World of Equestria: The Age of Heroes!

Superhero Name: Firebrand.  Named for his aggressive use of guerilla activism, Firebrand is hellbent on taking down corruption wherever he finds it.

Powers: Top-tier athletic conditioning, lightning reflexes, expert marksmanship, expert hand to hand combatant, stealth and agility, gadgeteer and explosives expert.

Spoiler

As a scout in the Aquellian Marines, Grayson learned the art of fieldcraft and survival.  Though he rarely ventures into the uncharted wilderness anymore, the attitudes that were ingrained in him help him to stalk his “prey” unseen in the urban jungle that is now his home.  He is agile and stealthy both on wing and while prowling on the many rooftops and landing pads that make up Talonopolis’ multilevel construction.

Grayson is a skilled bowman, able to quickly deliver arrows with pinpoint precision.  While he no longer shoots to kill, Grayson’s “mission kit” includes a custom-tooled folding compound bow and a variety of arrows to distract, disorient, and disable potential foes who might not be as reluctant to use lethal force.  His training with the marines also gives him experience in defensive hand to hand combat and evading pursuit.  Other gadgets involve nonlethal explosives such as smoke bombs, flash grenades, tear gas, experimental ataxium charges to deal with magically empowered foes, and a collapsible baton for close quarters fighting.

Photography is Grayson’s most important weapon.  A lovingly cared for camera and a full arsenal of lenses and audio recording equipment accompany Grayson wherever he goes.  Years of experience have allowed him to quickly dial in his shots even when in the thick of the action and an eidetic memory allows him to quickly recall and record corroborating details when in safer circumstances.

Weaknesses: No superpowers.  In spite of his martial training and lightning reflexes, Grayson is not an enhanced individual and is thus vulnerable to physical or magical harm when confronting those with powers.  To compensate, Grayson focuses on stealth and agility; if he does his job right, no one will see him coming.  Ataxium grenades and explosive arrows containing the magic-inhibiting agent provide a plan B against powered individuals who would do him harm.

Alias: Cpl. Grayson Steelfeather.

Backstory: Grayson grew up poor in the Base level of Talonopolis.  His parents worked the factories, as did his many brothers and sisters when they came of age.  Despite the advertisement that hard work would eventually lead to upward mobility, Grayson grew jaded with the promise of a better life after watching generations grow up, grow old, and die in the same squalor that they had been in for decades.  When he became of age, he decided to enlist in the military, hoping that the government pension would help him bring his family out of poverty.

Spoiler

Upon his return home, Grayson forewent his education subsidy, taking the time to apprentice with a newspaper company to learn the ins and outs of photography and reporting.  While at the company, he discovered he had a knack for rapid composition of shots.  It was there that he realized he could use his talents for good.  If no one else would bring down those who had kept his family down for generations, he would do it himself.

Because of his borderline criminal activities, his military pension has been revoked, forcing him to resort to odd jobs, donations, and guerilla reporting to keep himself fed and supplied with munitions.  Grayson relishes the challenge however, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Notable Allies: (awaiting discussion)

Notable Personal Villains: Morianna Razorclaw.  Firebrand has relentlessly pursued her for years, but proof of her corruption of government and populace has thus far eluded his grasp.  Still, he knows something is up with Razorclaw and will not stop until he finds it.

Also can include anyone whom he has executed press hatchet jobs upon or whom he has publicly humiliated with his investigative reporting.

General Notability: “Firebrand” is well known in Talonopolis as a rabble-rouser and agent provocateur.  Discounted by the upper class and revered by the working class, his articles on wealth inequality and government corruption are infamous for their inflammatory nature, fiery oration, and his exposure of blatant corruption has led to the public humiliation of many a minor patrician.  Thus he is on the blacklist for many griffons with power.  Equestrians on the whole are either unaware of his antics or largely ambivalent of something that does not really occur in their country.

Superhero/Supervillain Name: Blade Runner, Hunter of the Damned and Spirit of Punishment.

