Name: Ouranos, often shortened down to Ori

Gender: Male

Age: Pup, equivalent to a young colt

Species: Chamrosh

Eye color: Vivid green

Body Make-Up: Ori's bird-half is an Osprey. His lower half seems to resemble some mix of grey wolf and domestic dog.

Fur and Feather colors: The feathers on top of his head and around his crest are deep red in color, with the feathers at the top sporting just a tint of a brighter red. The wolf part of Ori's body is a lighter shade of red, with darker patterns up top leading down to a light cream color along his legs and underbelly.

Physique: Fairly standard for his species, Ori is nonetheless a little bit taller than the average Chamrosh, putting him almost at level with most Griffons his age. His body is young and healthy, thanks to a steady diet and the wilderness living he grew up in.

Residence: Ori's pack is nomadic, moving throughout the wilds to accommodate changes in weather or prey patterns, but they generally stay within the The Tarpan mountain range, with a few excursions down to the Soggalong Swamps.

Unique Traits: Given his upbringing in a pack that lives primarily off the wild, Ori is a keen survivalist, having learned how to live off the land from a very early age. Though he is still young and discovering what his role in the pack should be, the Chamrosh has all the makings of a great tracker, along with a good sense for ambush striking. Ori also has lower than average strength for a Chamrosh, but makes up for it in agility and reflexes.

Aside from his physical skills, the young Chamrosh holds a somewhat newfound interest in architecture, sparked by one of his rare visits to Talonapolis. After living in the wild for all of his life, Ori is often left in awe at the strange yet marvelous dwellings he sees in cities and towns, even if he himself feels strange stepping paw in one of them. He can sometimes be found doodling architectural designs in the sand, and has, on occasion, made some rather impressive mud castle structures.

History: Though Ori has never resented his upbringing and the lifestyle of his parents, he could admit to being just a little bit lonely in his early years. Ori's father, a somewhat revolutionary Chamrosh who partitioned his lifestyle in the wild with trades and visits into cities, met a beautiful Griffon while he was bartering some game in Talonapolis. The two were quick to fall in love, though his father held reservations, wishing for any offspring of theirs to experience a true Chamrosh heritage. Ori's mother, however, easily agreed, having grown a bit bored with her lavish lifestyle in Talonapolis. The two dropped off all their belongings and headed west, back to his father's homeland.

Ten years later Ori was born, his parents' delayed due to his mother's adjustment to her new lifestyle. The two of them were overjoyed, and Ori spent a year he doesn't remember running around the wilds of his homeland. After eleven years however, his mother grew more and more homesick, loving her family but missing the familiar sights and sounds and structures of Aquellia. His father was a bit morose, but as a few other Chamroshes left back over the sea, he was reminded how his son would not have to be entirely deprived of his heritage. Finally relenting, the small family dropped everything they had, yet again, to move back east to Aquellia.

With Griffon cities easily within claw's reach again, Ori's mother quickly cheered up, even though his father still insisted on a mostly Chamrosh upbringing. This suited her just fine, and the three of them settled down with a Chamrosh pack living within the Tarpans. Unfortunately for Ori, the pack was a relatively old one, consisting of older families whose offspring had already separated off to form their own packs. Ori was left the only pup within the pack, and though he never wanted for affection or attention, the lack of playmates his own age left him improperly socialized and introverted.

Still, Ori relished the wide open spaces and large mountain ranges, and never had a care in the world. It wasn't until he was older that his father took Ori along for a trip into Talonapolis, so that the young Chamrosh could see and experience a Griffon city. Ori was - figuratively - floored, near overcome with the hustle and bustle of the large and booming city. The levels upon levels of buildings are what truly fascinated him, despite him never having lived in one himself.

Talonapolis wasn't the only city his father was interested in, however. Despite his appreciation for the traditions of Chamrosh, Ori's father still looked to the east, towards the pony kind that tilled the ground with their magic and made it produce food for them. He felt that Chamroshes could still learn new things while keeping to their noble heritage, and this belief eventually sparked excursions into Equestrian territory, exploring and learning and living off different kinds of lands. He still considers his family's home amongst the pack in The Tarpans, but every once in a while, father, mother, and son will up and move into Equestrian for a little while. Ori has, so far, been into Equestria only once, and finds the prospect a bit off-putting, though he willingly and quietly follows his parents whenever they may lead him.

Character Summary/Personality: Because of the lack of Chamrosh pups his age in the pack his family lived among, Ori never learned how to properly socialize and interact with others. Ori is a quiet, unassuming, and rather solemn pup who finds contentment sitting by himself to play in the sand or mud. Rarely does he go out of his way to speak to others, and if he does, it is often only to give a brief acknowledgement. Because of his distant social behaviors, Ori is often viewed as standoffish, shy, or aloof, all of which are untrue - he simply does not know how to behave around foals and pups his age. It is not often he finds a willingness to first approach another.

Once he does get into some interaction however, Ori is more animated and active, carefully muted behaviors giving way to foalish and excitable instinct. Most of the time, the young Chamrosh has to have some example of what to do before he does it - for instance, a game of tag will usually result in Ori simply standing there, until somepony tags him and runs away, prompting him to return the favor. Somepony who takes the lead will find Ori quiet but responsive, eager to play with others even if he doesn't know how. He can, however, sometimes freeze up even in the midst of a play session, not knowing what he is suppose to do or how he is suppose to react. This awkwardness can cause Ori to close in on himself, feeling foolish and out of his league.

Despite his affinity for staying on the sidelines, Ori houses a natural curiosity that will spark with almost anything that catches his interest. The wolf's blood in him gives Ori an almost instinctual incentive for sniffing out interesting or unusual smells, or chasing small animals that trigger his chasing reflexes. Digging is also a favorite pastime of his, as is flying to and from tree branches. For all of his solemn and modest behavior, Ori is still an excitable pup filled with wide-eyed wonder at the new and unexplored. All of his restrained behavior around other pups also has the detrimental effect of exploding ferociously on rare occasions, if Ori is provoked enough - usually sparked by frustration at himself for his awkwardness in an unfamiliar and difficult situation.

It takes a special type of pony to draw Ori out of his shell, if only because the shell is all the young Chamrosh knows. It's relatively easy to overlook the reserved and mild-mannered pup who sits quietly on the sidelines, amusing himself with sand castles while others run around and play. But anypony who stops to lend Ori a helping hoof can find the same foalish innocence in the young Chamrosh that gives way to a healthier and more natural social bond.
