Surviving The Fallen (Private)

Recommended Posts

They had been lucky, until now the infected had just been mindless, and without any real purpose. It had been easy for them, well, mostly. Sky was now panting as he felt his back getting slowly soaked. He had been pumped with aldrenaline before, and he hadn't really felt the full pain of the cut, though now that all he was doing was aiming a rifle at an empty town, well, empty around him town, he was calming down, and he could feel it. It was a deeper cut then he had expected, and he had missed a serrated part of the blade, which had caused a nasty cut. The back of his clothes were slowly being soaked.

Then he heard it, the roar. He had heard it before, it was not something he enjoyed hearing. This thing was going to kill them!!!

"We gotta go!!!" He says, turning to the group he is with, talking with a loud voice to make it apparaent, though quickly wincing, his right arm just dying.

Dammit this cut hurts!

"Let's go." Li said, quickly running back through the room and down the stairs. She unsheathed her blades again and cut a path for the both of them before heading to the library. She looked back often to check on the stallion and the undead. The big one seemed to be mostly out of sight now. "Where to now?"

mac nodded to li/castor. he grabbed a nearby rope and climbed down. castor hadn't come out yet. he looked around and assessed the situation. he went over to a bloody body torn up by bandit firepower. he plunged the his knife under the rib cage. and tore downwards. he poured gore over the streets. and the zombies took the bait. by the time this was finished castor was down and with him. "Library; lets go!" he stuck the knife thru his pants and ran with both hands on the gun.

there were a few zombies in the way, but the butt of his gun handled them quite well. mac ran along, checking on castor. the town was infested but it was manageable. he lead her thru a building kicking down a door and sprinting thru. they came out of the building. mac managed to break a zombies skull with the door.

mac looks across the street and signals castor to run with him. he goes across the street kicking down the door to the library.

mac's face showed a slight bit of confusion, as he sees the 3 armed girls, and the wounded boy. he simply raises the 240 keeping it at his hips.

The deathglare the came out of Embers eyes, towards Sky, would make even him question if the girl wouldn’t gun him down. Even with that, creature, coming in, the girl didn’t even seem phased.

“Shut your mouth or I’ll shut it permanently!” she yelled at Sky, before spotting the blood. He was cut eh? While part of her was tempted to hit him and abuse his injury, the merc saw him to have another purpose. Meat-Shield. If the infected found them before the explosives were ready, she’d throw him to them. Of course, this stopped, the moment Max, and Li, arrived.

Ember took aim at Mac, but held her trigger as Midnight looked up and ordered Ember to hold her fire. The town was lost, no need to waste time killing in it. No longer was the ‘young timid girl’ standing before Li and Mac, but a cold-hearted girl who’d do what she had to to survive. “Cry, they linked yet?” She asked, keeping eye-contact with the new arrivals.

“Link established and secured” the youngest sister replied “They have a 5 second time-lag but outside of that we’re green” confirming her trigger now worked, the youngest sister moved closer to Ember, the eldest.

“Good” Midnight replied as she took a moment to examine their current predicament. The town was lost, the real question was how long did they have till they were compromised? Ordinarily she would have given a good number of minutes, but with the arrival of the foolish boy, as well as these two, it seemed unlikely. She gave herself a minute at most, 3 if the devil smiled upon her family once again.

“We’re going to detonate explosives” she said informing both the new arrivals as well as Sky “The radius will remove the heart of the town, and cause enough of a distraction to allow us to escape into the forest for temporary protection…”

The girl paused when Cryie walked up, and whispered something to her. The conversation was impossible to hear, but it was clear that the sisters were against eachother for whatever the conversation was. After a minute of talking, Midnight knew she hadn’t the time to waste “If you want to travel with us, then do so. But be aware that if you fall behind, or go your own way, we won’t go back for you. You have a minute befor….” The girls voice died in her throat, as IT approached. Thundering footsteps right outside the library, and the roar of the damned as something smashed into a wall.

“Move, Cryie, set to 20 seconds!” Midnight moved instantly as she gave her orders, grabbing her bag and running to the back of the library, and kicking open a backdoor Ember had forced open hours ago. The bigger sister walked back, and the youngest fiddled with the device on her wrist, then looked up at the others “Go! These things will hurt you real bad if you’re too close!”

