Bellosh Posted January 2, 2016 Report Share Posted January 2, 2016 In the absence of finalized documentation about the approved extended-canon species, here are the provisional guidelines to follow: A canon-extended species must be a concept that a fan who's only ever watched the show can understand without further lore explanation, like giraffes or camels. If a player cannot immediately use common-sense (or Wikipedia) to figure out the likely attributes, abilities, and limitations of a species, they cannot be considered permissible for play.
