Character Summary:

Streak is one of those guys everyone wants to be friends with, but nobody really wants to hang out with. He has a loud personality and while always jovial, can be quite immature at times (He's that guy who always laughs at fart jokes and even more so at any joke he tells himself) But there is an air about him that is almost intoxicating, he's smile is always bright like his eyes, and he carries himself with a grace that few save royalty can muster - there is not a single pony that hates him... though he still ends up spending many, many nights alone...

Streak was born in cloudsdale to a very average family, he attended an average school and had an average foalhood. Honestly nobody would have ever guessed he would become a wonderbolt. For much of his early life, though he of course respected them and was a part of their general fandom (after all, they're from Cloudsdale so there is a certain element of pride to it) but he barely even knew the names of their leads, much less any of the other wonderbolts.

This all changed when he read an article about how one of them risked their life during a rather severe out-of-control storm (somepony apparently added far too much lightning) to save the weatherponies present, while the rest of the team set about breaking up the clouds into more manageable thunderheads. One might say that when he realized they were more than just 'Arial actors' and were also 'part-time heros' was when his view of them changed from 'entertainers' to something much more profound. Little did he know that article would effect him in far more profound ways later...

Streak was still a young pony when he began an internship one summer at the weather service. Despite his age he had still not earned his cutie mark, but given that his family wasn't exactly known for being 'first' he thought nothing about it. One of his co-workers was attending to a stormcloud which was acting up, likely too little rain and too much wind had been put into it, when somepony accidentally opened the bay doors, releasing the cloud to the skies. Since it was still a fairly normal occurrence, Streak and a few other ponies who were there hurried to recover the cloud before it could join up with the others up above, planned for a rainstorm over canterlot the following day. Nopony really gave it any real thought that the wind-heavy cloud would cause anything worse than breaking up the prepared clouds - which would mean a setback in schedule, but there would still be plenty time to create more clouds and get them to canterlot in time.

What happened though was far worse than expected, the wind form the cloud began whipping up the other clouds, starting to form a funnel. Things were getting worse but were still manageable, none of the 'veterans' who were in charge of the area gave it a second thought - they would later be severely disciplined.

The funnel cloud was growing and it was soon clear that this was one of those cases where a tiny mistake would snowball into something far more disastrous. The balance had been upset in the whole storm system with the addition of the windy cloud, and now lightning was flashing about as the funnel turned to an all-out tornado. Many of the interns were sucked inside, including streak and it was only now that the veterans we thinking they might need to step in... but they still assumed it was safe enough to act as a 'test' for the newbies to see how well they reacted... when the first pony was struck by lightning and fell to the cloudy floor, badly burned but still alive, they knew they had made a mistake...

Meanwhile, Streak was inside the cloud, his prior attention to flight training allowed him to maneuver well enough, but he couldn't break free. He dodged around the more dangerous areas, when he saw some of the youngest interns who had clearly not been as fast a study in flight school almost getting struck by lightning, he had to act. Something inside him told him that he was the only one that could protect them until help arrived. He dove hard and fast, he managed to grab one and create enough of a tail-wind to provide safe travel for two others, but an unexpected lightning bolt flashed. His world moved in slow-motion as he did an impressive climb at the last moment, so close to the lightning bolt that he felt his tail singe, and everyone was momentarily stunned at the precision he'd achieved, the lightning flashed past his flank and he felt heat, thinking he had been burned, but he gritted his teeth and continued to climb, finally reaching the top and breaking a hole for the rest to use to escape as well.

He landed on the ground to find the 'emergency team' working to destroy the funnel from the outside, having managed to put it into an area where it could do no damage. It set down the pony he'd been carrying and was about to go back to help, but he'd been told that he had already done more than enough. He looked at his singed fur and at first thought he had a burn on his flank, thinking back to the heat he felt, but was surprised to see it wasn't a scar but instead his cutie mark, the bolt of lightning passing his flank was now forever emblazoned upon it. He knew now what he was meant to do. He wasn't there to push clouds, he was there to help people, the praise and cheers made him happy - not in his own accomplishments, but in knowing he had made a difference and that because of him, the others were safe. He had protected them, he had made them smile in the face of danger, and he had persevered himself. He thought back now to that article he had read on the wonderbolts, and he knew what he had to do. . .

-----

The spotlight is everything for Streak, but there is one catch, he's only happy as long as the fans are happy, and has angered the other 'bolts more than once by abandoning a trick or at the least re-arranging them because the fans didn't want to see them performed that night. He's always the first pony to volunteer to visit the foal's hospital and has spent many an off day there in his wonderbolts uniform reading to the sick colts and fillies.

In the end, though, while he can seem self-absorbed, Streak can be very different when alone, quiet, thoughtful. He enjoys playing acoustic guitar and watching the stars, he hopes that one day he will have a mare at his side to watch them with him, perhaps a colt or filly running around nearby... but that is all in the future... for now, he just sits back, looks up at the stars, and wonders what tomorrow will bring.
