Cursing in RP? (Fourth Post)

Hello!

I just joined this forum. I've been looking for a place to RP my MLP OC, and Canterlot looks really amazing! I just had a question that I was hoping someone might be able to answer.

My OC is one I created for a more war-torn, almost fantasy-like environment. Everyone fighting each other, etc. Sort of like Skyrim, if you've ever played that game, where violence and fighting is fairly commonplace. IE, if you travel from one city to another, you'd better be prepared to be ambushed by bandits. Whereas on MLP, the universe is not a generally violent one.

So my question is, if anyone might know where my character could fit in for WoE RPs? He's not really militaristic (he's more like a bandit/assassin or Special Ops kind of guy) so he wouldn't fit in with the Royal Equestrian Army. (Though I did see that there is the SunTrot Force). But I guess I'm just wondering if there's anywhere plausible for him to fit into this universe, or if I'll have to redo his character to not make him so combat heavy. Like, is there a band of recon specialists, or secret cult of assassins, or, a special fighter force, etc, that I'm not aware of and I could try to get my character accepted for? Basically, I'm new and have no idea what's out there and available to my character, so I have no idea if he could even fit into the WoE RPs.

Note: I'm not planning on RPing extreme violence, or trying to make my character a super bad awesome fighter. It's more that, I've plucked him out of the universe he was created for and am trying to drop him into this one. But I have to try and figure out if he'll work as-is or with a little bit of tweaking, or if he needs a complete rewrite, if that makes sense.

Well, we'd have to see your application, but its possible an OC like that could fit into Canterlot Chroncles. The World of Equestria RP is more centered around slice-of-life sorts of RPs, and there's very little place for a combat-centric character there. CC is less restrictive on that type of character.

Keep in mind that WoE and CC try to stay close to the canon and technology level shown in the FiM show. However, the Free-for-All section allows a much wider variety of characters and stories. For now, I'd recommend that you read the sticky posts in the Chronicles Applications section. When you're ready, you can post your app there, and one of the RP Helpers can assist you with making any needed changes to the character.

I just thought of another question I should have asked before, and I hope it's okay that I just post in this same thread instead of making a new one. But what are the rules on cursing? I didn't see anything in "allowed" and "now allowed" rules for RPing, so I'm not sure if I'm missing it or if there are no set rules on it.

In other RPs I've been in, I've seen "hay" and "Taurtarus" (sp?) substituted for the 'H' word, and "buck" substituted for the 'F' word, and that's what I've used anytime I RPed with my MLP OCs. But they also say the 'S' word sometimes as well. So I'm wondering, if cursing is allowed on these forums, or if substitutions are okay, or if cursing is not allowed at all. Again, thanks for any help on the matter!

Pony-like substitutes are more acceptable but in WoE we do tend to shy away from even that, though in limited amounts it can be passable. CC gives you more leeway with the pony substitutes. Direct cursing is not allowed. Lucky, ponies have such a varied language!

You can also make up a word like the original Battlestar tv series, and some books I've read do. Like Filterkarb, or however you spell that word, that they used for a cuss word.
