After a bit more silence, Sicar turned away from the mare and began walking off.

"Farewell for now." He said, walking onto the field itself to try and find a partner. He had changed his mind now, he wanted a bit of practice.

She walked him walk off, and decided to 'officially' join the class.  She stepped from the shadows, ready to bid good morning to Chiron.

The next thing she knew, something hard thumped against her chest.

She was falling¬

Pain erupted across her chest and spread to her extremities.

Darkness blurred at the edges of her vision.

And she was gone.

She can fly?! With such a heavy looking weapon?! Midnight was stunned, the large weapon should have caused a Pegasus to be unable to fly, not only had Eclipse flown with grace, she was now barrelling down towards her weapon drawn! She found herself in a predicament. The movement of this mares dance was truly a masterpiece, and she should let the final move be this. But on the otherhand, this was HER performance!

As quickly as she could, flaring her own wings for the extra momentum, she threw herself backwards, using her wings to fly up into the sky and dodge the strike, bringing her crossbows to bare, both of them. She'd done the maths before. Each crossbow was capable of, at the current moment, firing out 1 shot every 2 seconds, meaning if she timed her dance right, she could fire 1 bolt every second. One shot from the left, then the right, and by then the left would have reloaded! So she opened fire on the mare below her.

So far the dance had gone well, and her opponent had botched the dance. Now Midnight had control over their waltz... Now it was a matter of time "A stunning first act..." she muttered to herself "Now lets see how the second goes~"

Eclipse landed hard on the ground, her opponent dodging her attack and flying up into the air. Eclipse was then met with another barrage of arrows from the mare, so she quickly got up and started spinning her halberd left and right to cut the arrows away from her. "I wonder..." Eclipse thought as she continued to slice every arrow that came at her. As soon as she had sliced an arrow, she got ready into a different position and batted an arrow back at the mare. The arrow tumbled in the air and went a little to the right of the mare's neck, missing the target. "Well, that failed. The arrow head wasn't even facing forward" she thought, quickly cutting down the arrow after the one she batted back.

The mare was definitely not like the other demigods she had fought before, the only question was why she hasn't come across her before? Although she is crazy, she is skilled with using her crossbows and has managed to dodge every one of her attacks. Speed seemed like the one thing she needs to take her down as Eclipse could only attack at a medium range.

Eclipse then quickly move away from the crossbow's line of fire and used her wings to bolt straight for the mare in the air. With all her strength, she swung as fast as she could at the mare. If the demigod had dodged the blade, Eclipse would use the spear butt at the other end of the halberd to jab into her body.

Her vision returned, if only for a second.  Her headed pounded, and she struggled to breath.  The only sounds she could hear were the beating of her frantic heart and labored breathing.

She tried to focus, and her eyes caught glimpses of the scenes around her.

Midnight fighting out another camper.

Midnight's bow and firing off arrows.

---

She tried to sit up...for it seemed she had fallen down.  Red heat rose to her face and she grimaced in pain.  She tried to clench her teeth or bare her teeth, but her muscles desired to fail her.  A sharp, wrenching pain stung into her, perhaps a result of her attempt to sit up.  The last thing she saw was the image of a faded arrow, plunged straight into her stomach...the arrow of Midnight.

---

Pain.  That was all she knew.  That was all she felt.  Her thoughts were jumbled and unwholy, confused and in a whirl.  She tried to gather herself, to will herself to wake up.  But she was so, so tired...and it hurt so, so much.  Surely, it wouldn't hurt to rest for just one.  More.  Minute~

Midnight grinned, was her opponent not going to charge into the air to meet her? Was she unaware of this move? Maybe was she wasn't all Midnight believed her to....!?!

'S-she...fired it back...She FIRED an arrow back at me...I...I never...that move wasn't...meant in this dance. I've never seen such a move before, the execution sloppy perhaps but...to create such a performance!?' Midnight was, nothing short, of stunned. So much so she had a moments lapse in her fight and her target had moved! Re-taking her aim and firing, noticing the mare throwing herself at her once again, the sharp weapon threatening her. She fired only a few move shots, one of them being so far off target Eclipse wouldn't be able to cut it down. This arrow, unaware to Midnight, found itself a target, in a fellow camper...

She did a quick flip around the blade, retaking her aim to hit Eclipse, the mare had brought herself too close! Her eyes turned cold seeing the butt of the weapon come flying towards her. Her opponent knew this dance all too well it seems. She could do nothing, it was too late, but watch as the butt rammed into her. Pain flared from her chest as she went backwards, losing control and crashing painfully into the ground with a cry of pain. Slowly, as her head stopped spinning, she stood up, shaking from the injury she'd just sustained. She glared at Eclpise, but not with hatred, but with respect!

