[Seaddle] Balder's Gait

Dubstep

Recommended Posts

Ice Storm could only chuckle back as the bou countered that he couldn't make any promises about there being any food left on the buffet, and that while he looked scrawny, when he started eating, he could out eat the best of them. "Well then, I'll make sure to hit the buffet before you get up there then and make sure that I get everything I'll want before hurricane Balder hits," she smiled as he commented to follow the ponies around here. He mentioned that most of the locals would know the good spots to go for lunch and since it was around lunch time, it would be the easiest way to find a good place to eat. "Sounds good to me, let's head in that direction then."

The caribou giggled softly and smiled, glancing around again, still sniffing at the air occasional while his ears tilted to and and fro. The rain had settled for the time being, and the faint scent of grilled flowers could be smelled if one paid close enough attention. The sound of pattering hooves off in the distance that grew fainter told Balder that it was somewhere down the road and around the corner! "This way! I never thought that the tracking skills that Solvi taught me would help finding a restaurant."

With a spring in his step, Balder hurried on down the road, skidding slightly as he turned the corners, nearly falling on a few occasions, his legs flailing to comedic effect before planting back firmly on the ground. After a short distance the two finally found a nice little bistro. The door was left open to let the sound of the rain that had been falling in, and the delicious smells of toasted sandwiches and hoofmade soups out. The caribou's stomach growled just from the smell alone!

(Super apologies on the delay, been super busy and have been in the dumps on creativity recently)

Ice Storm followed the Balder though the market place as well as the other ponies that were in the area. After a few moments, the came across a very pleasing aroma of a differnt variety of soups salads, sandwiches and the likes came across her senses. Balder seemed to be a bit more enthusiastic about the trot that she was, and apparently taking the more dangerous method as she about saw him eat the sidewalk a few more times from trying to skid around the some of the turns that they had to go around in order to get the the small cafe that they were now standing in front of. "Hehe, it would definitely seem like one's at his tracking skills than he is his walking skills," she playfully remarked with a small giggle. She approached the open door and gestured inside with her hoof. "Shall we?"

Balder chuckled a little and blushed, lifting one of his forelegs and comically letting it dangle "Try walking around on these stilts for a day and you'll see! But yes, let us shall!" the caribou dipped his head to the mare as he stepped inside the cafe, taking another deep breath of the delicious smells that clung to the air.

To be sure, Balder and the bow he carried got more than a few confused and almost concerned glances from some of the patrons. Though most quickly went back to eating. Other caribou had likely come and gone with some sort of gear with them...Just likely none as lanky as this one. "Stars, everything looks so good." he mumbled out loud as he gazed at the hanging menu. "I don't even know where to start..."

Ice Storm couldn't help but cover her mouth as she let out a small giggle as Balder held his hoof up and let it dangle, telling her to spend a day on his "stilts" and she'd understand. They both then made their way into the bistro and Ice Storm found herself intoxicated by the aroma of the dishes that they were serving. She heard Balder mention as he peered through the menu that he had no idea what to start and likewise she was the same way. She supposed they could always take the more traditional route. Before she could raise a hoof the waitress came over to them and began speaking. "Oh! Gud afternoon Misurre, Ma'dam, Velcome to Vircelli's Bistro! Might I start you with something to drink?"

"Actually I was just about to call somepony over. We're both from out of town so we have never been her before so we wanted to know what you would recommend food wise. As for drink, if you have strawberry soda, or tea, or strawberry flavored anything, I'll take that!" she smiled a bit not so casually hinting at what her favorite fruit was.

"Mais oui, bien sûr! Today our specials are a wonderful Mesclun, a delightful salad made from chervil, arugula, lettuce, and endive. And for soup we have a spicy tomato basil bisque, made with fresh tomatoes, basil, heavy cream, and jalapeños." the waitress said with a smile. "And most certainly, we have several kinds of teas, strawberry included. Or if you would like, we also have a strawberry lime cider as well."

Balder's stomach growled hungrily at every little mention of food. It all sounded so amazing! Then again so did just a full head of lettuce at this point. "Uhh. I think I'll have that soup! It sounds pretty tasty." the caribou tapped his chin in thought before speaking again. "Oh and some raspberry tea! Iced if you can."

The waitress pulled a small notebook and pen from her uniform and began jotting down the orders. "Très bon! And for the madame?" she inquired, turning towards Icy once more.

