The Neighples Delta - An Agrarian Paradise

On the far side of the Soggalong Swamp sits the Neighples Delta. Standing in stark contrast to the dense and treacherous overgrown expanses of the swamp, the delta is welcoming and hospitable and in fact one of the locations on the continent most suited to farming. Because of this, the region has become critical in the task of feeding Aquellia, produce grown in the region being shipped back up the Raprtorclaw River to the major cities of the canyons on a daily basis.

The delta was formed by the powerful rushing waters of the Raptorclaw River, the mouth of which it sits in. Several major estuaries cut across it, keeping the land always fecund and green. The delta is cut off by land from the rest of Aquellia by the Soggalong Swamp and can actually be more easily reached by traversing the Saddleveil Plains to the west, even if in doing so one still must cross the Harridan Mountains. Most wishing to reach this far corner of the map must rely on the river, as there are few places in the region to safely dock airships.

Weather in the delta is humid and hot. Rain is quite common, further saturating the lush land, but also on occasion posing significant danger. Flooding can be a common occurrence and can be at times devastating to the homes and livelihood of the regions farmers as well as to the yield of certain crops grown in the delta. At most times, however, the delta is said to be quite lively and beautiful. Many species of wildlife choose to make their homes along the land and waters of the region, though most are of a generally friendly variety than what can be found in the swamps to the north.

Virtually all permanent residents in the delta region make their lives through either agriculture or fishing. Residents here are often described as a down to earth, rustic sort very in tune with the land and appreciative of its bounty. Most remain griffons, though an increasing number of ponies have been lured to the region by the promise of the simple agrarian life it offers. A few small trading posts dot the land where local farmers and fishers can meet, exchange goods with each other or sell them to companies who ship them up the river. There are no towns or cities of note within the Neighples Delta, however, the population instead preferring to stay spread out throughout the whole region.
