Stormsong was among the last of her class to earn her cutie mark, and did so during a particularly stormy night. As usual, she was alone in her bedroom, accompanied only by the light of a candle and the scratching of quill against parchment as she fought to compose her first original musical piece. Just when the filly thought she was on to something, her younger sister, Sage Leaf, barged her way through the door, crying in fear of the raging storm outside. Forgetting entirely about the composition, Stormsong pulled her little sister into a hug and began playing on her favorite flute, letting slow and gentle melodies fill the room. It wasn't long before Sage's crying had ceased and she'd fallen asleep, and it was only then that the blue filly realized that she hadn't been playing, well, anything! She'd made up a piece, entirely on her own, and it had worked! And, to top off her happiness, a flash of light filled the room, and she had finally earned her mark, representing her affinity for music.

History: Stormsong is the first-born of three fillies raised by the owners of a small family restaurant located in Canterlot, and being so, she was quite spoiled as a foal. Even from a young age, she loved music, and has collected numerous instruments with which to play it over the years. She would often stay awake late into the night, practicing in her bedroom, absolutely determined to someday become a great musician. Of course, this had a negative impact on her schoolwork; she was always tired early in the morning, and did somewhat poorly in most subjects. Much as she tried to justify doing so, claiming that the moon was far better inspiration for her, her parents eventually decided to step in and try to keep her from playing so late.

Once she was old enough to figure out how, Stormsong began sneaking out of the house at night to subvert her parents' decision to end late night practice. Her dedication and hard work eventually paid off when she earned her cutie mark for her musical talents, which to her, only meant that she needed to work even harder. After days of begging and pleading, her parents allowed some of her compositions to be incorporated into the music played in their restaurant, and they were soon pleased with the results. The unique musical atmosphere gave their customers something to talk about, and provided a small, but notable boost to business, which had recently fallen into a slump.

When she came of age, Stormsong took on ownership of the family business, more out of tradition than because she actually wanted to. While this caused her to put of the plans she had for a musical career, she used the opportunity to get her name out, and even, on rare days, perform live music for her customers. This only served as a minor interruption in her aspirations for a musical career however, as she passed the restaurant on to Sage Leaf, once she became old enough. Currently, the blue mare still calls the living area in the upper floor of the building her home, although she spends little time there aside from sleeping for the night. She is usually out and about, composing, practicing, and, when she can work up the courage, taking on small musical performances, such as for parties and celebrations.

Character Summary: A very shy and quiet mare, Stormsong does her best to remain out of the center of attention when at all possible, and will generally only speak when spoken to. She frequently suffers from stage fright as well, which seriously complicates her ability to perform for a live audience consistently. However, for those who make the effort to get to know her, and don't manage to scare her off in the process, she is an incredibly kind and loyal friend who is willing to do almost anything to help out a pony in need. Meeting with her in and of itself is an oddity though, as she likes to travel around very often, and seldom spends her time in highly populated areas. She much prefers to be spending her time in nature, accompanied by songbirds and flowers, even in rainy or stormy weather.

Having been raised in a family of chefs, Stormsong has a tendency to be a bit of a picky eater, although this rarely devolves into being snobbish. She is also rather clumsy, and is prone to walking into walls or tripping over her own mane whenever her mind becomes too occupied with other things going on. Also, despite not getting very good marks throughout school, she is rather intelligent, and becomes defensive should she feel has insulted or demeaned her on an assumption that she isn't.

Character Summary:

Stormsong is the oldest of three siblings raised by the owners of La Fleur Canterlot, a not-so-well-known restaurant in the heart of Canterlot. She was born during a weather mishap, when an out of control storm flew over most of Canterlot before it could be corrected by the weather mares. She was named Stormsong because, during the moments immediately following her birth, the weather mares finished moving the storm out of Canterlot and the birds began singing a very beautiful tune, as if praising her arrival into Equestria.

Stormsong had a very rough time with school when she was a filly. She was almost constantly late to class because she would stay up late into the night, well past her bed time. She claimed that this was because the moon was far better inspiration than the sun was for her music, the one subject in which she excelled. Even on the rare days that she was on time to school, her mind would wander, often leading her to try her hoof at composing her own musical pieces instead of paying attention to the subject being taught at the time.

Her problems at school were only compounded by her overwhelming shyness. She had very few friends that she could spend any time with, and all too often, she preferred to sit quietly at recess than to get involved with whatever game her friends were up to. Not only was recess awkward for her, but class itself was downright painful whenever she had to speak in front of everypony. Even though she got some of the best marks in her class, she completely fell apart when it came to presenting work to the rest of the class.

Even though she knew she was a very talented musician early on in life, Stormsong was one of the last fillies in her class to earn her cutie mark. One night, while her parents were out, a particularly bad storm was sent through Canterlot. Her youngest sister came into her room, crying because she was horribly frightened of the thunder and lightning. Stormsong did the only thing she knew how to do: she began singing a lullaby to her sister, simultaneously using her magic to play her flute. She played for nearly an hour, inventing tunes and lyrics on the spot, until her younger sister was peacefully asleep. It wasn't until her parents pointed it out in the morning that she noticed her cutie mark on her flank, four sixteenth notes beamed together by a pair of lightning bolts.

When she came of age, Stormsong was given ownership of La Fleur Canterlot by her parents. Even though she had no interest in running the family business, she had agreed to manage the restaurant, at the very least, until the older of her sisters came of age. Since then, Stormsong has spent a large amount of her time traveling Equestria, sometimes attempting to overcome her shyness long enough to get somepony interested in her musical talent. Despite not spending very much time at home, she still makes sure that all of her employees are paid, and she even composes some of the music played at the restaurant, though she never performs in front of her customers.

It feels like such an honour to be reviewing a Statue app - wouldn't you know it, talking statues make great writers, too!

You may want to fix the link to Sage Leaf's app (It's missing the "[url=" if you used the simple editor for it). Other than that, everything looks great to me! :D
