Lightning Flicker starts out as what we call a "bully", she picks on others to make up for the loss of her sister five years ago. In Ponyville, she is known as the town bully, and nopony wants anything to do with her. If she can't be happy, nopony will. But as destiny would have it, she happens upon Candy Star and Starshine, who are out shopping for the day. Seeing the opportunity, she takes the scarf Candy Star is wearing and steals it away, making Candy Star upset. That scarf has sentimental value, and having it taken away is the worst case scenario for her, and Lightning knows it. She's learned to pick up on what items would be of value to a pony in town.

Seeing this happen to her friend, Starshine decides to act, Lightning has crossed the line this time; and wasn't going to get away with it. Knowing Lightning has a tendency for a big ego, there is only one way to settle this matter; and that is to take away something that Lightning values most, her ribbon. Starshine didn't know it then, but this was a Memento of her sister's. Taking this item away would not only teach her a lesson, but also make her understand how Candy Star felt. Lightning gets upset over Starshine messing with the it, and every other pony starts mocking her for it.

Later, Candy Star finds Lightning crying as she holds the item in her hoof. Candy Star approaches Lightning, trying to learn what's wrong, but Lightning tries to distance herself. Eventually Candy Star gets Lightning to open up to her and Starshine, Which they learn of the significance of the item. They soon become friends and eventually best friends. Once they become best friends, lightning stops carrying the item with her; representing that she is finally able to let go of the past and look forward to the future with her new best friends.

So that's what I wanted to do for her introduction in Equestria's Last Hope: Prism Force. Before anyone says it, no, there's no such thing as an original story; all stories are just copies or inspirations from some real life books(which are the originals). Any story now is just a copycat in comparison, never truly original. Same could be said of mine tbh, but its this kind of thinking that makes people bias towards a story, never giving it a chance. Just because you read a few bad stories, that doesn't mean every single OC version is bad or will be bad. Just think about that for a while.
