Life was funny sometimes. At times it could be so laughably simple and unbearably routine, at others a confusing, incoherent mess that was impossible to figure out. For Radiant Steel, fresh faced private with REA Garrison force, it could so very frequently be both at the same time. Perhaps the pegasus just had an unfortunate habit of over-thinking everything, but despite having been for all accounts tethered her whole life to the same few names, faces, locations and expectations Radiant found that she so often just couldn't quite piece it all together. The introduction of new pieces to the puzzle could only make things more confusing. She had met Seeker in the Whitetail Woods. She had helped him find and rescue his dog Blacky. Helping ponies was part of her job description; she honestly wouldn't have expected it to go beyond that initial encounter. Seeker had had different ideas though; in reward for her help, he had prepared for her a spectacular. Following that the two ponies had went with Blacky to the park to spend the evening enjoying one another's company. Radiant still wasn't sure how to feel about what had happened. That's not to say a lot did happen-- the day was about as relaxing as was imaginable. A number of Radiant's fellow soldiers and even her own brother had labeled it a "date" though, and Radiant wasn't entirely sure that wasn't the right word-- dating wasn't something the mare was all together familiar with. The events had kind of felt like she had imagined dates to feel though, and regardless it had been an entirely pleasant experience for her. If nothing else, Seeker (and Blacky) could now be counted among the select few Radiant considered friends. The mare just wasn't sure how to feel about this beyond that. The sun was on the rise and she was standing at the main entrance to the city of Canterlot wearing her golden armor. A night had passed and now Seeker was to leave. She was to see him off that morning. Was that is? Was this to just be a fleeting encounter, something of which nothing became? Radiant didn't know for certain, and somehow not knowing left her feeling kind of empty. What happened next? Anything? Or was it just back to the same routine, the pony she had spent the previous evening with gone to only be a memory in her head? The mystery of it all hung heavy with her, but in that moment she supposed it didn't really matter all that much. She was here to see Seeker off. When it came to whatever it was that might happen after that, she'd just have wait and see. She'd deal with it all as it came.

It was still dark, the sun barely lightening the horizon. Nocturna was already present at the entrance into the Wind Shear Passage. A huge cloud with a small building was flying infront of the gaping maw of the mountain which was the canyon. During the winter days it looked even more scary. In that building the manager of this event was waiting for her, so he could assign a supervisor to their team, who also acts as leader to bring everypony home safely. Nocturna had to check in at the start of the passage earlier than the rest of the team. Unfortunetaly it didn't go according to plan. Later when the sun was finally peeking over the edge of the horizon the snow was glowing beautifully. The blue mare waited for all of her team to arrive. "Team" - she wouldn't really call it like that. They were a random bunch of ponies and a griffon who all wanted to gain the Descent Medal for passing the Wind Shear Passage in three days or less. Some she knew, most she didn't. At least she could be certain all of them are decent flyers - one who wasn't wouldn't attempt this challenge. "Well guys. It seems like our supervisor is sick and there is no replacement. Nopony else wants to be responsible for a group attempting a challenge like this", she bowed her head down in defeat. Was that already the end of the journey? Then suddenly the manager appeared and put a badge on Nocturnas side bag. "I heard you are a Shadowbolt, so I assign you hereby the leader of this group, we will supervise the time differently. Have a nice journey." "Wait, you cannot just... I cannot take this responsi- ...". Before she could properly respond he flew away. "Oh dear Celestia...", she put a hoof on her face and sighed, turning around to the group and looking at them with a puzzled look. They might not be able to see it but Nocturna suddenly felt not that great about the challenge anymore. "Eh heh... ", her self-confidence crumbled for the moment.

Flour, Eggs, and a Pinch of Adventure! (EoLPinkie & ShadowStorm)

"Bye everypony, thanks for coming!" Pinkie Pie called from her loft above Sugarcube Corner as she hung out her window. Her guests were filing out into nighttime Ponyville below, and the room behind her was littered with the remains of cake, streamers, confetti, and all varieties of party paraphernalia. As the last of her friends faded into the darkness, the pink earth pony pulled back inside and clicked the window shut. With a pleased smile she trotted over to her bed and lovingly nudged her pet alligator Gummy with her nose. He acknowledged the gesture with a wide, toothless yawn. "Another successful celebration Gummy!" Pinkie said happily, bouncing onto her sheets with enthusiasm. "Everypony said I couldn't find a reason to throw a party today, but they sure didn't bet on Cheerilee being nominated teacher of the year for the fourth time in a row! Isn't that super exciting?!" Gummy had apparently stopped listening a while ago, and was snoring loudly on a pillow. Taking that as a sign that it was late, his owner curled up under the blankets after dowsing the lights. After all, tomorrow was a brand new day full of fun! When Pinkie woke under the warm rays of the morning sun, her bright blue eyes popped open as she squealed in excitement. She trounced out of bed and zoomed around her room, kicking up the previous night's decorations in her zeal. "What should we party about today?! Nopony has a birthday, and I don't think anypony is nominated for anything..." She put a hoof to her lip and flopped to her haunches on the floor. "This calls for the," she glanced around furtively, making sure no one was listening before whispering, "Super Duper Secret Book of Partying." Tiphoofing over to a picture of a party hat on a rainbow background, Pinkie almost tripped over her party cannon. She giggled before swinging the painting aside and reaching in for a large tome that nopony would ever have expected the hyperactive pink party animal to own. After pulling the cover open with her teeth, she sat in front of the text and began reading. Every once in a while she'd laugh or snicker, but it wasn't until she hit a page toward the end that her eyes went as wide as dinner plates. "Oooooooh, the Joy Blossom!" she read in awe. "Anypony who eats this rarest of flowers is instantly filled with an intense euphoria that lasts for days. They are said to bloom whenever a pony overcomes a great trial of doubt and sadness in their presence. The last known field was spotted beyond the Badlands..." "Huh," Pinkie finished, quirking a brow a replacing her book. "I don't know anypony that's been out that far. But if it's for the best cake ingredient I can think of, that's where I'm going!" she rallied with a confident smile. "Maybe somepony in town knows where to go!" With a quick nuzzle to Gummy the pony bounced down the stairs and out into Ponyville, searching for anyone who could help her with her quest.