Li recognized a face there who seemed to be with others who could only be her sisters and...someone else. She lowered her blades, eyeing the girl staring at her through her mask. The girl from before seemed to have dropped her "innocent girl" act, but underneath it was a cliché "I'll do anything to survive" kind of attitude. It was amusing to see them take charge of the situation, saying they were about to detonate a bomb and that others are allowed to travel with them like it's a privilege. Li decided to play along, a group this size is bound to provide some good entertainment at some point.

Loud noises suddenly erupted from just outside the library, meaning that danger was closing in on them. She did as she was told and ran out of the building, smiling at how interesting things have become.

Mac let his gun drop, pointing it to the floor. He was about to say something insulting about how this bunch of dumb bimbos are going to get them killed. One moment upon meeting them; and there attempting to blow the place up, clearly they were a bunch of trigger happy harlots. Beyond that mac himself wasn't sure if he himself had it in him to really do some good teamwork. However Castor seemed to be interested in joining them, despite her silence; he could tell. besides that, they were heading for the same exit.  No point to picking this fight.

Mac wondered if the explosives were a high enough grade? Was the wood of the building be able to start a good fire that could burn the zombies? Once again Mac quickly realized it did not matter. They have a chance to kill that big abomination, and not waste the ammo they just got. "all-right ..." he said gently. he looked to Castor, the 3 girls. .... wait SNEAKY! .... of an entire town he had to end up with the one he had a argument with! He took a moment to reflect upon his hatred for both the living and the dead. He noticed the guy with a rifle. He was wounded; Mac wasn't a doctor but he was experienced having enough injuries of his own to know he needed bandages; and something to help replace the blood he lost. food and water would have to do.

"if you all clear a path way out of here. So I can make a sprint to catch up. Ill lure the boss in here so we can ensure it gets incinerated." he looked around and went to a book case wobbling it. "if i load up this bookcase with weights i can pin it. then I'll  race outside. then you can blow the place. ... get outta town like the cops are after us." mac looked to the group to see if they approved.

He knew he should have more sympathy for this group. there was a good chance they were the last ponies on earth! yet the only one that mattered to him was Castor. she proved herself noble, maybe if  the future had more ponies like her; it would be worth it. All he truly had was his will to fight. Mac sent his whole life fighting, it was all he had. A will to fight and survive, but he knew in this world; he needed more.

Thud Thud Thud

The footsteps echo'ed in Sky's head, the words from Ember, and the adrenaline making the pain in his back just vanish. He took a deep breath, and as the others started running, he turned and hoofed it himself. As he ran, he looked around at the group he was with. It was.... a really weird rag tag team.

First off, their was himself. He was bleeding, and as he ran, even though the adrenaline was pumping through his veins, he could still feel the pain as bits of blood dropped onto the ground with each step, and he noted to sow it shut soon. Then, their was the group of sisters. It seemed that the eldest one was a bodyguard to them, with the way she had used her gun she was good with it, and for some reason she had a grudge against him, even though he had done nothing... He was worried, but he hoped he would be alright.

Next was the other two sisters, the youngest, who he had talked to before hand, seemed friendly enough, but a little uptight. She seemed like she needed to much knowledge, and couldn't focus on being alive. At a time like this, it made sense, but he felt she had to lax up some more. He hadn't really seen the other much, though she seemed like a leader to him.

Then he heard the big guy say he was going to wait. He quickly stopped, yelling at him.

"Its on a timer, run!!!" He yells at him, having defintily heard the twenty second timer that the middle child was talking about. He didn't know what it was about that guy... but he seemed to.... eager to die, at least from what he can see right now.

He had no thoughts on the samurai girl, if that was what she was. She seemed like she could be good in a fight, he just hoped it wouldn't go south if...

Before he could keep thinking, his legs gave out, his injury having split a bit more, and now he was going light headed as he tripped over, trying to get up.

MOVE, MOVE BODY, MOVE!!!

