Name: Toboe Hiretsuna

Sex: Female

Age: 47

Species: Yokai (Okami)

Eye Colour: Gray (in pony form) Yellow in Yokai Form

Coat: Dusty brown

Physique: In her pony form she is an adult mare of simple but well toned looking build.

In her true form she is a large wolf with multiple blue markings over her body, piercing yellow eyes and a ring of hitodama that constantly orbit around her neck.

Residence: Owns two bars: One in Polohama and another recently set up one in the city of Long Kong

Occupation: head of the Polohama branch of the Yakuza, The Hiretsuna Clan. Currently a Bar owner and as she puts it a glorified babysitter for a troublemaker in Long Kong.

Cutie mark:

Has no -true- cutie mark, but when in a pony form tends to favor a mark in the appearance of quartet of sake cups and a flask arranged in the shape of a canine's paw.

Unique traits:

Sense of smell: To be expected of a wolf spirit such as herself, Toboe has an incredible sense of smell. Throughout her life she has used this advantage multiple times to figure sniff our traitors or leaks to the neighponese government and rival groups. It is something of a double edged sword however in that this leaves her very sensitive to certain smells, to the point she requests her underlings and allies wear either minimal cologne or perfume or none at all.

Fighting experience: Having been part of the criminal underground in Neighpon for over forty years has left Toboe with plenty of knowledge in regards to fighting, or at least street fighting. Thanks to her time in this environment her reflexes have been well honed enough to protect herself against most threats to her clan or herself.

Strength: In terms of raw physical prowess, Toboe is incredibly strong. Certain feats she's been known to be capable of include ripping a street sign out of the ground to intimidate a rival clan encroaching on her territory. In some of scuffles she has been in she has been compared to a one mare wrecking crew.

Shapeshifting: Growing up in a house of nothing but Kirin, Ryuma, and ponies, Toboe had to learn on her own how to properly blend in with them... eventually she learned to pass for an equine through her shapeshifting practice, but even then her pony shape is imperfect with some signs of her true nature bleeding through her magic when sick, overly excited, sufficiently drunk, or when in the presence of certain sealing magic. Even then the most telling part of her true self is the eye she hides behind a white eyepatch given to her by her 'father'.

For occasions when it’s best the boss not be out and about, she’s also made a more… discreet and easy to blend in. That of a normal wolf as opposed to her ‘natural’ form. In this form she can easily be mistaken for a large dog.

Underground connections:

Yokai Magic: As a Yokai (particularly an Okami) Toboe is a creature of an impressive magical power with a fairly diverse array of magical skills. Illusion making, telekinesis, invisibility and some teleportation. While she has access to these skills she hasn't developed many of them to their fullest potential, likely due to being separated from her own kind for almost the entirety of her life.

History:

Toboe's story begins in a cage, or at least that's where she can earliest recall... as back then she was a gift for the head of the Hiretsuna clan in Polohama. Apparently she had been taken by some sly member of the organization in order to gain some favor with the boss. Because of all the racket she had made on the trip there and while even being presented she was called Toboe (Or “Howling”) by the stallion who she would eventually consider her father.

Growing up among the family she was brought into was... interesting. She was well taken care of by them even before she could open her eyes. She was fed well, but not to excess and had a good degree of freedom so long as she didn't leave their compound. The condition that limited her freedom didn't sit terribly well with her, but soon she managed to figure out a way to convince the boss to let her go outside by while playing with his children. Over time and constant observation of the equine form she'd been practicing on her own to mimic it and soon enough she became good enough for the boss to give her permission to wander about so long as she didn't got too far from home, stuck close to her siblings... and wore an eyepatch to cover the most visible imperfection in her new shape: her left eye.

The Boss' family was... fairly large. Plenty of the foals would take the time to play with her and go out on the town for some fun. Being a powerful family in their territory, Toboe and her brothers and sisters lived a fairly luxurious life: Full of expensive tributes and a mix of respect and caution from the citizens of Polohama. Toboe eventually gained a deep appreciation for the family she became part of and resolved to become someone worthy of the respect and power that they tended to have.

Learning more about the history of her family and the greater organization that they were a part of became a priority, along with learning about the entire area of Polohama seeing as she sought to one day claim this whole place as her territory. On one of her little expeditions around the island she eventually came across a young, purple qilin being mugged by a pair of young punks... the markings on them implied that they were in fact part of the Hiretsuna. Most of the clan already knew about who the boss was and more importantly who his offspring were. When Toboe claimed that they were shaking down her friend, all they could do was apologize and leave out of fear that any harm falling upon of the bosses 'daughters' would lead to a very bad future for them. This strange qilin turned out be a young Jian-ya: Leader of the Long Kong Triad's son.