Powers:

Spoiler

As an emissary of Lords of Tartarus and host of Spirit of Punishment, Squall was empowered by various supernatural abilities. While at first glance a normal pony, when the need arises he transforms into a Blade Runner, the Spirit of Punishment! When it happens he cases to be a living being as it is understood by mortal realm. Runner has no need for air, water, food or sleep and his stamina is practically endless. His durability is also out of this world, not surprising seeing that his body resembles heavy black armor with skeletal motifs. Normal weapons are useless against Blade, and one need to be being of enormous strength - like Judgment Day or alicorn sisters - to hurt him physically. He can still be knocked out (when outnumbered, or taken by surprise for example), but it will only cause him to revert to his pony form, without causing injury to Squall. Runner is no slouch in strength department either, being able to effortlessly bind and pull down dragons with those chains of his. Spirit of Punishment speed and reflexes are only as good as those of his host. While Swift Squall is way above average pony in regards of both, he is no much to those who had both of this attributes elevated by powers or technology. As such he can be blitzed when his foe's fight smartly. Of course there is still the matter of his weaponry...

Flames of Tartarus: Runner wield green, ghastly fires of Tartarus itself, and he has many numerous applications for them. He can use them to hurl balls of fire as a projectile attacks, wrap himself into them like a cloak, create flaming walls to cut his target an escape way and many many more. Runner can cause abyssal flames to erupt anywhere his sight falls, but only when he's using his normal vision. Flames and Spectral Sight are mutually exclusive , and he can't activate one while using the other. Users of Dark Magic will feel the pain for months after being burned by those flames, and some say they can scorch the very souls of the wicked.

Last but no least, it may go without saying, but Blade Runner is completely immune to fire, even that of magical nature.

Spectral Sight: When he focuses, Swift Squall is granted vision beyond that of mortal pony. Blade Runner spectral sight allow hims to see life force of every sentient being in vicinity - even through walls and other such obstructions - as well as magical lay-lines. Users of Dark Power, spirits undead and other supernatural beings are especially visible in that spectrum, allowing him to see the roads they took recently. This allows Blade to trail such foes with ease. Spectral Sight can not be used however in tandem with Flames of Tartarus. Using one immediately cancels the other.

Cerberus Chains: As their name implies, those chains were formerly binding a guardian dog of Tartarus. One day however he managed to break them and escape to the surface world in pursuit of one of the escapees. While they failed at their purpose they were not forgotten. Pieces were gathered, reforged, enhanced and enchanted making them stronger then ever before. Instead of  returning to their role as the glorified leash, they were granted to Spirit of Punishment as an incredibly versatile weapon.

Indeed, chains are ones of Runners favorite tools is distributing just retribution to the wicked and he never parts with them. Made of of the otherworldly metal and other secret materials, those chains are practically indestructible and able to change their length depending on the task. Runner can whip his foes with them the classical way, but he can also direct them using only his mind. This make them very useful instrument to traverse unsafe terrain or when in need to gain reach elevated places. Binding them to his surrounding, Runner can swing on them like a rope, pull others and objects towards him and bind his targets rendering them immobile.

The Chains still retain their connections to Cerberus as well, even though now he's bound to Gates of Tartarus by other - more effective - ways. In moment of great need, Blade Runner can temporarily summon the hellish hound to his location to help him vanquish his foes. The three headed dog is extremely powerful ally, instantly turning the tides of a battle, but he can't stay long outside his post for long, and after a short while he will be transported back. Lords of Tartarus can also directly deny Runner from using this power. After all Cerberus task as a guardian is very important one, and the damned are not always sitting contently in their bindings.

Sin Eater:

The most important relict of all, and Runner weapon of choice. It's also the only one that is always present, even in his pony form. At a glance, it appears to just be a normal (if heavy) bastard sword. But when noblepony transforms, so does the blade - becoming weapon of pure fire, hotter then a ten thousand furnaces. Sin Easter is infamous around the practitioners of Dark Arts and demonic forces for good reason. The more wicked is one on the receiving end of the sword, the more painful will be the slashes and more agonizing the burns. When in especially bad mood Runner uses the power of the sword known as Soul Penance. Making the victim to stare into glowing runes inscribed along the edge of the sword, it makes them relive all the pain they inflected unto others from perspective of their victims - wherever they want it or not. In case of really wicked or battle hungry beings it can prove fatal. It does not work on those who have no eyes, without possession OF a soul or under effect of hallucinogenic substances. Mad and insane also aren't affected to the extend others are, although it depends on their lucidity.