(We'll be time-skipping into the forest in a few posts, so if your characters want to gather supplies or such, do so now. The infected are corpses, and the 'body' of the large injfected will be no where to be found)

The girls watched the others leave, each counting down in their head. Midnight looked up at Mac as he suggested he use himself as bait, and she shook her head. She was about to speak, right as it happened. The creature punched a hole into the wall, and through it. Its huge fist smashing into the ground, and it started to force its way inside. What it lacked in intelligence, it made up for with raw strength.

To Midnight, that was within her calculations. She was standing near the exit, as was Ember, the merc ensuring their backs were clear. Of course, all their pre-planning with the explosives, didn’t work out as well as the girl had originally planned. As Cryie made her way towards them, the shockwave, one created by the creature smashing its fist into the ground, caused the girl to stumble. While she did hit the ground unharmed, and was soon on her feet, she’d also accidentally pressed a button on her wrist-mounted device. Triggering the explosives ahead of schedule.

“Run!” Cryie screamed, as long as she could, as she sprinted towards the exit. Of course, she had been allowed nearly 15 seconds to reach the doorway, a 5 second gap to let them put space between themselves and the library to escape the shockwave. Midnight had timed everything down perfectly, except the explosives going off early. With only 5 seconds, and over a dozen steps away from the exit, despite running, she knew the simple facts. She was too far away, and wouldn’t make it to the doorway.  Midnight saw this, and, to help contain the blast, said a silent farewell, before closing the door on her younger sister.

5 seconds later, the explosives the girls had set up, exploded with all their force. The shockwave ripped through the library, scorching the entire building. Anything nearly was blown away, and only by taking cover an alcove that the sisters had created would anyone have escaped unharmed. Midnight was there, as was Ember, plus any other survivor who they’d pulled in with them. But, Cryie, wasn’t.

As the smoke cleared, the right arm of that creature was splattered around the area, but outside of that, nothing seemed to have survived the blast. Ember reacted violently. She sprinted into the library, what was left of it, crying out her sisters name as she searched the rubble for Cryie. Tears ran down the elder sisters face, her weapon forgotten, as she looked through rubble where nothing could have survived, looking for any sign that her sister had survived.

Midnight watched from the side, her face an unreadable mask lacking any emotion. She glanced over at the others “….The plan remains the same, we go into the forest, find a location to camp for the night, then we move to Manehatten….Cryie wanted you all to come, so…you’re welcome to join us…” the middle sister took a deep breath as she watched Ember rummage through nothing. Midnight hated how easy it had been to close that door on Cryie, how logically her mind compared the life of her sister, to the lives of the group. One life, against half a dozen lives. The maths was obvious, so she did what she had to.

Li was running until she heard the stallion from before yell. She shook her head and sheathed her swords before running towards him, digging into her pouch for a blue flower and shoving it into his mouth. "Swallow it; it will heal the wound faster." she said, lifting him onto her back and continued to run away from the bomb. Li gritted her teeth; time was running out. She quickly hid behind a building and waited for the blast that came earlier than expected. As the shockwave subsided, the qilin looked at the destruction from the side of the house and nodded, carrying the wounded stallion back to where the others were.

Upon arrival, she noticed the eldest of the sisters on the rubble of what used to be the library searching for something with tears streaming down her face. Li looked around again and noticed one of the sisters was nowhere to be found, the youngest if she was right. She looked at the mare from before, noticing she was expressionless as the other frantically searched the rubble. Li shook her head; the mare reminded her of how she used to be back in the guild. She put the stallion down and bowed deeply toward the rubble, before facing the stallion again and started healing him with her magic. The flower had already made the wound smaller, so she quickly sealed it completely, not even leaving a scar behind.

Mac considered his idea a good one. teamwork, and coordination one thing the zombies could never match. mac nodded, he was about to introduce himself properly. but as soon as he opened his mouth the giant twisted lump of flesh broke down the door to the library. mac felt the wood splinters hit him, the smell of death and maggots filled the air. Mac gritted his teeth, he was confident they could kill this freak!

