The Dread Dunk! (Castle, Open) [posted on behalf of Blueblood]

Nope, no, it seems the Prince's evening wasn't quite over yet.  He wasn't sure, though, if this latest visitor was aiming to dunk him.  She seemed to be more interested in chatting with him.  Who was she, though?  The name was familiar, but Blueblood had to keep racking his waterlogged brain to remember where- oh, yes.  Right.  Here in Ponyville, right when Naj revealed herself publicly, if he recalled correctly.  Ooh, he hoped Flux didn't remember how much of a fool he made of himself.  Fortunately, she probably didn't care either way.

"Hello again!"  He waved at her, dropping his 'arrogant quisling' act for the first time that evening.  But, as 'vainglorious puff' was more or less a constant character trait, he couldn't resist showing off his new wings.  "Yes, they are rather nice, aren't they?  Temporary, alas, but a stallion can dream."  He waved them to show their pristine plumage, unleashing the smell of wet feathers.  Hm.  Hand't quite toweled off thoroughly, it seemed.

Yay! He recognized her! Or her name, at least. She had to wonder if he remembered what she truly was, though perhaps it would be best to not bring it up given what she knew of how he reacted in the past. At least she was pretty sure he had seen her true form... maybe not...

"Temporary? Aww, but they look so good on you Bluey." Flux said, giving him a small smile. It was about then that she remembered the booth he was in, and she took a moment to consider dunking him. It would probably be fun, but he looked like he had had enough for now, so she decided to give him a break. "What do you think of my costume?" She asked finally, tilting her head to the side questioningly while an expectant smile spread across her face.

"Why, thank you!"  Blueblood beamed at the compliment, his mood lightening as it always did when someone complimented his appearance.  "Someday, perhaps, I shall have them for good, but for now..."  He shrugged.  His buoyed mood, lifted even further by the realization that Flux was not here to dunk him, moved the Prince to reciprocate the compliment.  "It's very fine.  More cute than fierce, but I suppose that's more a function of the wearer than the costume."

Was that overboard?  Perhaps, but flattery rarely tended to bring bad results, in Blueblood's experience.  A ringing sound could be heard.  Was that the alarm?  Was Nightmare Night soon to be over, Princess Luna restored once again, bringing an end to the Prince's alicorn ascension!?  Or, maybe it was just the signal for him to take a break and get something to eat.  Whatever, the dunking booth would close, then, Blueblood having finished his evening.  No doubt he gave many a pony a delight on his most frightful of Nights!

Flux giggled happily at the compliment that Blueblood passed on to her, smiling widely at him still as the alarm went off. What did that mean? Was something wrong? Blueblood didn't seem worried though, so she simply ignored it and looked back to him.

"Thanks, Bluey! Want some candy?" She asked, showing what she had collected so far. It really wasn't much, but then again the haunted house had taken longer than she had expected it too. Oh well, there was always next year.
