to reach the top of his towers of wooden blocks. This time he would try even higher, towards the height of the ceiling. He starting stacking the blocks one by one, humming a song his mother taught him while doing it. -
Roleplay Type: WoE Name: Big McIntosh Sex: Male Age: Stallion Species: Earth Pony Eye colour: Green Coat: Red Mane/Tail: Honeysuckle Physique: Burly Residence: Ponyville Occupation: Apple Farmer, Singer Cutie Mark: Half-Cut Green Macintosh Unique Traits: Workhorse: Strong build and bred to work McIntosh comes from a long line of Apple farmers. He can pull and carry weight more than three times his own with little effort, putting him on part with most professional construction ponies. This also includes a skillful hoof in repairing buildings, tools, and other items around the farm. Bass: Being of such a heavy vocal range Big Mac can hit the bass range and has place in the Pony Tones as a professional singer. Farmer: Being he is a farmer he has a natural green-hoof and can care for many types of crops, excelling in his family’s main crops of Apple Trees. History: Born of Bright Mac and Pear Butter he is the oldest of his siblings all general responsibilities around the farm fall to him. He’s spent his entire life on the farm, but that is not to say he has not travelled, as his main responsibility is delivery of the goods to other parts of Equestria as well as making the barn and homestead are in tip top shape. He has learned from his family how to tend to his farm, the majority of his smarts coming from his granny whom he works to make sure she stays on her rocking chair at this age! He is, in practice, in charge of the family second to Granny Smith. This, unfortunately at times, meant he had to keep an eye on his little sister Applejack who, in her youth, could lie til the cows came home. And it was so seeing as the cows were always the bulk of her responsibility. It took a lot of brothering to ensure the wild Jack learned some sense, but that didn't mean he didn't support her when she needed it. As they grew so did their work on the farm. When Apple Bloom was born there was hardly I'm between the new foal and chores! But Mac didn't regret any of it. Leaning he had the voice needed by the Pony Tones his helping out eventually landed him as a member. He's met many ponies and made many friendships throughout his life. Because of his work he is quite good at speaking with other ponies, only if it is because he lets them do all the talking… he has met the princesses of Equestria and has even teamed up with Princess Luna during a carnival, one year, in Ponyville. He has participated in the Annual Sisterhooves Social to help poor Apple Bloom out of a bind and has even gone as far as make a fool of himself to impress a mare he fancied. All and all while McIntosh had lived on the farm all his life: there was little that kept him from experiencing the wide world of Equestria. Character Personality: An easy going figure who stands opposite to his hot blooded sister. He is close to his sisters, strongly bonded to them and willing to do anything to make them happy. Although he is a pony of few words that does not mean he will not speak up when push come to shove, if left as the only voice of reason in the room. Shy when it comes to romance he often has trouble finding ways to express his more heartfelt feelings to outsiders. Character Summary: A hard working, rounded earth pony who works hard and spends his free time playing O&O or singing with the Pony Tones he is a helpful pony who never turns away a friend, or stranger, in need, even if he will question it on occasion. He's an experienced farmer, well liked and well socialized and always willing to lend a helping hoof.

People that saw my Pinkie Pie sign wanted to see another one so I made one that could possibly be used for a babies room. The sign part is reversible and says "Sleeping". The wood parts together measure about 8"x11", with the chain it's probably about 13" tall. This was made using a dremel, hand sanded and hand painted.© RyuNeko-Artzcom

Her steps were always pre-naturally bouncy and excitable, almost as if she was a coiled spring constantly trying to outdo herself. The fact was that for some reason most fillies her age were seemingly huge bundles of energy that were so often pent up that release came in the form of neigh-intelligible gibberish and excitedness. But today even the promised normal relief of chores after school and the rigors of recess failed to even slow Apple Bloom down because on this day few things could. Oh, she didn't expect anything big- it was harvest season and the family was simply too busy to take some time off, or so Big Mac had said. Applejack had been absent from the conversation for some strange reason but the result was the same: A sad Apple Bloom who nonetheless was comforted by the warm thoughts of a warm fire, surrounded by family at night under a clear sky. It may not have been the most exciting of all possibilities but it was still a wonderful one. As befit this most glorious of days, the weather was pristine as she hopped down the trails in Sweet Apple Acres heading home. What more could she have asked for than this? It may not have been a shiny gift but a clear, sunny, happy day was almost as wonderful as a toy stable set. The apples leaked off an aroma most alluring and the small animals that roamed the orchard seemed to have smiles hung up on their faces in a nearly artificial manner. Today's happiness and good feelings were spread all around Equestria probably. At the very least anyone within a hundred miles could feel the bundled energy and joy that radiated off of Apple Bloom in an almost visually perceptible manner. That would be a strong aid to her as though the evening and night promised some relaxation and happiness, harvest demanded work and her sister wasn't about to see the crop fail because of one day. She had told Apple Bloom to meet up in the barn after school so they could decide what they were to do that day and while Apple Bloom wasn't a fan of extremely hard work, she also had more fun with her sister on their work days than she had with just about anypony else on any other day at any time anywhere. Plus, it was Apple Bloom's birthday! "Ah'm 'ere, Applejack! Sorry Ah's late, Ah was held up bah Cheerilee fo' tha silliest reason. Ya think she'd-" She began as she approached the barn door, the top half of which was opened wide- a bit too tall for her, though- and opened it, continuing her speech until-