But then he heard one of the girls make the call "RUN!" and everyone abandoned him! he couldn't blame them between the threat of being blown up and the beast. it was every pony for themselves. just as he found life to always truly be.

mac jumped back to the book case and with all his weight tipped it landing on the creature! mac didn't see it but he heard a loud crunch as the bookcase crushed its bones and flattened it to the floor. he saw the abomination twitching and writhing on the floor. still alive. but now he had no time. he looked around and made sure everyone was gone before running forward. he jumped thru a window .... not a smart move when you don't have a shirt! he landed on asphalt and ran! ignoring the cuts and bleeds in his chest. "ok now i really wish i knew what grade those bombs were so i can know when to stop; no never stop, the pain ever ends I AHHHH" mac felt the heat and for a brief moment he was in the air

mac opened his eyes and the world seemed to fall around him in slow motion. blood glass and dead flesh flew by him, it was almost calming. then he hit the ground and felt a part of his cheek scrape off. his body ached and he remained on the ground catching his breath. he put his arms up to stand when a zombie fell on top of him.  Mac pulled back and like a wrestler put it in a leg lock. the sheer bulk of the 240 acted as an improv shield keeping the zombies mouth away from him. and as he pinned it down he pulled out his knife and slowly slid the sharp blade into the zombies head, the its neck

"I wish you felt pain" is all he said as he felt the zombie go limp. its brain damaged and unable to function.

Mac stood up and slowly walked back to the rubble. he noticed in the blast the wall of a home was taken down, he put his head in to see if there was anything useful. the house looked like it was once a cozy place. a old radio, table and a couch. it was a home. underneath the rubble was a zombie moaning holding its arm out to grab him. For a moment he thought it was a real pony begging for help. mac simply ignored it and walked by. next to the door which was left open was a filled coat rack. the one that caught his attention the most was a wool peacoat all black. Mac put it gave an approving nod as he inspected before using the knife to scape off any glass in his skin, it and put it on. His chest was still bare  but it was better than nothing.

he walked out not even acknowledging the trapped zombie. he came upon the group and form there somber tone and a quick count he saw they were sort one member ... the little one.

a lot of emotions flooded him at once. rage/they left her behind. dout/ obviously they if they can't take care of there own, i can't trust them. fear/ that young girl was dead. one less pony in the race.

like always he pushed them aside as he began to shift thru the rubble.

Sky's sight had been blurred, and as he had been forced to swallow the strange plant, he could feel the wound slowly closing slightly, lessening the massive slash across his back. He felt himself being lifted up, groaning a little as he felt the cut bleed a bit, though not as bad as before. Less then maybe twenty seconds later, he heard the massive bang, the shock wave, despite his vision, visible as debris went everywhere. He was glad that the girl had been kind enough to come back for him, if he had been where he had fell, he would be dead.

Before long she had healed the wound shut, it still hurt from the previous blood loss, but it was sealed, and he knew it. He hadn't fully realized what was happening yet, and before he even realized he grabbed hold of Li's arm.

"Than..ks for healing me.... You saved my life...I owe ya" He says, letting go and trying to get one one knee, only to look up and see Ember, crying? Searching through ruble. He quickly realized what had happened.

"CRYIE!" He yelled, before feeling light headed from blood loss. He had liked that girl, so innocent, she had seemed so good willed, she wanted to end this... she had been kind.... And now......

Ember was no longer crying in a mad rage, but the tears stained her face like an ugly painting as the eldest sister frantically searched the corpse of the library. She noticed the one from before helping, but said nothing as she hunted for her youngest sister, the sister she had to protect. She refused to believe Cryie was dead, it just wasn't allowed! If anyone was to die, it would be her in a blaze of gunfire! Just, not Cryie. The memories of looking after Cryie flashed through her mind, stabbing at her failures, and the girl, in a fit of rage, threw a case into a wall, the wall shattered down.

Midnight, stood watching the deranged actions of her sister, looked over at Sky after the boy called out her sisters name. It felt like someone had just grabbed her heart and crushed it. The pain threatened to overwhelm her, before shoving it down and away. She had no time to mourn her sister, not yet....When they were safe, then, only then, would she break down and mourn the girl she'd just killed.

However, behind the shattered wall was a doorway, and a young girl weakly smiling. She was injured, her left arm had blood on it, her face had numerous scratches and the left lens of her glasses had cracked near the bottom, but somehow, despite those small injuries. Cryie was alive.

