Eye colour: Violet

Coat: Cyan; She typically is found wearing Royal Guard armour, standard Crystal Empire variant.

Mane/Tail: Lavender mane, kept to a medium length and usually in a bun when she isn't in uniform; she keeps a pair of cyan streaks dyed into it with thaumoreactive dye. If she channels magic at them, these streaks glow. Her tail is kept braided at all times.

Physique: Lean and athletic. Her job and preferred combat styles leave her without much in the way of body fat or bulk. She's a little on the tall side, with her eyes at ear level for many ponies.

Residence: Crystal Empire Royal Guards' barracks. 

Occupation: Guardsmare stationed in the Crystal Empire; her rotations normally have her on day patrols of the city with occasional stints as a night's watchmare at the palace.

Cutie Mark: A hexagonal gemstone in violet. She manifested her cutie mark while practicing spells with a tutor. The tutor was going over what she considered an advanced topic, the creation of magical constructs, and was amazed when Aqua started producing them on her first day with the spell.

History:

Born to a pair of no-nonsense aristocrats, Aqua had the opportunity to be anything she wanted, and live in the lap of luxury. She despised it. So much so that when her parents insisted she join the Royal Equestrian Army for the standard term all of her family served, Aquamarine stayed in. Her first drill sergeant was instructed in no uncertain terms that Aquamarine was not to be allowed to 'skate by' on her family reputation, and she was to be treated as the lowliest grunt he'd ever met. He took to it with gusto, and the mare was quickly forged from a somewhat pudgy and soft noblemare into a proper guard. She's never looked back.

 

Her station in life meant she was particularly suited to serving as a guard in and around the Canterlot palace, a fact the Guard did not miss, but because it was close to her old life, Aquamarine quickly grew bored of the post, and started volunteering for assignments to patrol the city's other districts, especially at night.  Once the Crystal Empire returned, it was a race between Aqua and her superior officers as to who volunteered the mare first. Aquamarine lost, but gracefully.

 

She quickly discovered that she had a knack for discerning the intentions and emotions of the Crystal ponies, a trait that just as quickly lost its charm. In fact, the entire Empire now tends to bore her, aside from the occasional festival, invasion, or game with other visitors to the region.

Character Summary:

In spite of her noble upbringing, Aquamarine is a rough-and-tumble kind of mare. She speaks her mind fairly freely among those she trusts, and tends not to sugar-coat things. She does, however, tend to engage in verbal spars and matches against ponies who may or not realize she'd doing it. This is not malicious on her part, she just enjoys the wordplay.

 

She has a talent for making magical constructs. These typically manifest as a slightly translucent plane of force, though she can control the shape and size, and by adding or cutting off more magic she can also control the resiliency of it. Her objects are not physical, and therefore do not move or act without her direction. This makes balls or weapons impossible and impractical.

 

Instead, she tends to use her spell to make short-term immovable barriers, shackles, or platforms for acrobatics. This feeds into her preferred form of exercises as well, using these platforms as safety nets for parkour, allowing her to explore portions of the city ordinarily inaccessible to non-pegasi. This occupies quite a lot of her free time. Most of the rest is spent around the guard barracks, or reading.

 

Like most guards, she has a strong preference for things being orderly; unlike some guards, she thrives under pressure and is usually quick to react to chaos.