Swift Squall and sword cannot be separated. Even if he leave it in different location, at his call it will materialize next to him, ready to be used, or summon it to his grasp when in the eyesight.

Phumbabos Cape: A black cape with high collar, made from the hide of demon Phumbabos slain by Spirit of Punishment long before he was bound to the Swift Squall. It offers a protection against curses and petrification, as well as softening the blows of Runner's opponents. Additionally by warping himself tightly with it Runner can silence his hoovesteps and hiding from non-magical sight. He can also use it to glide from great heights, but grants no active flight.

Nemesis: Blade Runner mode of transportation. It is a perfect replica of Harley Davidson FXSTC Softail Custom - the original stolen from Grey Condottiere during their first confrontation after Squall became Spirit of Punishment. However unlike normal Softail Custom it's made form otherworldly metals, making it vastly superior. Not only that, when noblepony transforms so does the motorcycle. Becoming wreathed in flames, juggernaut of a vehicle, it makes Blade Runner near unstoppable while leaving trails of liquid fire. Nemesis is capable of things other bikes wouldn't - riding on water, walls and ceilings and lines as thin as pony hair - few are the places that this hellish motorcycle would take Blade Runner to. It's performance is also mind boggling, being capable of reaching hypersonic speeds when pressed, and hauling objects far, far, far bigger and heavier then it without issue.

Weakness: While near invulnerable to most things, Blade Runner can still be harmed by magic and enchanted weapons (excluding those of 'fire' variety that is). Spells employing elements of ice or light are particularly dangerous. Runner is also literally incapable of harming those of certain level of innocence, compulsion powerful to such extend that he isn't able to defend himself if his action would end doing so.

Alias: Swift Squall, of the Noble House of Squallcoast.

Backstory:

Spoiler

This version of Swift Squall had led life similar to that of his other counterpart. However the truth behind 'Doing Things Done' was far more sinister then in other dimensions. It turns out that while 'DTD' still did envenom tribal conflicts in Unyasi, this time it was only a means to an end - the fact that Argyrus hid from his men . In Condottiere possession was artifact of great potential, however to access it's power there had to be necessary amount of strife around it. Squall confronted him about it, but to keep his mouth closed Grey poisoned him during the meal. Weakened by the toxin Swift couldn't resist, and he was dumped into nearby river to drown. His limp body was carried by rough current, and his last thoughts as water filled his lungs was regret. Partially for being pawn in this evil shame, but mostly for not being able to bring justice to Condottiere, and punish him for his crimes.

But the blackness that came afterwards was not the end. As he regained his senses, he was laying powerless before three enormous figures. Those were the Lords of Tartarus. They felt Squall's resounding desire for justice and retribution and they had the offer to him. He will be returned to world of the living and be granted capabilities beyond that of the mortal pony, by being bound to spirit of great power. In return he was to pursue users of Dark Magic, abominations from other dimensions who trans-passed the earthly realm, and most important of all, those who managed to escape Tartarus itself and needed to be recaptured. Seeing no other options Squall agreed. With this moment Swift Squall and spirit known as Ahrael were bound together and thus Blade Runner was born!

When Squall returned to his senses he discovered that on the underside of his right hoof was now mark of Tartarus, one that branded him as agents of it's rulers.

Swift Squall used his newfound powers to fight against his former employee, his transformed state allowing him to remain anonymous. But despite months of struggle and help he got from volunteers that joined him, Squall couldn't stop Argyrus from founding what he sought. Grey Condottiere took powers of the artifact into himself becoming equal to a demigod. Only Runner could stop him, but Squall was still inexperienced with his powers. Not being to use raw strength, Blade resorted to trickery. Using enormous knowledge of arcane granted to him by Spirit of Punishment he draw numerous occult sigil under the guise of inaccurate attacks. Before he could realize what was happening, Condottiere was sealed inside nearby stone pillar, granting Blade Runner his first major victory.