When Midnight had closed the door, Cryie knew she had merely seconds to survive. She saw a doorway, and remembered looking down it before, and concluded it lead to a basement of sorts. She threw herself down the stairs, landing painfully as the explosion went off. That's when she used her magic. It was weak, but she'd managed to generate a barrier to protect against the explosion, mostly. Her barrier had collapsed on itself, and the girl had gotten injured due to her inability to sustain her magic.

Ember grabbed her younger sister, pulling her into a tight embrace and muttering that she'd never let her out of her sight again. The reunion lasted a good many minutes, before Cryie forced Ember to stand up and arm herself with the rifle. Although, the elder sister was barely 2 steps away from Cryie the entire time.

Midnight, upon seeing her sister survived the ordeal, smiled. Her mask shattered as she let out a bright smile that lit up her eyes. She was thankful her sister hadn't died in that explosion, Midnight was certain Ember would be forever damaged at losing her sister, and she doubted she would be in a better place once the shock wore off.

With the town subtigated, Midnight led the rag-tag group through the forest until they reached the destination. An abandoned temple, which would shelter them from the elements and beasts. After making it clear they had to be careful with the noise they made, and explaining to the ground that in the morning, they would be departing towards Manehatten, Midnight was happy enough to leave the others to their own devices.

Cryie sat on a chair clearing up her wounds, her jacket removed as she patched up what wounds she got when she dived onto the ground. Standing mere feet from her, Ember, worked on loading ammunitions for the sisters weapons. She was eternally grateful that her sister was alive after what had occurred, and made a promise to never get complacent when it came to her family ever again. And the final member, Midnight, sat on the ground with a map in front of her. The cold-hearted survivor was marking places down in a little notebook, as well as on the map of manehatten. Preparing for the future.

(OCC: We will remain in this 'camp' for about a page, 2 if something is happening, then we'll be moving. So if things start to slow down, prepare for a moving post once again)

After healing the stallion, he suddenly grabbed Li by the arm. She sighed lightly, nodding when he thanked her and let go. "I didn't do this for a favour, so you don't owe me anything." the qilin said, supporting him as he tried to get up, suddenly yelling the name of the girl who had been buried under the rubble. "You shouldn't over exert yourself, you have not fully recovered."

She looked at the rubble and noticed the missing girl emerge, bring her elder sisters relief. Li smiled a little and looked at the stallion, "All is well now, so rest and eat this." she said a she dug into her pouch and stuffed spinach into his mouth. "Do you need a lift? You will recover faster and we will travel quicker."

Mac smiled as he saw the girl survive. he held the gun on his shoulder and walked with them. he kept an eye on caster, he liked how she took control of the guy's health. force feeding him and taking care of his wound.

he remained silent on the walk to the temple. Fortunately it was nothing the group couldn't handle, one or two stray zombies. they got to the temple and quickly checked to make sure it was clear. mac sat down. it felt nice he felt like he hadn't slept or ate in days!

he pulled out a can of food, it was rather tasteless and chewy. he got up feeling better and investigated outside. .. he looked up at the moon, he always loved the moon, it was strong, beautiful, and while it may be weak, and some nights not even be there; it would always return. Mac walked along in the warm darkness. he noticed there was some noise in the bushes. he walked a bit quicker only to find he lost his way. he clutched his gun for comfort. he moved along now at a brisk pace. until he was he couldn't see anything! mac ran now but then stopped, eyes! thousand and thousands of glowing eyes surrounded him. he held his gun out ready to fire. but then leaped in the air. fortunately a giant flying shark came beneath him which he landed on and rode atop while shooting at the zombies. the shark moved slowly thru the air and ...

"whaaa!" he awoke with a shock. it was just a dream. it seemed he passed out the instant he sat down. Mac got up and set his gun on a pew laying next to it with his new traveling party.

"mainhatten" he said outlaid to the littlest girl. "why are you trying to get there?"

The 'littlest' girl was Cryie, who turned to face Mac as he asked his question. She smiled politely at him, after all, what was the point in being mean?

"Manehatten, well...there's quite a few" she said softly, her voice gentler than both her sisters "Namely it's supplies, theres a rumour saying Manehatten wasn't hurt by the infection. While I find it...unlikely, there is always a chance. That...and well, it's got some of the most advanced medical equipment, so we're going to steal some of it" she said calmly, as if stealing medical equipment was an average day-to-day activity, no more than brushing ones hair.

