[Celestia's School] The Magic Counselor Is In (Open to Magic Students & Faculty, All Others PM to Join)

The air! So fresh, so sweet, Silt breathed it in greedily. And the view! The colt never had a fear of heights, and he strained against the railing to see everything he could. [colour=#006400]"It's beautiful!"[/colour] he exclaimed, thoroughly excited. He could see the pegasus' city of Cloudsdale, and a small town that he guessed was Ponyville. Neither one was a place he had been to yet and he wondered if, after he was done here, he might head that way to explore. Cloudsdale might be out of his reach, but Ponyville surely wasn't.

[colour=#006400]"Astronomy classes?"[/colour] Silt wondered at the possibility of taking them. He had learned, from his mother, how to navigate based on the stars. But he felt a curiosity arise whenever he looked at the night sky and knew there was more to the shining lights that decorated the night sky. [colour=#006400]"I think I'd like that. Any outdoor class, really."[/colour]

Silt was so full of questions about anything he could lays eyes on and he was sure Miss Marie could answer most of them, but he remembered what he was here for and with some difficulty tore his eyes away from the scenery to sit before Miss Marie. He smiled as he contently waited for her to continue.

Fire heart was amazed at such a reaction by the others watching her. It must have been the same feeling her mother experienced dancing on a stage in front of hundreds of ponies. She gave a little bow to the ponies watching her as the fire writing faded away.

[colour=#ff0000]"Thanks all of you. I really worked hard on that one. It's harder to write with fire than it looks. [/colour][colour=#ff0000]And yes Professor Magic, most of my spells are related to my talent of creating and controlling fire. I can also of course move objects aroun as well as a few spells I learned in school, but that's about it." [/colour]

[colour=#0000FF]"And you have quite a knack for fire magic, my dear!" [/colour]Hoofcourt neighed as he clapped his front hooves. [colour=#0000FF]"Of course, you do have much more to learn, and as my apprentice, you will do precisely that!"[/colour]

[colour=#008000]"Ja!" [/colour]Professor Krashkop added. [colour=#008000]"If anyvone can teach ya about magic, ol' blue boy can!"[/colour]

[colour=#0000FF]"Articulate as ever, Clyde!" [/colour]the elderly unicorn laughed.

[colour=#FF0000]"You two are always kidding each other," [/colour]Mighty Magic giggled. [colour=#FF0000]"I can still remember how you two used to prank each other when I was little."[/colour]

[colour=#8B4513]"Really?" [/colour]Abracadabra asked.

[colour=#800080]"Nevermind that, mum, I want to see more magic!" [/colour]Misty neighed. [colour=#800080]"Seeing great magic really gives me a lift!"[/colour]

As she spoke, Misty's horn flashed and soon the petite unicorn mare began floating off the floor.

[colour=#008000]"Wonderba! Dat's a great trick!" [/colour]Professor Krashkop shouted.

[colour=#800080]"But this is no trick! I didn't mean to do this! I can't get back down! HELP!" [/colour]Misty shouted as she her legs flailed while she began rising higher and higher in the air.

As Ingrid Marie expected, Silt Treble made the most of his visit to the top of the spire by looking upon all the landscape. The observation area once again proven its worth as a means of wowing visitors, having done so previously a week ago with that friend of Miss Heart... Spirit Flame her name was? Anyway, Ingrid simply nodded as the young colt expressed an interest in outdoor classes; while there was no guarantee that he’d get one in his first year should he make the cut, every effort is typically made to assign classes based on students’ personal interests.

Once Silt decided to bring his attention back to Counselor Marie, she addressed him once more. [colour=#008080]“Now then, I have two very important things for you to look over,” [/colour]she said, levitating the pamphlet and the signup sheet towards the colt;[colour=#008080] “The pamphlet you’ve received will tell you in brief about this school, its history, the various buildings, and how to prepare for the entrance exam. That other sheet is for signing you up for the exam; you’ll be given selections as to what available testing dates we have, so please pick a date that you know for certain you can attend. Do you have any questions, or do you want time to read through what I’ve given you?”[/colour]

[colour=#ff0000]"Yeah, I know I have much to learn still, and I thank you for teaching that to me Professor Magic."[/colour]

Just then the pony named Misty wanted to see something else from the red unicorn. Before Fire could think of something, the pony suddenly started lifting into the air! From what she said, the pony wasn't actually wanting to do the spell, rather it was just happening. Then Fire remembered back at Counselor Marie's office and the strange magic that happened.

[colour=#ff0000]"Hang on Misty," [/colour]Fire said, [colour=#ff0000]"I'll get you down."[/colour]

With a flicker of her horn she focused on the aloft pony, trying to pull her back to the ground. But as much as she focused on her telekinesis, she couldn't.

