Name: Slye 'Tails' Fox
Sex: Female
Age: Filly
Species: Pegasus
Pelt Color: Orange
Mane/Tail Color(s) & Style: Orange mane and tail. Her tail has white tips on the end. She often has her tail in two separate ponytails. Usually fairly straight, maybe a little wavy at times. Her tail reaches about halfway down her leg, and her mane is half that length.
Eye Color: Light blue
Cutie Mark: A red heart with a quill pen lying over it.
Physique: Slim, she flies a lot so is able to keep fit.
Residence: In a cloud home near Cloudsdale.
Occupation: Traveling counselor
Motivation: Slye's Cutie Mark represents her love for other ponies, and also how she believes that love is a very serious thing. The quill represents her love of writing and reading.
Likes: Reading, writing, small animals, playing instruments
Dislikes: Ponies who don't listen to reason, most vegetables, misbehaving foals, sports
Character Summary: Slye was born to Blue Jay and Apple Brandy. Blue Jay is a snowflake making pony, while Apple Brandy works at a fancy bar down in Canterlot. The family commonly goes by the second part of their name, even with their closest friends. That is why Slye is often called Fox instead. She has earned the nickname Tails, because of the way she parts her tail, it often appears like she has two.
The Slye part of her name comes more from her mother. Her mom was always a bit of a smooth talker, and she hoped that her daughter would learn to reflect her way and wit with words. Fox comes from her father, as well as her colors. Her father always loved nature, and because she looked a bit like one, he chose the name Fox for her.
Fox was always trying to find her place in school, never really having many friends and not being very social. But she found that she could be a good listener, and so she was able to observe other ponies and learn about their lives. She'd give advice to those that asked, but not many ponies knew her. Slye kept a journal while she was in school, and it became her closest companion throughout her life.
She was sly, yes, but not in the way her mother had intended. Slye was good at eavesdropping. She wouldn't go out of her way to listen to a conversation, of course. But if a group of ponies wanted to talk within her earshot, she'd listen to what they had to say. In this way, she was able to learn a lot about others and their habits, and it helps her now to better understand what ponies are going through.
Slye got her Cutie Mark when she helped her first 'patient'. Her heart went out to the poor pony, and it was as if she could feel just what they were going through, like she had experienced it herself. She took note of important things that the pony said, in order to look over them later in case she needed a clue as to how to help this pony with their troubles.
When it was all said and done, the two said good-bye, Slye having worked with the pony using kindness and understanding. After they'd gone, Slye noticed that her Cutie Mark had appeared. She'd been so caught up in helping the other pony, she hadn't noticed. But she knew now that it was her destiny to help others. Even though she'd spent most of her childhood alone, it was time to break from her shell for the betterment of other ponies.
(Don't really want to set this in stone in case somepony wants to play this particular pony and have a previous acquaintance with Slye.)
Terribly sweet, yet logical, Slye tries to find the good in all creatures. She believes there are commonly reasons for why ponies act mean or shy, whether it just stems from their upbringing, or if there is something deeper in their past. She loves to give advice and try to help out anypony with a problem. Since she travels, she's willing to help anypony anywhere, all anypony has to do is send her a letter requesting her services. She tries to wait and see both sides of an argument before drawing conclusions about one pony or another. Slye will never turn away anypony that can't pay if she can help it.
Slye also loves children, though she has none of her own. She commonly brings her guitar with her on her travels, and can be seen in town squares playing for fun with her guitar case open for bits. Slye is still young and has much to learn about the world. She keeps a journal of her travels, and another one of her own self discovery. At home, she has a few more journals, full up of her life story up to now.
She decided to take up guitar to help occupy her mind, because she often felt lonely sitting at home by herself. Fox was able to take lessons down in Canterlot after school, and would fly home with her mother after she got off work. She also learned to play the Ukulele, because it was a similar instrument. She is also good at singing, and her musical talent makes her a hit with the foals.
Fox also has a terrible sweet tooth, but her love of apples helps to counteract that. She also has a secret desire to play in a band, but she's pretty sure that's never going to happen. Fox likes where her life is headed for now.

Even without the flying, you still have too many similarties. I think the 'Tails' and the split tails thing needs to go. She can still be called Fox, and she can keep the coloring, but the two tails thing just doesn't seem like something that would be seen in Equestria, and in all honesty unless it was pigtails, it wouldn't really be noticeable anyway because pony tails wouldn't fall like that. They're more like dangling strings than flexible and malleable tails, so if they were parted, she'd just end up with a really weird looking butt.

I would have to agree with Skye.  It seems like a crossover riddled character just doesn't really fit the bill well enough from an equestria standpoint.  I was guilty of this as well (Spyro), but more I realized it, I found I couldn't successfully create a reasonable character inspired by another without creating it too similar.  For me, a normal Sypro dragon character in a crossover RP would be the only thing that would suffice.

The visualization of this character is a little hard for me, even though I know where it's coming from.

:/ I'm not really a huge Sonic fan, and not real familiar with the character histories so reading through this. . . other than the coloring and the choice to keep her tail tied into two pigtails. . . I'm having a hard time understanding how much of this character is crossover. Because as I'm reading it, I'm just not finding anything that wouldn't work within Equestria.

Unrelated to what I said previous, her character summery doesn't seem to mesh with her cutie mark and her cutie mark doesn't seem to mesh with her name. Her name is "Slye Fox," but her cutie mark is about love and writing. Since you said in her summery she's good at eavesdropping, wouldn't a more appropriate special talent/cutie mark have to do with being sneaky? Plus, the only mention of writing was that she keeps a journal. Then, there's that whole bit about being good at guitar, though I understand if it's just a hobby.

Basically, a bit of her name, and her colors, are pretty much all that's crossover, honestly. She's not meant to be a direct crossover, just sort of a slight reference.

Her name is what her parents named her originally. It relates to her talent and look. Her eavesdropping helps her to learn about others, and therefore to better relate to those she's counseling, because she's seen the inside of different situations, while taking no part in them. (You know, like when you hear snippets in the grocery store or doctors office about serious matters that really don't concern you, but that are loud enough to hear, and may or may not be serious, or school drama involving several persons.)
Her writing helps her learn about herself, and in doing so, be able to better relate to other ponies. Because she was shy, and still is a bit today, she can relate to anti-social foals who are having trouble fitting in, because she herself did. Her job as a counselor may also require her to write down important things that are said.
She has a big heart, and while she cares for those whom she counsels, she tries not to get too close unless it's necessary. She knows she'll need to move on as soon as the client is one their way to recovering from whatever issue, big or small, they may have. She knows that while she may be an important pony in another ponies life at the moment, years down the road, she won't matter in their life, if they even remember her. So she's guarded, but caring.

She is good at guitar, but she does it for fun. It's not her destined calling.

Which is what Slye's name actually turned out to mean, from a comment above.

Is this not good enough?