"I never introduced myself, did I? Oh i'm sorry...My name is Cryie Rose, youngest daughter of the Rose line. Theres also Midnight, my sister with blue hair, and the eldest, Ember, who has red...I never asked for your name did I? Oh...was probably meant to do that..."

The weight taken off his shoulders was insane, he literally felt himself get lighter when he noticed Cryie alive and well. He sighed in relief, just glad the girl had survived it. A lot of lives had been lost today.... Enough was enough for one day....

"Still owe ya" He managed to get out for her before she stuffed spinach in his mouth, which he struggled to chew and swallow, but he had managed to. He didn't know whether to accept or decline the carry offer, though he decided against it.

"For now i'm good, i'm dead weight right now, and you seem to need to be agile if a mess starts" He replies, before putting his rifle on the ground and taking the mag out, before disassembling it, and packing it back into his bag. He didn't really feel like carrying it around much, and he didn't have a strap yet... He made a mental note to make himself a makeshift sling for his gun.

During the trip, he kept quiet. Not wanting to be a bother to the group. His injury felt a lot better, still hurt a little from muscles being tired, but the cut felt pretty good. He was lucky she was good at healing!

Once they got to the temple, he went inside to a corner inside, just across the room from where the sisters and Mac were. He opened up his bag, pullling out his canteen and some food he had in their. In town he had been lucky enough to get a fresh sandwitch, which was a rarity these days. Opening up the bag it was in, he grabbed it and tore it in two before drinking some water. He walked towards Cryie after.

"Well nice to meet you all" He says to her, and her sisters, semi rudely joining the conversation before handing her the other half of the sandwitch. He didn't care if Ember or Midnight would shoot him, he was just glad she was alive, and she had gone through something just then.

Li nodded when the stallion declined and walked with the group. Traveling in a group felt weird to Li as she had always been alone, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It made Li feel somewhat happy to travel with others, but will she be able to survive with them?

When they arrived at the temple, Li set down her bag and quietly sat on the ground next to the cousin who fought with her. She observed the group without saying anything, interested at how different every pony was to the other. She listened to the others discuss about their next destination, learning that they were going to manehattan and also learning the names of the sisters. Come to think of it, she still doesn't know cousin's name.

She decided to do some maintenance work on her swords. She pulled out a small kit from her bag and unsheathed her swords, working and listening to the others at the same time.

names.

mac held his gun the stock to the floor. and looked around. the whole traveling party was close by.

"My name is Macheath messer; but my friends" he looked to castor "call me Mac the knife."

when he was young and alone on the streets. he was Macheath. but when he became a man, and made a name for himself. a name called mac the knife. it was what the public knew him as and his family called him. the name he called himself in his mind.

it felt oddly intimate telling them his name, as if he was establishing he was trusting of them.

Cryie smiled at Macheath as he introduced himself. While the nickname of 'Mac the Knife' brought up several worrying questions, she understood that while she was curious, she had to be smart about what questions she allowed out. She opened her mouth to speak to Mac, right as the boy from the library walked up also. She turned to face him, and was willing to pardon his rude manners given he had been bleeding to death.

"It is..." she paused as she tried to select the correct word for the situation that surrounded her "nice to meet you again Sky". Of course, that's when he handed her half a sandwich, and the girl was stunned. Why? It made no logical sense, in her mind, to why he would give her sustenance. Her own family had plenty, meaning it wasn't needed for survival. There was the likelihood that he would need it in the coming future. But, she allowed those questions to die as she took a bite and thanked Sky for the food.

"...Mac the knife...?" Embers' voice washed over her sisters, and the burning haired girl, who was sitting on the ground, looked up "Well, listen up knifey, you want her, you go through me. Cryie's too damn important for someone to steal her away with grubby little hands, or try woo her with offerings, alright?"

Cryie smiled, an embarrassed smile if there was one "E-ember, it's ok, really. They're just being nice since I think they'll be traveling with us to Manehatten"

"I'll sleep with one eye open" the eldest sister replied before going back to reloading their weapons.