[colour=#ff0000]"I can't pull her back down by myself. I need help." [/colour]

[Mojo]

[colour=#008000]"Ack! Uneemal!" [/colour]Professor Krashkop shouted as he flew up to where Misty was floating and tried to pull her down by her hind legs. [colour=#008000]"Dis isn't vorking too vell!"[/colour]

[colour=#0000FF]"C'mon family, let's help Fire Heart and old Fuss'n Feathers!" [/colour]Hoofcourt shouted as his horn began to glow. Likewise, Mighty Magic and Abracadabra's horns glowed, adding to the pull of Fire Heart's magic to start lowering the frightened unicorn mare.

[colour=#008000]"Frau Misty! Say someting else fast!" [/colour]the green flying Pegasus suggested.

[colour=#800080]"But I can't think of anything to say!" [/colour]Misty cried out. [colour=#800080]"Other than I wish I wasn't floating up here like this!"[/colour]

As the Professor smiled, her horn flashed. Instantly, Misty Magic was standing on all four hooves on the floor.

[colour=#FF0000]"Good thinking Clyde!" [/colour]Mighty Magic neighed.

[colour=#8B4513]"Oh thank you Professor Krashkop!" [/colour]added Abracadabra as she and Mighty rushed over to hug their daughter.

[colour=#0000FF]"That was very clever of you, Krashkop," [/colour]said Hoofcourt. [colour=#0000FF]"but tell me, how did you know that would work?"[/colour]

[colour=#008000]"I didn't!" [/colour]the elderly Pegasus neighed as he landed on the floor. [colour=#008000]"I had to tink dat if her vords got her into trouble, den her vords could get her out of trouble too, ja?"[/colour]

[colour=#800080]"Thank you all for her help," [/colour]Misty said as her parents released her hug. [colour=#800080]"Especially you, Fire Heart. I might've floated away had you not acted first to hold me down. I owe you a debt of graditude. I hope I can do something nice for you someday."[/colour]

Silt Treble furrowed his brow while he flipped through the various pages of the pamphlet with a thin vine of ivy from his mane before gazing at the signup sheet. [colour=#006400]"Hm.. I'm sure any date will work for me as long as I know far enough ahead of time. But even if I was to do it as soon as this week, that would be okay. I can wait in Whitetail Woods until the exam day."[/colour]

The wind picked up and Silt looked out again over the wall of the tower to the mountains that separated Canterlot from the woods, then down at the campus below. [colour=#006400]"Miss Marie, would it be okay if I chose to look around campus, even though I'm not an official student yet?"[/colour] The colt was unlikely to enter any of the buildings, but he didn't want to intrude on anypony if he didn't have to.

Ingrid Marie snapped her head up as Silt Treble mentioned that he’d stay in the woods until his entrance exam. [colour=#008080]“You don’t have anyplace to stay?!”[/colour] exclaimed the counselor; [colour=#008080]“Have you tried somewhere in the Solstice Heights area, young colt? I know you don’t exactly do well inside buildings, but surely you won’t stay out in the woods all by yourself! No, no..... that won’t do at all!”[/colour] In the back of her mind, the beige unicorn made a note to chastise Silt’s grandfather in writing for not making any rooming arrangements for Mr. Treble beforehoof.

Hastily writing an address and directions down on a blank sheet of paper, Ingrid explained what it was as she levitated it to Mr. Treble; [colour=#008080]“That will take you to an apple orchard in the Heights run by my nieces and nephews. Tell them I sent you, and they’ll give you room and board free of charge. I hope that staying on a farm will suit your needs, Mr. Treble.”[/colour]

Once she offered Silt a place to stay, Counselor Marie finally addressed the colt’s request to trot around the school.[colour=#008080] “Feel free to go anywhere you like,”[/colour] Ingrid politely answered; [colour=#008080]“Just as long as you don’t intrude on any classes, mmkay. Since you apparently had no issues getting here, you should be able to get around our campus unsupervised. Do you have any other questions?”[/colour]

[colour=#ff0000]"Wow, that was quick thinking, [/colour][colour=#ff0000]Professor Krashkop. Thanks for helping me. I don't think I'd be able to pull her down on my own."[/colour]

Misty then thanked everypony for assisting and especially made it a priority to thank Fire Heart.

