Name: Bubble Bathysphere, AKA Bubble Bath

Sex: Female

Age: Mare (but just barely)

Species: Unicorn

Eye colour: Pink

Coat: Light Blue

Mane/Tail: Blue curly hair, turning white at the tips.

Physique: A swimmer’s physique, she's fairly thick but sleek, and just a touch shorter than your average mare.

Residence: Baltimare

Occupation: R.E.A. Navy Recruit, Underwater Specialist

Cutie Mark: A large pink bubble with a dark blue border resembling waves

As a foal, Bubble Bath found that she had a hard time doing much with her horn beyond making bubbles with it. Attempts to do most spells tended to sputter out into bubbly sprays. While she initially found it fun to make all kinds of bubbles, often foaming up baths, watching them blow about in the breeze, her inability left her behind other unicorn classmates who were learning to cast real spells.

During a field trip to the beach, a foolish foal with too little experience ventured too far out and was swept under the waves. Afraid to lose a friend, Bubble Bath swam out to save her, growing weary herself, sinking beneath the waves. Terrified she was about to drown, she blew a bubble as big as she could until it surrounded her. She could breath, and she could see her friend on the bottom! In blaze of bubbles, she floated them both back to the surface, where the life guards spotted them and brought them both back to shore, resuscitating the little pony. Bubble Bath's cutie mark appeared before she'd gotten back to shore.

Unique Traits: Bubble specializes in ‘bubble’ magic, really only good at making her magic take on spherical shapes, but she’s very good at it. Rather than telekinesis, she often floats objects she needs to carry inside bubbles, creates ‘bubble helmets’ for diving, a bubbles spray to blind enemies/propel through the water, bubble shields, etc. She’s proven relatively inept in ordinary spell casting, often getting her bubbles mixed in with other intentions with disastrous or humorous results.

Due to her upbringing and training in the navy, she's fairly versed in all things nautical, an able sailor pony.

History:

Salt Spray (father) & Sea Foam (mom) were about as happy as two sea ponies could be. Salt Spray was a brave Earth Pony that had worked at sea since he was a foal and eventually joined the Equestrian Navy, while Sea Foam was a coastal unicorn, known for collecting sea shells, pearls, and other beautiful bobbles and flotsam, weaving it into various decorations. The sea provided them their livelihoods and one another, and the only thing that made them happier were the little ponies they brought into the world. Still, after two daughters, Salt Spray had been hoping that perhaps the third child would be a little colt, but such was not to be when Bubble Bathysphere was born.

Her elder sisters Bubble Wrap and Bubble Gum were both very down to earth Earth ponies, Gum creating chewable confections while Wrap had begun working in packaging and shipping. Bubble Bath, on the other hand, had a love for the water and a fearless adventure streak in her that gave her family fits. Even as a foal, she often leapt before she looked into any body of water she found, ready to swim around. Despite many close calls, her attitude was nonchalant and cheerful, bubbly even. Bubble Bath knew things could be dangerous, yet she rarely let that slow her down, cheerfully rushing into potential disaster.

After gaining her cutie mark, Bubble Bath figured her bubbles weren’t just for fun, but something she could use to help other ponies- though fun was good too. She tried her hand at a lot of different spells, and found that, if it was based on a bubble, she managed pretty much just fine. She also spent even more time in the water, seeing how long she could stay under with or without a bubble assist, eventually developing her ‘nautilus’ maneuver, tucking up into a cannonball and blasting bubbles to propel herself backwards. It was fast, but sort of a blind shot in a direction without a mirror to provide some perspective.

After a brief stint as a lifeguard during her teenage years, she begged her parents to let her into the Royal Guard Recruits. Secretly overjoyed, Salt Spray argued with Sea Foam that the best way to get BB to quit was to let her try, and that she’d stop when she found out how hard training could be.

And it was a lot of work, but whenever BB thought she couldn’t go on, she thought about all the ponies she could help in the Equestrian Navy and pushed on, convinced her special destiny wasn’t just making bubbles for fun.

Between time with her father at sea, her mother on the shores, and her own time swimming, BB’s familiarity with the sea both above, below, and beside it proved a useful asset in passing her exams. She wasn’t the fastest or strongest pony running on deck, and there were unicorns whose magic outclassed her entirely in matters of warfare, however, her ability to orchestrate and carry out an amphibious search and rescue during a training exercise showed promise to some of her recruiters.

Despite this, her military career has been one of ups and downs, her practical and tactical abilities gaining her rank while her day dreaming and occasional recklessness often get her busted back down. It’s only been a short while since she’s been considered a full grown mare, and she’s hoping that she can keep her own personality in check to be a better officer.

Character Personality: Bubble Bath is sort of a paradox, a bubbly, happy go lucky pony whose sense of responsibility and career choice often force her to be more serious. She manages to be stoic for several hours at a time, before drifting off and daydreaming, getting carried away, goofing off, or acting before thinking. BB is most focused when she’s got something to do, putting her attention towards a task and curbing her mental wandering.

Character Summary: Bubble Bath is a more light hearted character with military ambition, doing her level best for Equestria because she believes she can make a difference, especially as part of a team. Unlike many of the more strict and serious military ponies, she’s prone to cartoonish pony behavior on occasion, despite her best efforts to the contrary.
