Killjoy stopped as she saw that the enemy were all dead as she panted hard in exhaustion and sheathed her sword. "well they weren't hard at all..." she said walking to the side of the Angel and jump onto the Ursa and got back on the wheel "where to now Wind!?" she yelled

Valor watched in horror as Star was knocked into a dingy below. "No!" He said loudly, trying to think of what to do to save her. She was becoming further and further away and he wasn't able to do anything. No, he had to act; he ran over to the throttle and pushed it all the way down with both his hooves, nearly snapping the lever in half, which made the ship slightly kick with the sudden increase of speed. He then ran back over to the edge of the ship and jumped off. His wings extended as they caught the wind, and with one flap he was already moving at high speeds, keeping the pace with every wing beat. He wasn't about to leave his crew member, no, his friend behind to her fate!

Everything happened so fast that WindCatch couldn't think straight. When Valor jumped off the edge and flew after the dingy, Wind was just about to turn the ship completely around and retrieve the two of them, that was until Killjoy called out, awaiting on what to do next. He gritted his teeth, he wanted to retrieve them and save them from certain death or worst, but he feared that if he did go back, Killjoy wouldn't take the same risk of losing her ship and ultimately her life. He was about to tell her to go onward without him and that he would catch up with her later, that was until a buccaneer walked up to him from behind. "Cap'n, I can go after them while you stay on course, and I'll make sure that they come back safe." Wind turned and looked at the buccaneer, with a white coat and a yellow mane with white streaks going through it. Most of his tail was missing due to an earlier mishap, and his flank held the cutie mark of three lightning bolts. This stallion was known as Volt Cloud-Strife. He had no time to waste, the more he waited, the further they were traveling apart from Star and Valor. "Fine, but you make d*** sure they come back alive and well!" He said to him with fine sternness in his voice. "Aye, Cap'n!" With that, Volt was already down the stairs and taking the other Dingy and turning it around, setting it to full speed and blasting off towards where Valor Dash and Star Reader where. Wind then looked over at Killjoy, fear, worry, and concern clear on his face, but he wondered if she could see all that all the way over on her ship. Either way, they had to move forward. "Just stay up on me, we have to move forward and get to those islands. Star has a copy of the coordinates since I gave them to her earlier, so she'll be able to direct everyone back to us once Volt has them, now get a move on!" He said to Killjoy, then went to the wheel to control the ship.

Valor continued to pursue after the dingy that Star and Arrow where on, keeping low below it to try and sneak up on Arrow to give Star either the upper hand or a chance to run. He was so close, but he couldn't seem to catch the dingy, or even lay a hoof on it. 'Come on Valor! Go faster! Make her proud of being your ancestor!' He thought to himself as he pushed himself even harder, finally placing a hoof on the back of the dingy where there was a rope to hold onto. He pulled himself up, looking over the back of the dingy and seeing both Star and Arrow, and the Mary coming ever so closely. "Star... Star Reader..." He tried whispering so that he would only get her attention and now Arrow's, wanting to only get away and hopefully not fight, for they would surly lose. Just then, he looked back and saw the other dingy chase after them. He thought that it was probably reinforcements coming to aid them and gave a soft smile before looking back at the two. "Star, we have to go... now..." He continued to whisper to her.

Killjoy looked behind her ship and saw that Arrow had Star and were almost near the Mary, Killjoy pondered for a moment. She made the agreement of protect Wind's ship and his crew, she gritted her teeth as she was going to regret her actions soon. Killjoy took hold of the wheel and spun it to the right and the Ursa turns tightly towards the Mary. The hydra guns pointing at the massive fortress, She looked at wind's ship racing off, "fire the Hydras at that ship and do not hit that dingy!" she barked out to Firestorm. Firestorm looked out and was filled with concern because the dingy was really far away and there was no guarantee the none of the shell won't hit the small boat. he closed his eyes "fire!" he yelled as the huge cannons boomed kicking the ship back as the shells went flying into the air towards the fortress. As the torpedoes fly, they made a loud humming sound as the shot past the Arrow's dingy. Just the sheer shock wave of the shells' velocity shoved the dingy off course and the shells exploded in the Mary's docking bay causing mass destruction inside.killjoy looked on in hopes that would give Volt the time he needs to catch up and get Star. Her crimson eyes locked on the Mary just waiting for a response from its captain

