Foal Mountain

 

Located directly east of Tall Tale Town, lays one of the most infamous mountains of all Equestria, and rightfully so. Nopony knows exactly when this mountain was created, or even how. From a distance the foal-shaped stone looks to have been naturally cut from the mountain side from the years of ice and snow, but up close it almost looks like the rock could have been carved. This has led to many rumors being spread about the mountain being a burial ground for ancient civilizations and holding vast wealth inside.

 

Many adventures and archaeologists have come to these mountains in search of the rumored artifacts but have come up empty hooved except for a large array of caverns that lined the inside of the mountains. These caverns created enormous displays of natural beauty as they twisted and turned to inside. Some of these caverns are dangerous and a pony risks falling into one of the many chasms in the mountain’s interior if they choose to go in alone and don’t know the area.

 

Along the outside of the mountain, are various camp grounds for the adventurous type that like the outdoors minus the added dangers of the interior mountain. The mountain itself up to Foal Rock is a lush forest that allows ponies of all types to become one with nature and just relax and unwind. Ponies do still need to be alert though to natural predators that live inside of the forest.

 

If you take the southern route up the mountain side instead of going through the caverns, you began a gently ascent towards the snow cap of the mountain. About midway up the mountain, stands numerous buildings and a massive ski lift that takes ponies even higher up the mountain from Foal Mountain Ski resort, one of the largest most productive Ski Resorts on this side of The Eponnine Mountains. Its main competition came from the numerous Ski Resorts in Marelia on the northern most part of the mountains.

 

That in mind, the one thing that Foal Mountain had over any other region was in fact, something that was inside the mountain. Deep in the back drop of the mountain well into its deeper parts, a young adventurer by the name of Pathfinder made an extraordinary discovery. Almost dead center in the deepest part of the mountain lies a deceased volcanic chamber that has long been dormant and through the power of magic in the land had formed into pure crystal and this crystal extends all the way up through the cone of the Volcano, along light to filter through during the day when Celestia’s sun is shining above it. This creates a cascading lightshow that displays the full color spectrum at any point in time during the day, however the exhibit is now only open during the day, and requires a one day trek through the caverns of the mountains to reach.