[colour=#ff0000]"Oh you don't have to thank me. I try to help when I can really. So your magic is that whatever you say happens?" [/colour]

A slight flush crept onto Silt Treble's face at Miss Marie's reaction. Hearing that he would stay in the woods really upset the counselor; it wouldn't help for Silt to inform her that he had lived outside all of his life and was more than used to hoofing it. He took the directions to Miss Marie's relations politely and said, [colour=#006400]"Thank you, Miss Marie. But please don't write to my great grandsire, he had already offered me a place to stay with my grandparents that I turned down. The farm sounds lovely though, I'll be sure to stop by there."[/colour]

Silt smiled when Miss Marie told him it would be alright to walk around campus. He'd like to get to know the school better, especially if he was going to start there! Of course, that would be after he passed the entrance exam.[colour=#006400] "Unless you can tell me what my entrance exam is going to be on, I don't have any questions Miss Marie. Thank you, though."[/colour]

[Bellosh]

Not pressing the issue of Silt Treble’s room and board any further, Ingrid Marie directed the conversation back towards the matter of the entrance exam. [colour=#008080]“Our entrance examinations contain a combination of magic-based exercises and questions which test your character,”[/colour] the counselor stated; [colour=#008080]“That pamphlet I’ve given you will tell you exactly what gifted unicorns need to have if they want to qualify for admission here, and it’ll give you tips on how to prepare for the exam as well.”[/colour]

Turning her body towards the stairwell, Ms. Marie figured there was nothing left to say to Silt; [colour=#008080]“I suppose that should just about do it then, mmkay. Just write down a time for your exam appointment on that other sheet I’ve given you, and all the arrangements will be made.”[/colour] Giving a final smile of encouragement, Ingrid added; [colour=#008080]“In the meantime, I wish you luck on your exam when you come here at the end of the month.”[/colour]

Looking at the sheet given to him by Miss Marie, Silt noticed that there were slots open for an exam time early in the day. [colour=#006400]"Thank you again, Miss Marie."[/colour] Silt smiled at the beige mare and began to look over the pamphlet, wanting to be as ready as anypony could be before the exam finally came. Perhaps he could go to the library on campus, and study there? Silt peered over the wall at the buildings. The one with the tall windows and vast front steps looked like a likely library building.

Even though there really wasn't much more to be said, Silt Treble looked quite reluctant to walk back downstairs just yet. Noticing that his gaze lingered on the Library Tower, Ingrid Marie trotted over to the boy and eagerly remarked; [colour=#008080]"I see you're looking at our library nearby; one of the most prestigious book depositories dedicated to magic in all of Equestria. We keep a good number of books inside; at least a quarter-million or so. If you become a student, you'll have the privilege to check out books from the library. Oh yes, the interior is quite bright and roomy too, so hopefully claustrophobia won't be too much of an issue in there."[/colour] Ms. Marie figured to wait to see how Mr. Treble would respond; if he could wander the library just fine, then just maybe he'd eventually learn to cope in smaller classrooms as well.....

[colour=#006400]"A quarter-?"[/colour] Silt's jaw dropped. The colt had only seen his great-grandsire's collection of a dozen or so tomes, and it was difficult for him to imagine so many books. Silt would never admit it to Miss Marie, but he had never set hoof in a library before. [colour=#006400]"So, it's all open? Just shelves and books?" [/colour]Silt thought, trying to remember what his mother might have said about libraries or if she ever mentioned them. [colour=#006400]"That'll be nice, I've never been in a building like that before. Well,"[/colour] Silt's brow furrowed in concentration, as he thought back to his foalhood, [colour=#006400]"once, when I was really really small I went to Canterlot with my mum, and the entrance hall in the palace was okay for me. Is it like that, Miss Marie? The library?"[/colour] If it was, Silt thought, he was sure that he would have no problems being able to go inside.

Ingrid Marie gave a satisfied smirk as Silt Treble displayed his amazement over the size of the School’s collection. Sometimes, the counselor couldn’t help but reveal the pride she held for her place of employment. [colour=#008080]“Yes Mr. Treble,”[/colour] she answered his latest inquiry; [colour=#008080]“Every floor looks out over a central area, so you could think of our library as one vast multi-floored chamber. There should be a picture of it in the pamphlet, by the way.”[/colour]

At this point, Counselor Marie deemed that now she should head back down to her office just in case another student was waiting for her; [colour=#008080]“Well then, I got to head back downstairs now. If you need to know anything, you know where to find me, mmkay.”[/colour] Ingrid politely waited for the colt to reply first before actually making her way downstairs, just in case he needed another question answered right there and then.....

[colour=#800080]"Well Fire Heart, not EVERYTHING I say," [/colour]Misty confessed, [colour=#800080]"it sort of happens randomly."[/colour]

[colour=#ff0000]"She's had this, well, unique gift, since she was very young," [/colour]Mighty Magic admitted as he and Abracadabra hugged their daughter.

[colour=#0000ff]"Yes, Miss Fire Heart, I have tried everything I could think of to help Misty, but to no avail," [/colour]the elderly stallion said.

[colour=#800080]"I did go see Professor Marie today, and she said I could have a possible medical condition," [/colour]Misty said with a smile, [colour=#800080]"and if she's right, then perhaps there's a medical treatment for my, well, problem."[/colour]

[colour=#008000]"Dat vould be vonderba if you could find a cure, fraulien!" [/colour]added Professor Krashkop.

