Oakly flipped back dodging the spells, upon halting he tilted his head to the side as Hazels katana flew past him. Oakly stood up and caught a charging Hazel by her throat and held her up, "A valiant effort my dear but I'm afraid you're time is up in this world." He told Hazel before throwing her into a blue stone, but instead of a hard hit, the stone seemed to liquidate and slowly pull Hazel inside of it. "Within minutes the tower will activate and resurrect the Dark Lord!" Oakly yelled victoriously. Black growled as he stood up, "Your not taking Hazel away from us!" He rushed Oakly lighting his hands up with icy auras, Ragnorak and Maple backed him up, but Oakly manuvered around them with ease.

Zao waved his left arm sending a massive vine out from the ground and batting Soul away. "Now, its about time I finish this. Great Tree Magic: Giant Man Eating Flower!" Zao slammed his hand to the ground summoning forth a huge flower with rows of jagged teeth, "Consume them!" At Zaos command the flower rushed towards Soul. Suddenly a burst of pure power expanded out disentegrating the maneating flower and knocking Zao back on his butt. Tavi and Ally were rowing across the water on a small boat with an unconscious Sun. Trax stood in front of Soul, his body was lit ablaze with a magic aura in the shape of a short sleeved cloak, "Come on Soul, this guy wants us to be serious, so lets give him Serious!"

"Hazel!" Silverthorn shouted as she ran towards the blue stone that was absorbing Hazel. "Silverthorn, don't! It'll take you too!" Autumn called, but Silverthorn didn't listen as she reached into the strange blue stone and grabbed Hazel's hand. 

Soul rolled over grunting in pain and used restoration magic to heal his wound from the spear. He glared at Zao angrily. "I'm going to make sure there's nothing left to bury, you worthless b@stard." He said angrily, conjuring the battleaxe again and gripping it tightly.

Oakly gritted his teeth and lit his hands up with a golden aura, "Get back from there!" He shouted as he hit away Black, Ragnorak, and Maple, Oakly turned to Silver and unleashing a shower of small golden meteors on her.

Zao grimmaced but was slow to react as Trax teleported behind him and kicked him towards Soul, Trax teleported away right after.

Autumn jumped in front of the meteors and casted a ward spell deflecting the spell. She grit her teeth as she struggled to hold the spell. Suddenly she felt a warming prescense as Kane came from behind and reinforced the ward. "Let's do it together." He said into her ear. Autumn smiled as they strengthened the defensive spell together. "Pull harder, Silverthorn!" Autumn called as Silver tried to pull Hazel from the stone. 

Soul let out a furious shout as he cleaved Zao in the side with the conjured axe. Suddenly the whole tower shook as Soul unleashed one of the rarest and deadliest forms of magic known to man. Out of his mouth came a unknown language and a massive wave of energy blasting Zao hard against the wall of the tower.

Hazel gasped for air as Silver pulled her out, "Silver, Autumn.... Kane...." She blinked looking around proud of her class mates. Oakly growled and threw his hands up crossing them, "I will not let you ruin this for me!" Suddenly a swirling black hole appeared above his hands, everyones shadows began to pull towards Oakly, Hazels eyes grew wide with dispair, "That spell! It cant be!" Oakly then lobbed the swirling black at them, "Heavenly Body Magic: Altarius!" As he threw it, Black slid in the way to sacrifice himself to save the others but another person stepped in front of Black. Kasey cast his red chains magic creating a barrier that blocked against the swirling black hole long enough till hole exploded. "Kasey!" Hazel screamed teary eyed, the smoke settled with Kasey standing with his back to them, only pants had survived the blast and his body was severely scared. "Hazel... I'm glad, I could see you again,... to see you're beautiful face one ... Last... time...." He spoke wearily before falling back, his eyes closed as he looked at his brother, exchanging a telepathic thought before death consumed him. "KASEY!" Hazel scramed as she scampered over to Kasey. Oakly sighed with annoyance before he felt the entire tower shake, "Dammît Zao, he's supposed to be taking care of them, not wrecking my tower."

Trax appeared high in the air with with a large conjured bow, "Evaporate you trash." He said harshly before firing a huge arrow, Zaos eyes flew open as he sped up at Trax on giant tree coming out of the ground, he tried to dodge the arrow but was directed right into it as Trax used his illusion spell to throw off Zaos eyesight. The explosion missed the tower and disentegrated Zao along with his tree. Trax landed next to Soul as his cloak dispersed, "He was tougher than we gave him credit."

Soul nodded. "Indeed he was. I prefer not to have to use the Dragon's Tongue but sometimes the enemy is too strong." He looked further up the tower. "Come on, let's end this." 

Kane, Autumn and Silverthorn all surrounded Oakly in a fighting stance. "It's over, Oakly. Stand down." Kane said sternly with a glare.