WindCatch saw as the Ursa turned around to chase after Arrow, Star, and Valor. "Killjoy, wait! The Mary will tear you and your ship apart!" He said and gritted his teeth, then snorted hot air out of his nostrils as he spun the wheel around and around until they were turned completely around as well and begun going back towards the Mary. 'We're playing right into my brother's hands... but I can't leave them behind, no. Killjoy has the right ideal.' He thought to himself as he stared down the Mary's massive hull. He then looked down at his men who didn't look too sure about this decision. "Listen up! We are returning for our crew! Get to your battle stations and prepare to fight tooth and nail if needed! We're going to take down a giant today." He said the last part as he narrowed his eyes. Why was he like this, this wasn't how he normally was, but it was because his crew was in danger, and his crew was his second family, one that he cared for and they cared for him back. One of stallions stopped and looked up at Wind, thinking of something that might calm him down a little. "Are we taking down the giant ship, or the captain with the giant ego on the ship?" He asked, making it sound like a actual question. Wind looked down at the stallion, but instead of feeling anger or anything like that, he did actually begin to feel better about this situation. "Get it right, I'm the only one who has a big ego around here." He said and chuckled. The stallion smiled as well, when the captain was happy and his old self, it made the others feel at ease, no matter the situation. "Now hurry up, all of you, before I toss you all overboard!" He said and then laughed as everypony got to their stations.

Valor looked back to see if the other dingy was still following them with them being so close to the Mary, only for horror and shock to fill his face when he saw that both the Ursa and the Angel Wings had turned around and moving towards the Mary as well. He frantically waved one hoof to try and shoo them away. "No! Don't come this way! Go, go back! This is what she wants!" He shouted out at the top of his lungs, but to no avail; his words would not travel that far. He growled and turned back around, he had to try something, he couldn't let them all get taken like this. He flapped his wings once and he was above the dingy, then flew downwards upon Arrow. "Take this!" He yelled out as he had a hoof extended, ready to clobber her on the side of her head and knock her out cold.

The gunners and marines began to get to their positions on the Mary when they noticed that both ships were returning towards them. "Sir! We're ready for your order, just say the word and we'll blast them both out of the sky." One marine said as the other took aim at the ships. StormRide didn't say anything at first, but finally he spoke. "Do not fire. Let them dock, we'll deal with them once they're inside." He said to the stallions. Most of them turned and looked at StormRide as if this was going to be a bad idea, but none of them spoke up to voice their opinions.

The Hydra cannons boomed as they fired again and again making no sign of stopping as the shells bombard the Mary but was not doing much damage. Killjoy saw the miniscule damage the normal shells were causing, "Firestorm!" she barked out loudly as Firestorm quickly ran up on deck "yes captain?" Firestorm said. Killjoy looked at Firestorm for a second not sure if what she was thinking was possible "...load the dragon's fire..." she said and Firestorm's eyes widen "but Captain...we don't if the Hydras can take it!" he said sounding concerned. Killjoy pounded on the rail "just do it!" she yelled furiously. Firestorm stepped back and paused "aye Captain" he said quietly as he goes down below deck and looks at the cannoneers "load the Dragon's fire..." Firestorm commanded. The gunners then stopped what they were doing as if they heard nails on a chalk board and stared at firestorm then at each other and back to Firestorm. Firestorm saw the uncertainty all the ponies were feeling "Go!" he barked out and the ponies brought 3 large crates from the cargo hold and opened them, in those boxes were blood red shells. It took four ponies to lift one, each shell was loaded into the Hydra cannons and one of the gunners said "may Celestia help us all..." as her loaded the breach and his hoof on the lever ready to fire. Nopony knew what the outcome would be by firing the fury of Tartarus it's self, the result could be catastrophic or will go as planned. The gunners all stared in silence as the ponies hesitated on pulling the level, their hooves shook and sweat poured down their cheeks. Not even Killjoy was prepared for what was about to happen, She looked at the Mary and closed her eyes "either way...you are not getting this ship" she whispered to herself. After those few moment that have gone by, the Gunners finally gulped down their fear and pulled the levers. the front of the Ursa spat out giant puffs of flame with an enormous boom that echoed through the air and could be heard for miles. The Ursa kicked back farther than usual. Killjoy breathed a sigh of relief as she saw the red dots hurling towards the Mary and eventually large explosions go off into the side of the Fortress, dealing tremendous damage.