Swift Squall knew it was only temporary measure, but he was still glad that Argyrus was stopped. Of course it was only just a beginning. Swift was bound by contract with rulers of underworld. He knew however that when Grey will inevitably escape from his prison, Blade Runner will be ready for him!

Notable Allies: Currently Blade Runner had worked solo so far. He however is not against teamwork, and anyone dedicated to just retribution is welcome in his presence.

Notable Personal Villains: Blade Runner mainly targets Dark Sorcerers, demonic entities and fugitives from Tartarus. If you are one of these, chances are you on his black list. He isn't however above street justice however, and will bring retribution on anyone who threatens or harms the innocent.

General Notability: Blade Runner isn't really known. So far the talks about him resemble that of a boogeypony who targets the criminals. Those with great amount of arcane wisdom are likely to know about Spirit of Punishment Ahrael, even if name Blade Runner doesn't ring a bell.

Finally got this app finished. Will review the newer apps shortly and then will probably need to hold off on reviewing new characters so I can finish the academy's opening OP!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Superhero Name: Avant Garde (Legacy hero)

Powers: Paint and ink manipulation

Avant Garde’s powers allow her to control and enhance paint to create various effects. Her time using this skill and being taught it’s various applications by her mentor she’s been able to animate images of living creatures for short times, manipulate and move ink or paint and control its viscosity, density, and make it take on the properties of things she is painting. Example: Painting a swirling shape in front of her creates a strong gust. The last ability requires the use of some of the paint she has access to and as result she can run out. Depending on the level of detail in some pieces a regular way of detaining a criminal has been to literally capture them in a painting (by exhausting them until she can manage to get them to be part of a forced still life session.)

Like many powers in the universe it can be improved and strengthened over time with practice.

Alias: Second heiress to the the Trottingham Dukedom, Presteza

Backstory:

A pampered and privileged heiress from the trottingham dukedom, Presteza was constantly bored and annoyed with the posh stylings of her noble roots she often found herself bored and unhappy. She wasn’t often allowed to leave the estate without an escort , but she often snuck out to explore. On one of these little excursions she met an elderly mare named Atelier, a former superhero of prench origin, Avant garde. Because of a few reasons, the mare wound up retiring, content to live out her days in Trottingham. She was worried that she may have to move if anyone found out her secret… but the filly promised she wouldn’t tell a soul and was true to her word.

Over time the two ponies became friends with Atelier becoming almost like an aunt in the filly’s eyes. The old mare taught her all she knew about painting… well not -all- she knew but enough that an average (if privileged) filly should know about them. In time, while she was with her the filly managed to complete a portrait of some someone and gained her mark; a paintbrush and magical swirl.

One day the two went on a trip to an art expo being held in the park when a strong but rather foolish villain came in and attempted to steal several art pieces in the attempt to try and get rich off of them. The young pony attempted to try and save several works despite the danger and seemed to not be willing to listen to reason when told she wasn’t going to be able to do anything… eventually she was knocked out and all the art was stolen. There was a bit of luck though as she managed to track down where the villain was hiding out and wound up on the losing end of what one could call a fight if you were trying to be generous. Soon as things looked their darkest, Atelier arrived but she revealed herself to be the former ascended hero: Avant Garde. Making short work of the villain she decided to make the filly an offer...

Weeks later A new Avant Garde had come onto the scene. Although due to the heroine having fallen into obscurity, and now a new one was here, with a different look and a very peppy attitude. Over time the new link in the legacy wound up becoming a popular hero in her home and among some niche fans. She has fought crime for quite a while but is still relatively new but shows much promise.