This meeting formed a friendship that would last long into their adult lives... and seemed to even open up some cooperation with the Triad and Yakuza.

When Toboe came of age (at least in equine terms) she began to become more involved in the affairs of her clan. She was quick to volunteer for jobs, most of them actually being bodyguard assignments at the start. In time she showed further initiative in converting several shop owners who hadn't shown proper respect to the family by paying to operate on their turf: an impressive feat seeing as she didn't have to resort to violence to do it. The few jobs that required a more... aggressive approach were also something Toboe excelled at. One major attempt at taking over a large chunk of the Polohama territory was foiled by her and a large group of enforcers actions.

By adulthood she had gained a great deal of respect in the organization and after one last great show of respect to her the boss (in which she discovered multiple leaks in the organization and delivered all of them to him in one night) He named her the new Head of their branch.

As the newly crown leader of their branch she took to running the outfit rather naturally. Toboe took the role very seriously but seemed determined to improve relations with the public and the police. At the time to she took over, things were at best workable. After the changes had been made to how money was collected and how police were treated things seemed to become an almost ideal situation. Her underlings are often expected to work with the police in order to assist on any cases that could cause harm to the community so long as the police’s operations do not negatively affect the organization. Certain things that the Hiretsuna have done have improved their standing in the public’s perception, such as keeping parks and certain areas cleans, and other services that have helped keep the peace. Since she has taken her place in the Polohama underground, It has been relatively peaceful and the most she’s had to deal with was routinely going to the streets to meet some of the new, young, and cocky freshly inducted members of the organization… and reminding them just who is the boss of them and how they are expected to conduct themselves.

As her leadership had lead to a more uneventful period of time, Toboe had sought some other things to fill her time, on a bet with one of her siblings she wound up taking a bartending class and before she knew it, had a license. She opened up a small bar in Polohama, away from the major areas and in a cozy, out of the way nook of town where she serves drinks to more or less anyone who comes by.

For the time being though she has opened up a bar in Long Kong and for reasons she’s only shared with the boss of the Triad, is staying there a year to look after the child of a close friend in order to pay off a personal debt.

Personality:

As the Boss or ‘Oyabun’ of the Hiretsuna clan, Toboe is a respectable if fierce and occasionally strict leader to most of those in her family. Most who get to see her softer side are usually those who have shown a great degree of loyalty and have moved up to the higher tiers of her organization. This softer side mostly manifests in a love of drink, good food, parties and almost all forms of luxuries. While she loves these things she hasn’t let them consume her and does keep some level of moderation. Most of her pastimes involve attending fights at the dome, karaoke with friends on their few nights of merriment and going down to shop for food.

While Toboe has managed to mix in with the normal ponies very well up to this point, at the core of her thought processes are several simple motivations: Protect her territory and family, maintain her quality of life, and deal with anything that would threaten either of the previous desires from being fulfilled. To a lesser extent she has a desire to see others in a more romantic sense but given her position, and her attempts to keep her true nature known only to her inner circle have made meeting other people difficulty and occasionally even risky.

Even with the years under her belt in regards to pony based socialization, Toboe is prone to making blunders like sniffing at strangers without thinking, growling when irritated, and sometimes snacking on a bag of treats she keeps stowed away in her bag when she’s overly nervous or stressed.

In general Toboe is a calm headed and polite to most in her charge that follow her rules, and will respect the chain of command above her within reason, there are a few things that can easily anger her or annoy her though. The biggest things that serve to grate her nerves are those when people don’t show proper respect to those above them, be it her or someone else.

Due to being raised almost entirely by ponies, kirin, and ryuma alone has had given Toboe a very unusual experience. She has learned how to use various forms of magic and has been able to make use of two forms so she can move around the city without being at risk of drawing the attention of Yokai hunters, but she only knows as much about her kind as she reads in books or legends. This has left Toboe desiring answers to questions such as: How long will I live? Am I able to use that swirly fire stuff that floats around me sometimes? If I dated an equine would it give rise to a bad situation? … and other such things. For a while she has wanted to visit Poninawa to get answers but is somewhat worried about what the answers she seeks could be.