Ice Storm listened and nodded as she heard the waitress list off what the specials of the house was for the day. Everything that she listed off to Ice Storm sounded amazing! She coudln't wait to try everything that she was mentioning. From the salads to the soup, to the teas. She heard Balder say that the soup sounded pretty tasty, and that he would take that as well as some of the raspberry tea. Ice Storm looked up and nodded as the waitress turned back to her. "I think I'll go ahead and take the house special salad and soup, with that Strawberry limade! That all sounds amazing!" she said with a smile.

"Très bon! I will have that right out to you!" the waitress responded as she took their menus and headed towards the back.

Balder glanced idly around the bistro while the mare made her...The caribou suddenly stared off into the distance in realization before gently smacking himself with a hoof in the face. "Oh gosh I'm so stupid sometimes." he started, kicking a hoof across the floor, embarrassed. "I forgot to even ask your name. I'm sorry, I get a little scattered brained occasionally and things slip my mind before they can even get in." with a small chuckle, he made his way towards and empty booth and took a seat...As best as he was able. The tables certainly weren't made with caribou in mind, let along ones so tall.

Ice Storm gave Balder a gentle smile when he asked about her name. she had to fight off a small blush of her own for also not even thinking of offering her name to him after he had told her his. That was normally something that she did right up front, but they had gotten so caught up in the conversation and the events that followed that it must have just slipped her mind. A second after she heard him ask her name, she smiled and started to reply with the waitress brought their drinks over to them. "Thank you very much!" she smiled before turning back to Balder. "Hehe, my apologies myself for not mentioning my name earlier. That's usually one of the first things I do. My name is Ice Storm, but most of my friends call me Icy," she responded with a smile.

The caribou smiled brightly as the drinks were brought to the table. Thank ancestors for straws, he thought as he leaned down to take a long sip of his tea before sitting back up straight. "Icy, got it! I'm really bad at remembering some things, but names and faces I rarely forget!" Balder chuckled softly and squirmed in the booth, trying to find a better position to sit in. "Father always told me to never forget the face of an ally. Because when you're surrounded by enemies, it may be the only face in the crowd that matters...Or something like that."

Ice Storm let out a small smile when she heard the bou said that while he may not be good at remembering a lot of things, he was good at remembering names and faces. She listened to his words when he spoke to, about how his father had told him to never forget the face of an ally, cause in the midst of enemies, it was the only face that mattered. Ice Storm could see the truth in that statement and kept that in mind for later. She though about her role in EPIC and if they would ever end up in a situation like that. It was true, EPIC wasn't primarily front-line ponies, but every pony needed to know some combat skills she felt, especially if they were on an important mission of some kind. For now though, her only goals was the shop that she was going to be opening soon, as work from EPIC seemed to have died down with WRAITH being a lot less active for the time being. "I can definitely see how remembering a face would be beneficial on the battlefield. I do hope that I won't see many battles in my time, but I have a feeling that I'll see a good bit of them. Especially if they are around heavily populated areas. I'm sure you've heard about what happened at the Crystal Empire?"

Balder nodded his head softly. "I hope the same. Fighting may be necessary in some case, to defend yourself or to keep things you care about or to have fun when it's...well. Done safely. But I think a lot more caribou are starting to see that maybe conquest isn't the best way to go about things. the caribou said, just as the waitress returned and dropped their meals off with a happy smile and a dip of their head before returning to work, which Balder returned in kind.

When Ice Storm brought up the events that transpired in the Crystal Empire, the young bull frowned and nodded once more. "Yes, father told me a lot about it. None of our clan took part in it, but neither did we try to stop anything. Our clan reads the stars, and the seers said then was not a time to act, but to observe the changes at hoof." he took a small bite of his soup, giving a content 'Mmm' and a shiver. It tasted amazingly, and was just hot enough to warm your whole body up for a moment before fading away. "But father eventually reached a decision, and our clan now wholeheartedly follows the High King. We hope that in time, the rest of the clans will as well."

Ice Storm listened as Balder spoke, saying that while sometimes fighting is necessary in some cases, like defending ones self or to keep the things and ponies you care about safe, or even when it's done for fun, albeit safely. That comment made her raise an eyebrow. Mainly because there wasn't a safe way for her to fight. Her ice magic was either supportive or destructive, there really wasn't any in between, at least not in combat anyway. She also heard him said that the Baribou are learning that conquest isn't the bet way to go about things, to which she nodded. "I can definitely see some of the benefits having everything under one rule. One set of laws, one set of rules, and about as much peace as there can be, but regardles of whether it's multiple nations, or one large nation, there will always be factions that don't agree with each other. That alone would be enough to spark uprisings if they got enough power behind them," she spoke in reference to at this moment there were two factions that stood that way in Equerstria at the moment, and she was a part of one of them.

