Corralwood Corral - Equestria's Island Paradise

If there is a place in Equestria that exemplifies the vision of a tropical resort, it would be Corralwood Corral. Nestled on the northern windward shores of Thunder Hooves Island, this small city is the primary port of entry for anypony visiting the Gallopocus Islands. As such, there is a grain of truth to the joke that almost no one actually resides in Corralwood Corral, only vacationers.

The actual reality is that the area a couple centuries ago attracted plantation owners looking to farm crops unable to be grown on the Maneland. Corralwood Corral back in those days was a modest harbor where such harvested crops would then be shipped north to Equestria and Aquellia. Today, sprawling banana and sugar farms are still found east of the city along with plantations for other tropical crops.

Other than the port itself, the rest of Corralwood Corral’s waterfront is taken up by luxurious beachside hotels. The farther out from the city center, the more exclusive and opulent they become, along with whatever restaurants, watering holes, and clubs surround the resorts. The locals themselves, many of them employed in the tourist industry, live on the lower north slopes of Mt. Thunder Hooves in a cozy residential area with a great view of the resort paradise.

Away from the city, the oceanside hotels give way to lavish and secluded vacation estates for the rich and famous. Once the dryer leeward side of Thunder Hooves Island is reached, the villas turn more modest, either serving as dwellings for retirees or affordable vacation housing for anypony to enjoy. However, the entirety of the western section of the island mostly remains standing as a tropical rainforest, set aside as a preserve for nature.

Corralwood Corral also claims the honor of manning the largest weather team in Equestria. This is so because this crew has responsibility for keeping all of the Sparkling Sea safe for oceangoing vessels to travel in. The work of these weather ponies is cut out for them: one day, a rogue cyclone has to be broken up before it causes too much havoc; another day, a sailboat could requires rescue from the wind-starved doldrums. Once in a blue moon, a ferocious deep-sea monster might even need to be lured back down into the depths, almost always with personnel on loan from the Royal Equestrian Army. Because the sea is so vast, the weather team based out of Corralwood Corral spends much of its time on board patrolling ships, as the Sparkling Sea is too vast to be covered from one base alone.