Weaknesses: Despite the mare’s ability to manipulate whatever can be described as paint, the paint that she uses is still paint; and a result her power is vulnerable to fire if she is using oil based paints or ink. For this reason she’s often seen with four small gourds of non-flammable paint at her side, but once it is exhausted she’s forced to rely on… her very limited hoof to hoof skills. While she can hold her own decently in a fight against opponents who don’t have any formal training, against someone with more experience she’s at a major disadvantage, she is however very good at dodging and lithely… but that can only get a pony so far against higher tier villains.

Notability: The modern day Avant garde has become a popular hero but not to the point of world wide recognition or even countrywide recognition, a few older ponies have heard of her predecessor but most say she just disappeared a little over two hundred and forty years ago but a lot of her exploits are still talked about today...and seemed to have faded into myth.

This hero’s disposition seems to be something of the trickster and plotter archetype. Avant garde tends to goad and poke fun at her opponent’s expense or pretends to act like a fool and run her mouth as she thinks up a good plan to defeat her villains and resolve other situations.

Avant Garde today is mostly known by the hero clubs in Trottingham and some of the more well versed fans of them as well as heroes who tend to monitor up and comers. She has been called many things, ranging from “clever trickster with great potential” to “A stupid foal who's in over her head.” One thing she’s made particularly clear… is that she’s here to stay.

Enemies

Re-Vision: A black and white stallion with a simple looking but neat suit whose power is… Censorship. His origins are mysterious and only seem to be known to the first Avant garde hero. His powers allow him to make anything around him and that he directly touches “Acceptable and proper” in this case that means removing all unique or outstanding traits so as to make something that couldn’t offend someone and if they are offended they can be changed as well. His powers usually manifest as a draining of colors but a consistently upbeat but not abrasive attitude from those he touches. Example if he touched Rainbow Dash she’d lose all the traits that made her who she was, her competitive edge, love of flight and aspirations to instead become a smiley inoffensive mare who never flew over the speed limit. Things in a certain radius around him tend to have colors drained or washed out rapidly until all is in  a greyscale tone.

Information on him is scarce and full extent of his powers unknown.

So... it looks like there are two entities that are looking to keep heroes and villains path of destruction in check.

Machina - Who mostly watches over fights and collateral damage in person. Operating mostly under the influence of the Academy and his own motivation.

And EPIC - Which is an unmanaged organization with some methods that are over the law.

Now we just need our own version of XCOM.

Also Dio; Machina will be keeping his eye on Morpheus.

So when do we kick this off?

I'm working on the OP for the academy's opening as well as planning some lore for the AU. I'm hoping to get the academy opening thread before tomorrow or later during it.

A bit of a powerhouse but like Leo said he seems a bit less likely to fine many plots on a low level. However, this isn't too much of a problem  I'm sure he'll be great against certain more powerful threats in the future! I also have a sneaking suspicion someone is excited for the World of warcraft expansion... ;)

I guess I was bit imprecise when writing this app, and I omitted one thing (it was veeeery late when I wrote this one).

What I mean to write was that Runner is powerful proportionally to evil/sins/wickedness of the one he faces/hunts. So against some street thugs he would be say...on Spider-Man level, while against foes Sombra, Tirek or some demons (made from pure evil by definition) Runner could go all out.

Actually not really. I HAD in mind writing someone based on demon hunters. However this one was nowhere near Illidan. Runner takes elements from Spawn and Ghost Rider instead.

I meant that it'll be incredibly difficult for his powers to be fully realized XD. In other words, he is literally the weakest hero so far... even against most villains, until he finds someone that meets his criteria. The only thing that he has going for him is super strength, and the stamina of an inkjet printer.

Collective karma means all of your actions that could be just things that varies greatly from view to view. If the person does something they genuinely believe is for the best, but it's at the inconvience of others, their karma would be negative, but they wouldn't be evil or wicked.

For someone to be evil or wicked, they'd pretty much need to be a psychopath, a sociopath, or knowingly do evil acts for the sake of evil, power, or some selfish gain.