[colour=#800080]"Yes it would, maybe the solution's so simple, it's a piece of cake! Oh no!" [/colour]Misty placed her front hooves over her mouth, Too late as several plates with cut pieces of chocolate cake instantly appeared on a table next to Hoofcourt. [colour=#800080]"I did it AGAIN!"[/colour]

[colour=#0000ff]"But at least THIS time, we can EAT our way to a solution!" [/colour]the elderly unicorn laughed. [colour=#0000ff]"Let's have a snack! Abby, could you make us a pot of coffee?"[/colour]

[colour=#8b4513]"Yes sir!" [/colour]Abracadabra said with a nod of her head as a hot pot of coffee appeared on the table.

[colour=#ff0000]"And I've got the cups, dad!" [/colour]added Mighty Magic as his horn glowed, producing plenty of cup and saucer sets.

Silt nodded his head in thanks and looked back out over the campus. His eyes slowly drifted to the skies, and he wondered if his mother, Pyper Uscroll, would be back in time to watch him take the exam at the end of the month. Perhaps he would invite his great grandsire, who would be more than happy to visit. But the stallion's old bones probably couldn't make the trip out. He turned to see if Ingrid Marie was still there and she was, but the mare had already turned to leave.

[colour=#006400]"Um, Miss Marie? If it's not to much to ask, if you're not judging or working or anything the day of my exam, would you come with me?"[/colour] Silt mumbled quietly, a bit embarassed of the question, though he didn't know why. The colt stared at the dark purple fur covering his hooves as he waited for an answer.

[colour=#ff0000]"Hmm... that is interesting," [/colour]Fire Heart said as she tried to satisfy her curiosity while not making Misty feel like a test subject, [colour=#ff0000]"So it's not everything that you say or think. I've heard unicorns can have sudden magical fluxes but nit like yours."[/colour]

Before she could say anything else cake suddenly appeared on the table next to her.

[colour=#ff0000]"Well, at least this a delicious mistake. [/colour][colour=#ff0000]Actually, maybe it's nit a mistake as it's your brain just manifesting something you want."[/colour]

Silt Treble indeed hadn’t finished asking questions, and this next proved to be an awkward one for Ingrid Marie to answer; [colour=#008080]“As a matter of fact Mr. Treble, it is my responsibility to help proctor all entrance examinations, so I won’t be able to accompany you to the test.”[/colour] Not only that, but it would be unseemly to have a member of the faculty be the one to accompany the colt while he took his exam. What would other applicants think if they found out what Counselor Marie did for one foal but not the others?

All the same however, it sounded like Silt direly needed an adult of some sort to join him on exam day, and that he had nopony to call on. The counselor only had one solution in mind off the top of her head; [colour=#008080]“If you stay with my relatives, I’m sure one of them could escort you when you come for your exam. That is, if you’re sure nopony else you know can come to the School with you.”[/colour] As a matter of fact, the possibility that absolutely no one in Silt's family could bring themselves to support him raised lots of questions in Ingrid's mind.....

Ingrid Marie's suggestion seemed like a good possibility, and Silt nodded to show his consideration. When he thought about it, it was a lot to ask of the counselor. [colour=#006400]"Thank you Miss Marie. I'm sure my Great Grandsire would come if I asked him, he wanted to come with me today, but I know that the trip from Stalliongrad would be hard on him and I had to assure him I'd be fine on my own. My mum would be happy to come too, if she got back in time from the Badlands."[/colour] Silt smiled and tossed his green tangle of a mane out of his eyes. [colour=#008000]"But you'll be there anyways, right? I'll study hard for the exam so I don't let you down."[/colour]

Looking up, Silt noticed how much lower the sun was from when he had first arrived. He had taken quite a bit of the counselor's time and, knowing she must be a busy pony, said, [colour=#008000]"Thanks again for your help, I'm going to stay here for a little bit longer and look at the pamphlets before going to the library. I hope you have a good day, Miss Marie."[/colour]

Ingrid Marie warmly chuckled at Silt Treble, who claimed that he would not let the counselor down; [colour=#008080]“I wish you the best of luck Mr. Treble. Just one piece of advice though...”[/colour] The beige unicorn next pointed at the colt’s chest... towards his heart; [colour=#008080]“How well you do will depend as much as what’s in there,”[/colour] Ingrid then moved her hoof towards Silt’s head; [colour=#008080]“As what’s up here”.[/colour]

Apparently, Silt Treble felt that Ingrid had done all she could for the moment and so wished her a good day. [colour=#008080]“You have a good day too mister,”[/colour] Counselor Marie replied back; [colour=#008080]“Just mind the wind gusts up while you're up here; if you’re not careful, those pamphlets will blow away before you even know it.”[/colour] Giving the young colt a final smile, Ingrid finally made the short trek back to her downstairs office, figuring that she had time for at least a couple more visitations from the student body.....
