[Lore] Unyasi

The magic that flows throughout the land flows within us, a magic not of the capricious whims of the aether, but of the very life that courses through the veins of the earth and sky.

Unyasi is a vast continent with a wide variety of climates and terrain. Life abounds in Unyasi from the tallest peaks in the highlands to the deepest reaches of the coastal forests to the farthest expanses of the Savannah. Zebra tribes make their living here, in the service of nature rather than its mastery; a mantra which pervades every aspect of indigenous and even urban life.

The southern continent is a region rich in traditions and customs, and is not governed by one single ruler or government. In turn, each local tribal chief or city-state administering magistrate tends to require the backing of a council of elders first before making decisions for their group or community. Therefore, a number of varied and unique customs and traditions can stem from even one humble village.

Many of the villages that dot Unyasi were founded by small families that gradually gained new members, be it travel or otherwise. To typically become a chief, a Zebra typically has to be a descendant of the founding family. However in some cases, the chief can be hoofpicked by the tribe as a whole due to their extraordinary talents of unity, cooperation, friendship, and love. It is not unheard of for chiefs like these to become respected throughout the entire land.

In times of peril, tribal chiefs and magistrates from every corner of Unyasi will rally together to deal with the issue, as teamwork, togetherness, and unity are all universal Unyasan values. It is foolish to think that a single Zebra can manage on their own, when a tribe needs so many to make it run and function happily AND productively.