Okay, thing is, I work at a company where I frequently need to read off examples of letters, i.e. 'D for Dog' or 'P for Pony' I REAALLY want to have a pony reference for each letter. Big Macintosh Name: Well, the names Big Macintosh, but reckon ya'alls can call me Big Mac. Some even use Big Red, but plain ol' 'Mac' works too! Sex: Ah'm pretty sure ah'm a Male, last ah checked! Age: Ah'd be grown 'young' Stallion, Eeeyup, an' still very much at mah best condition, too! Species: A proud earth pony - A real 'Salt of the earth' kinda pony, an' wouldn't change that for anythin'! Pelt Color: Looks to me like a nice apple red...heh, s'pose life jus' kinda has a sense of humor that way, eh? Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Ah'd hazard a guess at A kinda weird brownish blonde...Ah'm no arty pony, though, so s'hard to say. Did you just ask how Ah Style mah mane? Pfft, this is an apple farm - Ah got no time for fancy manestylin's! Ah prefer to jus' go out rough'n'ready in the mornin's, an' it works for me! ... Well, okay...Mah tail *is* trimmed regularly t'keep it outta the way of mah workin' on the farm, but that's it for me! Eye Color: Heh, whaddya know...Gala apple green! Cutie Mark: Well, it's half an apple - but that don't mean I put half-flanked effort in, let me tell ya'all now! Physique: Workin; on the farm can give a stallion quite a workout...Now ah don't like t'toot my own bugle, but Ah'm quite the stocky male - certainly don't think there's many ponies who look quite like ah do, even if that's just my say so! Origin: Well, what'm I gonna say here? Born n'raised on the apple family farm - didn't know much else beyond what the ol' folks wanted from us...sure, ah went to school an' got an edumacation there, but other than that, pop wanted me t'follow in the family ways, way even before applejack was a twinkle in an eye. Ah worked mah rump off alongside pa an' ma an' helped buck apples from the trees, tended to the other crops we plant now an' then, as well as helpin' around wi' anythin' else they wanted me to do at the time - when they finally retired to other pastures new, ah offered up to take over the general maintenance of the farm in their stead alongside Applejack...an' it's been runnin' jus' fine ever since - minus a few l'il hiccups here an' there, o'course! Ponies ask me about mah cutie mark a lot for some reason - well, Ah'll say this much about it:- Ah was brought up as an apple farmers son, on an apple farm, plain an' simple. Ah've Been buckin' apples for jus' about as long as mah hooves could be on the ground an' keep me up, so it wasn't any surprise t'see that on one day when ah was asked to buck a full day on mah own, Ah did it fast an' I did it better than anypony coulda seen comin' for a youngster mah age. Ah get back to the farmhouse, an' on mah rump it turned out that the hallmark of the apple family, an apple-centric cutie mark, had appeared. Eeeyup, it's not big or fancy as a story...but that's how it happened! S'just the tale of a pony who took up the mantle his family had born him into. Heh, Sorry if that ain't excitin' or anythin' for ssome of you ponies, but that's the way life slices the apple sometimes! Roleplay Type: Mane RP, Ah reckon! Occupation: As ah said before, mah role is the general upkeep an' workin's of Apple Acres - anythin' that Applejack doesn't normally take care of, you'll usually see mah rump taking care of. Eeyup, She's a real trooper, that one - but a mite bit stubborn at times! Motivation: Mah motivation, ah guess, is to keep th'farm runnin' right up 'til ah'm old an' grey - the ponies in ponyville buy a lot of our apples, an' it's a major source of both food for them as well as bein' our vital source of bits. As for mah own motivation...well, The thought of the farm bein' left to rot is a notion ah don't like to entertain if it can be helped, so mah personal goal is t'just do everythin' possible t'prevent that from happenin'. As for anythin' else beyond that, Hmm...Ah guess I'll jus' keep mah options open for right now... The future's still a'comin regardless either way, after all! Likes: Well, for a start Ah like books - Jus' cause mah life is on a farm doesn't mean ah don't try an' get cultured. After that, I reckon ah'm a big fan of music, alongside a good healthy dose of applebuckin'...some ponies may see it as hard work, but for me there ain't nothin' more fulfillin' than knowin' ah can buck them apples down hard an' fast! { An' perhaps ah have a bad habit of makin' bad apple-related jokes sometimes - but secretly, ah kinda like doin' it! } Dislikes: Ah don't much care for lazy ponies - it can irk mah nerve when somepony shirks their work...heck, ah've even shooed off that pegasus from Ponyville a few times - ah think her names Rainbow Crash...Oh, wait - Rainbow Dash...from atops a few trees before when she's taken a snooze up there whilst on weather duty. Also, mah sister Applejack can be a l'il hotheaded - ya'all saw what happened a while back when she tried t'take on the whole apple orchard, so ya'all know what she can get like! Bad apples, too - ah'm not fond of when bad apples ruin things...an' you can take that as figuramatively as you want! Character Summary: Ah'm a fairly Stoic Stallion, for the most part - ah let actions tend to speak the loudest for me...sometimes ah guess it's pushed too far, 'cause it was mah overworkin' that led to that whole injury (That's mah story anyway, an' ah stick to that!} Tried t'keep an eye on mah personal pacing after that, but ah jus' don't like t'be inactive for too long...bein' a workin' farm stallion, there's usually somethin' for me to be doin'. 'Course, if there's somethin' for me to say, Ah'll let it be known - ain't no point bottlin' the important things up... Overall, mah life is pretty good - ah keep an eye on Granny Smith as well as l'il apple bloom...an' with lookin' after the pair of 'em alongside Applejack, as well as lookin' after the farm, ah guess mah hooves are pretty full at times. But Ah'll always remember the phrase mah pa' told me as a young colt...an' it helps me keep mah bearings! " When life hands y'apples, make apple juice - Everythin' works out for the best in time if ya work hard at it! "