"I may fall..But not like this! Bring it on, this is it! Out Final Act! Let the Final Act and Curtain Call Begin!" Midnight began firing at Eclipse, both crossbows firing as fast as they could as she charged, wings accelerating her, right at Eclipse! This would be the final act of their dance, but she refused to give up the dance until it was too late!

"Umm..." Eclipse started when she saw the mare fall, but the mare glared at her which kept her mouth shut. The mare recovered and charged at Eclipse, firing a storm of arrows at her again. With this barrage of arrows, Eclipse cannot afford to make a mistake or let anything break her concentration. Suddenly, she felt a sting in her right fore leg that slowed her movements. "I forgot to stretch my right ulnaris lateralis!" she furrowed her eyebrows, unable to pull back the halberd quick enough to block an arrow. The arrow flew past her face and went through her right wing. She clenched her teeth as she felt the pain, continuing to block the other arrows as she used her teeth to break off the head of the arrow so it wouldn't cause anymore injuries. Once the mare was close enough, she used her halberd to high jump over the demigod. She landed on her hooves behind the mare and use her rear hoof to kick at the mare's legs to bring her down. Eclipse was lucky that the arrow hit her wing instead of her body, at least she can continue to fight.

Sicar glanced back as he heard the sound of an arrow hitting flesh, his face impassive as he saw the unfortunate recipient. He watched her for a moment before looking to the source of the arrow, Midnight if he remembered correctly. After a few seconds of watching the fight, he went to Chiron, stopping next to the centaur.

"It would appear that she was hit by a stray arrow." Sicar said simply, indicating the mare with the arrow in her. He didn't wait around for Chiron's response, simply moving through the field looking for a sparring partner. The shadows almost seemed to writhe as he passed them, but it was by such a small amount that it would be a challenge for most to notice it.

Midnight grinned at the hit, finally her opponent's gotten their canvas wet! She continued her charge, well aware this was the final act! The curtain will fall on them! Firing as fast as possible, the girl let her concentration stutter for a moment, to which her opponent vanished! The Thestral let a wave of coldness consume her. Such grace, to move when her head shifted, such delicate art that could never be replicated! The girl and her large weapon were behind her, of that she was sure, and tried to move out the way! But she was clumsy, disorganised and slow and got kicked, the rear legs collapsing and the girl fell onto the ground, looking behind her. This dance was over, and the curtain fell on her tonight. Her dance was over.

The girl closed her eyes, awaiting the finale. A blow from her opponent that would take her out. "The way this dance ends...with a whimper..." she says, amused, to herself.

Eclipse quickly got on top of the mare and straddled over her stomach when she fell over. She lay her weapon across her chest and pressed down, preventing her from moving her hooves or getting up. Eclipse slides her hooves on her weapon until her elbows where pressing it down, gripping the sides of the mare's head. "You managed to injure me, for that I recognize you as a real fighter. I hope we can talk outside of combat practice" she softly said, twisting her neck in a way which the mare should fall asleep.

"I think I made a psychopath frieeeeeeeend" Eclipse gleefully thought as she watched the mare for any movements.

The blow never came. Instead of the thunderous crash she had been expecting, Midnight found her opponent ensnaring her for something. She frowned. What dance was this? Their performance was over no? and yet, she feared, it wasn't for her partner. Feeling her hooves on her head, a cold wave consumed her. She wouldn't surely, this dance was a rehearsal, not a play!

Midnight grinned, if this was it, she'd go out like she wanted to "I'll see y-...." Her words were cut off by the movement in her neck, a loud crick echoing as the girls eyes close and her body goes mostly limp, only the corner of her mouth still active "ou in tars...with...father..."

Once she was sure the mare was asleep, she got off her and walked to the infirmary to patch up he wing. She was glad she made a friend and she enjoyed the fight. It was more fun than taking out other demigods in less than three moves.

"Demigods nowadays just cannot follow rules" Chiron sighed, shaking his head. He then ordered the saytrs to carry away the mare who had fainted and the mare who fell asleep.

Sicar stopped walking as he saw another pony that was free, watching the stallion for a moment before going over and tapping him on the shoulder. He gestured to his floating weapons to show his intention, and they were off. The unicorn jumped back, firing off a bolt that was blocked easily, but then fell backwards into his own shadow. He reappeared with a quick punch to his opponent's stomach, emerging from the stallion's shadow. He went back in before coming back up again to knock the stallion out with an uppercut.

Midnight, who wasn't as gone as perhaps everyone thought, felt something grabbing her. Her body was docile, the crick in her neck had put her in almost a trance state, unable to act but aware. She was lifted up and carried by, someone, she wasn't sure her eyes, nor her body, would obey her commands. Her opponents art was truly magnificent, she must see more of it.