Arrow grabbed his hoof. "I'd get my Wings ready if I were you" she pushed him off

"Valor!" Star yelled and leaned off the side watching, hoping he would be okay. Knowing if she even thought about flying off to help him shed get shot by the pistol being aimed at her

"Ill just land on the deck.." Arrow said looking back to the mass destruction. She saw the other dingy headed towards them "id hang on" she warned and pushed the throttle all the way up. Heading towards the deck. Star was still staring at the falling Valor unable to do anything... Along with the pistol when she was kicked down to the dingy she landed partly on her wing.

After a brief lull, the roar of distant cannons returned as the battle raged on beyond the clouds. The crew of the Kestrel couldn't see what was happening, although as they had passed over the site of the battle far below they had caught sight of a massive ship sinking below the clouds.

“That ship...was that the Manehattan Mary?” Aerus, leaning over a railing on the main deck's starboard side, finally broke the silence left by the absence of orders or typical conversation. This brought a round of concerned muttering from crew members in earshot. That would be a lot of cannons to contend with if the ship was in a fighting mood.

The captain was unfazed however. “Everyone calm down!” he called out from the helm, not even looking toward the battle below. “By the sound of things, yes that is the Mary. If they haven't come after us by now, they aren't going to. This isn't our fight, and they couldn't catch us at this point anyways.” He paused for a moment before giving an order. “All crew except the lookout are to stand down. We're out of danger for now.”

With no further risk at the moment, the Kestrel few on. With any luck, it would only be a couple more hours before she reached her destination: the edge of the Everfree Forest.

((Alright, to keep this from dying, I'm going to try and get a post out for now, and then when I get back from work, I'll try posting some more. Thanks for waiting.))

"What? No!" Was all he could get out before being thrown. Valor found himself out of breath as he was now falling away from the dingy and plummeting to the Earth. Just as he thought, they were not going to be any match for her. What was he to do now? He continued to fall, giving the illusion to Arrow that he had given up, but once he was low enough, he was going to spin and begin flying upwards; that was the plan until he realized how hard it was beginning to be just to move his body. He had never been this close to the Earth before, and the change in the feel of gravity was beginning to reveal itself to him. He tried his hardest to at least get turned around so that he would stop falling, that was when he realized something else; the ground was a lot closer than he remembered, but it wasn't the Earth's ground. With a loud thud, he landed on his side in the middle of the Kestrel's deck, knocking the rest of his breath out and leaving him motionless as he lied there.

Volt saw what seemed to of been the blue pegasus with a golden mane and tail fall from the dingy in front of him. His first instinct was to quickly take the dingy down and attempt to catch Valor, that was until he saw Valor land on top of another ship that he had never seen before. Was it another Sky Patrol ship, but it didn't seem to have the markings of one. Was it another Crusader? Either way, he had to make a decision; the Mary was coming up fast, and Valor was on that ship, heading in another direction. He promised he would bring back both of them, but now he was torn as to whom to follow. He closed his eyes and shook his head lightly. "I'm sorry, Star, but they'll get you back." And with that, Volt took the Dingy down and began following the Kestrel.