When she heard him start mentioning the events of the Faire, and how his father told him a lot about what happened, she listened. She wanted to try to pick up on any information that she could to try to identify where the clan stood and where there allegiences were. True, Balder was sitting her next to her enjoying lunch with her, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't one that just left the clan. Sure it was highly unlikely that he was a spy or anything of the like, but her training in EPIC had taught her to be wary of information that was freely given. She listened as Balder told her that none of his clan had taken part in the raid, however, they hadn't done anything to stop it either. That his clan read the stars and the seers told them to wait, that the time to act was not yet among them. He also mentioned though that his father did make a decision after the fact and that his clan wholeheartedly supported the High King, which was the most important information that she needed to know.

Right about then, their food had been delivered, and she wasted no time digging into the salad. She could definitely telly that everything was nice and fresh. The lettuce was crisp, the carrots were delicious with a good snap, and the tomatoes were bursting with flavor. She could see why it was a popular spot around here, and she thought about how close it was to the place where she was looking to open up her frozen parlor. This would definitely be a good place to go for lunch if she opened up there. Although her thoughts did quickly come back to what Balder had said about the Faire.

"We had no idea it was coming ourselves. Although I suppose that goes with out saying. It is rare that the ones that are being invaded know about the invasion ahead of time, but I was actually one of the mares in the Spire, so I was one of the ones that initially confronted the Red Jarl directly. Since our guards had all been placed under a brainwashing spell, it then fell upon us to protect the princesses. I wasn't about to give them any location and was ready to defend with what I could until they got a hold of Princess Twilight. She was already unconscious and used her to open a vault, which they said housed something they were looking for at the time, so we were trying to stop them from opening it. It turned out, the vault was rigged with explosives, and it sent the princess and the Jarl flying and that was when the real fighting broke out.

Unfortunately, the Spire was the ballroom of the Faire, and not many ponies there were capable of fighting, so I took it upon myself to get all of the ponies who either couldn't fight, or had no means to fight, out of the spire, which included the unconscious princess. So I had to rush through the middle of the fighting the best I could without getting hurt, stabbed, cut, or anything of the like, which I was only moderately successful at. I managed to get to the princess, but in doing so took a spear to my side, it was a glancing blow is it was only a slice instead of penetrating into me, but it still hurt pretty bad. I did what I had to do though, I covered it up with my armor of ice, and I did my self proclaimed job of getting everypony else out of there.

Thankfully, one of my other friends there that I was helping out had his own airship there that we could get out on, cause we managed to just get out before the entire thing came down. I don't want to think of how many ponies were still inside the spire when it fell.... but that was the day I joined one of the primary defense forces in Equestria, to make sure something like that never happened again. Truth be told, we'd probably be short one princess now if I hadn't gotten her out when I started rounding the others up to get out. Everypony else was to focused on fighting the Jarl than getting the princess to safety." She told him, giving him a live recollection of the events that had transpired.

Balder nodded solemnly as Ice recounted the events of the Crystal Faire. His clan, even in the past, rarely participated in raids or pillaging. It left them an oddity to many of the other clans an likely would have ostracized them or worse were it not for their star reading. Fortunes read, weather predicted, divining, that sort of thing kept the more superstitious caribous either afraid their fate could be changed by them, or continually coming to Kareheim to seek their wisdom. Either way, the retelling from someone who witnessed it from the pony side was humbling to say the least. He felt really bad for all the ponies and stuff that got hurt and lost their homes and businesses.

"It's such a shame that it happened. I know that we caribou have always been seen as, well...I guess there's no better word than savage I think. Looting, fighting, drinking, pillaging..." the calf idly stirred the straw in his tea and stared down at it. What would his family say in a situation like this? "Though not everybou is like that. As awful as what happened was, it was a uh, shoot what is that word...uhm...Oh! Catalyst, it was a catalyst for change. It got a lot of caribou thinking, for good and for ill, but it still got them thinking. I wouldn't be here trying to help mend the rift in my own little way if it didn't happen. So many things would be different. Bad things happen so the good feels better...or uh...something like that. I'm not good at this sort of stuff." he said with a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck just as the waitress brought their food to the table with a little smile and a bow before returning to work.