Trax nodded and stepped towards the tower walking flat into a sound invisible barrier, "Well thats fairly new." He said with his face up against the barrier.

Oakly chuckled, "Please, dont make me laugh." He said waving his hands around casting out his small meteors and hitting everyone back. Suddenly the tower shook again, but this time it came from their floor, the air became to grow colder. Blacks face was contorted with anger as a storm of ice and snow raged around him, "He was your friend! Your Brother! And you killed him! You made Hazel cry! I'll make you pay!" Black cast out a blizzard that made Oakly lose his footing, at that moment Black sped forward and hit him square in the jaw sending him up through the ceiling. Black reared back sucking in a powerful breath, "Dragon Slayer Scecret Art: Roaring Blizzard!" Black unleashed a swirling blizzard like nothing nature could make, the attack went up and blew the roof off the tower and carried Oakly higher into the sky. Black stumbled back as he calmed down then fell over unconscious. Ragnorak and Maple were a little stunned by that much power being unleashed at once. 

Trax looked up as they heard the blast, seeing a vortex of ice and snow, "Well, something set Black off, I've never seen him use that much magic power. Though right now he's probably unconscious."

The Tower suddenly began vibrate as it began absorbing the magica all around it, and even from those inside. "The Towers going out of control, we have to leave, now!" Ragnorak said picking up Blair, Maple began to cast a long range teleportation spell, "Hurry, get within the circle!" She yelled at them. Hazel held onto Kaseys body and didnt notice the floor caving in underneath her, suddenly she felt a warm hand push her away before the floor caved in, but she didnt see anyone there. Kaseys body fell through the floor and was lost below. At the last minute, Maple stressed herself and expanded the magic circle to cover under everyone and teleported them away. 

Trax grew solemn, "Aw crap." He said before touching Souls shoulder and they both teleported away.

The entire Tower lit up, but instead of a massive explosion, it imploded in on itself and shot a beam into the sky causing the ocean to grow choppy and violent.

After a few moments, Kane suddenly woke up. He caught part of the blast just before they teleported away and was knocked out. He carefully sat up to see Soul and Autumn over him. "Easy Kane, you're safe." They were now on the shore where they were before crossing the ocean to the tower. Suddenly about 20 armored men arrived, each holding a sword in one hand and had a spell ready in the other. They were Royal Battlemages, they served as both the police force of the school and elite guards for the city. "We saw the explosions from Canterlot. Is everybody alright?" Asked the Battlemages captain Moonshield.

Ragnorak and Maple were seperate from the others making sure Blair was alright. Trax made sure Sun and the girls were loaded onto a carriage and heading back to the College, before he met back up with Soul and the Battlemages Captain. Black was being bandaged up by some civilian doctors, he had a grumpy face but was alright through and through. Hazel stood at the edge of the sea starring out into the horizon, she placed a hand on her shoulder where she had felt the warm soothing touch of the person who'd pushed to safety. She wondered if Oakly had come to his senses at the last minute, saved her then sacrificed himself to control the explosion and send it into the sky, instead of it wiping out most of the eastern seaboard. "Oakly..... Kasey....."

The others were being helped into carriages by the Battlemages and we're waiting for escort back to the school. Moonshield saw Hazel standing by the shore and went to her. "When we get you all to safety we'll investigate and look for survivors." He said, trying to sound hopeful even though he knew it was useless. "We must get you home, ma'am." Soul put a hand on Hazel's shoulder. "He's right, Hazel. We must go."

"I know..." Hazel said turning away from the sea and heading to the carriage with the others. Trax glanced to the sea once more, "I get an ominous feeling, that what happened here today, is but the beginning of something bigger."

"I fear you might be right. We must tell the princesses and the Arch-Mage." Soul said.

The whole group finally made it back to the school, where a large group of students and teachers had gathered to see their return. It had been a long time since they were gone and many assumed the worst. Others had heard the sounds and saw the lights in the distance of the tower. The Princesses and Twilight Sparkle, who was also a princess but also the Arch-Mage of the school, where there to greet them. "I'm glad you're all alright. I could feel the dark energy from here." Twilight said in a caring tone.

"Thank you Headmaster, your kindness knows no bounds." Hazel getting to a knee before her, Trax and Black face palmed, Hazel behaved oddly sometimes and was very formal when it came to her Headmaster and Princesses.

Twilight sighed and shook her head, kneeling down and putting a hand under Hazel's chin and lifting her head up. "My dear, I appreciate the respect, but you don't have to be formal with me. I'm no different than you." She said sweetly. She stood back up and looked to Soul and Trax. "I would speak to you two about this, the rest of you are dismissed. Get some food and rest, you've earned it."

Hazel blushed nervously and stood up nodding, "Yes um uh Ma'm, right away. Lets go Black." She stammered walking off dragging Black by the collar.

Trax nodded and grew a little solemn, Laxus would no doubt be there as well just because they were involved in the incident.