So... Dr. Doom isn't really evil, he just has bad Karma. But Tirek, and Sombra are wicked to the core, because they do decisively evil things for personal gains with no one else in their best interest.

oh nice! Well I'd love to unleash some Tartarus. So one or two of y'all want do something with Harbinger of Tartarus? Be her first time doing Supervillain things under that name and a test bed to work out how to best play her. So if some low level hero wants to battle a low level Supervillain here's a shot at that. Nice, and I think Tehengu will be good as he has a nice counters to Tartarus without sounding like he can wipe the floor with her. Makes it feel like they can have some nice bath and forth fighting.

Fine let's say it's karma them, because Runner power definitely isn't based on anyone's beliefs (except maybe those of Runner's superiors).

This is a same kind of discusion that people have in regards of Penance Stare - 'Oh he doesn't regret a thing so it wouldn't work'. Heck even writers don't get it right at times - the fight of Ghost Rider with Punisher would be good example, and this is still quite recent too.

Is so called 'Harbinger of Tartarus' ready to face somepony who got the job from bozos who run the place?

Tehengu it is. Really, he's the more experienced of the two, but I suppose his powers could be less powerful than Dolor's.

Depends on what his superiors think then XD. Just wait till you run into the same situation that Fable and Farcry 4 presented.

Two sides are at odds.

One wants freedom, and feels that he's enslaved by their superior.
The other is a dictator ruling with an iron fist, but does what he is doing because he knows full well that the other side will result to a fate much worse without him.

On first glance, you'd think the dictator is an evil jerk. But until you start hanging around the subjects, you start to realize where they'd be without him or with someone who was kinder.

You can't call either of them evil, and the karma is subjective :3.

Farcry 4's story was written knowing full well that the players wouldn't be paying too much attention to the story. And those that do would be like "Wait... hold on... WHAT!?" when they hear of either faction's plans closer to the end of the game. Even though ALL the clues were there ahead of time.

I suggest he carries around a looking glass to see how much his superiors want the guy punished, as they determine who gets what.

It more or less run's on pain. The more pain you inflicted on others in you life(both physical and mental), the higher you are on Lords of Tartarus %^&$ list, and consequently Blade's as well. Anyone's motives doesn't mean a jack to them, you could say that they are Lawful Neutral in that regard. If you want to be taken out of that list you better start to do some favors (assisting Runner is good idea for a start).

I don't know, I don't want her poor tail to get kicked too hard too soon, the mare needs time to get going before some Spirit of Punishment comes along to make the poor mare wet her self.

I could actually use a chance to see how playing a supporting character works.  Would you mind if I brought Detective Stalwart into the thread?  My plan would be to have him focus on getting civilians safely out of the way, establishing a perimeter around the fight, etc.  He'd only get involved in the fight himself if either it starts to get out of control or if he or someone he's escorting or carrying get attacked.

Also, while I'm planning out which threads I'm participating in, how frequently are you expecting posts in this thread?  I wouldn't want to bog things down if it takes me a couple days to reply sometimes.

I'm fine with you trying out a supporting character, this is a first go with things for some of us so may as well test out new things eh? As for posts tend to give someone two days to post before I skip them and move on to keep things moving. so long as you can get one post every two days it's cool with me.

Yeah, it seemed like a good testing thread, and I do have a character I want to test.  It's a natural fit.

I'll probably wait until the fight actually starts to get Stalwart involved.  Unless that takes a while, in which case I'll have him try to hold out for a few posts while waiting for the real heroes to show up.  :P

Superhero Name:  The Rainboom Centurian

Powers:  Aside from her INCREDIBLE speed as the fastest pony in the sky, The Rainboom Centurian has six different amazing powers, depending on which color of the Rainbow Force she's using.  When she uses that particular light, her mane also becomes that color.
* Red Light:  Heat aura/heat beams/protection from fire
* Orange Light:  The orange light lets her separate her mind from her body and walk around as an intangiable being of orange light.  She's virtually untouchable in this form ... but she also can't physically affect anything, only able to control light in this state, and leaving her body vulnerable.
* Yellow Light:  Absorbs kinetic energy, stores it, and redirects it.  Grants speed and strength.
* Green Light:  Mild transformations to objects - such as changing a sharp sword to a toy sword, or her civilian clothes to a superhero outfit.
* Blue Light:  chill aura / ice beams / protection from cold
* Purple Light:  Manipulate objects from afar, just like a unicorn!