"I'm sorry...a-again, Ember is, well...she's family. W-were either of you injured before, in the town I mean?" she asked, she hadn't actually checked the others injuries and offered to heal them, being selfish after the explosion injured her...and damaged her beloved glasses.

Midnight, after coming up with what was a semblance of a plan, spotted something that she thought was, unusual. It was the girl from before, operating on blades. She had to admit, the blades themselves were rather pretty, and well cared for. Standing up, she walked her way over to Li, and, much like in the town, used the same voice "Excuse me, my name is Midnight, I-I never asked what yours was before..."

Li looked up at Cousin Mac as she felt him look at her. She didn't think he would have an interesting name like that, she also wondered where it came from. The qilin nodded before going back to work on her swords, sharpening and cleaning it for her next foe.

While she was working, the blue-haired girl approached Li with the same act she had before. Li didn't understand at all; she had already revealed her true colors back at the library, so why? "I've already told you, haven't I? It's Castor." She closed the kit and looked up at Midnight before putting it back into her bag. Li then stood up with her swords in one hand and adjusted her mask with the other. "It is nice to meet you again, Midnight; I hope we can get along." she said, bowing a little.

Midnight realized that indeed the girl had, but, after what occurred in the library, it seemed she'd forgotten. She mentally sighed, how could she be so foolish? She smiled at Castor "Then i'm sorry to have forgotten your name, after the situation with Cryie at the library, well, I wasn't thinking straight..." she admitted, specifically eyeing the blade of the other girl. While the mask did bring up several questions, she had to admit, she was still a fan of this girl. Well, compared to the two others they'd picked up. Midnight silently cursed Cryie's loving heart, but what choice did she have? When Cryie wants something so small as to 'help people live', she couldn't say no to her.

"Your blades..." Midnight said, resting her hand on the hilts that hung down at her belt "I'll admit to being curious about them, I mean, you're obviously found of them, How long have you been using them for?" Midnight asked, posing such an innocent question. Of course, her curiousity ran a tad bit deeper. Blades, especially ones like hers, told a story all its own. Most 'traditional' weapons were firearms, and swords become more novelty weapons. So why did this girl have such a love for them? Midnight knew her family was guilty of that also, but then again, when family tradition makes demands...

"I understand, family is important after all." Li nodded, sheathing her swords into their scabbard. She followed Midnight's gaze to her twin broadswords, before looking back at her to answer her question. "Actually, they were given to me by someone I really care about nine years ago, I have been using them ever since." Why was this girl so interested in her swords? Perhaps she just liked weapons, or perhaps it was something else...

So they had history. Midnight could put together some ideas about the blades being given to Castor by a loved one, but that would be just a guess. However, what Midnight did catch up was the wording. In her world, wording was key to anything, as is the life of a silver-tongue. Castor has implied that whoever gave her the blades as still alive, although if they were infected, or dead, was a question. Also why was the girl travelling with the brute, was the brute that somebody and Castor didn't want anyone else to know? Infinate possibilities, and each one Midnight allowed her mind to pursue.

Midnight could have answered why, after all, it was a question the girl would ask eventually. But instead of telling her, she opted to simply show. She reached into her belt, and drew her own blades. Much like Castor, she also had two swords. However, that was about as close as they were. Midnight's blades were both short-swords, the blade itself had markings etched up to its tip, and where ordinary blades had a hilt-guard, hers curved upwards, as if to 'catch' any blade that moved that far down. As she drew them, she also flipped them both to a backhanded grip, out of nothing but instinct, before flipping the grip back to a 'regular' one.

"My sisters and I were trained pretty much everything about swords, even if they were for display back in the days. I could tell you cared about yours a lot, and I wanted to know why I guess..." she explained to Castor "So you and the other guy, a couple?" she asked. She wasn't sure, in all honesty she doubted, but if you could try and fluster someone, well, it told you a lot more than just their social arrangements.

Li watched as Midnight unsheathed her swords, nodding when she talked about her and her sisters' history. It was interesting to see a design that was different to what she is use to seeing, but they looked like regular swords. The girl then ask if she and cousin Mac were a couple, which she thought was a strange thing to ask. Li calmly shook her head and said, "Not at all, I met cousin Mac when I first met you; we fought together during the attack in Ponyville."
