UPDATE: The username/display name system!Usernames and display names will be merged in IPB4. Currently, the upgrade is set to revert everyone to their username (the name you use to log in to Canterlot), so your log in information will not change. However, any display name you had will be reverted to your username. Everyone should be getting a reminder email about this within the next few days. Because of this change, we will be giving everyone a grace period of 4 weeks after the upgrade (until 13-March-2016) where they can select their own username. Changing your username will also change your log in name under the new system. Appropriateness of usernames, of course, will be subject to moderator discretion. After 13-March, any usernames changed will be made permanent. I'm sure you all have heard talk of board changes, and not just of the reorganization kind. Invision Power Board v3.x is the version we've been running since the changeover from Electronook to the IPS suite. About six months ago, IPS released v4.0 of the IPS suite. Since then the software has matured and developed an ecosystem of apps and plugins to expand functionality for IPB4 users. I believe that it is time to upgrade to IPB4. The new software package will give us a number of benefits, the most important being regular security and functionality updates, as IPB4 is the currently supported and developed version. IPB4 also promises a cleaner UI, improved backend for mod stuff, and more customization options. Upgrade time and day is still to be announced. Stay tuned!