Wind watched as everything happened right before him. Feeling a bit powerless, he sighed softly. This is becoming a bit too much... He said as he watched Killjoy attack the Mary. It seemed to of done a bit of damage, but nothing major to the massive ship except chip away of the hull. "Save your ammunition Killjoy. I have a plan." He said loud enough for her to hear him. He only hoped that this plan of his wouldn't kill everyone.

Killjoy pounded the side rail after seeing that the Dragon's fire didn't do as much damage as she expected, she gritted her teeth and thought we would need over 20 ships to damage that beast . Killjoy's ears perk as she heard Wind's voice "And what might that be!?" she yelled back at Wind. She looked back at the Mary what could he possibly thanking of...there is no hope fighting that Fortess without getting us all killed, running and fight another day seems about right. Star might just have to wait for Rescue she said to herself. she then began thinking of scenarios at a rapid pace of how we could cripple the Fortress with just two ships if that was the insanity Wind was planning but could only think about hitting the Mary's rutters and engines with the Hydra cannons, even then it seems like suicide, boarding the Mary would not be an option. Killjoy's only thought was that they were going to need help if we are to save star and take down the Mary. She feared that wasn't Wind's plan, she knew her agreement with wind and planned to keep it but if she is right about Wind's plan she might have to break that promise as much it will kill her to do so.

[slight note about the Kestrel: it's designed more like a blimp than a boat, with a large, oblong-egg shaped, metal structure making up most of the ship and housing what keeps it airborne. The the upper deck (which houses a single turret and is where the lookout stands) sits on top while the main and lower decks connect to the bottom.]

From his position at the helm, Taalix heard a very faint 'thump' of something hitting the observation deck accompanied by a surprised 'squawk' from the lookout. “Intruder on deck!” came through the speaking tube after a moment.

“Aerus!” Taalix called out, but he needn't have. He spotted the younger gryphon moving toward the upper deck even before he'd finished speaking. After a moment's hesitation, he added “and bring the medic with you!” Anyone landing hard enough for the impact to be heard on the main deck didn't land smoothly, and Taalix would rather not have anyone dying on his ship, particularly before he figured out what happened first.

“Captain!” The speaker was one of the marines this time, who'd taken up a position at the stern window. “We got some kinda dingy in pursuit of us.”

Taalix muttered under his breath, cursing his apparent inability to keep the Kestrel out of combat, before responding. “Then they've sent after us the probably the only ship in the battle that we could overpower. All crew to stations! Ready the port guns and the lower cannon, but hold fire for the moment: we don't want to start any unnecessary hostilities.” Taalix gently pulled back a lever as he gave the order. The Kestrel lost some speed and began turning slightly to the left, allowing the dingy to catch up while still moving away from the combat zone, and giving the side guns a clear shot at the other ship should the need arise.

Meanwhile, Aerus arrived on the upper deck prepared to confront the intruder. However, seeing the limp form of a pegasus he didn't recognize, as well as the lookout completely unharmed, caused him to shift his priorities. He ran over to the dark blue pegasus saying “Hey, what happened? Are you alright?” as the medic emerged on the upper deck, trailing behind him.

[i'm guessing he's still in the middle of finals season (if he was previously), which always seemed to last a couple weeks, give or take a few days depending on specific courses. He seemed to post pretty rapidly before that, so hopefully it'll just be a question of waiting that out before the thread can return to normal speed.]

Wind was still bent on getting with the Mary and proceeding with his plan, that was until he looked over at Killjoy when she asked her question. He couldn't clearly see the expression on her face, but he could feel the fear and worry coming from her. He than began to think, 'What good will this plan be if we all get caught and killed? Then who will save her?' He then sighed softly as he began to turn the wheel, steering away from the Mary. 'I only hope she can forgive me... both her and Valor.' At the sight that they were turning away, most of the crew began to cry out in anger and confusion. "But what about Star Reader!?" One of them said loudly, then continued. "Are we not going to save her?" WindCatch lowered his gaze some, knowing how they felt, but he had his reasons. "Listen up!" He started off, making everypony fall silent as he talked and hoped for an answer for this action of his. "We will save her, have no doubts about that, but if we go after her now, we'll all die! Who will save her then?" He said to them, and after that, everyone fell silent. Wind felt like he was just giving up too easily, but he knew there was truth in what he said. Finally they were completely turned around and going away from the Mary.