Ice Storm listened as Balder seemed to take in and respond to what she had told him. That something like that happening was a shame and that caribou for the most part had been seen as savage by most, and as much as she wanted to, she couldn't even really deny it. She knew that there was a softer side to them and this was a case and point of it that you can't judge all based on the actions of a few. Ponies were the same way and she's come to know that to be true many times. There are some ponies out there that she would dare say be worse than some of the bou that she had come across, and the only ones she'd come across before today were the ones in the crystal Empire, which some were good and some were well, the ones that caused everything else. He did say though that as tragic as the event was, that it was a catalyst for change. That she couldn't agree more with. She herself had changed quite a bit from that encounter. The will inside of her to protect others and make sure that ponies stayed out of danger grew and boiled over to a point where she had no moral choice other than enlist in the organizations that she had to protect it.

"That is true. So many things would be different right now, and at this point, I don't know if that would be a bad thing, but one thing that event did do was make sure that something like that never happened again. That's why I've made it a point and taken up positions as a specialist in Equestria's naval unit, as well as a proud member of another unit of which the name I cannot disclose. All I can say is that we are a group that works behind the scenes to keep Equestria safe. Bad things happened yes, but you're right, some good did come out of it. The true destiny behind my cutie mark has been shown. While making snow cones for everypony and putting smiles on their faces is fun. My real destiny is to make sure everypony gets to have those smiles. Or at least it is now, thanks to that," Ice Storm responded as she finished her salad and her drink.

It was strange, in a way, to think that one event could cause so much to change. But then again, he wasn't there. From the way he sounded he was glad for that. Where would he be if things hadn't panned out the way they had? Speaking of pan, this soup was really good. Almost as if lost in thought he glanced down to his food. With how spicy this was it would easily keep one warm through a Whitescar winter. How cold were Equestria winters? Should he have brought something extra? Oh, extra! He should have gotten some bread sticks to go with this soup and-wait no there was a conversation being had.

"Huh? Oh yeah sorry! Destiny or fate or whatever you want to call it...It's a strange thing isn't it? Everything changes the course of your future and stuff. Like if you had gotten the soup instead of me. Destiny is like uhm...a boat! Sometimes we're left to the mercy of the sea and sometimes we plot our own course!" the young caribou grinned, proud that he was able to work out what he felt was a darn fine analogy! "But in the end, it's our choice of destination."

To say that destiny had a mind of it's own was to put it mildly, but at the same time what he spoke was true of itself as well. A pony's destiny, or fate, or whatever anypony refereed to it as, was often dictated by whatever was needed at that point in time. Like herself for example. Ice Storm for the most part was just a shop owner for the most part, and that's what she started her destiny with. Now, she was in route to be one of the headmasters in the Canterlot Magic Guild, she was a front runner for Equestrian Defense, and she was an astrologist. Her own path couldn't be any more up in the air if she wanted it to be. At the same time though, she was content with where she was in her life.

"That is very true, and there are so many ways that it can make itself apparent. I just kinda wish it didn't take a catastrophe to point me in the direction that I neeed to be going in and that I could have been guided to it without that kind of a push. But, that opened my eyes to all the real possibilities with my magic. It has so many uses for it that sitting behind a counter making snow cones is only a flake of potential in a blizzard of possibilities. Especially with all the protective properties that ice holds naturally, let alone magically reinforced ice," she smiled as she finished her own soup and left enough bits on the table to cover both of their meals and then some. "That was really good. The close proximity of this place would do well for my own shop for future employees to have a good spot to go to for lunch," she smiled looking down. "Hmm, I have two more buildings to go look at on my list. Unfortunately both of them are on the opposite side of the city. Perhaps we could figure out where the park is, and explore a bit more of the city," Ice suggested to her caribou counterpart.

With little of his own food left, it didn't take long for Balder to finish off his meal. It seemed that his new friend was eager to get back to the streets and check out her prospects for her shop, and the caribou couldn't blame her! "Gosh, sometimes I wish I could use magic. It always sounded like a really helpful thing to have. But the only thing magic I have is my bow." Balder wiggled and squirmed his way out from the booth with only a mild amount of stumbling.

"As comfy as it was, I don't think these were made for the long of leg. At least I can still feel them ehehe! I think getting out and moving again sounds like a great plan, I'd love to be able to see more of the city anyway." the caribou gave a little grin and a nod. Small of a trip as its been so far, it's proven rather eventful. A new friend, a good meal, and he gets to see more of the city! "So, to the park it is then?"

