The Saddle Arabian Self-Defense Force is the smallest standing military organization of any major state in the world. Saddle Arabia as a whole prefers to solve disputes through shrewd diplomacy or coin, and as such the SASDF rarely sees action. This has led to a few observers questioning the security of Saddle Arabia. Anyone who studies Saddle Arabia, however, knows what the Self-Defense Force is capable of, as does the remains of Saddle Arabia's enemies. While rarely used, it is aggressively efficient and quick-acting.

The SASDF knows it is almost always outnumbered and lacks the infrastructure to survive a prolonged engagement. Once it is ordered to act, it therefore acts with as much speed, surprise, and precision as possible. It fights savagely to remove the threat and it does so with a number of acute advantages to balance out their low numbers. They have the most advanced technology of any military on the planet and while they cannot combine it with magic, they have a distinct advantage in almost ever engagement.

They are exceptionally well trained and have a fierce selection process. Only the best and brightest of the nation(one already famed for its intellectual capabilities, intelligence, and physical prowess) may apply to join and with only a certain recruitment size allowed, only the cream of this already fine selection is even allowed to start training. Training is difficult both physically and mentally, and the result is that those who become members of the SASDF are premiere forces within the world of soldierly.

Their mental acuity makes them extremely effective strategists and tacticians who can out-think and out-fox their enemies, beating them in formation and deployment even before battle has begun. They can think outside the box strategically and tactically, and more than one enemy who was in an otherwise well-thought out position has been routed from an unseen direction or been the target of a ploy that has seen his defenses collapse without a shot being fired. The SASDF prefers ranged engagements when possible but make for exceptional hoof to hoof combatants thanks to their training and natural Arabian physical advantages.

Their capabilities make the SASDF an outrageously effective force despite its small size, but its small size means it has to be that effective. The SASDF cannot sustain body blows, and leadership is reticent to accept even minimal losses. It is a testament to the effectiveness of the SASDF that its operations have rarely been qualified as anything other than a success despite these reservations and concerns.