StormRide watched as the Angel began to fly away from his ship. He gave a slight inward sigh; his prey was escaping, now the question was would he let him go, or kill him now. Finally when Arrow and Star got to the upper deck via the steam powered elevator, he turned to look at them. "It seems your crew and captain has abandoned you. What a shame." He said to Star Reader as he began to walk towards her. A sense of pride could be felt omitting from his presence, all the way down to how he walked made it seem that he felt as though he was the best at this and anything else for that matter. Once he was a few feet away from them, he stopped and looked over at Arrow. "Do not kill your sister, not yet. We need to give my brother and his companions a reason to come and seek us out." He informed her in his usual cold and deep tone. He then looked at Star again, his gaze borrowing down upon her.

Valor heard the sounds of hoof steps rushing towards him not long after he crashed on what he presumed was the upper deck of another ship. He hadn't gotten a chance to see the ship, he was still light headed and it was a bit hard to open his eyes. He then began hearing voices that were close to him, asking if he was alright. He tried speaking, but all that happened was his mouth opened, and that was it. Finally he opened one eye, taking a look and seeing two ponies over him, he didn't look too long before turning his gaze above them and seeing his ship and Killjoys turning away from the Mary. Was it done? Had they already got Star back? 'Tell me... she's alright...' He thought just before he tried standing up. However, when he tried to move a quick, sharp pain went through his body and sent him back down onto his side again, making him grit his teeth.

Volt finally got up to the large ship's upper deck, seeing that the ship was made quiet differently than others that he had seen before. He stopped the dingy just as he got to the area where Valor Dash as, seeing two other ponies there as well. He didn't know what they were planning on doing to Valor, so he had to think quickly. "Ahoy there! Permission to come aboard." He said, then looked over at Valor with a worried look. He didn't seem to be doing so well, and after a fall like that, he would be amazed if any pony would be. "How is he? Has he said anything?" He asked as he looked at the two again, making sure they were not about to do anything they were going to regret, though he kept his manners above him.

Arrow's expression was first of disappointment. but then she smirked coldly. "i wouldn't dream of it. not until i see her face when her, other, friends die before her eyes." she said coldly, pausing sadistically when she said "other" reminding Star about Valor. Arrow hadn't seen him land on the deck of the Ketsrel so she thought Star had seen him die. she knew this would break her down emotionally, which it did even though she knew Valor was alright.

she shrunk back a little, but not much as he glared at her. Star gritted her teeth at her sister's words but didn't say anything to her. she knew Valor was alright."they're not stupid you know. they're not going to walk into a death trap." she said firmly. showing no signs whatsoever of fear. she wasn't exactly scared, but she was on a Sky Patrol ship with her bloodthirsty sister and her captain who wanted her and her friends dead. that would scare anypony. she knew they wouldn't kill her, at least not yet. but she hated the thought that she was going to be bait. she didn't say anything else. she just met his glare to show him she had no fear of him, even though she did. her wing bent at an awkward angle from the fall she realized there was almost no way she could get out of this on her own. but she didn't want her friends to get killed trying to save her don't come back for me. i'll be fine she thought watching the Angel turn around

Killjoy sighed in relief when she saw Wind turning around "thank Celestia" she said to herself as she turned the wheel. The ship was now facing the opposite way following the Angel. The crew said nothing for they knew the Mary was too much, even for the mighty "Ursa Major," Killjoy looked back at the fortress and thought how long Star might last on board the Mary with all the sky patrol, she quickly repressed the thought and looked forward. "what the hell have you gotten yourself into...?" she muttered under her breath as she pushed down the throttle to keep up with the angel.