At the way that the current things were setting themselves up, Ice Storm felt content. She listened to Balder comment on how he wished that he could use magic and that it was always a helpful thing to have, but the only thing that he had was a bow. "Magic is useful, but at the same time if used incorrectly, or using too many more strenuous magics quickly can be quite dangerous. I know that if I go on a mission with my unit that I have to use a large amount on, it takes me a few days to recover before I can cast basic spells without getting weak or sick. It's actually very easy to do, which is why while I do know how to teleport, I don't do it often. Cause it has a tendency to make me very sick to the point where moving is not an option. That's gotten a bit better though," she explained to him. It really was fascinating how magic really worked, and even then, it was only basic theories because there was little that they actually knew about it. Ice Storm was aware of Auras, and the flow of Aether, from the classes at the college, but aside from that, even the masters of their crafts didn't have much knowledge in it. Every magic user knew though knew that magic was both a gift and a curse, depending on the circumstances, especially elemental magics.

When she heard him comment on the booth, and how he coudl still feel his legs after sitting in them for so long, she couldn't help but giggle. He seemed to agree with the idea of getting out and moving again, and seemed to like the idea of the park. With a nod, she made her way out of the door after leaving a good amount of bits on the table for a tip. When she got out of the cafe, she looked down at the map and was trying to figure out where they were in the city so that they could try to find a park that they could relax in and take a look around. "It looks like the closest park is a few miles down that direction," she said pointing towards the western part of the street. "Shouldn't take too long to get there as long as I'm reading the map right," she finished folding up said map.

On her ongoing work to attempt to improve diplomatic relations with the citizens of Equestria and it's rulers Sigrun would be remiss to Forego the sights of this lovely land. The relative closeness of Seaddle to her homeland of Whitescar made it an ideal starting point for acquainting herself with the culture of one of Equestria's lesser traveled venues (at least by caribou standards.) The stories of this land's diversity were evidently not without merit. Cynogriffins, dragons, ponies, zebras: There were sightings of them in almost any direction she looked. For obvious reasons though, She saw little to no caribou. No horns that seemed familiar rising above the heads of others could be spotted amongst these many crowds... well, Save for her own.

As usual Sigrun saw fit to head out on her own for now, Her young ward Limi currently out and exploring Equestria on his own... with the occasional checkup by the guards. This left the Chieftain to go out and find her own excitement in Seaddle. It was strange finding herself in a place so peaceful. Back home there was always the worry of a raid coming down on you or a massive beast barreling through your farm or settlement. Here there were happy faces, laughter, bright sunshine, so many things that the caribou of whitescar experienced so very little of. It was sad really... enough to bring a tear to the eye of a hardened veteran of the battles in her homeland such as sigrun... well at least that's what she told the various passersby who commented on her tearing eyes and sniffles.

Since arriving in Equestria she'd learned the hard way that she was not built for this kind of climate and in the presence of the pollen laden breeze of Seaddle and the phantasmagorical sampling of scents around her it was made even more obvious to her. Normally a picture of strength and vigor was left drained and sniffling thorough the streets, despite her alergic ails she pushed on with a characteristic enthusiasm that would not be dulled on an admittedly laid back mission of diplomacy. One turn around a corner though brough her face to face with a very verdant flower cart and well...

The resulting sneeze not only toplled the cart but sent the cow tumbling backward until she Bumped harshly into a lanky looking younger member of her species and also a small unicorn at his side. This was off to an amazing start wasn't it? The Cow's husky tone was riddled with the subtle sounds of congestion as she got back up and rubbed at her muzzle, Looking to the cart owner and bowing her head in apology and then repeating the process to the two she had bumped in to.

"My apologies... Are you alright?" She asked the duo as she rummaged through her bags to see if she could find the bits to help pay for any damages to the cart across from them.

Balder streeeeeetched. Never sit in a cramp space that long without a little stretch, he's learned that the hard way before. Giving his thanks to the waitress and staff, Balder shorly followed along with Ice. "Magic Sickness huh? Sounds like an extreme sort of cold or flu. But I'd probably use it for things like levitating stuff or maybe a spell that could make fires warmer on cold nights. That would be great!" he said as the two stepped outside of the cafe.