Eclipse walked into the infirmary tent and was guided to a bed. She sat down and drank a little nectar while the Apollo demigods removed the arrow and stopped the bleeding. She saw the mare she fought on another bed, reminding Eclipse that she forgot to ask for her name.

"Okay you are done. Don't use your wing until tomorrow morning" the demigod advised. Eclipse nodded and went out of the tent and headed back to the fighting grounds.

Neria gave a small groan.

Her eyes opened the slightest bit, and she wiggled her fingers and toes so that she would wake up completely active.  She wasn't going to be the idiot that woke up groggy.

The infirmary?

She was being carried by something-somepony.  The infirmary was just ahead, and she tried to recall her last memories before blacking out.

Fighting out a camper.

Leaving the fight.

An arrow.

Midnight.

She groaned again, realizing she had been shot in the stomach.  Granted-her pain level was very resilient and her healing abilities were enhanced-but still~

She turned her head the slightest bit, noting Midnight...alseep?

She squeezed her hands, pleased to find that her grip onto her staff had held through her entire fainting process.  Now...do you think they would notice me waking up?

Slowly Midnight opened her eyes. Infirmary, she knew the location. Sitting up, she spotted her crossbows had been removed and placed on a nearby table. She was aware what had happened to her, and aware even she, the composer, would need time to recover. Closing her eyes, she smiled and leaned back in her bed. Today had been awakening. Tonight, she would find the demigod she had fought against. No harm must come to her, she must remain beautiful forever..

"You passed out, had an arrow to the stomach, passed out again, and you still want to get up?" said a voice right next to the earth pony mare. "You know you aren't going to recover quickly if you don't rest". The voice belonged to a satyr who was told to take care of the patients in the back row.

"Do I really need to continue? I just finished a fight and no one really seems motivated" Eclipse thought, looking around the battle grounds.

  • 2 weeks later...

The voice.  Her mind zoned in, and facts blasted into her face.

Infirmary.

The nurse.

Satyr.

The grimaced, hardening her jaw to fight against the pain.  She twisted to sit up, noting her blood-spilt shirt.  With one hoof, she tore it open-revealing the already healing wound.  The arrow was already removed, but the blood had begun the clot.  She took a deep breath and asked her mother to help with the pain.  She poked the wound lightly a few times, and the pain, not surprisingly, subsided.

She sat up completely, slowly gathering the scene in front of her eyes.  She didn't usually get hurt-this was her third time in the infirmary in her many years' stay.  She bit her lip and turned towards the voice, you may continue.

Well, that had been less of a challenge than he had thought, and he didn't expect much of one from the stallion in the first place.

Sicar looked around the area again, walking to try and find another opponent. Eventually, he spotted a mare, the one that had been stretching when he had arrived at the field. He approached her calmly, watching her.

"Do you wish to spar again?" He asked simply, not really caring either way.

Eclipse was approached by a stallion. She didn't remember seeing him before, must have missed him.

"I think we are wrapping up though" Eclipse replied, pointing at Chiron who waved everypony back. "That is the end of combat practice. Capture-the-flag starts in half an hour. Dismissed" he said, trotting away as the ponies dispersed.

"Maybe during capture the flag, that is if you are in the red team. We'll be fighting along side each other of you are Blue" Eclipse said, turning away and heading back to her cabin.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You should be completely healed in time for capture-the-flag, that is if you really want to go" the satyr sighed, holding a small spoonful of nectar at the mare's mouth. "Open up"

She hated nectar.  Serisously.  It tasted so...weird.  Like a little baby, nectar was her true weakness.  She turned her head from side to side, snickering the little noises foals make when you try to force-feed them.  Gone was the stone-hard Neria Holmes.  This was the ultimate moment of vulnerability.

Alas, her battle was to no avail. The stayr scooped it right up to her mouth, and she opened it just the tiniest bit for the spoonful to drip through.  At least I get to play Capture-the-Flag.  She loved being on red team.  Mainly because she liked the colour red.  As always, she would be the backup plan.  It wasn't really anything officially formed or spoken about during the game, but everypony expected her to be there to save their flanks.

"Very well." Sicar replied simply, watching Chiron trot off for a moment before turning towards Eclipse again and watching her also leave.

After another moment or so, he headed back to his cabin as well, awaiting the capture-the-flag.

She got up and left, glad that she had survived the tumultuous challenge of swallowing nectar.  It did-indeed-help her feel better.  She headed back to her cabin, eager to 'suit up' in armour and to grab a few more weapons.