When the younger students left, Twilight looked at Soul and Trax and sighed. "I appreciate that you two wanted to save the younger students, and you're probably the reason they're still alive, but please don't ever run off without my permission. I don't want anymore death coming to this school." She said in a kind tone that still made her point known. "Now, tell me about what you saw."

"Yes, we would also like to know as well." Celestia voice came from behind Twilight as her and Luna came up to them, Trax straightened up as Laxus was escorting them. The tall and built man with yellow short spike hair and a thunderbolt scar over his right eye, was one of the top Teachers at the Academy and Overseer of the Circle of Wizards, as well as Traxs adopted older Brother. His magical power is rumored to be up there with Alicorn magic and Dragon Toungue magic, though no student has ever seen him at his full strength, except for Trax and Soul during their first year at the Academy. Trax cleared his throat and spoke formally, "The Tower was a monument to a Dark Lord, which one is still unclear. The Leader was a man named Oakly Talon, though in the past the Tower originally belonged to a cult of black magic users."

Twilight thought for a moment. "What you speak of sounds familiar, I'll have to research it more. I'm sure there is something in my library that could provide us with an answer. As for this Oakly Talon, if I'm not mistaken I think he was a student here once." 

The younger students returned to the common area in their dorm. Kane winced as Autumn used healing magic to heal a burn on his arm. Silverthorn fell down on the couch as sighed. "What a day, huh?"

"Oakly Talon.... Yes, he and his brother were promising students, even at their young age. But sadly he was part of the group of children that was taken many years ago, Hazel was also one of them." Luna said remembering them, "Hazel was the only one to return, and she wasnt able to lead us to the others, more like someone was blackmailing her." Celestia nodded solemnly, "It would seem Oakly turned while he was there, but.... That doesnt seem right. Oakly and his brother Kasey were really kind, smart, and showed great leadership even at a young age." 

"Perhaps he was possessed?" Laxus suggested.

Soul thought for a moment. "I sensed a great deal of dark energy almost immediately when we got to the tower. It was something I hadn't felt in years. Almost like..." He trailed off as he thought of something but shook his head. "Anyway, it would seem like he would pause every so often to listen to something, as if someone were speaking to him."

In a dark, unknown area, a figure in dark robes knelt before an altar. An image of another dark figure appeared on the altar, although this one appeared demonic and his face was hidden except for his glowing red eyes and a mass of tentacles. "What is your bidding, my lord?" The mortal figure asked the image. "Oakly Talon failed to defend the tower. I feel that his possession is begging to wane. I want you to remind him that he is mine." The mortal figure, a powerful dark mage named Slipknot Hellfire, stood removing his hood. "As you wish, Lord Nergal."

"Sadly Oakly did not survive the blast, even Blacks nose couldnt pick up a trace." Trax said with a glance to Laxus, as a fellow Dragon Slayer himself, Laxus knew the extent of Blacks powerful ability to smell and distinguish different scents. "If thats the case then he is dead, it would take a miracle to escape that much magic energy released at one time. Though I was expecting a larger blast area." Laxus pondered, "I beleive Oakly came to his senses in time to use himself as sort of a lighting rod and sent the explosion into the sky instead." Trax suggested, it was true though, that blast should have wiped out them and most of the coastline taking thousands of lives. Celestia and Luna exchanged a glance, "A funeral will be held for Oakly and Kasey then, and though the other survivors werent from this school originally, they show potential as wizards, therefore they will be given acceptance into the Institute. If they choose." Celestia explained.

Hazel sat in her bathtub starring blankly at the water, Oakly and Kaseys faces appeared in her reflection but then vanished leaving just her, a small tear slid from her left eye as she started to weep.

Black moaned as he was forced to only sit in a chair in the commons room, Shade sat with him reading a book on Black Magic. "See what happens when you try to go beyond your level?" He teased monotonously, Black groaned but couldnt raise his hand to beat Shade up.

"That will be all for now. You two are dismissed." Twilight said to Soul and Trax. Soul nodded. "If you will excuse me, I have to get back to my research." Twilight said to the princesses. Soul looked at Trax. "You go ahead back, I have something to take care of." 

Blade soon entered the room. Although he was on the Circle, he had a good relationship with the younger students and visited them frequently. "Heard you guys had a rough day."

Trax smirked and nodded to him, "See ya later then." He said his farewells to the princesses and he walked off. Laxus and the Princesses dipped their heads to Twilights before they seperated to their duties of the day.

"You have no idea." Black moaned still feeling the hurt of the recent battle.

Hazel stood in front of her mirror washing her face, she looked up and froze as she saw Oakly starring at her, his face shown with sadness, but when she turned around he was gone. Hazel looked back to the mirror but saw nothing still, her shoulder started to feel warm from where she'd been pushed to safety. "Oakly..."