Though before the caribou was able to comment on just how long the walk to the park would take, everything went white! Or rather, brown. Something both soft and hard had smacked into Balder and sent him tumbling. Who was ringing bells?...And why were their suddenly so many birds out! And gosh was there always two of everything here? The calf grabbed his wobbling head and shook it a few times to try to get everything back in alignment. "Ooogh. I'm alright, I've had worse! Ahaha!" he replied as he got to his hooves after about three tries. "Don't worry about a thing Miss Sigrun...." Balder paused for a moment. "Miss Sigrun! Wow what are you doing here?" he asked excitedly, wasn't every day that one got to see the Chieftain of Clan Askr.

When she heard her new friend ask about the magic sickness being like an extreme sort of cold or flu, she nodded. "Kind of, it's a bit harder to explain than that. The problem with magic is, if you start using more than you're capable of, your body starts using it's own energy that in needs to survive in order to power whatever magic it's using. Most of the time a unicorn will pass out before they get to that point, but in the heat of the moment, adrenaline can keep the unicorn alert enough to do some serious damage. I used so much magic in the attack on the Empire that I couldn't use basic levitation. And while I'm not sure that I would be too keen on fires, I generally use my magic to make things colder. In fact, I'm physically incapable of making any sort of flame with my magic, and likewise, any sort of extreme heat or open flame can completely debilitate me. I don't work well with fire for the most part," she giggled a bit.

Her giggle was cut off though when she felt something smack into her side with a decent enough force that it sent both her and Balder to the ground. It didn't really take to long for her to regain her senses before looking over to what had hit them. It was another caribou. Not just any Caribou though... it was Jarl Sigrin! The Jarl of Askr was in Seaddle!!! She wasn't sure why, but if there was one thing she did know, was that she was one of the friendlier ones. She hadn't met her personally, but she heard the talk from her stay in the Crystal Empire Medical Center while she was there. Apparently her clan had come to help with the damages that had been done to the empire, but arrived too late to help stop the siege. When she heard Balder speak, he only confirmed what she though, identifying the jarl. "We are fine, thank you," she said calmly before standing back up, then knealing respectfully to her. "It is an honor to finally meet you in the flesh. I've been wanting to thank you for your help in the Crystal Empire. I would have done it there, but I wasn't allowed to leave the medical center."

That voice... She recognized this one. The frame of this tone's owner was definitely different from when she had first seen him! That's a caribou for you though: They grow straight up so quick! If she recalled right he was from clan Kare, a clan that had settlements all across whitescar: Large enough though to meet regularly with other chieftains. One of those meetings were where she recalled this young bull, when he was more bordering a calf. "Balder!" She perked up slightly, "Balder of Clan Kare! I haven't seen you since you kept staring at me across the map board in the High King's keep! I'm actually making my way north with my clan now that the repairs to the empire have been finished, I felt I should sample the local flavor of pony lands so adjacent to our own."

The familiar face of her kin not of blood was refreshing enough to put a bounce in a tired, sniffling cow's step it seemed. Another unfamiliar tone also managed to give her some energy though, seeing as it came from a pony who was willing to thank her for her clan's work with the empire! She smiled down at the pony, "It was an honor to assist them... they needed a helping hoof and it was a pleasure to visually remove that work of rebel clans from our allies. It is nice to meet you, miss... I'm sorry I don't believe I've gotten your name."

"It's great to see you Miss Sigrun, it has been a long time!" the calf replied with a smile. When he was little he did often tag along with his father to meetings with the High King and the other important members of the clans of Whitescar. Never the serious ones as they were 'no place for a child'. But the more light hearted and less formal meetings he was allowed to come. He learned much from them!...Or he would have if he had paid more attention to what was actually going on at the time. "I just arrived in Equestria today, myself! Father sent me as an ambassador of our clan. Of sorts."

Ice Storm cave the chieftain a warm smile when she heard her say that it was an honor for her and her clan to help remove what the rebel clan had done to an ally. She also added that it was nice to meet her as well before asking for her name. Ice Storm was unaware of Caribou cultures, but she knew at least in pony culture, a well met greeting was often accompanied with a hoofshake. So that she did, or at least she extended her hoof to Jarl Sigrin. "My name is Ice Storm. I would have been helping clean up the courtyard, but the wouldn't let me out of the medical center. I was one of the ponies fighting in the spire before it fell. Myself and a couple others just barely got to an airship with Princess Twilight before it came crashing down. From what I was told, I didn't even wake up for two days," she smiled. "Otherwise I would have come and gave thanks then."