Alias:  When not busy saving the day, The Rainboom Centurian is known as the mild-mannered Rainbow Dash, who works as the frantic fact-checker and personal assistant for the famous writer, A.K. Yearling, who regularly gets secret and exclusive interviews from the amazing hero, Daring Do..  The sporadic work gives Dash plenty of leeway to sneak off and save the day - though she must admit she's rather surprised that A.K. Yearling hasn't noticed her disappearances, even though A.K. usually shows up after every emergency panting heavily and looking mussed, as if she'd been looking for Dash everywhere.

Backstory:  It all started when she was young - a brash young flyer as she was, Dash nonetheless was friends with a placid, meek filly named Fluttershy.  One day, some bullies were picking on her friend, so Dash challenged them to a race.  Sadly, the colts didn't play fair, and one of them hipchecked her to the side, sending her crashing through several clouds and into the factory where the rainbows were being mixed up in huge vats, plunging right into a fresh vatful of the multicolored liquid.

The bullies outside laughed at yet another spectacular crash by 'Rainbow Dash'.  Then the giant rainbow explosion ripped apart the cloud walls of the factory - a rainboom that was seen in every corner of Equestria, a wave of color across the sky.  Dash didn't get away unharmed in the center of that exposion.  That much overexposure to rainbows could be lethal, since Rainbows were not the placid and peaceful thing that Rainbow Dash had thought they were.  They were a source of incredible energy and, frankly, it was like falling into a vat of freshly mashed jalapeno peppers.  Dash was in agony.  It took weeks for her to recover, but eventually she was up and moving again.

However, even once she had physically recovered, she was ... different.  Physically, it was very apparant that she had suffered - her splendid rainbow mane had lightened to a pale white, losing all color from it.  Her boundless energy had drained away too, and while she wasn't mild ... it was more like she just didn't have the passion she'd once had.

She was, however, doing much better in school.  No longer so easily distracted, she knuckled down and did well with her studies, and it was during this time that she discovered a great love for history - specifically, the history of superheroes!

In secret, Dash was dealing with a lot more than just a loss of color and mild emotional shifts.  Under moments of stress, she'd find herself changing - her mane would change to a different, brilliant color, and she'd have amazing powers.  During these moments, all of her passion and eagerness would come surging back.  It was during this time that she was made the sidekick of the legacy superhero, The Wonderbolt.  At the time of her sidekicking under him, his civilian identity was the noblepony Cirrus McCloud.  However, The Wonderbolt mantle has changed hoofs hundreds of times over the centuries, and Dash always took it for granted that she would inherit the mantle next.

That was not to be.  Before she was nearly ready, The Wonderbolt was wounded, and the new Wonderbolt was concerned about bringing a young filly into such danger.  Dash never learned the fire-haired mare's true identity, but she was determined that someday, she'd earn the right to be known as the famous hero of Cloudsdale:  The Wonderbolt.

Notable Allies:

The Wonderbolt - Dash still doesn't know who the civilian identity of The Wonderbolt is these days, but she often teams up with him.

Daring Do - Another mystery hero, Dash finds herself teaming up with Daring Do more often than any other superhero.  The moment she gets away from A.K. Yearling and changes into her super-suit, Daring Do seems to show up without fail!  While they've teamed up a great deal, they're both hesitant to share their secret identities.

Notable Enemies:

Giant Robots - She doesn't know what it is, but every week or two, there's another giant robot for her to fight!

Daring Do's enemies - Dash often finds herself fighting villains that were originally those of Daring Do.

(( I want to say that the villain versions of Lightning Dust and Gilda are also enemies of hers, but I leave them up to others to create ))

General Notability:

The Rainboom Centurian, as one of the six heroes who rescued the Moonlit Knight and started the new Renaissance of superherodom, is pretty darn famous.  She's also been around the hero world for a long time, ever since she was a filly, so she also has a long baseline for ponies to remember her by.

Approved, Just would like clarification do you mean that Daring do in this universe is one of the six who were present on nightmare night or that The centurian was. I'm a bit unclear on that. Also I should point out Luna in this universe's hero moniker is Moon-lit- knight. I'm excited to See how Dash will do!

In other news, The academy has opened it's doors. If you have any questions please bring them up to me! This is my first setting and I'll welcome any help within reason. :)

Superhero/Supervillain Name:

The Corroded

"Breath deep, fools!"

Powers:

Chemical - He is able to absorb otherwise toxic chemicals and use them in attacks. Mostly he is able to generate and breath out poisonous gas and able to generate and spew substances corrosive enough to destroy all but tough armor. Because of this, he is also immune to what would normally be a dangerous chemical to other ponies. including controlled substances.

Unusually tough- He is much stronger and able to take more of a beating than most ponies alive. He also does not need sustenance as a normal pony would.

Protective suit- A black suit not designed to protect himself from his environment, but to protect his environment from him. It protects against puncture, abrasion, heat, and magic manipulation. However, it is pretty cumbersome and does cause mobility problems.

Alias:

The conditions of his superpower make him unable to maintain an alias.

Backstory:

There was once a foal born on death's doorstep. So sick, unable to breath on his own or kick his tiny legs. All he could do was fill his mother's heart with fear and desperation.

It is true that vultures circle above the dying. In her vulnerability, she was approached by a doctor who promised to her that her foal's health could be achieved through new, experimental technology. Where he was taken was more of a laboratory than a hospital. The mother, longing for her foal's health eagerly gave her foal away to be treated, to be given a second chance. The second chance the foal received was not of his mother's wish.

She was told two weeks later that her foal was too sick for treatment, and died. In reality, the foal was alive, but barely. The experiment had worked, where he was given a serum that made his body less reliant on organic nutrients, but increased its reliance on more unconventional inorganic ones. He was fed otherwise mildly toxic substances. Like that he survived, but still by a thread.

He reached colthood living day by day, new experiments that destroyed his natural body were disguised as games or yummy new food to guarantee his cooperation. He lived happily, readily accepting what he thought was love by those who he thought had his best interests in mind. He was taken care of, energetic, and overall very happy with a positive outlook on life. This continued until he was a young stallion. With each passing day his body continued to decay. Even though his condition worsened, he maintained his happiness until he eventually died.

He was no use dead, so they chucked his body where they chucked the rest of the waste they wanted to take care of carefully. There, his corpse was washed over with reinvigorating toxicity that acted as a more effective medicine than the original serum he was treated with.

He was discovered days later while the waste was being processed. He was taken back to the laboratory where it was discovered that he did not die of exposure to toxic chemicals. He died because his body was malnourished. The volume of such toxic chemicals he was exposed to in the trash resuscitated him.

With this new revelation, the scientists of the laboratory constructed him a suit. The suit is resistant to abrasion, puncturing, fire, and magic manipulation. On his back is a backpack that cycles out toxic gasses through a pipe attached to his helmet that provides sustenance for his body. He also has a speaker on his suit that processes his voice into a computerized one for others to hear. The front of his helmet can also display text at his choosing. The suit connected to a dome helmet that allowed him to look out, but didn't allow any pony to look in. The last time anypony saw his face was when he put on his suit for the first time.

After his powers were realized, his captors saw the potential they wanted. They attempted to train him to use his powers for evil. Until one day where he refused and managed to break out. Shortly after breaking out, he was apprehended. When questioned on where he came from, he gave the location of where he used to call home only for it to be found completely empty except for a few piles of burned documents.

Notable Allies: None.

Notable Personal Villains: Those who made him this way.

General Notability:

The rumors of the volatility of his powers along with the deponyization of his suit make him frightening to be around, thus he is not viewed in a very positive light. He is generally known as being dangerous, even though his powers are under control until needed. However, his captivity kept his sense of justice more black and white than most heroes. He is still also

Still, he tries to look for the best in life and wants to use his powers for what he believes is good.
